It won't be like this for long: Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Rory had taken the day off, She also kept Mia out of school. The Taylor Doose Festival is tomorrow. Tonight they will have a bonfire at the Dragonfly to announce the scholarship winner. Rory and Mia left for Star Hollow before Logan and the twins left for work and school. Mia will pick the kids up from school. The family was staying at the Dragonfly Friday night. Logan will join them when he gets off work. Rory had Michel reserve her one of the family cottages.

When Rory and Mia got to Stars Hollow, Mia dropped Rory off at Lane's office. Mia would take their bags to the cottage and return to Luke's to grab breakfast for them.

Rory and Lane were in Lane's office going over the boards, making last-minute changes to booth location. Lane told her that Babette wanted to make sure her booth was next to the lemonade booth. She had salty nuts. Babette still carried on the tradition even after Morey had passed away.

Rory's cell phone rang. She figured it was Logan or maybe Mia. "Hello…..yes this is her… I have an appointment on Monday, can't this wait?" Lane could tell by the look on Rory's face, she was annoyed with someone. Rory looked at her watch. "Yes, I can be there in about 30 minutes….Okay, I'm sorry. I have a lot on my plate this weekend. Are you sure this can't wait until Monday?" Rory asked. "Okay, I will see you in a few," Rory said and ended the call.

"That was my OB/GYN. I had blood work done on the first of the week. We have to decide what type of hormone replacement I will need. If I even need it. The nurse told me that the doctor wanted to see me today, this morning. My appointment is Monday, but she will be out of town next week. A family emergency. So, I guess as soon as Mia gets back with my car, I will head to Hartford. I promise I will be back as soon as I can." Rory told her.

Rory was leaving the doctor's office. She has her prescription in her hand. She was in a daze. She wasn't sure what to do. She needed to be in Stars Hollow helping Lane and Mia, but she knew she needed to talk with Logan.

She was sitting in her car when the phone rang. It was Logan.

"Hello….Yeah, they called while I was in Stars Hollow this morning. Something about the doctor is out of town next week. Wouldn't let me reschedule….Yeah, I guess she was worried. I'm okay…. Yes, I am sure…. Okay….Logan, before you hang up, can you meet me at the coffee shop…..yeah the one at the corner next to the office...Okay, I love you too." Rory presses the button to start the car.

When she pulled into the parking lot, which was very crowded, she looked at her watch. This would be the Friday breakfast rush. She decided to call Logan. When he answers, she tells him that she is in the parking lot and the coffee shop is full. She asked him to meet her in her car.

When he gets to the car, she has to unlock the door for him to get in.

"Ace, What's going on? You are scaring me." Logan told her as he took her hand. He saw the prescription laying on top of her purse on the floor of the car. "Did she prescribe you some medicine that is going to kill your sex drive? Is that what's wrong?" He asked for the paper with the prescription on it.

She didn't say anything. He wanted to be nosy, let him find out from the prescription for Prenatal Vitamins. He looked at the paper, then at her.

"Why would you take prenatal vitamins for menopause. Are you losing this type of vitamin?" Logan asked. He had read up on menopause. He wanted to be able to help her in any way possible.

"No, Logan, I am not going through menopause yet. I am pregnant." She told him. Logan didn't take his eyes off of her. He didn't say anything. He just stared.

"Is it safe for you?" He asked. "You're 45 years old," He told her. The minute it came out of his mouth he regretted it. She busts out crying.

"Ace, Oh Ace, I didn't mean it like that. I am just worried about you. Being pregnant at 45 is not going to be a picnic. Remember Marybeth. She had a miscarriage. She was just 40 years old. They told her that it probably had to do with her age." He was pleading with her. He didn't want her to be upset.

"I am not getting an abortion," Rory yelled. She was glad they didn't meet in the coffee shop.

"Woah, I didn't say anything about abortion. Rory babe, please, stop crying. We need to talk about this. You need to calm down." Logan said. Rory took several deep breaths.

"Okay, now. Tell me what the doctor said." He told her.

Rory calmed down and took a deep breath. She explained that the doctor wants to meet with both of them when she gets back. Rory told him that she said she didn't see any reason that she could not carry this baby to term. She told him that the doctor told her that she was healthy. She told him that when they meet with her again. She would recommend a high-risk OB/GYN. She told him that the doctor told her for them to do research, but not to let it scare them. Logan listened to everything Rory said.

He told her that having babies with her was one of his most favorite things. He reassured her that they could do this. It was not unheard of. The twins have a couple of friends that their parents were on up in age when they had them. They decided not to tell anyone until they talked with the doctor in two weeks.

Logan kissed her as he got out of the car. She needed to get back to Stars Hollow and he needed to get back to work.
