"I wonder how you the daughter of a killer could be in such a beautiful house" Lily argued.
And with that, it seemed that Belle could not hate her more. The Death Eater's daughter immediately exchanged place with Tiana Malcolm, looking extremely mad. Nicholas snickered while Lily straightened her back with a smug smile on her face, seeming satisfied with her conversation with the wannabe Gryffindor and reported her attention to Professor McGonagall who was doing her welcome speech Lily had so much heard about.
"And you should know that Filch has asked me to tell you that products from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes will be confiscated and the Forbidden Forest is still off-limit." the headmistress said eyeing particularly James and Lexi who both shrugged while the rest of the students laughed.
"May the Welcome Feast begin" added the headmistress with a smile. Lily had never seen so many things she liked to eat on one table: roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamb chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roasted potatoes, fries, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, ketchup, and, for some strange reason, peppermint humbugs.
While she was staring and admiring the meal, Nic was already engulfing the food.
"Ew, stop eating like a pig, "Lily exclaimed
-"Itch not my faulch if I am hungry"The greedy boy continued.
-"Talk to me when you are done eating "the girl finished a little bit annoyed.
Nic shrugged and continued eating at the same speed whereas Lily was carefully choosing her food: roasted chicken, carrots and lamb chops along with some boiled potatoes. It seemed like someone had magically guessed that they were all full since the food has disappeared as soon as they were not hungry anymore
Professor McGonagall stood up and told the prefects to escort the first years to their dormitories. Their names were Mary Pierce and Cole Johnson. The Gryffindor prefects escorted them to their dormitories and they were informed that the Password was Devils Snare and the boys were to follow Cole while the girls were showed their dormitories by Mary. Since she did not want to sleep yet as the giddiness s of finally coming to Hogwarts had not yet worn out, she wanted to know her roommates. They were Tiana Malcolm, Gaby Netia and unfortunately Belle Zabini. Lily spoke with Tiana and Gaby for a while, a bit later the girls changed into their pyjamas and went to sleep.
The next morning, Lily quickly got dressed up into her black robe, took her bag and wand and got downstairs where Nic was impatiently waiting for her. After some time they were done and Professor Creevey their head of house who was also their Defense against Dark Arts teacher distributed their timetable.
"Great, we have Transfiguration first with Professor Marchbanks," Nic said with a tinge of excitement in his voice.
-" James told me that it was the most interesting subject here" Lily replied as excitedly as the young boy.
"Good morning everyone! Welcome to your first Transfiguration class. I am Professor Marchbanks. Transfiguration is one of the if not the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone found messing around in my class will be asked to leave and not come back. You have been " Professor Marchbanks said in a breathy voice. "Transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another. For example, I can transfigurate this table into a pig" matching her words with the action she transfiguration the table of one of the students sitting in the front. "Furthermore the opposite of transfiguration would be Untransfiguration which means returning the object to its proper form" and with a swift movement of her wand the pig became a table again
"Now I will ask you to watch carefully how I turn this match into a needle" she continued " if you have seen carefully how I did it then you will surely be able to do the same, I do not want to hear any complaining as this exercise is one of the most simple one which exists in transfiguration. Let's not forget that this has been done for more centuries than I can count. Now begin" she finished in a dry tone
After having listened carefully, all students were eager to begin. Unfortunately, their excitement about the spell was quickly washed away when they had to do the spell. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Lily was forced to admit that Transfiguration was not her cup of tea. It was not anyone's cup of tea, she observed.
Professor Marchbanks seemed to have seen the same since she growled in frustration, at seeing her students incapable of mastering such a simple concept. She was probably wondering how those silly children would be able to understand how to convert a table into a pig if they could not turn a matchstick into a needle.
Fortunately, Lily was freed from that complicated nightmare by the bell.
