It won't be like this for long: Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Logan was home from London before they knew it. It was a success. Rory and Olivia were already planning Thanksgiving dinner. The kids are in school, Logan is at the office and Rory had a doctor's appointment this morning, so she stayed home. This was the perfect time for her and Oliva to start planning the meal.
They were about halfway through with the first go at a menu when Rory had to leave for her appointment. She called Logan on the way, but Marybeth said he was in a meeting. She didn't want to disturb him. She would see him when she got to the office.
Rory's visit went as expected. She and her doctor talked about the different types of hormone replacement. She gave Rory some more pamphlets to go over so she could decide what method she wanted to use. They also discuss birth control. Because she was not completely in menopause, she could still get pregnant.
After she and the doctor talked, her nurse came to get her. She took her vitals, drew some blood, and was asked to give a urine sample. The nurse told her the results would be back in a few days. She told her to make another appointment in two or three days. They would call her if she needed to come back sooner.
Rory left the office and went straight to a Starbucks. She felt dizzy. She thought they drew too much blood. She went through the drive-thru and got two coffees and 2 muffins. She would bring one to Parker.
When she got off the elevator, Parker was waiting for her there.
"Are you tracking me? Have you put a GPS chip in my purse?" She asked Parker, handing him his coffee. She was smiling. She knew he was tracking her on 360 life. That is one of the reasons Rory wanted to get the twins a phone.
They were almost in her office when Rory stopped in her tracks. She grabbed for Parker, but he was too far ahead of her. She fell to the ground, spilling hot coffee all over her. Marybeth had witnessed Rory's fall. She jumped up and opened Logan's door without knocking. He was still in his meeting.
"Rory fainted." was all she said. Logan was up and out the door almost knocking Marybeth down in the process.
When Logan got to her. She was sitting up drinking a bottle of orange juice Parker had on his desk, while Pennye from HR was dabbing the hot coffee off her arms and legs. She was afraid it would burn her and leave a scar.
"Ace, You okay, What happened?' Logan asked. "Has anyone called an ambulance?" he asked.
"No, I'm fine. If I need to go to the Hospital, you can drive me. I am not going in an ambulance. Besides, I am okay. They drew blood at the doctor's office today. I was just a little weak, I should have stopped and eaten something besides a muffin when I got out of the doctor's office. Logan, stop fussing. Help me up. I am okay." She told him as he and Parker helped her up to sit in Parker's chair.
"Did you pick up my dry cleaning yesterday?" Rory asked Parker. He nodded.
"It's in your office. You had already left when I got back with it." He told her. Logan was looking at them like they had lost their minds. Why was she talking about dry cleaners?
"Logan, Help me to my office. I need to change." She told him. Oh, that's why. Logan grabbed the first aid kit. He knew that there was burn ointment in the kit.
Logan helped Rory put burn ointment on her arms and legs. There were only a few spots. Logan wanted to take her to the hospital or at least home, but she wouldn't have it. She kept telling him she was fine.
As the day progressed, Logan checked on Rory what felt like a hundred times. When the kids got there, he again tried to get them to take them and go home. She refused.
After Mia dropped the twins off, she headed to Stars Hollow to help Lane. The festival was this weekend. Everyone was excited.
Jess and Hanna pulled up right behind Rory and Logan when they got home. Rory parked in the garage and headed back to the driveway.
"Hey, guys, What's up? Are we expecting you?" Rory asked. Jess and Hanna were smiling.
"Can't a cousin come to visit now and again?" He asked as he helped Hanna out of the car.
"Oh, Jess, You know that you and Hanna are always welcome." She told him. She was watching them. Trying to figure out what was going on. Logan joined them.
"Don't you think we need to take this in the house? What will the neighbors think about us entertaining in the driveway?" Logan asked as he ushered them into the front door.
"You have news," Rory said with a smile as they all sat down in the family room. "Don't you. You have something to tell us." Rory said, bouncing up and down on the couch. She was looking back and forth between Jess and Hanna.
"What news do you think we have?" Hanna asked. "We stopped by to check on your burns." Rory's smile fell.
"Oh," She said. "My burns are fine. I am putting this burn ointment on them." She told them.
"What kind of news were you expecting from us?" Jess asked. Rory just put her head down. "Come on, tell us." He said.
"I thought maybe you came to tell us you were pregnant," Rory mumbled.
"Pregnant!" Hanna said. "Why would you think I was pregnant. Rory, I am as old as you are. We decided long ago that we would let nature take its course. It hasn't happened in the last 5 years, it probably won't. We are both okay with that." Hanna said. Rory nodded.
"Now come upstairs and let me look at those burns. I'm sure you don't want to strip in front of us all." Hanna said as they walked up the stairs.
Jess and Logan just sat there. Pregnant. Wow. They both were thinking that wouldn't be so bad.
