Sango found herself back in the Sengoku Era as her sixteen year old self. She was standing outside and smiled the familiarity of her old home, but at the same time, she didn't why she was here. Then up ahead, she noticed four familiar figures. A smile grew across her face as she ran up to her dearest friends. Tears formed in her eyes. It had been so long since she had last saw them after she died.

"Inuyasha!" Sango called. "Kagome-chan! Shippo! Houshi-sama!"

They didn't respond. In fact, it looked like they didn't noticed her. Frowning, Sango stopped, watching as the four converse with one another. The only thing she could do was to stand. She noticed that Inuyasha didn't had his rosery beads anymore. Sango wondered why Kagome took them off.

"...Drinking this potion will help me not feel any pain of the kazaana," Miroku said.

Kagome sighed. "I can't believe you're doing this."

"Sango would never approve of this," Inuyasha pointed out.

Miroku scoffed. "So? What does it matter? We never fought equally anyway. She always intended to protect me."

"That's because she loves you, you idiot!" Kagome shouted

Kagome stood up, but Inuyasha grabbed her shoulder. She looked at him and was about to say something, probably sit. She stopped, nodded, and sat back down, not taking her eyes off of Miroku, glaring at him with disgust.

"So you hate the idea the idea of being protected by a woman?" Inuyasha asked.

Miroku nodded. "Yes, Sango did intended to protect me."

Inuyasha Kagome, and Shippo glared at Miroku as if they wanted to rip his head off of his shoulders. Miroku reached out for Kirara, but the two-tailed cat hissed at him and leaped into Kagome's arms.

"Miroku, is this how you repay Sango's love for you?" Inuyasha growled. "By dying?! It's been a month since she died and you wanted to do this?!"

"I was planning to do it without her knowledge anyway," Miroku sighed. "Protecting me was only Sango's existence. I was just someone she latched onto."

Inuyasha growled. "You shut up! Don't you dare talk about Sango like that!"

Miroku rolled his eyes. "It's true. I'm just a proxy. Sango already thought Kohaku was a lost cause. If I died she was going to kill herself anyway. Besides, deep down, she just wanted to prove herself that she was meant to survive by saving me. After all, she couldn't save her family and village."

Suddenly, Inuyasha punched Miroku across the face. Kagome and Shippo gasped. Shippo shivered and Kagome held him in her arms, stroking his back. Inuyasha's eyes flared with fury as he punched Miroku again and again. Kagome didn't do anything, but watched.

"Sango loves you!" Inuyasha snarled. "She loves you that much and this is how you repay her?! She wants all of us to live! We all vowed to her grave that we won't let her death be in vain and this is how you repay her?! Die!?"

Finally Inuyasha stopped, breathing heavily. He gave Miroku one last death glare and stormed off. Kagome didn't go after him. Instead, she whispered comforting words to Shippo and start preparing their food. Miroku just stood there, dumbfounded of what just happened.

Sango couldn't believe what she was hearing. She always thought that they fought equally. Why didn't he tell her what he was feeling? The only thing Sango could do was to fall onto her knees as tears overflowed her cheeks. She couldn't believed what she was hearing. Ever since she fell in love with Miroku, she swore that she'll protect him and make sure Naraku was defeated so the kazaana would be gone for good. Miroku was her happiness! He was her fiancé! She even thought that if he died, she'll die along with him. Why didn't no one told her about this? She thought they were her friends. Did Miroku really love her or did he only saw her as one of those women who he'll always asked to bear his child?

As Sango got up, she wiped her tears and took a step, but Sango found herself leaning back. She tried to grabbed onto something, but she couldn't. Sango screamed as she fell into the darkness.

The next thing Sango knew, she was opening her eyes, finding herself laying in the dark. She got up and looked around. There was no light and no one was with her. Where as she? What is this place? Sango walked around, trying to find any source of light, but every time she turned, there was only nothingness. Then she noticed something shining behind her. Eyes widened, Sango turned and saw Miroku standing in front of her. Light was shining over him.

"I'm right, am I, Sango?" Miroku smirked.

Sango clenched her fists. "Shut up!"

"Validation. Proving your worth. Deep down, that was what you were feeling."

"Shut up!"

"I wouldn't be surprised you did the same thing to your new family. Imagine how would they feel when they find out why you latched onto them so easily."

Sango gasped and glared at him. "Don't you dare dragged them into this! They're different! They're not like you!"

"Are they? Do you think you'll be a capable ninja, Sango? You are strong, physically, but deep down, you are easily emotionally manipulated. Do I have to remind you all the times that happened?"

"Shut up!"

Miroku laughed. "Do you think those kappas will still love you if they find out your past life, Sango? They're a replacement. Is the love you have for them, fake?"

"Is this true?" a new voice spoke.

Eyes widened, Sango turned pale. She knew that voice. As she turned, her mouth dropped. Leo and her uncles were there, glaring at her. Their eyes were telling her that they looked betrayed.

"Chichiue, let me explain," Sango said.

Sango walked over to her father and reached out, but Leo slapped her hand away. Eyes widened, Sango could feel her eyes were filled with tears. Leo narrowed his eyes and looked away. Sango turned to her uncles, who didn't meet her eyes.

"Chichiue, please-," Sango spoke.

"You're not my daughter," Leo finally said. "I shouldn't had taken you in. Everything was all a lie, wasn't it?!"

"No, please! It wasn't! Chichiue-"

"Don't you dare call me that! I hate you!"

Leo turned his back to her and walked away, his brothers follow suit. Tears dripped from Sango's cheap as she shook her head. She couldn't believe what her father just said. This was why she didn't want to tell him her past life. All of her flaws, failures, and everything about herself was just trouble. Leo would probably think he was just a replacement of her old life. Sango thought that in this new life, she could live without worries and improve everything about herself.

"Chichiue!" Sango called.

Sango ran, reaching out for Leo, but every step she took, he and his brothers were getting farther and farther away. Sango sobbed as she fell onto the ground. Tears dripped onto the ground. She sat on her knees, putting her hands over her face as she cried some more.

Gasping, Sango woke up. The first thing she did was to look down at herself. She was still four years old. Sango could feel tears streaming down from her cheeks. As she wiped them away, the tears wouldn't stop. Sango hugged her legs, shivering as she remembered what happened in the dream. She wondered if that first scene with her friends was a memory or an actual dream. It looked so real. Then again, Kagome was still living in this era. Sango knew Inuyasha cared about her, but not that much, even after her death. He had his ways of showing it, though. It was just thought he was never upfront about it.

There was Miroku...Sango clenched her fists. If that was an actual memory, Sango wasn't sure what to think. Did he really thought of her like that? Someone that was really weak in the inside? Was there a way for her to improve that? However, Sango hated to admit it, but he was right. Sango did latched onto him. She wanted to prove to herself that she was meant to survive cause her whole family and village died. She just wanted the validation as a survivor.

Then, she remembered the encounter of the dream version of her father. Sango gnashed her teeth and cried some more. She didn't want to tell Leo about her past life. She was scared. He'll hate her. She knew he will. He'll leave her. Sango knew it was best to keep her past life as a secret and now she has more reasons to keep it. She was sure Leo and everyone would hate her. They'll believe that her love was fake, a replacement!

With a sigh, Sango climbed down from her bed and walked out of her room, quietly. She walked passed her father's room and headed into the kitchen. Sango pulled a chair and climbed up, opening one of the cabinets, revealing a box of hot chocolate mix. Sango had tried it before during the winter season and it was the best thing she ever drank. She wanted to drink it cause she couldn't stop crying. Donnie told her that drinking something warm can help someone relax.

"Young lady, why are you up at this hour?" a familiar voice spoke.

Sango turned pale and turned. Leo was wide awake with his arms crossed, glaring at her. He didn't had his mask on, which Sango had seen her father without it. Leo's anger quickly died out and he frowned, hurriedly over to her.

"What happened?" he asked. "Sweetie, are you okay?"

Sango shook. "N-No. I-I had a b-bad dream."

Leo nodded. "So you wanted hot chocolate to make you feel better, huh?"

"I-I'm s-sorry."

Leo gave her a comforting smile. "Sango, you don't need to be sorry. Next time, just go to my room, okay?"

"O-Okay."

Then Leo scooped her up into his arms. Sango quickly wrapped her tiny arms around his neck, crying. Leo soothed her and patted her arm as he stroke her hair. He rocked her a bit, whispering to her that everything was going to be okay. That calmed her down a bit, but she cried and hiccup a bit. After a few minutes, Leo pushed the chair aside. With one hand, he took the hot chocolate mix and set it on the table. It didn't took long for him to heat up the water and make some steamy hot chocolate. Leo took a tray as he walked over to his room and sat at his bed. He pulled a blanket over them and set the tray on a nightstand. Leo took a mug, holding it out to her. Sango stared at the mug and back at her father. Hesitantly, she took the mug, taking a small sip. Even Leo had a mug of his own too. The two drank their hot chocolate in silence.

"Feel better?" Leo asked.

Sango nodded. "A little bit."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Sango gulped as she finished her mug. She wanted to, but at the same time, she didn't. How was she supposed to tell him what happened? Telling Leo about her dream after her death was out of the question. The only thing she could tell him was when Leo and her uncles appeared.

"I-I had a dream that you and Uncle Raphie, Donnie, and Mikey h-hate me," Sango finally answered. "T-Then you guys l-left me."

Sango took a peak up at her father. Leo looked taken aback of what he just heard. He looked like he was about to cry. It was like as if he never expected the words to come out of her mouth. Leo put their empty mugs aside and hugged her.

"We would never hate and leave you, Sango," Leo said. "I would never do that to you. Don't you ever think we would do that to you, okay? Your uncles and I love you very much. Nothing is going to change that."

"Are you sure?" Sango asked.

"Yes, I am. No matter what happens or what you do, your uncles love you. I love you and nothing will change."

As much as Sango wanted to doubt Leo's words, she knew he would never lie to her about something like that. Sango smiled and hugged her father. Leo hugged her back and held her in his arms. He hummed a bit causing her to relax. They stayed like this for a bit until Sango yawned. She laid her head on his plastron and closed her eyes. Before she fully drifted off, Sango could feel her father kissing her forehead.
