A/N: This is the official third project. I just feel there's not enough Dreadwing stories around and I love that bot. I decided to give him a family and it was so unfair that he died in Transformers Prime. I always seen him joined the Autobots and I feel he deserve the peace and love. Long live Dreadwing, the coolest warrior ever!
Edit note: I apologise for any mistakes grammar I made. English is not my first language and initially I accidentally wrote in "you" reader's POV before I decided to change everything. Initially my OC was spelled as Ariella but I changed last second to Ariella. This is solely for people who love Dreadwing fans. This is for you! I will post my livejournal if I find it.
Teaser idea on my Tumblr: "So, my first lieutenant does have a human pet! How fascinating! Does his pet play fetch or have the pathetic little human made Dreadwing ever so weak and fallen in love with a human female? Such treachery that must be terminated! Bring me his head and I will award you beyond your dreams!" Megatron bellowed.
~ Final summary confirmed finale: ~
Megatron vowed he will have Dreadwing's head for betraying the Decepticons. Once he discovered Dreadwing have a human pet, he will never stop hunting him and Ariella until he have both of their sparks. Will Ariella and Dreadwing survive Megatron's death sentence and will Optimus Prime be enough to protect them both?
The Heart In My Locket
Chapter one
Ariella didn't look back. She ran and left the base. She ended up being on the rooftop right near the very edge of the cliff. The truth weighs on her and she feels her own heart ripped into pieces. All she wanted to do was to be drown, to be drown by her own grief until she doesn't feel any pain in her heart was all she ever desired. There she was, up high up in the air and not thinking clearly at all, she was so ready to join with the people she loved.
The young teenage girl took a big leap and a desperate voice cried out her name behind her. It wasn't until somebody else caught her on her wrist right on time and her action was completely out of character. The whole thing was unexpected and out of character. The girl looked up to see it was Dreadwing, terrified out of his mind.
"What - in - the - AllSpark are you doing?!" Dreadwing raised his voice furiously. He had seen her jumped off the base.
"Let me go." Ariella argued and fought grief in her chest. Dreadwing pulled her right back up.
"I can't let you fall." Dreadwing said fearfully.
"Why do you care about me? I'm human! There is nothing left for me to live! Let me go!" Ariella struggled helplessly against his grip but he refused to and was very adamant.
"You think you're the only one who knows about losses?" Dreadwing scolded her. "Suicide is selfish and not the answer!"
"What do you know about losses? You're a Decepticon!" Ariella yelled back and cried out desperately, determined to jump again. Dreadwing wouldn't budge at all. He stood very still and was shocked that she just did.
"I know more than you do and I know your pain more than you realised. Please. If I let you go, how would I know you won't attempt to jump again?" Dreadwing was kneeling next to her with one knee on the ground, steadying her in his grip, careful she wouldn't fall.
Ariella could see Optimus Prime right behind Dreadwing to make sure she was safe and had come up to investigate the commotion.
"There's nothing left for me to live and I don't trust anyone! Let me go!" Ariella attempted to push his big metal hand away.
"No!" Dreadwing snarled fumingly. "Because I know you will jump off again and I cannot allow you to do that!"
The female was sobbing hysterically now in his grip profoundly and shook violently in his grip before she let out an ear splitting scream. "I don't care! I don't care!"
Dreadwing still didn't budge. He held onto her very gently and placed her near his spark. He didn't even flinch when Ariella hit him on his chassis with her tiny fist on him fruitlessly. There was also pain in his optics and now, all he desired more so was peace. He allowed the human to lashed out her temper at him and he raised a servo at Optimus, acknowledged a nod at him. The Prime returned one to him.
When she tired out from her screaming and lashing, all she could do was cry but her voice became hoarse. Tears rolled down upon her cheeks but couldn't speak and Dreadwing took his chance to speak with the kid. It was a rare sight for a Decepticon to be close to a human. She finally stopped hitting his chassis and his metal hand gently closed around her tiny hands. There was a sympathy look that was given to her with much concern.
Her face was so red. Her cheeks heated from all the crying and all she could do was rest her head on his shoulder. She couldn't believe even a Con can actually comfort a human. But there he was, stroking her back gently with his finger and she let out a whimper through her sobbed. Grief overtook her completely.
"You do care, Ariella. You care so much that you prefer to bleed and let the pain rip you apart. You prefer death. Death is not the answer. I promise you it is not the answer. What would your family think? I believed they would want you to live because your life is a treasure and like you rightly say, you can't buy back a life."
"You wouldn't know what my family would want because they're not here!" She shot back spitefully in a hoarse voice and struggled hopelessly in his arms. "What does a Con know about losses?"
"If you must know, I lost my twin brother, Skyquake and back on my homeworld in Cybertron, I lost a conjunx endura and a daughter. Believe me, I know how you're feeling, more than you do, little one." Dreadwing told her openly.
Optimus stared at him. He believed Dreadwing kept his own business close to his chassis just like the human girl before him and realised right at this moment, they were alike than they realised. They might be different species but they had something in common. Instead, Ariella is human and Dreadwing is a Cybertronian.
"Conjunx endura?" Ariella looked confused at the bots. Her voice was faint from all the screams she made earlier. She was slowly calming down.
"In your language, Ariella: means wife." Optimus spoke gently from a distance.
She glanced at Optimus. Then nestled up at Dreadwing's chassis and looked away from him. Her face was completely stricken with tears and turned her back against both of them and put her other arm close. Dreadwing still held her other hand firmly.
"You're never alone, Ariella, because I will always be with you."
"D-Don't say that!" She looked up to his red optics and I stammered. She was back on, shouting and her voice shook completely.
Dreadwing looked at her and stood right up with his arms wrapped protectively around her, ensuring her that she never jumped off the cliff ever again. Her tears poured out once more strongly.
"You have my word. I promised I won't leave you." Dreadwing vowed to her.
She shook her head and argued reasonably with him. "D-don't make me that promise if you cannot keep it, Dreadwing because when people do it: is either they leave me or end up dead." The girl bawled openly at him.
"I do not intend to leave you, especially what I saw today, Ariella. I intend to stay." Dreadwing holds the child firmly, fear she would run off over the cliff again. "Now, tell me." He lifted the high school girl, near off to his eye level with his servo gently and a soft grip. "Why?" He asked softly.
Ariella looked away from his red optics and stared at the floor. She even avoided Optimus's gaze that now rested on her. The daughter of the military mother even dared to challenge Dreadwing, her now current guardian standing before her and more like her caregiver to be exact given her current situation.
"Why did you save me? My life is not worth saving. I'm just a filthy human to the Decepticons. I'm not worth saving. You could have saved yourself, left me on the Nemesis warship and Megatron would have done me a huge favour too." The 17 year old girl rebutted with much attitude and answered with a question.
"Ariella. Listen to me. I do not care what Megatron told you and I certainly do not see you the way he sees it. You are not filthy. You are young. You are beautiful and a very smart girl. You are worth living. Do you understand me?" Dreadwing told her in an authoritative way.
Ariella swipes her cheeks with the back of her hand. Her tears continued to flood on her face. She didn't want to be close to anyone for a reason and a look of despair crossed her face.
"I would rather stay on the Nemesis warship. Megatron would do me a favour. Why am I important to you enough to be saved?" Ariella tested him. Stubborn girl with so much fiery attitude.
Dreadwing and Optimus shared a look at each other. They looked very alarmed and worried at the sight of her exhausted small frame. Optimus was worried more about her mental health right now and definitely did not expect her to act the way she did today. It was clear she was very much in pain. Optimus frowned at what she just said and was beyond out of character.
Dreadwing sighed. He bowed his head to her and didn't care if Optimus heard his confession to Ariella. "Because you reminded me very much of my daughter back on Cybertron and she was very much like you. Stubborn. Resilient and with an attitude like you, just like her mother. Do you remember what we talked about when I came by on the Nemesis warship?"
Ariella stared at him. She always knew there was something about Dreadwing that made her trust him and didn't know why. A part of her sees him as her older brother she never has, just like her twin, Steven. They talked longer than usual on the Nemesis warship.
"Yeah. Yeah." Ariella breathe slowly and collected her thoughts carefully once more and spoke in a trembled voice. "I remembered you came to give me with food and water. You came by daily to guard me because Megatron ordered you to. You were different from the rest of the Cons that treated me."
"And?" Dreadwing pressed on. He raised his eyebrows at her.
There was silence between them. Ariella thought hard for a while. Then sighed. She stared at the ground and allowed her tears to fall on her lap. "That hate and anger isn't the answer that gives us peace. There's nothing left for me to live for, Dreadwing. I just lost my mother and I have no one left."
"No. You are not alone, Ariella, because I will always be with you." Dreadwing soothes her calmly. "Now, let's get you inside. It's getting late. There's a storm coming. Come, little one."
He started walking back to the Autobot base with the Prime. The Seeker heard a thunder rumble from the distance and looked up to the grey dark clouds thinking of his twin brother, Skyquake painfully in his mind. He was always an annoying little brother that always grind his gear but doesn't mean he doesn't love him from time to time.
"Let's go inside, together."
The loss was more than just a grief to the young human female and realised she needs a closer watch in case she ever does this act again. Ariella didn't bother to fight Dreadwing anymore. She knew it was pointless. He was a lot bigger than her who could easily squashed the kid. Yet, she was still crying, this time her head rested on his shoulders and gripped tightly on him with a whimper.
Once back at the vent corridor, the door closed behind the three of them automatically. Dreadwing cautiously set the little girl on the ground. The moment he did, he regretted it instantly because the human girl set off on a run once more, as fast as her leg could go. There was nowhere to run and she didn't want to live anymore. She didn't even care that anyone at the base heard her cry.
The three children: Miko Nakadai, Jack Darby and Rafael Esquivel crane their heads around. Dreadwing regretted letting her run because he knew exactly where she wanted to go. It hurt his spark to see her acted this way and knew she wasn't the same person when she lost her whole family. She was a different person 360 degrees. He knew. So did Optimus.
The ex lieutenant Decepticon scoop her close to his spark once more and held her around her tiny chest with his servo. Even the Autobots stopped what they were doing and tensed up at the sight of the former Decepticon and this was a very rare sight to see one interacting with a human. It even looked odd to them to see Dreadwing being close to a human female.
"Let me go back up there." Ariella demanded like a spoiled child, loud enough for Team Prime to hear and pounded weakly onto Dreadwing's fist again. Her voice went to a high pitch scream that made everyone uneasy.
No one dared to speak except Dreadwing and Ariella in the Autobot base.
"No. I can't let you do that." Dreadwing said adamantly.
"Let me go back up there. Please." She begged him.
"No. I won't let you." Dreadwing was patient with her. He stood his ground.
Dreadwing wouldn't let her nor would he budge. He just crouched down very still and held her close to his spark while she fruitlessly attempted to escape from everyone, from everything and his servo rested on her head.
Her head gently on his spark. She kept repeating reckless words at him and he stroked her back carefully. He stroked her hair gently. It was a sight no one will ever forget in the new age and new history.
He stayed very still for Ariella. That night, she cried herself to sleep and ended up passing right out on her new guardian.
"Are you sure this isn't yours?" Jack asked Miko just to get confirmation.
"Positive. Does that look like my style?" The Japanese exchange student frowned in response.
"I don't know. That's why I'm asking!" Jack shrugged his shoulders.
"And who's the new girl?" Rafael added.
"Her name is Ariella Rena Illonois." Wheeljack joined the three children's conversation.
"Is this actually her necklace?" Jack Darby asked Wheeljack and held out the jewellery to him.
Wheeljack looked at it thoughtfully. "Yep. That's hers. Where did you find it?"
"Somewhere on the floor in the base. Maybe you should have it."
"Ha! You better hold onto that, Jack Darby, because you should know by now that the bots around here do end up crushing everything." Wheeljack reminded him. "Make sure you give it to Ariella."
"Fair point. I will." Jack promised. He had witnessed Bulkhead crushed Ratchet's equipment all too often and didn't want another Wrecker to destroy something so personal especially if it belongs to the new girl in their base. "Is it important to her?"
"Does it make a lot of money if we sell the jewellery?" Miko chimned in, desperate to light up the situation.
"Miko!" Jack nudged her hard in the ribs.
"Hey!" Miko frowned at her classmate.
"It is. It's very out of character even for her to leave a piece of jewellery like that. Oh and Miko, please do not ever make fun of her necklace. Keep it in mind. All of you." Wheeljack warned the three children.
"Okay, sure. But, why?" Miko raised her eyebrows at him. "Spill the beans, Wheeljack. Where have you been, anyway?" Miko asked excitedly. "It's nice to have you back."
"Protective details." Wheeljack answered nonchalantly to her. "Nice to be missed!"
"And how exactly do you know her?" Miko leaned onto the banister the same way as Jack and Rafael did.
"I was her mother's guardian for NEST." Wheeljack informed them heavily. "Her mother is a military sniper. A damn good shot. A soldier. Her name is Diana Illinois. I only recently found out she passed away. Her base was attacked by Starscream and his five Vehicons. Nothing else was left behind."
"Wow! You had a human partner and you never told us?!" Miko exclaimed excitedly, standing on the banister dangerously. "What is she like and have you ever fallen in love with a human partner?"
The subject was already getting weirder. Jack groaned and slap a hand on his own face. Arcee looked amused and joined in the conversation with them other than Rafael.
"Classified." Wheeljack said simply. "What do you mean fallen in love with a human?" He asked her sharply.
"Really, Miko? Think about what you're saying. A Cybertronian and human." Arcee gave her a look and started laughing at her questions.
"Are you kidding me right now?" Wheeljack slapped a servo on his face.
"Why not? You guys look ever so lonely." Miko teased them both. "Imagine you guys are the only Cybertronian on a random planet and about to be extinct. I mean there's not enough of you guys around on our planet due to the war on Cybertron you told us about. Right?"
"Miko!" Jack Darby groaned. So did the Bots with him in unison.
Rafael laughed at the two of them bickering as always.
"What? Facts. I wonder what that would be like: a Cybertronian and a human kissing together and then having and imagine if they mate together -" Miko started and Jack clapped a hand over her mouth. She pushed his hand away. It was obvious she's been thinking crazy thoughts especially her bot friends.
"I don't want to hear it, Miko!" Jack interrupted her and clapped his own ears with his hands. "Stop putting crazy images in my head."
"Oh, what images would that be?" Miko sneered, unable to help herself. "Is there a dirty mind I should know about in that pretty little head of yours and can I download them or have you been kissing Arcee that no one knows about?"
"What? No!" Jack flushed with a huge red crimson on his face. "She's just my partner and Arcee's my guardian!"
"That's what you keep telling yourself, lover boy! Partners that can turn to lovers, Jack. Duh!" Miko raised her eyebrows.
Arcee was fuming right now and she was shaking. Wheeljack had to hold her down before she could strangle Miko right this moment. "That's it! Jack is not my lover! Get it through your thick head!"
"Cool it, Arcee! The kid have a totally wild imagination." Wheeljack held her around her chest and he threw Miko a look. The two wheeler struggled in his grip.
"Clearly have the craziest idea in history!" Arcee shot back at Wheeljack and elbowed him on the side.
"I am so sorry you have to see her this way. Show's over. Thanks for visiting. Let's go Miko. Let's see what the other bots are hiding!" Jack said clearly embarrassed at what just happened.
"Don't apologise for her, Jack." Arcee glared at him. Miko made imitated kisses at the two wheeler clearly to get some provocation from the bots reaction on her fantasised ideas.
"Yeah, lover boy!" Miko teased Jack again
"Let's go, Miko! Okay, the show's over!" Jack declared and decided to save her from the two bots fury.
Miko stomped on her foot and she groaned at him. "Urrrghh! Come on, why do you always have to be such a goody two shoe and not risk the fun! But it was just getting more entertaining! I'm going to say it: one day, a Cybertronian is going to fall in love with a human! One day! I bet you even a Decepticon will fall in love with a human."
"That will never happen, kid, not in a million years!" Wheeljack called after her, amused at her weird subject.
"Bite me, Wheeljack!" Miko said daringly.
"Jesus Christ." Wheeljack shook his head, unexpected of that come back comment from her. She's definitely one hell of a wrecker other than Diana, his dead human charge in an unexpected event.
Arcee dropped her jaw. Jack looked apologetically at Wheeljack and Arcee who understood the boy. If Miko wasn't steered, Wheeljack would have gone off at her too, especially what she just said to him.
"Does that mean you're going to be the new girl's guardian? Kind of makes sense because you knew her mother." Rafael asked safely once Jack and Miko was out of earshot.
"I don't think I will ever guard a human kid. That's for sure. No. I won't be." Wheeljack affirmed to Rafael.
"Why?" Arcee asked him, surprised. She prise Wheeljack's servo gently off hers and assured him she's cool. Wheeljack nodded at her and lightly tapped her on the shoulder in a friendly manner.
Wheeljack sighed.
"How can I protect her daughter, Ariella when I already failed to protect Diana, Arcee? It's my fault she's dead. Her own mother was killed and now she's an orphan because I wasn't there on time and now, because of me, she had no one. I think Dreadwing will have to be her new guardian. Yeah I can't believe I actually said that." Wheeljack said with so much guilt.
"Wheeljack." Arcee started.
"Don't say it is not my fault. It is." Wheeljack snapped hotly.
"Aren't you being a little bit hard on yourself? How can you expect to be in two places at once?" Arcee crossed her arms across her chassis.
"Are you sure we can really trust Dreadwing to take care of Ariella?" Rafael asked fairly.
"You know, that's a fair question, kid." Wheeljack glanced from Rafael to Arcee thoughtfully. "I always did wonder why Optimus let Dreadwing into our base in the first place."
"Maybe you should take the guardianship duty again." Arcee encouraged him.
"No. I can't." Wheeljack vowed he will never be close to anyone again.
He started walking away from Arcee and felt he needed to be alone for a while.
"Wheeljack! Don't walk away from us!" Arcee called out after him. She was worried now.
"I'm sorry, Cee. I need my own space right now and there's no way in hell I would guard another human." Wheeljack was clearly hurting.
"Don't push me away!" Arcee raised her voice angrily at him.
Wheeljack made no answer. Rafael looked concernedly at Arcee.
"Wheeljack!" Arcee yelled after him. Then she said in a small voice. "Don't leave me."
Rafael heard her words. He gently placed a consoling hand on his shoulder and Arcee felt his small little hand on hers as she casually leaned a little on the banister. It was so typical of Wheeljack.
Jack and Miko came right back to base to witness a crying storm that sounded a lot like the new girl. They stood frozen on the spot and watched as the defeated girl was with the Dreadwing. Ariella screamed at him and cried at his chassis. Her sob and scream was raw to the point exhaustion carried her off to sleep and when the base was awfully quiet, Bulkhead was the first to speak up and noticed someone on the Autobot team was missing.
"Uh. Where's Wheeljack?" Bulkhead asked, breaking the tension in the air.
"He took off." Arcee bit her lips. She looked angry.
"Again?" Miko was disappointed. "Don't break up the band, dude!"
"Why?" Optimus frowned and walked into the conversation.
Arcee pulled him aside. Miko craned her head around to try to listen in on their conversation. Bulkhead noticed this and started walking away from them and transformed into a vehicle. He peeled out of base to find his best friend, causing Miko to be distracted and dizzy from his sudden transformation.
"Whoa! A little warning next time, Bulkhead. Otherwise I might end up puking on your floor mat." Miko said inside the green truck.
"I'm going to find Wheeljack." Bulkhead told the team. "Come on, Miko. Let's go find Wheeljack together."
The rest of the team watched him speed away.
"Optimus. Are you sure we can really trust Dreadwing?" Arcee asked with an edge on her voice. Her voice lowered in a suspicious tone.
"I understand your reason, Arcee. Yes. We can. I just witnessed Dreadwing save Ariella. Twice, as a matter of fact. He could have left her on the Nemesis warship and we would have never known if the Illinois family was alive or not. Ariella tried to suicide herself. Dreadwing was there in time to save her." Optimus informed.
Arcee gasped. Shocks written across her face. Then gaped at Dreadwing. Arcee couldn't see the new girl around because Dreadwing shielded the human from sight. She made a face at Optimus, one that the leader of the Autobot knows too well. Optimus places a consoling servo on her shoulder.
Arcee realised that Wheeljack wasn't the only one hurting but so was Ariella. "Why would Dreadwing save a human?"
"Maybe this would help?" Jack raised his hand in the air. He held out the necklace in his hand. "Wheeljack told me this one belonged to the new girl and said not to make fun of her jewellery."
"She would never leave her jewellery behind." Optimus frowned. "Open the necklace, Jack."
"Sure, Optimus." Jack complied.
The young black hair boy found the clip on the necklace and was careful not to break it. The necklace was a heart shape and in it, he saw a family photo.
In the photo, there was a seventeen year old teenager with long red hair tied up neatly. The new girl had her arms wrapped around the man very closely and grinned broadly. The man was very similar to her and had the same look.
"Who's that?" Arcee wondered, baffled at the man in the photo.
"That Arcee is her older twin brother, Steven. He was killed by the Earthquake years ago. Yes, Dreadwing had a twin brother, Skyquake, who had unfortunately perished in our hands."
"So how is it you know about the Illinois family?" Jack added. "How come we never heard about her?"
"I send Wheeljack to be assigned to guard the family. The family was military, especially the mother. A request made by Agent Fowler. We kept the Illonois a secret due to their skills as classified. It is not a matter of trust, Jack. It was because the Illonois family had been hunted for a while." Optimus answered simply.
"The Decepticons?" Jack wondered. He and Arcee shared a look with each other.
"No. Diana had a record of all classified missions. She was sent to eliminate and her family became a serious target, including her daughter. As far as intelligence goes, I believe Ariella is still in danger because of her mother's missions." Optimus frowned about the situation.
"So will Wheeljack guard the Illonois family again?" Jack had the same question as his friend, Rafael had.
"He said he won't. Wheeljack's hurting and he blamed himself for Diana's death." Arcee answered abruptly before Optimus could answer.
Optimus shared a concerned look with Arcee. "I will speak to Wheeljack, personally. I feel Dreadwing will be well suited to young Ariella as her guardian. I believe all Decepticons deserve the opportunity for redemption and a change of capacity if they seek war and peace as long as they stray from Megatron's path."
"Optimus, with all due respect, how do we know Dreadwing here won't stab us in the back the way Starscream does? Sure. He saved Ariella. How do we know Dreadwing won't use her to sell her to Megatron?" Arcee pointed out fairly.
"He won't." Optimus affirmed. His optics rested on Dreadwing. "Because Dreadwing sees Ariella as his own daughter, personally."
Arcee looked taken aback at his answer.
"Can I see Dreadwing? I want to give the necklace back to the new girl. I promised I will be careful." Jack asked them.
"You may." Optimus nodded.
"I'll go with," Arcee smiled. Then she tiptoed and kissed the leader on the cheek. "Thanks, Optimus."
That earned Optimus a low chuckle. He smiled warmly. Then took her by the arm while Jack proceeded ahead. "Arcee."
"Yes, Optimus?"
"Please. Keep an eye on Ariella. I am afraid for her mental health and how she will cope with the loss of her family. I am afraid she will jump again. I certainly did not expect her to do so." Optimus told her.
"I will, Optimus. You have my word." Arcee gave him a brief grip on his arm and nodded at him. She had never heard the fear in her leader's voice before. "Who's going to adopt her?"
"I feel Dreadwing will. If no one will step in to adopt her, I will, and, I will do it for Diana." Optimus volunteered.
"You'll suit well to be her father."
Arcee can completely visualise him being a father to Ariella. That will suit very well and she had witnessed the way Optimus was strict with Bumblebee. She grinned at him. She was very sure Optimus would enjoy being a sire again. Bumblebee was his son after all. Everyone knew that.
She followed her human charge and was right behind him. There were a lot of people Optimus wanted to see. But first, he wanted to pay his respect to Ariella's mother, Diana and say his good bye to her.
At the sight of Ariella, particularly her red hair. Optimus remembered Diana very clearly. He can see a huge resemblance she shared with her mother and how alike they were. Optimus realised how important family was to him and how one life can be so short. He vowed to himself he will also keep Ariella safe, for his best friend, Diana.
And yes he would suit very well to be Ariella's adopted father.
Jack Darby approached Dreadwing. He noted that Ariella nestled close to his spark chamber and slept soundlessly. Dreadwing had his servo wrapped protectively around her. He sat right up, careful not to wake the sleeping child.
"Hi. Is it okay if I speak with you?" Jack spoke feeling stupid for asking him this type of question.
"Yes?" Dreadwing asked Jack cautiously.
"I wanted to give you this." Jack held out the necklace to Dreadwing. "Wheeljack said the necklace belonged to the new girl. I already asked Miko if it was hers."
Dreadwing recognised the necklace at once. "Where did you find the necklace? She would never leave this behind." He had seen the child wearing the necklace whenever he visited her on the Nemesis warship just last week.
"On the floor when I came straight here from school. Do you know why she would leave it behind?" Jack asked curiously. He placed the necklace on the ex Cons finger.
Dreadwing closes his servo around the necklace securely. "I feel she doesn't want to be reminded constantly of her past and wants to be disconnected from it. Thank you, I will pass it to her."
He sighed and looked concernedly at the sleeping Ariella who shifted slightly from his chassis.
"Uh, good luck, Dreadwing." Jack rubbed the back of his head lightly.
"What is your name?"
"Uh...Jack Darby."
"Thank you, Jack."
"You're welcome."
It was certainly strange to Jack that a former Decepticon would protect the human. After all, Jack knew very well that all Deceptions resort to violence. Jack trust Optimus a great deal and trust the fact he knows what he's doing otherwise the Autobots wouldn't even take refuge on Earth in the first place as their new home.
His phone rang, making all of them jump and even Optimus turned around. Thankfully, Ariella was still asleep. He answered the phone. It was getting very late and he was way over the curfew limit.
"Hey mum. I'm with Arcee. Don't worry. Everything's fine. I haven't forgotten about the curfew." Jack assured her. "Bye mum! Love you!"
He was very certain his mum would freak out to find an ex Decepticon at the Autobot base and he purposely left that detail out. He quickly hung up and sighed.
"Panic much?" Arcee smirked at him.
"Sorry." Jack shrugged his shoulders.
"Hop on. I'll give you a ride back home." Arcee transformed into a motorcycle. "Helmet on, Jack."
Jack sighed and climbed onto Arcee. He waved at Optimus. "See you guys tomorrow."
