Kathryn, Kathryn where are you?
Kathryn smiles slightly and calls back
"I'm over here Chakotay"
Chakotay walks around the corner and snorts almost dropping his bundle of things
"Kathryn" he says whilst trying not to laugh " may I ask why you are lying on the roof? "
you may but I'm not going to reply" she retorts
Chakotay snorts again and climes up the ladder propped up against the house she smiles at him them says
"sit down Chakotay your in the way"
she pats the roof next to her and looks down at her confused she smirks
"lie down Chakotay and relax"
"wha...what me relax?! Who are you and what have you done with Kathryn Janeway?"
she smiles "Janeway is taking a break Kathryn's coming out to play lie down Chakotay" he sighs but complies lying down next to her and looks at her sideways
"now why are you lying on the roof Kathryn"
she smiles-
"sunbathing"
-and closes her eyes he looks at her the weeks of sun were doing her good she smiles and let's her head fall sideways into his shoulder he freezes for a few minutes in till her breathing evens out and he realizes she is asleep
Chakotay's eyes slowly involuntarily close and before he falls asleep he registers Kathryn's warm small hand slip into his he closes his fingers around it as he drifts off to sleep

Kathryn slowly wakes up the first thing that registers is that her back is very sore then she realizes that she is cocooned in Chakotays arms. She slowly extracts herself and groans involuntarily when she sits up Chakotay wakes up and blinks at her
"hello"
"hi"
she groans again as she flexes her shoulders
"what?"
"sore back from lying on this not so comfortable roof"
she laughs quietly and Chakotay pulls himself to his feet then holds a hand out to Kathryn who smiles and takes it he pulls her to her feet she bends over groaning Chakotay frowns at her and gently manipulated the sore muscles in her back she visibly relaxes and straightened up moaning slightly in relief
"Thank you Chakotay"
he smiles gently and touches her shoulder
"your welcome Kathryn but I'm not done"
"oh?"
She looks at him quizzically as he descends to the ground via the ladder Kathryn makes her way more slowly than he did he gives her his hand as she steps off the ladder
"Thank you, and what do you mean your not done?"
he smiles as he lets go of her hand
"go and get something comfortable on I'll be back in a minute"
He smiles at her again and walks inside she follows him and disappears behind the partition.
Chakotay reappears a few seconds later holding a small bottle and his medicine bundle walks outside lays out the blankets he was carrying and makes a cushion from one for Kathryn's head she appears a few minutes later
"What's all this about?"
"Lie down Kathryn"
He gently pats the blankets next to him
"Okay"
"That's it"
he gently eases her top up so he can get to the bare skin on her back them goes to pour some of the oil out of the little bottle onto his hands
Kathryn grabs his wrist
"What?"
" Let me smell it"
Chakotay holds out the little bottle in her direction she takes it her fingers brushing his hand and sniffs it nods in appreciation and hands it back. Chakotay smiling pours a little into his hand and very gently massages it on her back
" ohhh"
Her noise of appreciation is accidental as he gently rubs the oil into the skin of her back she sinks lower and lower into the blankets as he rubs her back slower and lighter
"Can I go back to sleep Chakotay?"
he smiles gently and pulls her top back over her head
"Of course Kathryn"
He goes to stand up but she grabs his hand
"No Chakotay" she yawns then continues " stay"
"What here ?"
when she nods he swallows
"With you"
"I certainly don't see anyone else"
Chakotay smiles and slowly lies down behind her she wriggles back and into his arms he stiffens then as she relaxes brings his arms around
her she sighs appreciately and rapidly falls asleep he gently turns her around and she unconsciously burrows into him he smiles and finally closes his eyes and falls asleep

Kathryn moans slightly and yawns Chakotay stirs Kathryn quickly closes her eyes and wriggles down slightly so her face is pressed into his neck
"Kathryn?"
Kathryn smiles against his neck and burrows further in
"What's the matter?"
"Cold nose"
She sounds slightly muffled and Chakotay smiles and sits up she squeaks in protest as she slides to the side Chakotay catches her she groans and sits up too
"I wondered if you wanted to contact your spirit guide?"
Kathryn smiles and nods
"Yes I'd like to"
"Okay come here"
Kathryn smiles and wriggles over to sit next to Chakotay
"Do you remember how?"
Kathryn smiles and shakes her head blushing slightly
"That's okay"
Chakotay opens his medicine bundle and takes out the akoonah and lies it on the ground then looks at Kathryn and takes her hand when she nods, he places it on the akoonah pressing it down gently
"Ah-koo-chee-moya we are far from the Sacred places of our grandfathers far from the bones of our people but many there is a powerful being who is willing to embrace us"
*Kathryn and Chakotay open there eyes they are sitting next to each other in an empty field next to a large rock*
"Where are we?"
"Isn't this where you go on your spirit walk?"
" No I thought it was yours"
"No"
A wolf Saunders up Kathryn shrinks back into Chakotay slightly
"Its ok Kathryn she won't hurt you"
A small greyish brown gecko scurrys up the dock and up Kathryn's arm to sit to her shoulder Chakotay smiles and the gecko looks at him
"Hello Kathryn"
"Hello"
Kathryn smiles at her spirit guide, the wolf sits down next to Chakotay who smiles gently at her
"Hello Chakotay"
"Hello this is Kathryn"
"Oh this is Chakotay "
Kathryns spirit guide smiles and jumps onto Chakotays shoulder. The wolf nudges Kathryns leg, she holds out a hand and the wolf gently licks it. The gecko climbs up Chakotay's ear Kathryn gently scoops him off and puts it back on her shoulder. The wolf sits next to Chakotay who touches her flank gently then they both slide back out of the spirit walk
"What happened?"
"I don't know we just... Left"
Kathryn yawns and stretches
"I thought we could have a bonfire tonight?"
"I don't see why not"
"Good Good"
Chakotay sits up and grabs Kathryn by the arms pulling her upright she laughs and squirms
"Stop it your tickling me"
She roars with laughter as he tickles her, wriggling and squirming
"Stop it, stop it your tickling me"
Chakotay laughs and gently releases her tucking her hair behind her ears. Kathryn closes her eyes and tips her head forward Chakotay doesn't pay much attention until a tear lands on his knee
"Kathryn? Hay what's the matter?"
Kathryn doesn't say anything just raises her head to look at him, her face is covered in tears
"Kathryn? Hay its ok don't cry"
Kathryn just looks at him he quickly wraps his arms around her and pulls her head down onto his shoulder as she sobs, shaking, terribly upset.
"What's the matter Kathryn, did I do something?"
she shakes her head and presses her face into his warm neck as her sobs make it impossible for her to talk
"Its ok Kathryn it's ok."
Chakotay gently rocks Kathryn from side to side cradling her in his arms as her violent sobs shake them
"I'm sorry Chakotay"
She finally manages
"No Kathryn don't be sorry"
"Bu-"
"No Kathryn, no buts I won't let you belittle yourself"
Kathryn sighs and relaxes her grip on him. Chakotay rubs her back and strokes her shoulder with his thumb
"I'm just so sleepy"
"Go back to sleep Kathryn if your not awake in three hours then I'll wake you up ok?
" yes ok"
She yawns and nestled against Chakotay's side falls asleep. He keeps an arm wrapped around her and gently lowers her to the blanket. Kisses her on the forehead and releases her. Kathryn moans and squirms up to Chakotay's warm legs
"Hay shh shh go back to sleep I'm not going anywhere Kathryn"
Kathryn wraps her arms around his waist and relaxes. Chakotay smiles at her willingness to show this kind of weakness with him. He gently strokes her cheek. He croons gently and Kathryn slowly releases him. ten minutes later he slowly stands up, stretching stiffly and begins to pile up branches for the fire.

Kathryn moans as the smell of wood smoke tickles her nose. Chakotay gently shakes her again
"Kathryn"
He coos
"Kathryn"
"Mmm"
"I'm sorry but I told you I'd wake you up in three hours"
"I know, thank you"
Kathryn sits up and yawns
"I just lit the bonfire Kathryn"
"Ok"
Kathryn shivers and rubs her arm
"The temperatures dropped again"
"Mmm"
Kathryn shivers again and tips her head onto Chakotay's shoulder. He looks pleased but surprised
"Kathryn?"
"Cold"
At that Chakotay puts an arm around Kathryn and pulls her closer to his side
"This is nice"
