It won't be like this for long
Chapter 2
Rory was almost ready. After finding Logan's favorite boxers earlier, he insisted she take a nice long soak in their huge tub. He even promised to keep everyone out. When she entered the bedroom from the en suite, there were clothes laid out on the bed. She looked at the jeans. New, White. Flared Five-Pocket Jeans by Emporio Armani. After being married to Logan for almost 11 years, and coming into money as she did with the death of her family, you would think she was used to wearing a pair of jeans that cost over $200. She picked up a Ciara Embroidered Sweater by Alice + Olivia. She looked around to see if he picked her out any shoes. She didn't see them, but he picked out her lingerie. She laughed when she picked up a Kiki de Montparnasse pantie and bra set in burgundy. She can't wear this, her pants are white.
"Logan," she yelled out the door of their bedroom. She pulled a white thong out of her underwear drawer and slipped it on. She picked up the Kiki de Montparnasse bra and put it on. Logan walked into the bedroom.
"You called, Ace?" he asked as he looked at his wife standing in their bedroom in her underwear.
"How old am I?" She asked him. He was looking at her. "I think you have forgotten that I am not 20 years old and still in college." He noticed that she did not have on the matching panties to the bra.
"I am well aware of how old you are. I am your husband. You are a damn good-looking woman at the age of 45. You have a gorgeous body. If I didn't know better, I could not have guessed, you gave birth to 3 children. I can also know for a fact that you have not had any work done. So tell me my golden Ace," He was right up on her now, she could feel his breath as he spoke. He put his hands on her hips, "What seems to be the problem?"
"Problem, I…" She was trying to remember why she called him into the room. After almost 11 years of marriage, he still has this effect on her. "Oh, yeah, I can't wear the panties, they will show through my white jeans." She told him. He just smiled at her, kissed her hard on the lips.
"Guess I didn't think that through. But to be honest, I picked out the pantie and bra set before the jeans." He still had a hold of her hips. "You know, I could lock the door, put Mia in charge of answering the door. Give her a chance to be the host for a few, and we could…" He trailed off as his lip caught the spot on her neck between her collar bone and ear.
Before either one of them could react, the bedroom door flew open. Standing in the doorway with his hand over his eyes was one. Hayden Elias Huntzburger.
"I don't want to see, but Dad, I think you need to come downstairs. Mia's skirt is too short." He said and left the room. Rory put her head on Logan's chest as they both laughed. You could hear Mia telling Hayden to mind his own business.
"You get dressed, birthday girl, I will go see about our heathens." Logan gave her a quick kiss and left the room, shutting the door on the way out.
Rory could hear yelling, from Mia and Logan. She could just imagine Hayden standing there with his arms crossed while Logan tells Mia she will have to change. Sometime in the last year, Hayden appointed himself the clothes police. He is constantly telling Mia and McKenzie that they can not wear that in public.
There goes the door slam. She finished getting dressed, pulling her hair into a low bun, and putting on just a dab of makeup. She could remember when she said she was putting on a dab of makeup when she was younger. It seems her dab has gotten bigger.
She heard the doorbell. She looked in the mirror, nodded her head, slipped her black Portofino Suede Sandals by Gianvito Rossi on her feet, and sat down to buckle the ankle straps. When she was satisfied she was ready, she left the room. She stopped by Mia's room and knocked on the door.
"Mia, can I come in?" She asked as she opened the door. Yes, she is being respectful by knocking on the door, but this is still her house, she does not have to wait to be asked in. Mia was sitting in her underwear at her vanity. Several skirts lay on the floor around her. There were even more on her bed.
"Having a hard time finding something to wear?" she asked. Mia just turned to Rory and burst out crying. "Woah," Rory said as she went to her oldest daughter. "What is the problem? I know that Daddy didn't want you to wear the short skirt, but you knew that when you put it on, so tell me, what is the problem?" Rory was sitting on the bench at the end of her bed.
Mia was trying to dry up her tears. She was still sniffling. "Chad and I broke up." she snuffled.
"Oh, baby, I am sorry. What was the problem?" Rory asked. She was not too old to remember what it was like to have your heart broken at 16. Mia sat up straight, looked in the mirror of her vanity. She stood up and went into the bathroom.
"I think he has another girlfriend," Mia said as she was washing her face and applying makeup. "Kathie told Cathy that she saw Chad and Belinda together at Today's Adventure. When Cathy told me, I pulled her up on Instagram, and sure enough, there was a picture of them together on the go-carts."
"When did he break up with you?" Rory asked. Mia was now standing in her closet looking for something to wear. She was holding up a pair of Thalia Distressed Boyfriend Jeans by Hudson Jeans and a pair of Distressed Mid-Rise Boyfriend Jeans by Denimst. Rory pointed to the Thalia Distressed Boyfriend Jeans by Hudson Jeans. "Those will make your dad happy." She told her.
"He broke up with me by text Friday while I was in 6th period," Mia said as she stepped into the jeans. "I was waiting for him at his car when school was out. I asked him why and he just shrugged his shoulders. I told him that he was going to give me a reason, or I was not going to move from behind his car. He told me that he just didn't want to be tied down." Mia said as she slipped on a Bangles concert tee-shirt on. She had been told that this belonged to her Nana.
"Did you see him at the football game last night?" Rory asked. Mia just looked at her. She then sat down on the bed to put on her pink Nylon Low-Top Sneakers by Moschino that matched her Bangles tee shirt. "Never mind, I guess you saw him on the football field," Rory told her. Mia nodded. She stood up for Rory to look at her. Rory nodded. "He will approve. You do understand where he was coming from?" Rory asked.
"Yes, Ma'am. I normally wear that skirt with leggings." She smiled at Rory. "Are you ready to PART-TA?" Mia said, throwing her mother gang signs. Rory laughed as they descended the stairs. "I'll be back in a few, going to pick up Kathrine," Mia said standing on her tiptoes to kiss her dad on the cheek. "Love you." She told him with a smile as she went toward the door.
By the time Mia and Katherine returned, most of the guests had already arrived. She stood at the door watching her mom. Her mom was one of a kind. She is special. She has heard her dad say that for as long as she can remember. She was standing talking with Auntie Steph and Auntie Honor. She was beautiful.
Everyone mingled, talked, and laughed. A stranger looking in would never believe that the people in this room's combined net worth was as larger if not larger than the national debt. But what would surprise most people that did not know, the people in this room, were all best friends or family. Mia and Katherine are taking economics in school. Several of the family names of the people in this room are used as examples in class. Mia usually just keeps her comments to herself.
Stephanie Vanderbilt, Gloria Vanderbilt's only granddaughter is married to Colin McCrea son of Andrew McCrea, and Abby Rockafeller granddaughter of William Rockafeller Jr. Then there is Phineas Paul Morgan, grandson of J.P. Morgan, son of Porcia Montemaggio and he is married to Rosemary Walton Morgan the great-granddaughter of Samuel Walton.
Let's not forget Robert Grimaldi he is a descendent of Monaco's royal family. He is married to Juliet Johnson, granddaughter of Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson and Johnson.
That's just her mom and dad's friend. Her grandpa Chris and her Auntie Gigi, Her Auntie Honor, and her Uncle Josh.
Mia heard someone call her name. It was her dad. She walked to where he was standing with Uncle Collin. He put his arm around her and whispered in her ear. "Are you still mad with me?" Mia shook her head.
"No, daddy, I love you." She told him with a smile. She could smell the scotch on his breath. She could see her momma coming toward them.
"Logan, please welcome everyone, and let's get the party started." her momma said as he held a wine glass away from her daddy so that she could kiss him. This used to embarrass her, but she learned a long time ago, her momma and daddy were the exceptions to the rule. They loved each other and were not afraid to show it.
She was knocked out of her thoughts when she heard her daddy welcome everyone. He was standing on the stairs so that he could be seen.
"Welcome, Welcome," He said as Rory stepped up beside him. "I would like to welcome everyone to our home." He was interrupted by the door opening and his dad and his companion arriving late. "This is a celebration of the birth of my wife. Rory Huntzburger. I want everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves. Here's to my beautiful wife. Ace, I love you with every fiber of my being. Love is a friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing, and forgiving. It is loyalty through good times and bad. It settles for less than perfections and makes allowances for weakness. Thinking of you keeps me awake. Dreaming of you keeps me asleep. Being with you keeps me alive." He then held his glass high for a toast, then turned to his beautiful wife and kissed her like no one was around.
