"Let's play, Sonic, for keeps!" Eggman smirked.

Sonic smirked in return. "Fine by me, Eggman. Take your best shot!"

Eggman raised his missiles at the blue hedgehog. "Steady...ready...fire!"

With a push of a button, missiles launched from Eggman's ship, and Sonic zoomed down the building and sped right through the robots, which the missiles crashed into.

Decoe let out a sigh as he watched the whole thing. "I have heard of a Sonic Boom, but this is ridiculous!"

After the last few robots were destroyed, Sonic zoomed up the building and launched himself at Eggman's battle ship. Looking down, he realized how far away he was from the ship and how high he was, and he started flailing around in fright. After trying to run through the air, he gave up and shrugged, and allowed himself to fall.

"Sonic!" Penny cried from below, frightened for her friend. Beside her, Amy showed the same amount of worry. "Oh, no! He can't reach Eggman's ship!"

Tails turned to Chris, looking devastated. "We need the X Tornado to help him, but it's back home!"

"Now what do we do?" Penny whimpered, hugging herself. "We'll never get there in time!"

The sound of a car horn got their attention, and they turned around to see none other than Chris's Uncle Sam driving up with a smile. "You need a lift?"

"Uncle Sam!" Chris cheered.

Once they got in, Uncle Sam started driving at full speed, causing the passengers to yelp and hold on to something or each other for dear life.

"I'll get you guys home in a flash!" Sam announced. "Buckle up for safety!"

He was driving at full speed, which wasn't appealing to the other passengers. Penny and Tails whimpered, clinging to each other as the car zoomed down the road.

As for Sonic, Eggman started sending off robots to track him down. The blue hedgehog quickly zoomed around town and hid in an alley, and just as he planned, they zoomed off without even looking into his hiding ally.

He glanced over his shoulder at the sight of the robots, avoided their fire, and zoomed off again.

Eggman hooted, pleased at the sight. "My Falcon robots all come with special speed-seeking detectors! Sonic is running to his doom."

Sonic glanced up, an idea popping up. He quickly sped back until he was next door to one of the robots, and hopped on it, riding it like a horse. He used this to take him straight to Eggman's lair, and Eggman's mouth dropped open at the sight, and he clutched his head. "IT CAN'T BE!"

Decoe glanced at Eggman. "You can blow Sonic out of the sky if you order those falcons to self-destruct!"

Eggman smirked. "Excellent idea!" He pressed a button, and just as he planned, the robots exploded, and Sonic was once again falling. He gritted his teeth and used all he could to latch on to Eggman's ship. However, the ship didn't have any ridges or spikes for him to hang on to, and he felt himself slipping, causing a loud screeching sound to echo through the city.

It was even bothering Eggman. "Sonic's a pain in the ears! Stop it! Cut it out!"

Eventually, Sonic became out of breath, and he once again tumbled to the ground, but luckily he landed feet first on the nearest roof.

Robots suddenly surrounded him, and Sonic quickly dodged their fire.

Chris glanced at his uncle pleadingly as the speedster zoomed through town. "Hey, do you think you could slow down a bit?"

Sam shook his head, never lifting his gaze from the road. "Are you kidding?"

Penny glanced ahead and her eyes widened. "Look out!"

they glanced up to see robots zooming at them, and Penny yelped as the car skidded off track before stopping. She closed her eyes and clung to Tails as the robots surrounded them...

...but nothing happened.

Curious, she glanced up to see Mr. Stewart on the car hood, using a mirror to block the missile blasts. The blasts bounced off the mirror, destroying the robots instantly.

Penny glanced at Mr. Stewart with wide eyes. "He's awesome..."

Chris glanced at her in surprise. "What?"

She quickly averted everyone's gaze. "Nothing!"

Chris chuckled and popped up at his teacher. "Thanks, Mr. Stewart!"

Mr. Stewart smiled. "No problem! Are you all okay?"

Sam walked up, his eyes wide with surprise. "Hey, I know you!"

"Yes," Mr. Stewart nodded. "we met at a party at Chris's house. I'm his teacher, Mr. Stewart."

Sam pumped his fists. "Yeah, I remember now! I forget fast, but I remember 'em even faster!"

"And I believe you're Chris's uncle, Mr..."

"Mr.' is what they call my dad. Just call me Sam!"

"HEY!"

The two men stopped talking and turned to Amy, who was looking impatient. "Aren't you forgetting we have to get something?"

"The X Tornado!" Tails added.

Sam nodded. "Yeah, that's right. Let's go!" He pushed Mr. Stewart to the car. "Hey, where are we going?"

"Get in!" Sam responded. Mr. Stewart hopped in, followed by Sam, and drove off as fast as he could. Hearing whirring, the pink hedgehog looked up to see the robots glaring at them, and she paled instantly. "Look out!" Penny yelped as the robots surrounded the car.

"Sam, speed up!" Chris yelped, clinging to the female hedgehog as the drones seemed to glare at them. Mr. Stewart, who was squished in between them, grunted as he tried digging in his pocket for his mirror. "Can't reach my mirror...!"

The machines beeped, and Chris and Penny yelped, clinging to each other in fear. "They're gonna fire!" The two cried in sync.

the sound of metal smashing against metal was heard, and the two opened their eyes to see that Mr. Tanaka had arrived with the X Tornado, much to Penny's relief. She glanced up at the man's smiling face.

"All right!" Chris cheered.

"You bought the X Tornado!" Tails added, happily surprised.

Sonic darted across the rooftops, dodging the blasts that shot out of the robot's guns. Something whooshed near him, and the hedgehog glanced up to see the X Tornado close behind. He grinned widely.

"The X Tornado!"

Sonic hopped into the air, and Penny shot him a ring. The hedgehog caught it, and smashed the robots with ease. He landed on top of the Tornado, and they flew up close to Eggman's ship.

"GET THEM NOW!" Eggman roared, displeased on what was before his eyes. "BLAST AWAY!"

The missiles aimed, and fired.

Thankfully, Tails was such a fast and talented driver that the kitsune managed to dodge every single one of the missiles.

And watching the whole thing from his office window was the mayor. His eyes were wide with amazement. "It's Sonic!"

He yelped and dodged the window just as Eggman's laser ray smashed against the building.

"We can't fight here!" Chris pointed out, glancing at the buildings below in worry. "The buildings will get wrecked!"

"Chris is right, Sonic!" Tails said, giving the hedgehog a worried look. "We have to get Eggman away from the city somehow!"

Sonic nodded, an idea popping up in his mind. "Right! Leave it to me!"

Tails flew the Tornado as close as he could to Eggman's ship. And of course, the robots fired, but once again Tails used his skills to dodge the missiles.

Penny burst into giggles when Sonic began taunting Eggman.

"I've had it with that hog!" Eggman sneered as the Tornado made a hasty getaway. "That's the last time he'll tease me! MOVE IT! TURN THIS SHIP AROUND AND GO AFTER SONIC!"

"What chance does he have against Sonic?" Decoe moaned, shaking his head.

Bocoe shrugged. "I estimate his chance of defeating Sonic at zero."

As for the mayor, when the smoke cleared, he staggered out, covered head to toe in smoke. "Could somebody please call housekeeping?" He whimpered.

As the X Tornado continued flying, Sonic glanced behind him, really pleased with the result...Eggman was tailing them. "It worked!"

"Man, that man has anger issues..." Penny mumbled with a shake of her head.

The guns fired.

"Charge up the blaster cannons!" Eggman ordered.

The blaster cannon sparked, and at Eggman's command, the missile shot through the cannon, right at the direction of the X Tornado. Thankfully, Tails managed to make a rare escape, zooming as far ahead as he could just as the missile hit the water, creating a huge geyser. This had Eggman think he finally got that pesky blue hedgehog and his friends, but before he could cheer in victory, the geyser plopped down, revealing that the X Tornado had survived. However, the water had gotten the machinery wet, and Tails began sweating with worry as he glanced at the busted machine. "The energy's circuit got fried! We're in trouble!"

"What's wrong?!" Penny cried, glancing over Tails's shoulder.

"In a few seconds, we'll lose power!" Tails exclaimed, eyes wide. "And then we're gonna be sitting ducks!"

"That doesn't look good..." Penny whimpered, clutching her controls with wide eyes.

Eggman smirked hopefully at the X Tornado, an evil glint in his eyes. "I won't miss Sonic this time! Get ready for another blast!"

The robots quickly darted around the ship, and stopped for a breather. "I could use an oil change..." Decoe moaned.

"We take care of other robots, but who takes care of us?" Bocoe sighed.

The two jumped in fright as Eggman shoved his nose at them. "GET MOVING!"

"So the X Tornado could only fly at full speed for a few more seconds?" Sonic asked the fox.

Tails nodded. "Yeah, if we're lucky!"

Sonic smirked. "Okay. Then you should fly full speed at the bridge!"

"Full speed?!" Penny yelped, glancing at the older hedgehog with wide eyes. "Sonic, that's just crazy! And risky!"

Sonic gave her a reassuring smile. "Trust me, this is our only chance!"

Tails gave Sonic a wary look, but took off as ordered.

"Is that blaster fired up yet?!" Eggman asked.

"Almost, doctor!" Decoe said.

Bocoe looked up. "Uh...it appears we have company!"

"Ooh?!"

Eggman glanced up, and he came face to face with the X Tornado. Eggman narrowed his eyes, clenching his fists. "What is this?!"

His eyes widened as Sonic raised his hands, and caught two gold rings. He closed his eyes.

"Hang on!" Tails ordered, and Penny grabbed her seat, curling up in a ball and closing her eyes as the fox continued. "Here we go!"

The X Tornado took off at full speed.

"Blow them away!" Eggman ordered.

"The cannon is still recharging!" Decoe cried.

Eggman shrieked.

Sonic jumped high into the air, and dashed towards Eggman's ship at full speed, dodging the missiles. Ignoring Eggman's screams, Sonic zoomed right through the heart of Eggman's battle ship.

Eggman jumped back as a burst of energy escaped from the bottom of the ship, and Bocoe glanced at him apologetically. "We have lost all of our controls, doctor!"

"We must abandon ship at once!" Decoe added.

"CURSE YOU, HEDGEHOG!" Eggman screamed. "I'LL GET YOU!"

A bright beam of light shot from Eggman's ship, and it exploded, falling into the water with a gigantic splash. Sonic hopped back onto the X Tornado, just in time to watch the battle ship sink deep into the water.

Tails landed the X Tornado on one of the army ships, and Chris shot the hedgehog a wide grin. "Great job, Sonic!"

"That was awesome!" Penny added, running up to the hedgehog and giving him a high five. "You sure taught Eggman a lesson!"

"And let's hope he learnt it." Sonic chuckled, wrapping an arm around her, surprising the girl for a moment. Penny chuckled, shaking it off as the two stared off at the geyser that was still going down.

"Well, we stopped Eggman again," Tails said. "But I bet he'll be back."

"Looks like we're going to be fighting against Eggman for a long time." Chris said in agreement. "He'll never surrender."

"You're right." Tails said in agreement. "Eggman's got plenty of tricks up his sleeve. This battle is only beginning!"

The four said nothing as they watched the geyser up ahead.
