Up in the X Tornado, Penny, Francis, Chris, and Tails were up in the air looking for Chaos Emeralds. Francis looked down from the plane and grinned. "Penny, there's my house down there!"

Penny curiously glanced down from the plane. "Which one, Francis?"

"Do you see the one with the red roof?"

"Yeah, hey, that's a pretty cool house, Francis!"

"You should come over for a visit sometime!" Francis grinned happily at the pink and white hedgehog. Penny turned to her with a wide smile. "Thanks, I totally will!"

Francis turned to Chris. "Hey, Chris, do you think we could fly over your school?"

Chris stuttered. "Uh, well...maybe..."

"Guys, this isn't a sight-seeing trip," Tails reminded them, his eyes peeled in front of him. "We've got to hurry and track down the next Chaos Emerald or Eggman'll get it before we do!"

"I know, Tails," Chris stuttered. "Sorry..."

Tails turned to Chris, curiosity on his face. "Hey, Chris, where did you get those new high-tech goggles?"

"I was wondering the same thing!" Penny said with a grin. "Are they from your grandpa?"

Chris shook his head. "Mmm, no, my teacher, Mr. Stewart, gave 'em to me!" He leaned foward in his seat with a wide smile. "Like em?"

Tails nodded. "Mm-hmm! They look pretty cool!"

Chris grinned. "Yeah, they're one of the best gifts I ever got!"

The green Chaos Emerald started glowing, and Tails frowned. "The Chaos Emerald's picking up something."

"That's great!" Chris said.

"See the locator screen?"

"South-southeast!"

"Chaos Emerald, here we come!" Tails announced. He steered the plane over to a cornfield and stopped it in the middle.

No sign of Eggman anywhere.

Chris grinned. "The scope says there's a Chaos Emerald in this field. We beaten Eggman to it!" He glanced at Tails. "Open up so we can start looking!"

"We can look for here!" Tails said.

"Huh?" Penny and Chris asked.

"Wait and see!" The kitsune replied. He pressed a button and the X Tornado released its own set of legs.

"WOW!" Francis cheered.

Penny glanced over at Tails. "Tails, what's next up your sleeve?"

"I transformed it to an all-purpose robot called the X-Cyclone." Tails grinned, rubbing his nose. "What do you guys say we take it for a little stroll?"

"YES!" Penny and Chris cheered.

Tails started driving the X-Cyclone. "Now, let's find that Chaos Emerald!"

"Looks like there's a Chaos Emerald right under our feet!" Chris said.

The four were standing in a clear spot of the cornfield. Tails leaned over and carefully inspected it.

Penny frowned. "I might have forgotten the tools to dig it up with..."

Francis patted Penny's shoulder. "That's okay! 'Cause we got the X-Cyclone to dig it for us! Isn't that right Tails?"

Tails jumped, sweating.

"Hey, Tails!" Chris grinned. "You said it was an all-purposed robot."

Tails gulped. "I...didn't include a digging function..."

"WHAT?!" Penny, Francis, and Chris freaked out.

"It-it's not all purposed like you said it was, huh?" Penny asked slowly. She groaned. "Now what?"

"Guys, I bet the farmhouse we saw has some shovels we can borrow." Chris dashed off, followed closely by Francis.

They had been digging for a while, but the Chaos Emerald didn't pop up yet. Chris huffed, standing up for a minute. "It must be deep. Just keep digging."

The sound of a motor caused the kids to stop digging. "What's that?" Francis asked hesitantly.

"Sounds like some sort of jet..." Penny frowned. The gang yelped as a shadow loomed over them, and a giant fan stopped in front of them.

"Who's that?" Francis asked.

Eggman floated beside his robot, and Chris narrowed his eyes. "Oh, no, it's Dr. Eggman!"

"Tails, do something!" Penny cried, glancing at the fox with wide eyes.

Tails nodded, running towards the X-Cyclone. He hopped in and turned the plane over towards the robot.

"Have you found my Chaos Emerald yet?" Eggman sneered.

"We're not going to give it to you!" Tails shot back.

"Tails is right!" Penny yelled. "That Chaos Emerald belongs to us, since it's our ticket home! Hands off, monster!"

Eggman snickered. "Very well, I'll just take it then."

Chris glanced at the gang. "Hey, I better find a phone and call Sonic."

Penny turned to him. "Please do, tell him that trouble's a brewin'!"

Chris turned to Francis. "Come on, Francis" He took Francis's hand and took off.

"Get them, FunFun!" Eggman yelled.

"Tails, stop him! You can do it!" Penny cheered from the ground.

"Let's go!" Tails yelled. He pulled the plane's lever and lifted off the ground, but FunFun turned on its fan, and Penny was sent flying in the air, screaming.

"PENNY!" Tails screamed. He let out a yell as the X Cyclone crashed to the ground.

"You're blowing those brats away!" Eggman cheered. "Good work!"

"UH-OH!" Tails screamed as the wind pushed him further back. The gust of wind was so strong that it knocked the barn and barnhouse away, and Chris quickly grabbed Francis and pulled her to the ground, protecting her from the debris.

Eggman laughed. "This is the most "funfun" I had in a long time!"

Tails grunted. "The control stick is jammed up!"

The wind was so strong that it knocked away the cool headset from Chris's head. Well, he was better without it, because there was secretly a tracker planted in the headset, and Mr. Stewart was tracking them. He had been trailing them to the place where the tracker notified their location, but almost imediately the tracker started moving.

Mr. Stewart furrowed his brows curiously and glanced at the monitor. "They're headed the other way! All right!"

He dashed after the tracker.

"We interupt our regular brodcast to bring you this live emergancy adress from the President." Scarlet announced on the news.

The President was now on the screen, and he was sweating a little as he spoke. "My fellow citizens. Today, our military forces launched an all-out attack against the hedquartes of Dr. Eggman. Despite repeated warnings, Dr. Eggman has continued to threaten the peace and well-being of our nation."

Cream, who was watching the whole thing, narrowed her eyes. "We have to tell Sonic about this!"

She ran out, followed closely by Cheese.

Sonic ran into the workshop, Cream and Cheese close behind him. "Hey, Tails, let's-"

The three stopped in their tracks. The X Tornado was gone, including Tails, Chris, and Penny.

"How could he leave without you, Sonic?" Cream gasped.

"Hi, there, Sonic."

Sonic and Cream glanced up at Chuck. "Tails went flying with Penny and Chris and his friend Francis. I'm not sure where, they left quite a while ago, so I don't think they'll be gone too much longer!"

Sonic growled, clenching his fists. "Lousy time for a joyride!"

"The wind's got us pinned down!" Chris yelled. Hearing grunting, he looked up to see Penny working towards them, much to his surprise. She had a borrowed hammer in her hand, nailing stakes to the ground as she made her way up to the kids.

"Penny!" Chris cried.

"I'm almost there, just hang in there a little longer!" Penny yelled over the wind.

Tails finally managed to straighten his plane, and he glared at Eggman. "I won't let you win, Eggman!"

Eggman laughed. "That measly machine of yours is no match for my robot!"

"Oh, yeah?!" Tails yelled.

Eggman snickered. "Let's compete to see whose robot rules. Knocking the wind of your puny X Cyclone will be a breeze!" He snapped his fingers, and the fan whirred even faster. Eggman laughed. "It seems Tails is in way over his head!"

Tails let out a scream as a huge gust of wind knocked the X Cyclone in the air.

The phone rang, and Chuck picked it up, nodding. "Yes, that's right. Sorry, what did you say?! Speak up! They're in Ting-a-Ling villa? Thanks a lot, I'll send someone after them right away!"

He turned off the phone, and Cream glanced up at him anxiously. "What's that, grandpa?"

Chuck put the phone down. "He didn't say who he was." He turned to Sonic. "Chris needs your help at Ting-a-Ling Villa."

Sonic stood up, determination in his green eyes. "Right."

He zoomed out of the garage and towards his friends.
