"Tails, what do we do?!" Penny shrieked as the robots surrounded her, Tails, and other villagers up to the wall.
"I-I don't know!" The kitsune whimpered, covering his head.
Tails and Penny yelped as the robots stomped closer and held onto each other. The female squeezed her eyes shut and clung to Tails, awaiting for the final blow, but it never came.
Hearing smashing, Penny and Tails looked up to see Sonic smashing away at the robots. "SONIC!" Penny cried happily, running up and hugging him.
Sonic returned the hug and smiled at everyone. "Is everybody okay?"
"We are, thanks to you." Tails grinned. "Cutting it is kind of close, pal."
"I agree with Tails." Penny nodded, standing up.
"Yeah, that's pretty much how I roll." Sonic smirked at his two best buds. Tails quickly grabbed Penny and pulled her away from the ring of fire. Sonic turned towards Eggman. "Okay, let's finish this, Eggman!"
"It will be your finish, Sonic!" Eggman hissed. "Behold, the power of my ultimate masterpiece!"
Sonic growled. He lunged a spin attack at Eggman, but was surprisingly punched away by...
"SHADOW?!" Penny cried from the corner, her eyes wide.
"Penny, we have to leave!" Tails yelled. Penny ignored him and continue to watch as Zavok landed next to Shadow. Next, Metal Sonic arrived. And then Chaos.
A new figure that Penny had never seen before entered the scene. He was a jackal with inky black fur with white streaks of fur hear and there, all surrounded by an eerie red aurora. Sonic rubbed his nose and lunged an attack, but the jackal teleported out of the way.
"Whoa, this guy is faster than Sonic!" Tails said, his blue eyes wide as he and Penny watched from the sidelines.
Penny watched as Sonic tried destroying the jackal, but the jackal smashed Sonic into a wall.
"SONIC!" Penny shrieked.
"PENNY, GET BACK!" The blue hedgehog yelled at her.
Tails frowned thoughtfully. "No, wait, it's something else!" He pulled out his scanner. "I gotta scan him and figure it out!"
Penny watched as Sonic smashed his way through his attackers, but they were too strong for him. Sonic let out a grunt as the jackal threw him to the ground.
"Tails! I need to know what's going on with this guy!" Sonic grunted, struggling to get up.
"I'm trying, Sonic!" Tails responded, fiddling with his scanner. "but these readings are all messed up! They don't make sense!"
Penny let out another shriek, and Tails glanced up. His blue eyes widened as he and Penny watched Sonic get smashed and tossed around by the newcomers.
"Running out of time here, Tails!" Sonic yelped. He grunted as he fell to the ground. He tried to get up but quickly fell down again.
"SONIC!" Tails and Penny shrieked.
The last thing Sonic saw was black and red shoes landing beside him, then everything went black.
