Izuku was looking down at his notes before nodding in satisfaction. It was almost ready!

"Midoriya, are you sure this is going to work?"

The greenie looked up at his friends, Todoroki and Tokoyami, before answering.

"Positive! I even translated it from English to Japanese! All I need to do is get Kacchan to agree to help us!"

"I believe that is what Todoroki was referring to, Midoriya," stated Tokoyami as he crossed his arms. "We all know that Bakugou will not help anyone unless there's something in it for him."

"Also, why exactly are we doing this again?" asked Todoroki.

Izuku merely gave off a smile. "Leave Kacchan to me and we're doing this to send a message."

Some time later, down in the commons room, Bakugou and Kirishima were currently in the midst of a video game competition with Kirishima slightly ahead in wins, much to Bakugou's annoyance. The bomb boy's annoyance soon turned to anger when Izuku entered the room, muttering to himself. Before Bakugou could yell at the person he hated the most, Kirishima addressed him first.

"Yo, Midori-bro! What's up? Something wrong?" asked the redhead, looking concerned.

Izuku looked up in surprise before shaking his head. "Huh? No, nothing's wrong. I'm just working on a music project of sorts and I'm in need of a drummer for it."

Kirishima raised an eyebrow at this; confused and surprised that Midori-bro would be working on something involving music. Bakugou on the other hand scowled, knowing that Deku was going to ask for his help. Before he could tell him to fuck off though, Todoroki entered the room.

"Ah, Todoroki! You know how to play the drums, right? Can you help me with a project I'm working on?"

"I suppose I could. Would you like me to help now or later?"

Bakugou's mind went blank for a moment. Since when the hell could Icy Hot play the drums?! In fact, he asked just that.

"Hey Icy Hot! Since when the fuck can you play the drums?!" demanded the bomb boy as he glared hatefully at one of his "rivals".

"For quite awhile now, actually," replied Todoroki with his usual stoic visage. "In fact, I think I might be better than you at playing the drums."

A growl escaped from the ashy blond. "Like fucking hell you can! Fucking Deku! Whatever you need a drummer for, you better pick me, got it?!"

Emerald green eyes lit up in happiness as Izuku gave off a beaming smile. "Really, Kacchan?! Thanks! Is that okay with you, Todoroki?"

The half and half boy just shrugged. "I don't have a problem with it."

"Great!" exclaimed Izuku, happy with this outcome. He then turned back to Bakugou with a slight grin that the bomb boy could have sworn was just slightly cocky. "Meet us at the off-campus junkyard in half an hour."

With that, Izuku was off, followed by Todoroki, who gave Bakugou a smirk. It was then that Bakugou realized that he was tricked. Anger built up in him, but before he could yell at the two, Kirishima intervened.

"I think it's really manly of you to help out Midori-bro and Todo-broki like that, Baku-bro!" exclaimed Kirishima with a sharp-toothed grin.

Bakugou grit his teeth in anger. Damn Shitty Hair! Now he can't back out without him crying and bitching about how "unmanly" it was to break a promise!

'I'm going to get you for this, Deku!' thought Bakugou as he dragged Kirishima to his room to help gather his drum set.

-:-

It was two weeks later and Class 1-A was at Kiyomizuyama Park…or at least MOST of Class 1-A was at Kiyomizuyama Park.

"Where could Deku-kun be?" questioned Ochaco as she searched for her friend.

"Yes, where could he be? He was the one who suggested we come here for today and it is quite rude to not be here!" stated Iida as he moved his arms in a robotic manner.

"Tokoyami and Todoroki seem to be missing as well, gero," added Tsuyu, placing her finger near her chin and her tongue slightly out.

"Don't forget that Bakugou's not here either," said the fluffy alien of the group. She turned to the redhead. "Kiri! You should know where Bakugou is, right?"

"Ah, I'm sure Baku-bro and the others will be here soon," replied Kirishima with a grin.

Black and gold eyes narrowed. "You know something! Spill the beans, Kiri!"

Kyouka rolled her eyes as she listened to Mina try and get answers from Kirishima before she turned to her best friend, who looked worried.

"I'm sure Todoroki is okay, Yaomomo."

The rich girl's face became slightly red. "I am not worried. I know very well that Todoroki-kun can take care of himself."

A teasing grin appeared on Kyouka's face. "Sure you're not."

She let out a slight giggle when the peach pouted.

There was then a sudden explosion of smoke, causing everyone in the area to yell out in surprise. Instead of running in a panic though, everyone became confused when the smoke dissipated and where there was once a clearing was…

"Is that a stage?" questioned Sero, he and the rest of his class wondering what the hell was going on.

Indeed. There was now a stage standing before everyone. Another explosion of smoke happened on stage and when this one dissipated, there stood Izuku with a microphone, Todoroki with a keyboard, Tokoyami with his guitar, and Bakugou with his drums. The rest of Class 1-A stared in wide-eyed shock.

"What the hell?!" they exclaimed.

Without saying a word, Izuku turned to his current band mates and nodded, signaling them to start. As the music played for a few seconds, the jaws of Class 1-A dropped when Izuku opened his mouth.

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams

Been haunted by a million screams

But I can hear the marching feet

They're moving into the street

Now did you read the news today?

They say the danger's gone away

But I can see the fire's still alight

They're burning into the night.

There's too many men, too many people

Making too many problems

And not much love to go round

Can't you see this is a land of confusion?

This is the world we live in (Oh, oh, oh)

And these are hand we're given (Oh, oh, oh)

Use them and let's start trying (Oh, oh, oh)

To make it a place worth living in

"Since when can Midoriya sing?!" squeaked out Hagakure as she and the others stared wide-eyed.

"Like seriously, what the hell?!" exclaimed Kaminari.

While they continued to watch the mini-concert, one girl was completely entranced.

'Wh-Why has Midoriya been hiding this from us?!' thought Kyouka, feeling something stirring in her chest. She blushed slightly as she thought of Izuku singing a serenade to her. 'Kyah! N-No! I m-mean, sure he is kinda cute, b-but this voice…not like it would matter anyway. Why would he want someone unfeminine and with no curves like me?'

She tried to shake away the negative thoughts that invaded her mind. But still, she needed more of his singing and got it when Izuku continued.

Ooh, Superman, where are you now

When everything's gone wrong somehow?

The men of steel, the men of power

Are losing control by the hour

This is the time, this is the place

So we look for the future

But there's not much love to go round

Tell me why this is a land of confusion

This is the world we live in (Oh, oh, oh)

And these are the hands we're given (Oh, oh, oh)

Use them and let's start trying (Oh, oh, oh)

To make it a place worth living in

As the song was approaching the bridge, Kyouka was starting to breathe a little heavier as her sight was locked onto Izuku. She didn't think it was possible for someone who was not a professional to have a voice this amazing!

Unbeknownst to Kyouka, a certain anti-gravity girl noticed her staring and narrowed her eyes on the music enthusiast.

'She better not be thinking what I think she's thinking,' thought Ochaco, clenching her fists.

I remember long ago

Ooh, when the sun was shining

Yes and the stars were bright all through the night

And the sound of your laughter as I held you tight

So long ago…

Kyouka blushed brightly as she thought of being in Izuku's strong arms. 'No! Stop it, Kyouka! I don't know what this song is, but it's clear that it's NOT a love song! And even if it was, there's no way in hell that it would be dedicated to you, so stop it!'

I won't be coming home tonight

My generation will put it right

We're not just making promises

That we know we'll never keep

Too many men, there's too many people

Making too many problems

And not much love to go round

Can't you see this is a land of confusion?

Now this is the world we live in (Oh, oh, oh)

And these are the hands we're given (Oh, oh, oh)

Use them and let's start trying (Oh, oh, oh)

To make it a place worth fighting for

This is the world we live in (Oh, oh, oh)

And these are the names we're given (Oh, oh, oh)

Stand up and let's start showing (Oh, oh, oh)

Just where our lives are going to

The last few notes of music played and once the song ended, the crowd that gathered burst into cheers. Izuku felt proud of this accomplishment. He just hoped the people actually LISTENED. He and the others then made their way off the stage and the moment he reached the ground he was almost knocked over by a purple blur. The greenie had to steady himself to keep him and the purplette from falling over, so he planted his feet into the ground and subconsciously placed his hands on her hips.

"Why the hell have you been keeping this talent a secret, Izuku?!" demanded Kyouka with a narrowed look, unknowingly using his given name.

He gulped nervously as emerald green eyes stared into amethyst purple eyes that demanded answers.

"I-It's not like I've always b-been able to s-sing. I only started p-practicing three m-months ago."

'Three months ago?! And he's this good?!' thought the rocker girl in shock. "What about that song? It was amazing! Did you write it yourself?"

"I'm n-not that t-talented," replied Izuku, glancing away with a slight blush. "N-No, th-that song is actually f-from the Pre-Quirk Era."

"…What? A song like that came from the Pre-Quirk Era?"

"H-Hai. Ano, I actually have a collection of songs from the Pre-Quirk Era if you'd like to listen to them, J-Jirou-san."

Her eyes sparkled in excitement. If the song Izuku sang was any indication, she was in for a treat.

"Dude! That was awesome!" exclaimed Kaminari as he and the rest of the class finally made it through the crowd to meet their classmates. "What possessed you guys to do this?!"

"You will have to ask Midoriya. It was his idea," replied Tokoyami.

The rest of the class turned to the resident cinnamon roll. While they focused on Izuku, Ochaco on the other hand was glaring at Kyouka, who was still latched onto Izuku with his hands still on her hips.

With the attention on him, Izuku blushed slightly. "W-Well, I was trying to send a message with the song."

"A message?" questioned Iida, raising an eyebrow.

"H-Hai. When I first heard the song I noticed how relevant it was in today's age, despite being from the Pre-Quirk Era. My hope is that people actually listened to the lyrics and start making the world a better place, especially since we know that there are plenty of Pros out there who only care about themselves."

"I'm just glad you guys were able to pull it off," stated Kirishima with his signature sharp-toothed grin. "Of course I already knew you guys would from watching your practice sessions."

That caused Mina give the redhead a pouty glare. "So you WERE in on it, Kiri! How could you keep that a secret?!"

"The Bro Code demands I keep the secrets of my bros unless it's something really bad!"

While Mina tried to "punish" Kirishima, Tsuyu turned to the small band. "Is there anyone else who knew about this?"

"…Hatsume," replied Izuku, glancing away.

At the mention of her name, the pink-haired inventor crawled out from under the stage with a happy smile on her face.

"Ha! Glad to see my baby get the job done!"

Confused, Class 1-A turned to the band.

"Midoriya asked Hatsume to build the stage, saying that she would be the only one who could build it in the timeframe we had," explained Todoroki.

Tokoyami crossed his arms over his chest. "I must admit, I don't think we would have pulled this off without Hatsume's help."

"Glad to be of service!" exclaimed the young inventor, beaming.

"You know what would really be cool?" started Kaminari, looking excited. "We should totally have a battle of the bands between Jirou's band and Midoriya's band!"

At Kaminari's suggestion, Bakugou scowled, Todoroki and Tokoyami glanced at each other, Izuku looked confused, and Kyouka just stared at the electric boy with a blank look.

"Ano, Kaminari? How exactly would we be able to do that if Tokoyami and Kacchan are in both bands?" questioned Izuku.

"…Oh."

"At least you tried, Jamming Yay," replied Kyouka with her signature sarcasm.

"One last question!" chirped the fluffy alien, having given up on trying to hurt Kirishima. Right now, her romance senses were tingling. "How long have Midori and Kyouka-chan been dating?!"

"Huh?" questioned the shy couple in confusion. They then looked at each other, finally noticing the position they were in and their faces becoming red.

Now both blushing up a storm, Izuku and Kyouka jumped away from each other, letting out a yelp and squeak respectively. They now stood a few feet apart from each other, refusing to look each other, as Izuku stood stiff as a board and Kyouka tapped her earphone jacks together in a shy manner.

Before the two could deny the pink one's accusations though…

"Izuku!"

The greenie jumped slightly at the unexpected, yet familiar voice that called out to him. Turning to where it came from, his eyes widened when he saw not only his mother of all people making her way over, but All Might, Kacchan's parents, Todoroki's family, and some of their teachers as well.

Izuku was about to ask why they were there, but his former childhood friend beat him to the punch.

"What the hell are you doing here, old hag?!" demanded the ashy blond as he glared at his mother.

This of course earned him a knock to the head from said mother, who glared right back. "Don't take that tone with me, Katsuki!"

Shouto turned to his family. "Seriously, why are you here?"

"We saw your little concert on TV, Shouto, and wanted to come down to see you," stated Rei with a kind smile, with Fuyumi and Natsuo nodding in agreement.

The four boys had blank looks on their faces as they processed what was just said. Izuku then took lead. "W-Wait, you saw what we did on TV?"

"That's right, Izuku! Why didn't you tell me you could sing like that?!" squeaked out Inko, as she brought her son into a hug and Toshinori proudly ruffled the boy's fluffy hair.

"B-But how did it even get on TV in the first place?!" demanded Izuku, wondering what the hell was going on.

"Oh, that was me!" exclaimed Hatsume with a grin, gaining Izuku's attention. "You mentioned that you were going to send a message with your concert, so I took the liberty to have the stage broadcast it on every TV set in the city!"

While Hatsume continued to stand there in pride, Izuku felt as if his soul left his body. Yes, he set up this mini-concert to send a message, but to have the ENTIRE city of Shizuoka watch it? He wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing.

"You really are a Problem Child, you know that?" stated Aizawa as he looked at his student, earning looks from Inko and Toshinori and causing Mic and Midnight to roll their eyes.

A groan was then heard, causing everyone to turn to Kyouka, who was hiding her face in her hands.

"I-Is something wrong, J-Jirou-san?" asked Izuku, worried for the girl.

When she took her hands away, a grimace was on her face. "If everyone in the city saw the concert, we're about to have two more people arriving in 3…2…1…"

"Kyouka!"

Another groan escaped Kyouka as she heard the voice of the embarrassing blond that was her father. Looking over her shoulder, she saw both her father and mother making their way over to the group.

With a sigh, Kyouka looked at her parents with a narrowed look. "Let me guess, you guys saw the concert on TV?"

"Of course, Kyouka," replied Mika with a smile. "Although we were surprised when it interrupted the program we were watching, we were amazed by what we heard."

"Yeah, why didn't you tell us one of your classmates was also this talented, Kyouka?" questioned Kyoutoku.

Kyouka started twirling one of her earphone jacks around her finger. "I k-kinda found out about it just now, to be honest."

The musical family turned to Izuku, but his insecurities took over as he started to shake slightly and avoided eye contact. "I'm n-not th-that g-good."

Luckily, someone else had a different opinion.

"I think it was pretty great, little listener!" exclaimed Present Mic as he came over and patted the greenie on the shoulder in reassurance. "I also think you and your friends have what it takes to go pro!"

That caused the greenie to blush at the praise, while Shouto and Tokoyami each raised an eyebrow and Bakugou let out a scoff.

"I'm s-sure I speak f-for all of us wh-when I say w-we'd rather focus on b-becoming pro heroes," stuttered out Izuku, with Shouto and Tokoyami nodding in agreement. "B-Besides, J-Jirou-san is way m-more t-talented at th-this th-then m-me."

It was the shy rocker's turn to blush at the praise as she started to tap her earphone jacks together in a shy manner once more. It didn't help that her mom was giggling and that her dad was starting to give Izuku the stink eye. She was about to say something, but of course the fluffy alien just had to speak up.

"Such a gentleman, aren't you, Midori~ Praising your girlfriend like that," stated Mina with a teasing grin.

Now both shy heroes-in-training were blushing up a storm at the accusation. Off to the side, Inko's eyes were glistening with tears, as she was happy that her baby had a girlfriend. Kyoutoku (as well as Ochaco) looked ready to commit murder, while Mika was already making plans on meeting the boy who had captured her daughter's heart.

"W-We're not dating!" exclaimed Kyouka, causing the mothers to frown and her father to do a mental victory dance.

"Th-That's right!" added Izuku. He then, because of his insecurities, started to mutter. "Besides, why would someone as cute and cool and beautiful as Jirou-san want anything to do with someone as plain as me?"

Now for those who knew Izuku well enough have learned how to decipher his mutterings and couldn't help but frown at how he put himself down. Inko especially wanted to bring her son into a big hug and try to make him feel better.

Kyouka, thanks to her enhanced hearing, could tell what he said no problem. Her blush became brighter when he called her beautiful, but she was also hurt by how he thought he wasn't good enough for someone like her. If anything, she thought she wasn't good enough for HIM, someone who was so passionate about becoming a hero that he inspired her to train harder.

Without thinking, one of her earphone jacks snaked its way towards Izuku and wrapped around his arm, allowing her to pull him towards her, much to the surprise of everyone there.

"I changed my mind," murmured out the red-faced rocker girl as she held onto the arm of the red-faced greenie and stood as close to him as possible. "And you're not plain, Izuku-kun. You're r-really c-cute and h-handsome, if I'm b-being honest."

As Izuku's brain tried to reboot itself with this new development, he was unaware of what was going on around him. Inko was about to release a tidal wave of tears in happiness, but luckily Mitsuki and Toshinori quickly turned her away from where any people were beforehand. Mina and Tooru let out squeals of joy, while Momo was happy for her best friend and her new relationship. The heiress kept taking quick glances towards Shouto, in hopes that one day she could have something similar with him. The rest of the class (minus one anti-gravity girl, one explosive boy, and one grapist) was giving their congratulations to the new couple.

"Alright, if you're all done now," started Aizawa, gaining his students' attention. "It's time to head back to UA. Midoriya, we'll be discussing about this little stunt of your when we get back."

This once again earned him looks from Inko and Toshinori, while Mitsuki turned to Midnight.

"Does he always have a stick up his ass?" asked the explosive woman.

"Unfortunately, yes," replied the Rated R hero as she gave her former kohai a scolding look, to which he tried to ignore.

The first to leave was Bakugou with a scoff. He'd rather be anywhere else, away from these extras. Unfortunately for him he was followed by the rest of the Bakusquad, plus Hagakure, all of them trying to get him to talk about the concert.

Next to head back was Tokoyami, with Tsuyu, Shoji, Kouda, Aoyama, and a sulking Mineta. Shouto, who was talking with Momo, Iida, Satou, Ojirou, and his siblings, the latter two wanting to know when their little brother learned how to play the keyboard, followed them. Ochaco trailed slightly behind them in a zombie-like trance, wondering how she lost Deku-kun the way she did. So into her trance, she didn't notice that Hatsume was walking next to her working on a gadget.

This left Izuku and Kyouka on their own, with the adults taking up the rear to talk about the concert, although Inko and Mika also talked about their children's new relationship, much to Kyoutoku's chagrin.

As they walked, the shy couple kept glancing at each other, quickly looking away should they make eye contact. After a few moments of tense silence, Izuku decided to gather up his courage to speak.

"Y-You know," he started, gaining the purplette's attention. "Wh-When I came up with this idea, I never expected to get a g-girlfriend at the end of it."

A shy smile appeared on Kyouka's face. "How do you think I feel? I wasn't really expecting to get a b-boyfriend t-today."

Izuku returned the shy smile as he rubbed the back of his head with his free hand. "Y-Yeah. Ano, J-Jirou-san, if w-we're t-together now, w-would you l-like to g-go out on a d-date n-next S-Sunday?"

With a blush, the shy rocker held onto the hero fanboy's arm a little tighter. "I'd like that, Izuku-kun, but call me Kyouka from now on, okay?"

"R-Right…Kyouka."

She could feel happiness swell in her chest as she snuggled a bit closer to her new boyfriend. She then decided to ask a question she had since the concert ended. "Izuku-kun, out of curiosity, do you plan on holding another concert? I'd really like to hear you sing again."

He rubbed the back of his head once more as a blush returned to his cheeks. "W-Well I d-did have another song with a message I'd like to perform, b-but I'd have to bring it up with the others and see if th-they'd be up for it."

"Oh yeah? What's the song called?" asked Kyouka, looking up at the greenie with a slight tilt of her head.

"Dirty Laundry," he replied. Seeing her confusion, he explained. "It's about how most news media tend to care only for ratings over what's important. For example, they could be covering a story about how people died in an accident, but you can tell that the newscaster doesn't actually care about the victims. This is unfortunately very common and needs to stop."

A slight grin appeared on Kyouka's face. "Going after the corrupt. Just like the hero you truly are."

He blushed at the praise and burned even brighter when she stood on her tiptoes to place a kiss on his cheek. Unbeknownst to the shy couple, their conversation was overheard by the parents and teachers. While Aizawa was pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration that only his Problem Child could cause, the mothers were rightfully worried that their respective children would be biting off more than they could chew. Inko then turned to the retired hero, slight fear in her eyes.

"T-Toshi…"

"…I'll have a talk with the boys once we return to UA," replied the tall blond, also worried about what could happen.

He'd be damned if his boy's future career as a hero was ruined because of some pompous newscaster.

This was supposed to go up LAST YEAR, but I hit a writer's block with this a few times after the concert scene. At least it's done now.

Anyway, despite being over thirty-years-old, "Land of Confusion" is still relevant in the current years considering everything that have been going on. And considering what's goin on in the MHA manga, it is DEFINITELY relevant now.

I might make more Singer!Izuku stories that follow this one, but they would have to be rock or metal songs I can picture Izuku being able to pull off. Certain songs, like anything from AC/DC, are an automatic no because the voice is too distinct to the song and wouldn't sound right without that voice. Strangely, though, I can see him singing Ozzy songs easily.
