Chapter 17: A battle with one's self

No one's point of view:

Tenma did not stay in her human form for long. She once again changed back into the golden wolf and Tenma's eyes re-opened locking back onto Sannan. Unlike last time her eyes seem to hold more intelligent then before. Almost like her human side is aiding her and keeping her more in a human mind despite being in a wolf's body.

Sannan placed his hand on the hilt of his sword ready to draw should he need to. Yet he could see that the wolf before him still held high intelligent. He moved a bit closer and reaching out with one hand placed said hand on the wolf's head, he heard a small sound that sounded like a wine or groan of pain. Was Tenma in pain in this form? He lightly as he could ran his fingers through the fur on her head. Before undoing the binds that held her to the table and muttering out a sorry to her. Tenma pushed her head into the hand that he was lightly running through her fur. He smiled a sad smile his mind trying to think of a way to ease her pain and to turn her back into a more human form or even better a human. Tenma got up and got down from the table Sannan watched calmly knowing that the wolf still had a more human mind somehow. At least that is what he wants to believe.

The two walk back into Sannan's main bedroom leaving behind the hidden room that Sannan had built. Sannan sat down in the seiza position while Tenma lay down and rested her head in his lap shocking Sannan san. A light blush crossed his face for a brief moment before he sighed a half smile on his face as he began to stoke her golden fur again. Tenma closed her eyes her long golden wolf tail started to wag as she breathed in Sannan's scent. They stayed like this for a while, until Tenma moved her head off Sannan's lap and onto the floor. At that time Sannan got up and made his futon for himself to sleep before he added an extra pillow in case Tenma somehow changed back into a human.

With that he got changed behind a screen then went to bed. He was wearing his sleeping kimono which is pure white. He got into the futon and pulled the covers over his body setting his glasses above his pillow so they would not break. Then he drifted off into sleep. When he woke up the next morning He was a bit confused, as he felt something on his chest. Looking down he could see golden hair and golden wolf ears. He knew it was Tenma, he reached for his glasses and put them on. Looking more clearly he saw she was back in a more human form however she still had a long tail which was draped over his lower half of his body. Making him blush a little bit.

He didn't know what to do it was early morning and the only ones who would be up would be Kondou san and Hijikata kun. Sannan knew he couldn't really get up unless he woke Tenma up something that he didn't want to do. So he chose to just watch her for a bit trying not to think where her tail was or the fact that her tail was slowly moving back and forth and thus creating a slight friction on his nether regions, which in turn was making him have a hard on. He let out a sigh as he tried to carefully move his body away from Tenma's moving tail without waking her up. She muttered in her sleep and Sannan was able to move just enough that he could gently place her head on the spare pillow, however just as he had placed her head and Hijikata came in and looked at the scene.

Sannan looked up face holding a red blush on his normally pale cheeks. "It's not what you think Hijikata kun" he said as Hijikata looked at Sannan and replied with, "And what do I think it is Sannan san? Please tell me also when did Himura kun grow a tail?" A hint of amusement was laced in Hijikata's voice. Blinking and with a red face that would make a sailor blush Sannan managed to get out, "she grew the tail last night also she turned into a wolf last night as well. Then sometime in the night she ended up in this form you see before you." Hijikata nodded as he too note that Sannan had not told him what he thought that he himself had seen. "I see When your ready and dressed make sure that Himura kun and yourself get to our meeting room for breakfast see you both soon" and with that he walked out as if this was an everyday thing.

Tenma's eyes moved as she opened them seeing Sannan more or less above her. She also saw the blush on his face as well as the deer caught in the headlights look. Tenma's tail started to vanished and soon was gone, leaving Tenma to look like she did before she was able to turn into a wolf. Tenma started to blush herself at how close Sannan was. "Umm Sannan san what are you doing?" she asked and he replied as calmly as he could, "I was trying to move you off of me. Last night you must have snuggled up against me. I didn't do anything to you Himura kun that I can assure you." He moved so his back was to her as he moved about to get ready for the day going behind the screen to change.

Tenma took in a few breaths face still holding her blush. She got up herself and went to her room to get changed. Sannan knew she had gone to get changed and lucky for him his clothes he was now wearing fully hid up his hard on. He would have to take care of that later he knew. He went out of the building and into one of the compound's courtyards where he waited until Tenma came out. Once they was both out they headed to where the others was to have their breakfast. And again lucky no one seemed to bother them about how Hijikata had found them. Although all the men in the room was fully aware of how Hijikata was smiling at Sannan from time with a rather amused look in his eyes.

Tenma's p.o.v:

A week has passed since I woke up with Sannan san's face above my own. Since then I have done what I normally do, I am still allowed to play with Towa chan although now more then anything she says that she can smell even more wolf in me. But also has told me not to worry as my human half is still there. We have played games and when I am not around Sannan takes care of her almost like a father himself. Something that I once over heard one of the men say to Saito san, which made the captain turn and blink while looking deep in thought. Good thing that Towa chan is a good child and no real trouble. I have also been keeping track of the days, and noted that the night of the new moon will be soon.

I am a little bit worried as Towa chan has told me that I will become my human self for that one night and won't have a trace of demon in me which means I won't be able to turn into a wolf or have any of my new demon powers. For that one night Towa chan has told me that I will be a human and only able to do what humans do. I am not worried as I was human when I first met Towa chan, and can take care of myself. Right now I was sitting under the cherry blossom tree. I was in the shade Towa chan sitting in front of me while I combed her hair. I could see someone I had only saw once while being here. I knew his name as I had over heard it from one of the captains. The man's name was Yamazaki although I never got his first name. Not that I care what his first name was at the time. I noticed that he was watching me at the moment while I was combing Towa chan's hair.

Once I was done with Towa chan's hair I gave her a smile almost as warm as the sun. Today I was feeling much weaker then I had since I was turned into a half demon. I knew what was coming tonight and for a moment I thought about if I should tell someone that I would change into a human with no demon powers or if I should not say anything. I must have been spacing out as I had not seen Towa chan go off to play nearby nor did I see Yamazaki walk up and sit next to me under the tree. I also failed to notice a pair of eyes behind glasses watching both me and Yamazaki.

"Himura kun I assume, I am Yamazaki I have been told that you are a fury who has kept their mind in tact. And also that you are Sannan san's page as well as a girl and was once the legendry manslayer's left over from one of the many wars? I thought it best to introduce myself as we might be working together sometime in the future." Yamazaki told me as his eyes studied my eyes. I could feel myself taking in what he had said and while it was mostly true I could not tell him the fully truth. I was still under the mare belief that if I told anyone about being a half demon half human they would be mad that I had kept something like that and might attack me. So I just smiled at him and nodded, " yes that me it is nice to meet you Yamazaki san" I replied.

He nodded as he looked over to Towa before looking back at me. "I hope you don't think me rude but are you feel well? Is the sun bothering you as you look a bit tired and pale more so then normal. I must admit I have been watching you as I was asked to do so when you first came here, but today you look a bit unwell." He said and I could hear the concern laced in his voice. "I am fine just a bit tired is all" I told him. It was then that Sannan had walked over after hearing what Yamazaki had said about me looking unwell.

Sannan's eyes roamed my face a look of great concern filled his gaze as he studied me. "Yamazaki san is right Himura kun you are looking a bit under the weather. If you are feeling unwell or tried then come and get some rest. We can not have you falling ill." His words as soft as always but held an underling threat that spoke volume that if I didn't go and rest he would be more then unhappy with me. I sighed and agreed to go get some rest, which seemed to please Sannan going by the smile that filled his face. I walked back to my room and sat down leaning against the wall. I could hear not long after footsteps no doubt belonging to Sannan. And just like I thought he opened the door after telling me he was coming in. He sat down in front of me and asked, "are you sure your just tired? You know you can tell me or anyone of the captains anything even if it is something that is bothering you or if you feel unwell."

His words filled my heart as I gave him a small smile and said softly, "tonight is the night of the new moon I will not look like I do now. In fact I will look like I did before I became what I am now." Shocked filled his handsome face as he stared at me. "Also I will not be as strong as I have been until morning. I will be back to my human self only for one night" He took it all in and nodded as he gave me a small smile. He promised to stay with me tonight so I don't feel alone or weak or scared. For that I was grateful. And with all that was said and done Sannan went and told the others before going back to his duties after letting me know that I have the day off. So I waited for the night to come knowing that Sannan was going to be with me. Yet unaware of the danger that would befall me on the night of the new moon.
