Chapter 13 Preparation

Space…

In a asteroid field in a galaxy far, far away.

The Rebel Alliance continues it fight for freedom against the tyrannical Galactic Empire. With fall of Hoth, Alliance Raids are the only thing keeping the rebellion alive. A strange signal is discovered. Rebel intelligence believed it to be an Imperial Outpost dispatches Orange Squadron to destroy it.

Five X-wings were flying through an asteroid field searching for the Imperial Outpost. "Alright everyone, let's win this," said Ryan.

"We made it this far," said Yukari.

"Wo wee, going to choose the A-wing next time," said Jimmy.

"Miho you ready?" asked Emma.

"Hai," said Miho.

"I'm picking something up," said Jimmy.

"I got a visual," said Yukari.

"That's out target," said Ryan.

"I'm picking up new signatures," said Jimmy.

"We got TIEs at 1'o'clock!" said Miho.

"I count ten!" said Emma.

"This is Orange leader, everyone check in," said Ryan.

"Orange 5, standing by," said Yukari.

"Orange 4, standing by," said Jimmy.

"Orange 3," standing by," said Miho.

"Orange 2, standing bye," said Emma.

"Lock S-foils and attack formation," ordered Ryan. All the X-wings wing's expanded into their x.

"What's the plan Ryan?" asked Miho.

"Go at them, form up behind me" ordered Ryan.

Everyone was behind Ryan as they turned towards their 1'o'clock ready to meet the ten ties. "On my signal," said Ryan.

They got close, and closer, then green and red lasers filled the black void of space, both sides breaking apart and spreading out.

Ryan managed to take one out. "Got one!" said Ryan.

Yukari meanwhile managed to get one herself.

"Nice one Yukari," said Ryan.

"Thanks," said Yukari.

"HELP! I got three on my tail!" screamed Emma being chased. She could feel the shaking in her wing, for now shields were holding.

"Emma I'm coming," said Miho blasting through a TIE.

"Emma, try to move as much as you can, don't let them have a lock," said Ryan.

Emma did her best despite still getting hit a few times. Then one of the TIES got destroyed as

Jimmy came down diving taking it out. "Ye Hah!"

Miho also arrived and took out another TIE chasing Emma.

The third TIE retreated for now with Ryan in pursuit.

Yukari meanwhile took out another TIE.

Jimmy meanwhile was pursuing two more.

Ryan caught up and took out the one he was chasing. "Good job everyone, we're winning."

"Ryan, don't speak so soon, I'm detecting more signals coming," said Emma.

"Woo, talk about a party, looks like 2 TIE Defender, 5 TIE Interceptors, 10 TIE Fighters, and uh oh…!" said Jimmy his mouth dropped.

"What is it Jimmy!" asked Miho bit of worry, as she took out another TIE.

"It's a TIE Advance," said Jimmy.

This freaked everyone out.

Inside the TIE Advance a particular breathing sound could be heard as Lord Vader himself has entered the battle, "destroy all Rebel Ships," he ordered.

"Yes Lord Vader," said the pilots.

Soon they began to swarm the single squad of X-wings.

"Guys remember the objective is to destroy the Outpost, I'll deal with Vader. Miho and Jimmy, make it to the weak spot on the Outpost. Yukari, Emma, cover them," ordered Ryan.

"NO!" said Emma as she suddenly got swarmed and shot down.

Now several TIES were moving on Yukari.

"Watch out Yukari!" cried Miho.

Yukari was suddenly getting swarmed by multiple TIE fighters.

"Miho, we got a problem!" said Jimmy as the Outpost began to fire on them.

Jimmy was zig zagging through the storm of turbo lasers, and then more Interceptors were being launched from the Outpost. Miho was doing the same following Jimmy.

Back with Ryan he was engaging Vader, he tried to catch him by his Advance was way too fast. As he kept trying to pursue he detected two fighters on his tail. When he got a look his filled with dread, both were Defenders. A mental shit went off in his mind. The Defenders began to open fire and Ryan's shied was taking a pounding. He began to maneuver around the asteroid field trying to shake them.

With Miho and Jimmy, both of them were now going for the shield generator under the outpost while being pursued by multiple Interceptors on their tail. Miho kind of wishes there was a rear turret right now.

"Jimmy!" said Miho looking ahead to see TIEs heading their way at 12 o'clock.

"Miho, get the generator," said Jimmy moving his X-wing blasting like a madman. Eventually he collided head long into one of the TIEs and blew up.

"Jimmy!" cried Miho. "Ryan where are you?!"

"In the asteroid…" the radio went static.

Then Miho realized the TIE Advance was on her and fired proton torpedoes finishing her. With a heavy sigh the cockpit screen went black and then the words GAME OVER appeared on screen.

Arcade…

All five players got out of their cockpits for the X-wing Simulator game. "Tough break guys," said Bram standing with everyone else except Mako who was sleeping in.

"It was a good try," said Hana.

"Not such a great pilot," said Emma with a sad pout.

"Emma its ok, just a game," said Miho though she did come to admit her little sister's pouts were cute.

"Must say this game is close to realism," said Archie.

"I know, the shaking felt very real," said Yukari.

"What do you thin Ryan?" asked Jimmy.

"Could use more work, hope they take simulation and virtual reality to the next level. I really want to get into and X-Wing," said Ryan.

"You sure about that, that was pretty real to me," said Jimmy.

"Um, shouldn't we get to practice," said Saori everyone then frantically moved as they realized they were going to be late for weekend practice.

Shiho's Office…

"Renta! What were you thinking putting boys in Sensha-do?" she demanded.

"Why it's to prove boys are incapable," said Renta. "The commander is only a pilot, he has no idea what he is doing."

"Do not underestimate this boy," said Shiho.

"Of course not, unless your daughter is incapable of defeating him?" said Renta with smugness.

"If he somehow makes it to the finals, the Nishizumi style will not fell to defeat him," said Shiho.

Renta's Office…

"Good," said Renta hanging up. He leaned back in his chair and relaxed. "Of course I am not staking everything on him getting defeated," with a smug smile.

Ooarai Tank Garage…

The team were in the garage with paint repainting their tanks and painting logos on their tanks.

Ryan and his friends meanwhile finally repainted their tanks back to the original green.

"That will do it," said Jimmy putting on the last bit.

"Least it's not a mess of colors," said Archie.

"Hey I got the tools," said Bram.

"Alright guys, time for maintenance," said Ryan.

"Wait!" said Emma.

"What is it Em?" asked Ryan.

"We need to decide on our logo and team name," said Emma.

"Emma, let fix up first," said Ryan.

Then Emma gave a pout, "Oh alright," he relented. "That trick is not going to work someday. Alright guys, what should we call ourselves."

"Alamo team," said Jimmy.

"I don't know about that, I mean I see where you are going," said Ryan.

"What it's a great name," said Jimmy.

"Yea, but it does not represent all of us lad," said Bram.

"I prefer Lion team," said Archie.

"Oh no, too English, we shall go with Nessie," said Bram.

"You mean the Loch Ness monster, that's a myth," said Ryan.

"Yea, she does not exist Bram," said Archie.

"Oh she does, I saw her once," said Bram.

"Let's get back to the team name," said Ryan.

"What about you, any suggestions commander?" asked Archie.

"Umm, no idea," said Ryan. He looked around, "Hey Miho," he called.

"Yes Ryan?" said Miho.

"Come over here," said Ryan.

Miho and Yukari came over to see what's up, "we need some help on a team name," said Ryan.

"How about Eagle team," said Yukari.

"Nah it does not represent all of us," said Bram.

"What did you girls name your team?" asked Jimmy.

"Anglerfish," said Yukari.

"School mascot, not bad," said Ryan.

"Thanks, how about Star team?" suggested Miho. During the while conversation, no one noticed that Emma was painting on the tank with black and white.

"Nah, stars aren't with England," said Archie.

"What about Shark team," suggested Miho.

"Good one Miho, what do you guys think?" asked Ryan.

"Guess it's alright with me," said Jimmy.

"Sharks are ok," said Archie.

With a shrug, "fine," said Bram.

"In that case, lets…" All of them turned towards the tank to begin and then finally noticed. "Huh Emma?" wondered Ryan.

"What is that?" asked Archie.

"That's a good draw," said Bram.

"Emma!" exclaimed Ryan.

"What?" said Emma with paint on her face and brush in hand. "I drew Willy, I loved the Free Willy movies."

"A Killer Whale," said Jimmy.

"Well that fine," said Bram.

"Let's just go with it," said Archie.

Miho and Yukari were giggling at this event.

"Miho, I guess we shall be known as Orca team," said Ryan.

"Alright Ryan, but it needs a bit more," said Miho taking a brush and began to draw on the Orca giving it teeth.

"Hm, I like it," said Ryan.

"Ye!" said Emma excitedly. "Miho that's awesome!" giving her a sudden hug, though some paint went on her uniform.

"Ah, Emma my uniform," said Miho as everyone began to laugh.

"Um co-commander?" asked a nervous Archie.

"Yes Archie?" answered Miho.

"Well um, I-I have an, um i-…"

"Archie has an idea," said Bram.

"What is it?" asked Miho.

"Well Archie wants to attach a microphone that projects different kinds of sounds to deceive the enemy," said Ryan.

"Hm?" said Miho thinking, "I don't know if that will work."

"I say it's worth a try, what do we got to lose?" said Bram.

"It's not against the rules either," said Emma.

"Ok," said Miho.

Meanwhile with the Rabbits, "Alright little Rabbits it is time to draw a team mascot to represent you," instructed Allen.

The Rabbits then scrambled quickly and painted something. When they were done they presented the picture to Allen.

"How is this sir?" asked Azusa.

Allen looked at the picture with a hand on his chin. "Hm, a pink rabbit with red eyes and knives, well not the worst thing I've seen. Needs more red in the eyes." This made all the rabbits cheer.

Ooarai Academy, Hallway…

Classes were chaging as students were getting to their classes or stopping by their locker to get a book. However the peace was shattered.

"EMMA!"

Emma ran down the hall in a hurry laughing. Ryan not too far behind, "I'm getting…Choo…you…choo… for this one… choo!" he declared.

Both of them ran by Miho and her friends.

"What did Emma do this time?" asked Hana.

"I believe it was sneezing powder in his locker," said Mako.

"Guess it was payback for the mustache drawing one her face last week," said Hana.

Miho was trying hard not to laugh.

"By the ways, anyone seen Yukari today?" asked Saori.

"She did not come to school today," said Hana.

"Why don't we drop by and check on her," suggested Hana.

"Where does she live?" asked Saori.

"Her parents are the Barbers and Salon place," said Jimmy coming up.

"How do you know that Jimmy?" asked Saori suspiciously.

"I get haircuts there," said Jimmy.

"Oh, that explains it," said Saori.

"We'll go after school," said Miho.

Then Emma came running pass them with Ryan not far behind.

As they both kept running Sodoko was standing in their path holding her hand in a stop motion, "HALT! No running in the halls!"

WHAM!

Both of them ran over her, then the both stopped realizing what they both did. "Nice going Emma," scolded Ryan.

"Well that's for the mustache last week," said Emma.

"How about the loos salt shaker at lunch the other week," countered Ryan.

Both continued to argue as Sodoko got up with a shoe mark on her face, she was mad, "Um, brother," said Emma shaking a bit.

"What?" as he looked to see an angry hall monitor.

"BOTH OF YOU ARE PICKING WEEDS AFTER SCHOOL!" yelled Sodoko.

Barber Shop…

After Emma and Ryan finished picking weeds, they went along with Miho, Saori, Jimmy, Mako, and Hana to see if Yukari was ok.

"Boy she was really mad," said Jimmy.

"Did she throw you in detention last week for wearing your wearing your hat," said Ryan.

"Hey, I had to wear it," said Jimmy.

"She has always been like that," said Hana.

"Is this the place Jim?" asked Emma.

"Yep, let go right on in," said Jimmy.

The group entered to see a man and a woman.

"Um hello," said Ms. Akiyama.

"Hello, who are?" asked Mr. Akiyama.

"Hello, we're friends of Yukari, is she here?" asked Miho.

"F-Friends?" said Mr. Akiyama. He began to freak out in disbelief.

"Calm down dear," said Ms. Akiyama.

"But there, friends of Yukari and not to mention boys!" said Mr. Akiyama.

"I know that," said Ms. Akiyama.

"Speaking of boys," he closed the distance with scissors and hand making Jimmy and Ryan shake. "None of you two are dating Yukari are you?"

"Um no sir," said Jimmy.

"We're just friends," said Ryan

"Good cause if you are you would get a bald cut," said Mr. Akiyama.

"Shoo," said Ms. Akiyama making him calm down. "Thank you for taking care of Yukari. She left early and has not come back from school yet. You can all head upstairs."

All of them were in Yukari's room admiring all the model tanks and tank style room.

"So she is tank crazy," said Jimmy.

"Jim!" exclaimed Emma.

"I mean that in a good way," said Jimmy.

Ms. Akiyama came in and brought snacks, "Here you go."

Everyone giving appreciation.

"How about a haircut while you wait," offered Mr. Akiyama. Then giving a lethal stare down to Jimmy and Ryan, "I have my eye on you two."

"You shoo," said Ms. Akiyama.

"Okay…" he left the room.

"Sorry it's the first time any of Yukari's friends have come over," said Ms. Akiyama. "She was pretty happy when she made some Sensha-do friends."

This made all of them smile.

"She's in good hands!" said Emma.

This made Ms. Akiyama chuckle, "anyways make yourself at home."

"She has wonderful parents," said Hana.

"She does," said Ryan.

Then they all heard the window open and saw Yukari climbing in.

"Yukari?" said Saori.

"You got some climbing skills like a squirrel," said Jimmy.

"Huh, why are you all here?" asked Yukari then noticing the two boys. "Eh, boys in my room," she thought and her face turned a bit red.

"You got a nice room," said Jimmy.

"Nice models," said Ryan.

"T-thank you," said Yukari.

"Where were you?" asked Emma.

"You didn't contact us, so we were worried," said Hana.

"Sorry, I had my phone off," said Yukari.

"Actually, why didn't you just come through the front door?" asked Saori.

"I thought my father would worry if he saw me dressed like this," said Yuakri.

"I get that, my daddy like that too," said Emma.

"But perfect timing," said Yukari. "I want you to see this!" pulling out a USB drive. Then put it on her TV and played the movie.

"Whoa, a secret spy mission to Saunders. You should have invited me," said Jimmy.

"Dude, how would you stay hidden at a Girl;'s High School?" asked Ryan.

"Janitor or substitute teacher, and my charming good looks," said Jimmy.

"Sure…" said Emma.

They all watched the video of her going into the school. However Yukari began to blush when she recorded herself stripping to put on the Saunders uniform, "Don't look!"

Ryan had his hands on his eyes.

Jimmy on the other hand, "lucky day, nice bod Yukari."

Saori proceeded to slap him.

"Ow, ok I probably had that one coming," said Jimmy. Yukari fast forwarded really fast.

"That a lot of tanks," said Ryan.

"So their bringing of Firefly," said Emma.

"Nice job Yukari you got to their meeting," said Ryan.

Then they all saw Yukari get exposed and chased out.

"That was a good enough infiltration, at least you got out," said Emma.

"As my grandpa always said, feet don't fail me now," said Jimmy.

"That was ridiculous," said Mako.

"I worked hard," said Yukari.

"Can you do something like that?" asked Saori.

"Pre-match reconnaissance is approved, Nishizumi-dono, I did this offline, and the editing isn't done, but please use it to form a plan.

"Thank you," said Miho. "We know their flag tank now, thanks to you. I'll try putting together a plan."

"I'm glad you're okay Yukari," said Saori.

"You're not hurt?" asked Mako.

"That was harrowing," said Hana.

"That was good work," said Ryan.

"Can I come next time?" asked Emma.

"Your sneaky like a rattlesnake," said Jimmy.

"I'm glad you're worried about me. You even came to my house," said Yukari.

"Think nothing of it," said Hana.

"Your our friend and teammate, said Ryan.

"We were able to see your room while we were at it," said Hana.

"You're the first people I've had in my room, tanks were always my friends" said Yukari.

"You're right, your album is full of tanks. Why a punch perm?" asked Saori.

"I didn't like my hair acting up. And I saw my father with one. so I thought it was cool. Perms haven't been allowed since middle school, so it's back to normal," said Yukari.

"I don't think tanks were the reason you couldn't make friends," said Saori.

"Got to agree with Saori on this one," said Jimmy. "Maybe it was your haircut."

"At any rate, we have to get through the first match," said Mako.

"Let's do our best!" said Hana.

"YEAH!" said Emma.

"Mako's the one who's got to work the hardest here," said Saori.

"Why?" asked Mako.

"Morning practice starts tomorrow," said Saori.

"What?" said Mako.

"Nothing to worry about," said Jimmy. "We will handle it."

"How?" asked Ryan.

Ooarai Streets, next morning…

"Don't worry Mako, we are almost there!" said Bram carrying Mako on his back.

"Hai," said Mako still real tired.

"Should I play a tune to rouse you!?" asked Bram.

"No," said Mako. "Still, thank you."

"No problem las," said Bram.

Tsuneo's House…

Tsuneo was in his study finishing up the last of his paper work. Then on his computer finishing buying one ticket for a Sensha-do matches.

"Sorry kids, would love to see your Saunders match, but I wish to see Maho match," said Tsuneo. He then got up to the recorder on the TV and set it to record the Saunders match. "Still best of luck."

Then he got a phone call and answered. "Hello? You can send it to Ooarai? Good, my son will still be able to practice. Thank you bye," he hung up with a smile.
