Entry 23: Flower Nymphs
"HEY! Are you that Nymph that set up the flyer?"
Sonata suddenly found herself with a purple-ish Nymph running after her with a flyer in hand, passing through the flowers that grew in a cave. She had to take a step back in surprise - and even considered reading her Muramasa for protection just in case.
But yeah. A purple-ish Nymph with plenty of flowery vines all over her greeted her and Vince, the latter of which was (literally) digging around, sighing as he turned his back on yet another useless gold vein.
"I was about to call the number but then I saw you and you look like the Nymph in the flyer so I figured, haha, just go here and kill two birds with one stone and leave the Human alone because he's got a Nymph with him!"
"Woah! Slow down! What flyer, the one that says Naked Empire or the one that says I'm trying to work with some houses to slowly build up a Naked Empire? I made them both, but the second one is old."
"The newer one! Naked Empire now!"
Sonata flexed her hands and smirked. "Well, alright then! You wanna live with me? Usually we don't get people who came from the flyer, it's either word of mouth or we run in to some Nymphs, they want to kill us at first, but we talk them out of that and one of them - it's USUALLY one but some times two - moves over. Hey, that reminds me," she turned to her Human ally, "Vince, remind me to make more flyers. The Nymphs aren't doing that good of a job at word of mouth."
"...Noted." He said, flat-faced. "And I think I'm just about done looking through random caves for anything, so far nothing I grabbed is as good as the stuff from the Dun-"
"Also Vince, maybe we should go around and try spreading word of mouth ourselves."
"We already do that."
"Well no, I mean we should be walking in to new biomes, looking for the Nymphs that-" Sonata stopped herself. "Oh yeah. I guess we kind of do."
Sonata planted her blue Dungeon sword in to the ground and leaned on it like some kind of stage cane. "So, what are your qualifications?"
"Well, I'm actually a trained assassin! I know which flowers make the best untraceable poisons, which ones are the most flammable, how to make a good fire from them - and how to counter those awful weed killers!"
"Mmm hmm. Sonata folded her hands together, tapping her index finger tips to each other. I'll think about it. And your thoughts on clothes?"
"Hate them!"
"You're in."
"WHOO!" She cheered, hugging Sonata. She then looked at Vince.
"Are you part of this too?" She asked.
"Oh... uh... yes?"
"He is." Sonata added.
And the Flower Nymph hugged him too.
"Wait, what do you mean you'd leave me alone because Sonata's here?"
She didn't stop hugging. "You know those assassin skills I just talked about? I'd use them on you if you were by yourself and I'd eat your dead body! But, the important thing is that I already know you're friends with a Nymph, so I won't."
Vince shrugged. "Okay."
Flower Nymphs.
Here in the forests where Spring is always in bloom, the Nymphs are equally-always eager to give their thoughts on doom.
Preferred Environment: Flower Forest.
Environment Threat Level: Peaceful.
Environment Stats: Moist. Warm. Moderate-Mundane. Semicommon. Certain forests that are as if they are in perpetual spring, blooming with several flowers, usually purple ones.
Other Names: Bloom Nymphs, Petal Nymphs, Spring Nymphs (PLEASE do not use this name, it can easily be confused with "spring" as in the body of water, this is simply historical for a time when humanity did not have easy access to both biomes, and when the Nymph types kept to themselves before the founding of the United Naked Empire).
Affinity: Earth.
Color: Bright Magenta.
Traditional Costume Weapon: Bands/vines around their limbs coated in flowers, usually magenta flowers, but they use other colors as well. (Some take exotic green and/or black ones to brag.) This helps them with channelling the flower plants, usually native to this area, but other blooming plants like those in the magma levels can be manipulated with enough power.
Vince's Comment: The Jungle isn't the only place that's very bee-friendly! These Nymphs really like bees, so DON'T piss them off!
Sonata's Comment: I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to exactly one type of flower there. I haven't figured out which one, but I've narrowed it down. This sucks, shouldn't Nymphs not be allergic to anything natural? Doesn't that kinda go against their whole "being in tune with nature" thing? Especially not Oreads or Dryads, the "mediators" "in-between?" Or wait, are all the biome Nymphs supposed to be in-between us and the Dryads? I forgot.
ACHOO!
I didn't really sneeze, I just wrote that down to be cute. ;)
Tania's Comment: Flower Nymph.
Nymphae Flos..
And here we approach the final of the "season" Nymphs, counting Tundra Nymphs as representing "winter." (However with multiple freezing biomes, that is under heavy debate.) Their habitat is the opposite of the Autumn Forest, being a sectioned-off part of nature that appears to be in perpetual spring regardless of the time of year or weather. The flowers are of considerable power and last throughout even the harshest weather conditions, and they are deceptively though. Some of their specimen can even fight back against the Evil Biomes on their own! Flower structures have been appearing in standard neutral forests as well, and many may confuse those with proper Flower Forest biomes. Indeed, the line between them, like many biomes and their own cousins, is fine. Just like their tied living world, the Flower Nymphs are much more durable than they look, and can last everstrong in any environment. I have a strong connection with their sort of magic. I may have even grown a few of their exotic plants to help them spread through areas devoid of life.
Closing AN:
This is one of the most likely ones to get a rename. Probably just switch the "Flower" with "Bloom" and call the biome the more... less-shitty sounding "Blooming Forest," like how I use "Harvest Forest" instead of "Redleaf Forest."
Basically you know those flower fields that... I think were added in 1.4? The parts of the Forest biome that have a big collection of flowery plants? Picture that expanded to its own biome. (And, like most if not all biomes here, it now has an "underground" counterpart.) That's this, and it might be the last of the "four season biomes" unless I decide to not have the Tundra also represent Winter.
Anyway, one more to go before the end of the first spectrum, and after that is... something "special" to mark the end of the First Quarter. You'll see tomorrow.
