Chapter 10 Training P2

Forest…

The Pershing was in the forest searching for enemies. Moving slowly, Ryan was looking around outside his cupola. Tapping Jimmy right shoulder with his foot to get him to turn right. Then going down the hatch, closing it and taking a seat.

"Ryan I'm bored, can't I just shoot the ground," said Emma bored.

"No Emma, that would reveal our position," said Ryan.

"She's right lad, we've been driving around for almost 45 minutes," said Bram.

"Maybe it's your bad directions," said Jimmy.

"My directions? I tapped your left shoulder to go left towards a hill and you go right into the forest," said Ryan.

"Well sorry partner, still getting used to the idea of being tapped on the shoulder while driving," said Jimmy.

Then they could hear booming noises nearby. "Did you all hear that?" asked Bram.

"What?" asked Jimmy.

More Booms could be heard. "Turn left, drive to the sound of the guns," ordered Ryan.

"Finally some action," said Emma. "Forward!"

"Right! Let's see what she's got," said Jimmy going as fast as possible.

Observation Tower…

The Pershing was moving as fast as it could, being observed by a pair of binoculars. "Seems there in a hurry," said Allen.

"Look over at the bridge," said Ami looking in her binoculars.

Allen moved his binoculars, "well I'll be, it seems that four tanks are forming a temporary alliance against the Panzer IV," said Allen.

"There situation is precarious," said Ami.

"Indeed, enemies at their six and twelve, how will this Miho get out of this," said Allen. "I should get the rescue team on standby, looks like that tanks going to tip over."

"There fine," said Ami.

"Looks like their driver is out," said Allen. He could see the girls were quickly moving their driver into the co-driver seat. "Someone is going to have to drive."

Then he saw the Panzer IV began to move backwards, "whoa, someone driving well."

"Told you their fine," said Ami as they witnessed the Panzer moving forward on the bridge.

Bridge…

Inside the Panzer IV, Mako was picked up earlier after she was found sleeping in the field and was now a part of the crew and took over driving after Hana was knocked out.

As the tank drove forward, the shaking and rumbling woke Hana up, "are you alright?" asked Miho.

"I'm fine," said Hana.

"Akiyama, rotate the turret," ordered Miho.

"Roger that," said Yukari.

"Hurry and turn it!" said Saori a bit panicked. "Shoot them before they shoot us!"

"Right," replied Yukari.

"Prepare to fire," said Miho finishing loading a round. "FIRE!"

The Panzer IV fired managing to destroy the Assault III.

Wow was some of the reactions in the tank. They all felt the power of the gun.

"My ears are ringing," said Yukari.

"That felt kind of good," said Hana.

Observation Tower…

"Hm, that was good work," said Allen.

"C-Team down," said Ami. "That was good. Allen care to call the next one?"

"Why not," said Allen taking the radio. He watched as they were aiming at the Type-89. "B-Team down," said Allen.

Then he watched the 38T advance, "damn they have shot, shoot damn it," muttered Allen. Only to see the Panzer IV managing to rotate it's turret and took out the 38T. "that's what you get when you hesitate," he sighed.

Then he observed the Lee trying to retreat, he could not blame them, it was wise, but he witnessed their blunder as they overexerted their tracks causing them to snap off. "Well, overall they need work," said Allen.

"Yes, but it's not over yet Allen," said Ami.

"Oh right, soon as they cross the bridge they will need to watch their nine," said Allen.

Bridge…

The Panzer IV finished it's crossing and then made a stop. "We took out 4 tanks," said Yukari.

"I'd count only 3, one was by technicality," said Mako.

"The match isn't over yet. We still have one more tank," said Hana.

"Aw, where could they be!" said Saori.

BOOM!

Their entire tank began to shake. Miho realized quickly they weren't hit, the round was just near.

The Pershing was about 300 yards away, "Em, you missed," said Ryan.

"Calm down, I'll hit them with the next one," said Emma as Bram loaded another round.

"MOVE!" said Miho knowing it wouldn't take Emma long to adjust her shot.

BOOM!

She was right the next shot hit right where they were before.

"Damn, a perfect opportunity wasted," said Ryan.

Saori was a bit panicked, "where do we go!"

"Mako into the forest," said Miho.

"Hai," said Mako.

"After them Jim," said Ryan.

"Now we are in a goose chase," said Jimmy going after them.

Ryan knew that he must end this quickly, if not Miho would win, I this was the air it'd be the opposite.

"Miho what do we do?" asked Saori.

"Saori, switch with me," said Miho.

"Hai," said Saori as they both switch positions.

Miho went out the hatch to look around trying to formulate a plan. The 90mm gun was no joke. Looking around she saw plenty of thick areas of trees, which gave her an idea.

The Pershing came rolling into the forest after the Panzer IV, unfortunately lost them.

"Damn, lost them, stop," ordered Ryan. The Pershing came to a full stop. "Anyone got a plan to find them? Asking his crew.

Emma had no idea.

"I reckon we wait for her, I mean she can't run forever," suggested Jimmy.

"I disagree, we should go and find them," said Bram.

"Good idea sherlock, let go searching blind like bats," said Jimmy.

"Oh like how you say sitting pretty makes us a target," said Bram.

Both of them continued to argue, "alright enough," said Ryan. "Bram is right, we cannot just sit here."

"Why don't we just find some tracks," said Emma.

Ryan facepalmed himself, why did he not think of that, "ok Jim, let drive in their general location and find some tracks, then continue from there," said Ryan.

"Right," said Jimmy getting ready to move.

"AH! *KLANG*

"What the heck was that?" asked Emma.

"Maybe some animal hit our tank," suggested Jimmy.

"Better check it out real fast," said Ryan. "Bram?"

"I'm with ya," said Bram.

Both boys got out of the tank to check. Bram was the first to notice, "Hey, it's Archie," said Bram.

Ryan jumped down to see Archie on the ground out cold, he must've been the one to run into their tank, "well I guess we can't just leave him here, let's put him in the co-driver seat," said Ryan.

"I got him," said Bram picking Archie up no problem.

The three of them now back inside. "He has a we bump on his head," said Bram putting a wet towel over his head.

"Is he going to be ok?" asked Emma, as Jimmy got the tank moving.

"I think so," said Ryan.

"Hey I think he's coming to," said Bram.

"Mercy no more snowballs, mummy," said Archie waking up. Then a bump got him completely awake. "Huh, where am I!" he exclaimed.

"Inside a tank partner," said Jimmy.

"A tank? Must hit it when I thought I was being chased by them," said Archie.

"By whom?" asked Jimmy.

"Them," said Archie.

"Seriously, who is them?" asked Jimmy confused.

"When I mean them, I mean…" then he manage to see Emma.

"There's one!" exclaimed Archie.

"Me?" wondered Emma.

"Are you afraid of girls lad?" asked Bram.

"Yes," said Archie embarrassed.

"Wait, so you don't like girls?" asked Jimmy.

"No you yank, I like girls, I just have a fear of them," said Archie.

"Might I ask why?" asked Bram.

"Well…" he began.

BOOM!

The tank shook, "there here!" exclaimed Ryan.

The Pershing got hit, but was ok. The Panzer IV then turned and began to run away again. "After them!" said Ryan.

"Miporin what's the plan?" asked Yukari.

"Just wait for my order to fire, Mako keep driving forward, move side to side," said Miho.

"Hai," said Mako.

The Pershing made some shots, but kept missing, "there moving too well brother," said Emma unable to get a hit.

"Jimmy make sure to make those quick stops a bit better," said Ryan.

As the pursuit continued the Panzer IV got to a more opened space, Miho hit Make left shoulder to go left, "make it fast!" said Miho.

The Pershing stopped in the woods, seeing the Panzer IV move left it moved its turret left, "we got her now," said Emma. Then suddenly she realized that the turret was stuck.

Ryan seeing the danger as he saw the Panzer IV speed up coming around. "Quick other way!"

The Pershing's turret went the other way. It only made it halfway as the Panzer IV got behind the Pershing.

"FIRE!" ordered Miho. BOOM!

The Pershing took the full brunt and was flagged.

Observation Tower…

F-Team down," announced Ami.

"That was well played by the Panzer IV crew," said Allen. "The pilot needs help on his decision making, if he'd reverse there, he probably would've gotten out."

"Perhaps," said Ami, then picking up the intercom radio. "A-Team the IV wins, we'll dispatch someone to pick up all inoperable tanks. Members are to leave them and head back in."

Forest…

All the girls got out of IV, "what? We won?" said Saori.

"It looks that way," said Hana.

"Wow! Nishizumi-dono totally got us there!" said Yukari giving her a hug.

"I'm not sure won is apt," said Mako.

"Nah you wrong," said Jimmy as the Pershing crew came out to meet them, "you ladies did a fine job."

"It was barry," said Bram.

As the IV got down, Miho found herself once again in a tight embrace, "Miho you were amazing, let's do it again," said Emma.

"Emma, she can't breathe," said Ryan as Emma let go. "Good match Miho," said Ryan offering a hand.

"You did good for your first time Ryan," said Miho shaking his hand.

"I should've realized my surroundings, too used to the open air I guess," admitted Ryan.

"I'll teach you, you taught me some things about flying," said Miho.

"Um…" said Archie getting everyone's attention. "Which way is the garage?"

"That way I think," said Saori.

"Hey you were driving?" asked Emma.

"I was picked up on the way," said Mako.

"I could use a bath after all this," said Saori.

Bathhouse…

All the girls were relaxing in a hot bath, "That was more exciting than a guy telling you he loves you for the first time," said Saori.

"A guy told he loves you before?" asked Hana.

"Who was the guy?" asked Emma.

"My dad always says he loves me," said Saori.

"Not sure if that counts," said Emma.

"That was really exciting," said Hana.

"Yeah it was great!" said Yukari.

"I think the commander should be Miho," said Saori.

"Huh?" said Miho.

"We don't know much about tanks," said Hana.

"Nishizumi-dono knows what she's doing too, especially taking out the Pershing," said Yukari.

"You should Miho," said Emma.

"I-I do?" wondered Miho. "But I really don't…"

"Come on Miho, your new friends believe in you," said Emma. "You can do it!"

"Please" said the other three girls.

Miho sat there in the hot water for a second, then "r-right, I'll do it!"

"Whoa hear that guys, Miho's going to be the commander," said Jimmy.

"That's good news, congratulations Miho," said Ryan.

"EEEEEKKKKK!" they all began to scream.

"BROTHER YOU PERV!"

"Can you all calm down, we're on the other side of the wall," said Ryan.

"Huh?" said Miho.

"Oh right, wall," said Emma. A wooden wall separating the boy and girl bath.

"Besides I bet you are all beautiful," said Jimmy.

"Jimmy! There you go again," said Emma.

"Can I have a break," said Jimmy.

"Don't make me come over there," said Emma.

"Okay, okay, sheesh," said Jimmy.

"Guess will get into our own conversation for now," said Ryan.

The boys moved away from the wooden wall, though Ryan could claim Jimmy was looking for a way to peep, it was hard to tell, though Bram might have been trying too.

Ryan then brought the conversation to Archie, "so Archie you're afraid of girls?"

"It all started when I was viciously attacked," said Archie darkly.

This got everyone interested.

(Overreactive Imagination)

"Back during a cold day outside London, I just wanted to enjoy the snow and build Frosty the Snowman. Then I was attacked, several girls, their horns, their red eyes. They pounded mercilessly with snowballs. I barley manage to getaway."

(Reality)

"AH!" running like hell.

"We only threw a few," said one girl.

"Overreactive," said another.

(Bath)

"That's how it happened," finished Archie. Then he looked around and noticed the three other guys covering their mouths trying to contain their laughter. "Hey not funny!"

"Really man, they were probably just funnin with you," said Jimmy.

"Sorry lad, it's just…," said Bram trying not to laugh.

"The most ridiculous story ever," said Ryan.

"Very funny," said Archie a bit steamed.

"In all seriousness partner, we are going to help you get over your fear," said Jimmy.

"Of course, you want to marry someday right?" said Bram.

Archie stood still for a moment, then sniffled a bit.

"Come on man, don't cry on us," said Ryan.

"Sorry, it's just, thank you guys," said Archie.

"By the ways, maybe you ought to join us," said Bram.

"We could use someone to fill the radio and co-driver seat," said Jimmy.

"Sensha-do might make you more confident," said Ryan.

"Alright, I'll do it," said Archie.

"Good, tomorrow I shall give you some first steps," said Jimmy.

Ryan could only look down with an oh no look.

Ooarai Academy, Hallway…

The four boys were going to their locker to collect some textbooks for their last class. "Oh yea, so ready for practice," said Jimmy enthusiastically.

"Sooner I get over math the better," said Bram.

"Will do great guys," said Ryan.

"So, what's the first step with girls?" asked Archie.

"Well as the alpha male here…" began Jimmy.

"Hold it laddy, it is I who is the alpha male," said Bram.

Ryan facepalmed, 'there they go again.'

"Hey Ryan," said Miho walking up with Saori and Hana.

"What's up Miho," said Ryan.

"Ryan, about practice…" she began.

Then she was interrupted by the sound of an opening locker. "Hah!" said Jimmy as he pulled out four love letters. "What do you say to that partner?"

"Oh it's like that lad," said Bram opening his locker and pulling out ten love letters.

"What, I call bull crap," said Jimmy.

"Come on guys, it should not matter how man love letters you get, you can decide this other ways," said Ryan as he pulled his locker and a pile of love letters fell on the ground.

Miho was completely surprised, "Um what are all these?" asked Ryan.

"Seriously?" said Jimmy.

"You have the most Ryan," said Bram.

"Hm, none of these letters have names," said Ryan.

"AH!," the small scream getting everyone attention as they all had a look of surprise. Archie had an even bigger pile than Ryan, some in his locker still. "EEK! There after me," said Archie freaking out.

"Saori, how many did you write?" whispered Hana with only Miho and Saori hearing.

"One for each," whispered Saori answering as she blushed.

Miho could only laugh a bit.

"So Miho, what are Sensha-do practices like?" asked Ryan.

"We will start with formations, movement, and then target practice," said Miho.

"Well alright I look forward to it," said Ryan.

Field…

"Welcome back," said Ami as the entire Ooarai team standing at attention. "You took your first steps yesterday."

"Instructor, what will we be doing today?" asked Yukari.

"We will be focusing on formation and tactics," said Allen, "now everyone get to your tanks."

Everyone went into their tanks. Allen went to the M3 Lee, since they performed the poorest, he wanted to see if he could help. It was a cram fit, but he would manage.

Ami actually went inside the Pershing wanting to see how well these boys and one girls worked together.

Momo was leading everyone getting them in formation and then took them to the shooting range.

Allen observing the Lee team noticed the driver was struggling a bit, "Karina correct?"

"Hai?" she asked.

"You should work on building some arm strength to better pull the controls," said Allen.

"Hai Taicho," said Karina.

"In fact all of you should work on arm strength," said Allen.

"Hai!" they all replied.

"Now then, let's see how well you shoot," said Allen.

Ami was in the Pershing tank, she observed this team, and she must say they worked pretty well together despite some bickering between the crew.

The tanks got to the targets and began to practice shooting. Many misses were happening at first, soon they began to adjust and hit targets.

Ami who was observing Emma was impressed on how fast she could adjust and even was the first to hit a target. "You have talent as a shooter Emma," said Ami.

"Thank you Taicho," said Emma.

If they kept going like this they be a very formidable team.

Back in the M3 Lee, Allen continued to direct and advise, doing everything he could to help them.

Overall practice went well and pretty soon, they all drove to the garage.

Garage, Later…

The tanks started to return the garage after a first day of training, Captain Allen was working with the Pershing and the Rabbits especially.

Jimmy, Bram, and Archie were sat down by the Pershing chilling after the practice. Jimmy decided to give his first piece of advice, "Ok Archie, the first think about girls is that they like compliments," he said.

"What, what do I say?" asked Archie nervously.

"Come on man, confidence is another aspect," said Bram.

"Let's try an example," said Jimmy, now let's see," he began to look around, he spotted Emma, heck she will do, "hey Em?

"Yea?" she heard him.

"Come over here," said Jimmy.

She went over, "what is it Jimmy?"

"Ok lad, pay her a compliment," said Bram.

"What's going on?" asked Emma.

"Well Em, we are trying to help our teammate get over his fear of girls, you mind helping?" said Jimmy.

"I guess that's ok," said Emma.

"What do I say?" asked Archie shaking a bit.

"Anything her hair, her face," suggested Jimmy.

"Or perhaps her personality or what she's wearin," suggested Bram.

"Oh well, umm Emma…" began Archie.

"Hm?"

"You have…a…um…" Archie was struggling on what to say, her nice blonde hair, maybe her smile, no her eyes, then he knew the best words, "a nice flat chest."

Jimmy eyes widened, Bram facepalmed, as for Emma, she began to boil.

Meanwhile, Miho and Ryan were walking side by side, "oh, it is possible to drift," said Ryan.

"Hai, though you will likely tear up your tracks," said Miho.

Then they heard, "AHHHHHHH!" Archie ran past them.

Followed by, "YOU ARE SO DEAD!" yelled Emma passing Miho and Ryan who were both now scratching their heads at what just happened.

Bram and Jimmy were only staring at what was happening, Bram decided to ask "um Jim, so Emma is sensitive about her…?"

"Yep," answered Jimmy. Bram nodded in understanding.

Anzu then called for everyone attention, getting the whole team, "Everyone, we are having a match," she announced.

"Who are we up against?" asked Ryan.

"St. Gloriana," answered Anzu.

"How good are they?" asked Jimmy.

"They were runner ups in the Semi-finals," said Yukari.

"Great, tough opponents already," said Ryan.

St. Gloriana…

"Ooarai Girls Academy. You've started your Sensha-Do club backup? Congratulations." Said Darjeeling. "No that's fine, We don't run from a challenge," she finished hanging up the phone.

"Is it true, boys on that team?" asked Peko.

"Will find out," said Darjeeling sipping some tea when the phone rang. She picked up the phone.

"Hello?" she answered

"Greetings is this the Sensha-Do commander of St. Gloriana?" asked a man.

"Yes this is Darjeeling," she said, wondering who this man was.

"My names is Lt. James Rogers British Army, and I have an offer for you," said Rogers.
