League of Villains
"We got a what?!" Tarot slammed her palms on the table and stood. The legs of her chair screeched across the floor.
Rune chuckled, kicking back in his own chair while putting his hands behind his head.
"We got an invitation from the League of Villains," Raven repeated.
Tarot remained standing and stared at her dad, still unable to believe him. An invitation from the League of Villains?
"I think this is great. We can infiltrate and take over," Rune said.
"Get real." Tarot frowned at her brother. "You know they are nothing but trouble."
"And we're not?" Rune smirked.
Tarot shook her head. "That's not what I meant. The League of Villains are insane. Anyone can tell that just by looking at their leader. We're completely different from them." She looked at her dad. "Tell me your not seriously considering joining up with them."
"Tarot, I've already thought long and hard about this," Raven said. "And we are going to join them."
"You can't be serious!"
"Of course he is," Rune interrupted. "It's his decision anyway. Why are you questioning him?"
"Because this is crazy!"
"Enough!" Raven's voice boomed through the house. "Tarot, sit."
Tarot pulled her chair back under her and sat down gripping her fists on her lap.
"I've decided we're going to do a trail run with them," Raven said. "It's good to know what other villains are up to. And their ideology that they follow makes sense."
"Yes, even I have to admit doing whatever we want without heroes around to stop us will be amazing." Rune grinned. "Just imagine it."
Tarot frowned at her brother. She could imagine it all right. Her family might have always been villains, but this was a whole other level. This wasn't good. She knew getting involved with the League would be a very bad idea. Why was she the only one who could see that?
"We'll be meeting up with them this weekend for introductions," Raven then said. "I expect you both to behave." Though he said this to both his children his eyes landed on Tarot. "Understand?"
"Yes, Dad." Tarot nodded. She understood. She had no choice in the matter. With a heavy sigh she resigned herself to this. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad as she thought it would be. Who knows? Maybe they'll become close friends or whatever.
Despite her silent pep talk to herself, she couldn't believe it.
The days past and the weekend came. The small family piled into their car and their dad drove them to their meeting with the League of Villains. Well, they drove part way to their destination. They parked a few blocks over and walked the rest of the way.
Rune scoffed when they arrived at a broken down warehouse. "How original of them."
Tarot remained in place, staring at the building, as her dad and brother walked on. They were several feet ahead of her when she finally joined them.
A door creaked open and the man known as Twice stepped out. "Welcome. Get lost. We're all waiting for you. No we're not."
Tarot eyed the villains as they sat or stood around the large area. She knew all of their names thanks to the research her dad had done prior to this meeting. But that was all. Their quirks were currently unknown.
The smell of dust and mice tickled her nose. Couldn't they have met somewhere better? Couldn't they just get this over with?
"Welcome," Shigaraki said.
Raven nodded. "As promised, I brought my children." He touched their shoulder as he said their names. "This is Tarot, the oldest, and Rune."
"Tarot and Rune," Toga said with her hands up against her cheeks. "Such crazy, unusual names. Do they reflect your quirks?"
"Does your name?" Tarot asked.
"No, but I'm not a stupid looking as you two are."
Rune growled and took a step forward.
Tarot mimicked his moves.
"Calm down now." Magma stepped forward.
"What's this?" Tarot tilted her head to the side. "You need a man to save you?"
Toga whipped out a knife and rushed forward. "You mean a woman! Don't make that mistake again!"
Tarot snorted and dodged the knife easily. "Well, aren't you just the cutest little hypocrite."
Toga spun on her toes. She continued to swipe her knife at Tarot. "What's that suppose to mean?!"
"I know all about you people." Tarot dodged each attack with easy. "You wish to do whatever you want. If you can do that then so can I. And if I want to call a man a man then I will."
"Shut up!" Toga kicked out her foot.
Tarot spun on her heel and grabbed the nut's leg. With a quick twist she flung Toga on the ground.
"Trap!" Rune called out. Glowing runes appeared under each other League members.
Raven laughed.
"Well, they don't disappoint at all," Shigaraki said.
"Told you they were strong. I guarantee they will succeed at any task you give them," Raven said.
"Very good." Shigaraki nodded.
"You mean this was some kind of test?" Rune asked.
"Of course. Do you think I'd let just anyone in?" Shigaraki spread out his arms. "Welcome to the League of Villains."
