a/n: oh my GODDDDD, did yall watch last night's episode?! MAD about how the letter came to light, but I have been thinking about writing and how to incorporate it in this story, so my mind is all over the place! Thank you for the favorites and follows!
"Liv?" Elliot's voice came through the other end of the door, knocking louder each time.
Olivia groaned, the room was now dark and she still felt exhausted. She grabbed her phone and saw the many missed calls and texts from Alex and Elliot, both of them worried.
"Olivia!" He tried to not panic, but she hadn't answered for hours and now he was about to breakdown the goddamn door to get inside.
"I'm coming, I'm coming.." She called back and peeled herself out of the bed and let him in. "El, I'm sorry, I slept through my alarm, and didn't hear a single call." She frowned. Elliot pulled her into his arms and a sigh of relief came over him, and he held her close to his body.
Olivia frowned and wrapped her arms around his waist, holding onto him. Her hands rubbed his back and she nuzzled her face into his chest. "I'm sorry." She whispered, trying to hold back the tears.
"I got worried…" He mumbled against her head, placing a soft kiss to it.
"I'm telling you, this pregnancy is kicking my ass more and more each day. I don't know how I'm going to get through it." She laughed a little and pulled away from his embrace and looked up at him. She was still pissed that he left, not a fucking word for six months, but being this close to him again, made her forget about the emotions in the moment.
Elliot ran his fingers through her hair and looked down at her and smiled. He knew he had a lot to tell her, and he would spend the rest of his life making it up to her in any way that he could.
"Can we order in? I really don't want to go out." She laughed a little, her cheek resting against his hand.
"Anything you want, Liv." He smiled and pulled out his phone and they decided on what they wanted to eat.
"You have any cravings yet?" He grinned and she laughed. "Well I've been eating egg rolls every single day, and I hate them!" She laughed again and rubbed her belly. "But whatever baby wants, baby gets." She smiled and sat on the couch in the room.
Elliot sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as they looked through an online menu together, decided what they wanted and he called it in.
"How… are you?" He asked after a few moments of silence.
Olivia struggled to answer the question. Part of her wanted to scream at him for leaving her like that, but she was so goddamn happy that she was back with him, but also terrified of what was going to come out of this trip. She knew that Kathy was here, and she didn't know how their relationship was, and she didn't want to hear the answer of him choosing his wife at the end of the day.
"I… uh… I was really upset when you left me, El.. I'm not going to lie about that. I knew that you were hurt, and our judgement was clouded that night, but I don't regret it at all." She admitted. She wasn't going to hold back anymore, she had wasted too much of her own time pushing down all of her feelings, and if he wanted honesty, he was going to get it.
"I thought that by you leaving me, you thought it was a mistake, and that we should have never done it. But I get to be a mom because of it, so I don't regret it… I wish maybe that the circumstances were different and your wife wasn't miles away from us right now… But you gave me something that I have wanted for so long." Olivia couldn't hold back the tears, the hormones were raging through her body again, and she needed to hear Elliot say that he felt the same way for all of these years, and that he did still feel the same way.
"Kathy wants to get a divorce." He blurted out. He expected himself to ease into it, but he needed to make that known. When he left her a few hours earlier, Kathy had already been blowing up his phone and he went back home. They had gotten into a fight, and it ended with her screaming she wants a divorce. She knew that she could never compare to Olivia, and she knew deep down where Elliot's heart was, and where it had always been. Kathy was tired of fighting for her marriage, and she knew that she was the only one trying. She knew that the moment they both found out that Olivia was pregnant, that he was going to choose her. It was the easy way out, she knew that he could never abandon his kids, even if it was with another woman.
"What?" Olivia shook her head, trying to wrap her mind around it. She stood up and let a shaky breath out and paced the room. She knew that Kathy knew, and she had every right to know, but Olivia wanted to be the one to tell her. Olivia was never the one to hide behind another person, she was going to own up to what she did and be honest that she was the other woman. She hated that she was, but she didn't hate what came out of it.
"Liv, relax, you're getting yourself worked up. This is my battle, not yours." Elliot frowned and grabbed her hand. She looked down at him with her big, teary brown eyes and sat back down and buried her face into her hands.
"Elliot, we really fucked up." She sobbed. She hated being like this, feeling so vulnerable and emotional. She never wanted to come between Elliot's marriage, and she promised herself from day one that she wouldn't.
"No, Liv, I did. The moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew that you were it. I knew that I would get to be with you one way or another, and I feel like a fucking asshole for hurting my wife in the process, but Liv, it's always been you." He pulled her into his arms again and she held on.
Hearing Elliot tell her the words that she wanted to hear for so long made her feel giddy inside. She had held on to these feelings for the last ten years, and kept them to herself. She knew that the long nights working together, the secret glances here and there, the constant presence of being with one another, she wasn't the only one feeling it. The day that she had met him had been one of the best and worst days of her life. Best, because he was handsome, kind, and everything that she looked for in a man, and worst, because she caught a glimpse of the gold band on his finger and knew that it was all downhill from there.
"I love you, Olivia, and I have loved you every day for the last ten years, and I will love you every day, until I die." He placed his hand on her cheek and lifted her chin up to meet his eyes and she made the move this time. She wrapped her arms around his neck and positioned herself to straddle his lap. She got as closely as her pregnant belly would allow and her lips met his. He wrapped his arms around her waist, getting lost against her mouth.
"I love you too, El." Olivia finally admitted, kissing his lips again. "You don't know how long I have been wanting to hear that." She whispered against his lips and kissing him again.
Elliot laughed, placing a kiss to her shoulder and held her close against his body. "I've almost slipped up a few times, you know?"
Olivia grinned and sat back on his legs and placed her hand on his chest. "As if I didn't catch you staring at me every single chance you got." She laughed and rolled her eyes. "I want to do this right, El, I need you to take the time to get through your divorce. Your kids are going to have a lot of questions, and I already have a lot of questions about us, but we will work through that." She spoke softly.
"I know, Liv, I don't want to fuck this up. I give you my word, we are going to get through this." He leaned in and kissed her lips again.
"I thought that… if I left… It would be easier… Than talking about how I felt… and why I left… I didn't leave because we slept together, I left because I couldn't face you. I couldn't look at you the next day and tell you that I'm all in because I was married. I know it was a cop out, and I was wrong." He sighed. "But I'm not leaving you again, Liv." He shook his head and she smiled, leaning into him again and hugging his body.
"It was a cop out move." She laughed and pulled herself off of him and relaxed into the couch, putting her legs over his. "I guess you're stuck with me for life this time, huh?" she smiled and looked down at her belly. His hands cupped her stomach and he leaned down and placed a kiss onto it and smiled.
January 2012
New York
Elliot had moved back to New York, and Kathy stayed in California. She made a life for herself out there to rid herself from Elliot. She was heartbroken that her worst fears came true, and him choosing Olivia in the end. She knew that it was Olivia in the end, and she wasn't going to fight it anymore. Elliot would fly out as often as he could to see Eli, and Kathy eventually allowed Eli to fly to say with them. She wasn't going to keep Eli away from Elliot, but the thought of him being around Olivia still made her blood boil.
Olivia had tried to reach out to Kathy countless times to express her feelings and how sorry she was, but she always got sent to voicemail. Olivia was the person who always wanted to make things right, even if she was the one to royally fuck them up. She eventually stopped trying, and Kathy never called her back.
"I can't wait to get this damn kid out of me." Olivia groaned, sinking into the couch. She was four weeks away from her due date, and as much as she loved being pregnant, she was miserable now. Her feet were swollen all the time, she couldn't sleep, and somehow became more emotional as the days drug on.
Alex grinned and handed her a cup of tea and curled up on the other end of the couch with hers and looked at her friend. "Pregnancy looks really good on you Liv, I can't lie." She laughed and Olivia smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Al, I wanted to ask you something.." Olivia took a sip of her tea and looked at the blonde. "I mean, I was supposed to wait until Elliot got home, but he's pissing me off so I don't want to wait." She laughed and placed one hand on her stomach and smiled.
Alex raised her eyebrow, "If you're asking me to join this relationship, no thank you." She teased and Olivia laughed shaking her head. "You wish, counselor." She grinned.
"We want you to be our baby's God Mother.." Olivia smiled a little.
Alex's eyes went wide with surprise, and felt like her heart was going to explode. Olivia had meant the world to Alex, and being asked to be a God mother was a big deal, and knew how important Elliot's faith was.
"Olivia, I would love to." Alex smiled, teary eyed and leaned over and hugged Olivia. She rubbed her stomach and smiled. "This kid is in for it!" She laughed and hugged Olivia again.
"Do you think you'll ever have kids?" Olivia asked curiously and Alex shrugged.
"I've thought about it… I don't know if I would want to do it alone, and I've seen this pregnancy with you." She teased. "I don't know, Liv, but I do know that this baby is already very loved and I'm genuinely honored that you two are choosing me." Alex smiled.
The two glanced over when they heard the door open and Elliot strolled in, he placed a kiss to Olivia's head and greeted Alex.
"I asked her." Olivia smiled and looked up at him.
"To be our third?" Elliot grinned and Olivia playfully hit his legs.
"You two are friggin pigs!" Olivia groaned.
Alex and Elliot laughed and Alex stood up to hug the taller man and Elliot hugged her back. It was a rare sight seeing these two get along. "I'm really happy for you, Elliot, and I am honored." She smiled and grabbed her bag.
"I have to get down to the office, but call me if you need anything." She smiled, looking at Olivia and left them alone.
Elliot settled himself next to her, pulling her feet up to his lap and rubbed them. "Keep that up and you might just get another kid out of me." Olivia grinned and closed her eyes.
Elliot laughed and shook his head, "I can't afford seven kids and you, Liv." He laughed again.
In some ways, it still felt wrong. Olivia was finally with the man that she longed to be with. She woke up to him every morning, and kissed him every night. They were weeks away from bringing a tiny human into the world, and she was still trying to wrap her mind around this man being hers. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that they would end up where they were. They had been honest and open with each other, and she pulled him through his divorce. He thanked his lucky stars that Kathy gave up the will to fight, he finally realized that she had known all this time that she wasn't the one for him. It still hurt him the way he hurt her, but a small part of him was happy with how things turned out.
Olivia's pregnancy had been a blessing for the both of them. They knew that if she hadn't gotten pregnant, that they could have spent years apart, and years' worth of feelings would have been unresolved.
The due date came earlier than expected, and neither of them felt prepared. Oliva's water had broken two weeks later, and she knew that she was close enough to term to know that their baby would be okay, but it didn't stop her mind from racing at the thought of becoming a mother and not being able to protect her once she entered the world.
Her labor was relatively easy, compared to the horror stories she had heard about Elliot's other kids. Everything had happened so quickly, neither one of them realized it hadn't even been an hour of pushing. The room was quiet for a moment, and then filled with the sounds of baby cries with healthy lungs.
"Congrats, mom and dad! A girl!" The doctor laid her on Olivia's chest and let Elliot cut the cord. Olivia's tears flowed down her face as she held the baby close to her body, savoring this moment for the rest of her life.
"You did it, Liv." Elliot whispered against her ear, placing a kiss to her head. He held back his tears and smiled down at her. "We did it." She cried tears of joy. This moment would live in her head; Elliot and their baby.
The nurses cleaned up the baby and Olivia and handed her back, swaddled up in a white blanket and a pink hat. Olivia held her in her arms and just stared at her, still not being able to wrap her mind around the fact that this was her baby.
"God, Liv.." Elliot looked down at her, and then back at Olivia. "She's a spitting image of you." He kissed her head again and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Do we have a name?" The nurse smiled at the two.
Olivia looked at Elliot and smiled and they both looked back at her. "Elena Mae Stabler." Elliot smiled and Olivia felt like her heart was going to burst, hearing him say their daughter's name.
The nurse finished up with the birth certificate and had them both sign in and let them be.
"Elliot, am I dreaming?" Olivia laughed and looked up at him. He grinned and placed a kiss to her lips.
"I think we both are." He laughed and cradled the baby in his arms. "You did so good, Liv." He mumbled, getting lost in his own little world.
Olivia smiled and leaned back into the bed and closed her eyes. "Get some rest. I'll be here." He kissed her head and carefully moved to the chair and let Olivia sleep.
"Welcome to this crazy world, little girl." Elliot whispered and placed a gentle kiss to Elena's head.
