"Hirakatsu!" A young five year old Sango shouted.

She threw her giant boomerang as it cut through the trees with ease. When the boomerang came back, she caught it without any trouble. The villagers awed and clapped. Sango wiped the sweat from her forehead and gave her villagers a smile.

"Oh my, already five years old and she knows how to use the hirakatsu," one of them said.

"Is Takara going to make Lady Sango our future chief?" the other whispered.

"I hope so. She does have potential. I think she's going to be the best demon slayer of her time."

Sango couldn't help, but blush of what her village just said. She hoped one day she'll take over her father's place as chief and lead her village. It was a dream she hoped that'll come true. Then one of her father's messengers ran up to her.

"Lady Sango, your mother just gave birth," he said. "Your father wants you, right away."

Nodding, she did as she was told. Sango put her hirakatsu away and raced over to her home. When she got there, she heard a soft whimpering sound and in front of the door was her father. He patted her head and put a finger to his lips. Sango nodded as he opened the door. A smile spread across her face as she saw her mother holding a small bundle. Her mother was beautiful, but tired due to child labor. Like her, her mother had brown hair and eyes, but unlike Sango her mother had freckles on her nose. Sango's eyes landed at the baby, who had it's eyes open. The baby also inherited their mothers eyes, hair, and freckles.

"Sango," her mother, Shinju smiled weakly. "This is your baby brother, Kohaku."

A brother? Sango thought. Sango couldn't help, but smile. She got onto her knees and gently poke Kohaku's cheek. The baby squirmed a bit and her mother chuckled, shaking her head. Shinju coughed a bit, breathing heavily. Takara turned to the midwife and servants right away ran out of the room.

"Sango, why not you go get your mother and I some tea?" Takara suggested.

Sango nodded. "Yes, Chichiue!"

At once Sango raced out of the room. Just when she was about to slide the door closed, she saw her father sighed and sat next to her mother, stroking her hair. Shinju smiled at Takara, taking his hand.

"Are you really okay?" Takara asked.

"I'm fine, I just feel ill," Shinju answered.

Takara nodded as his wife handed her Kohaku. "Kohaku is going to be a great chief one day!"

Eyes widened, Sango put a hand over her mouth, trying not to gasp. Chief? Her father wanted her little brother to be chief? Kohaku was already born and now he wanted him to be chief? Sango knew it made sense because they're his children, but already deciding that his only son should be chief, shouldn't her father considered her to take the role too?

"Chief?" Shinju questioned. "I thought you wanted Sango to be chief."

"I did," Takara said. "but now we have a son, I decided that Kohaku should be chief. I can see it in his eyes that he'll be one!"

"What about Sango? Darling, I do think Sango wants to be chief too. She's been training hard. She knows how to use the hirakatsu very well! You even gave her Kirara!"

"I know, but for now, we'll just keep those thoughts in her head. She's still young. When she's older, she'll just think being chief is a hard job. Besides, I'll train her hard enough to make sure she lives a strong and good life."

"What if the good life she wanted was to be chief? Darling, the village thinks Sango might be future chief one day."

"I'll make them think Kohaku is worthy to take over. Simple as that. Sango...I do hope when she gets older, she wouldn't interested on being chief. I don't mind if she still wanted to do demon slaying, but her being chief is a different story."

"Why is that?"

"Sango...she goes by emotion. A chief shouldn't be emotional like her. As much as I can see her lead, but her emotions will get the best of her. That's why I don't want her to be chief."

Shinju nodded as she coughed again. On her sleeve was blood. Then Sango fully closed the door as tears filled in her eyes as she walked away. Sango couldn't take it anymore. She didn't understand why it was wrong of her to be emotional. She always saw her father was a kind and respectful chief in the village. Sure, he was never emotional like her, but the fact was that he always showed he cared. Sango wiped her tears and let out a sigh. No! She wasn't going to give up on trying to be chief. She'll train harder and be the best demon slayer in her village and hopefully her father would see she's worthy to take over one day.

When Sango woke up, she found herself in a bed. The pain was gone, which she was glad. Next to her were Karai and Shinigami, who were looming over her. Shinigami had a phone in her hand. Sango guessed that they called her father and let him know what happened.

"Sango, are you okay?" Karai asked.

Sango nodded. "I'm fine! I feel great!"

Karai let out a sigh. "You had me worried there."

"How long was I asleep?"

"Only a hour. It's Friday in Japan, cause of time zones, but it's seven in the morning. Do you want to stay here and rest or...?"

Sango could tell her aunt was trying to suggest her to either stay here and relax a bit or go out and have fun. Considering the fact that Sango was here in her original home, she would rather do what she planned to do, regardless if her body was tired of time zone difference.

"Can we go to a history museum and Higurashi Shrine?" Sango asked.

"How about you go to the museum today and go to Higurashi Shrine tomorrow?" Karai suggested.

"Okay!"

"Eat something first and wash up. Shini will take you. As much as I would like to go with you, but I have to deal with Foot business."

Sango nodded and did as she was told. When she got to the table, there was a bowl of rice, fish, some vegetables, and miso soup. Without hesitation, Sango wolfed her food down. She didn't realized how hungry she was. As she was eating, she remembered that memory of her former life. She hated remembering that and she always thought it was blocked from her mind, even during her adventures with Inuyasha and her friends.

However, Sango knew her father was right. She was so emotional after the slaughter of her family that she was willingly to do things like betraying her friends, killing Kohaku, and kill herself. She hated to admit that her father was right. She wasn't worthy of being chief. Just like how Sango thought she wasn't worthy of being the future heir of the Hamato Clan. Sooner or later, Leo would find a wife and had a son, who'll be future heir and like always, Sango wouldn't be considered for the role.

As soon as she finished, Sango quickly brushed her teeth and put on a change of clothes. A simple black T-shirt, a unzipped blue hooded jacket, and a light blue skirt. She had her Space Heroes backpack that was filled with snacks.

Shinigami and Sango left, waving to Karai. It didn't took them long to drive to the museum. Shinigami paid for the tickets and the two walked inside. Sango awed at everything she saw. In each section, there was a specific time period in Japan. Without hesitation, Sango took her aunt's hand, dragging her into the Sengoku Period section. When they got there, Sango's eyes widened. It felt like she was transported back in time. Even though some of it were models and antiques, but she could tell which was which right away. She couldn't help, but take pictures.

Sango walked ahead of her aunt, not too far from her. Then she stopped and looked up. Her eyes widened as she recognized a familiar weapon. Her weapon, the hirakatsu. The old boomerang was up on the wall, having a glass casing over it. On the description, it said, "This ancient weapon was once held by a demon slayer. It was said that this very weapon was in the fairytale stories of the Shikon no Tama."

Next to her hirakatsu was a demon slayer uniform. It was her uniform and Kohaku's. Her skin-tight suit was worn out and it still had the shred marks from where she died. The pink shoulder pads still had it's shine. Like her hirakatsu, her suit was covered in glass casing. Sango let out a sigh. She never thought she'll be able to see her old gear and weapon again. She thought that it was either lost or destroyed by the elements. Sango had an urge of wanting to hold hirakatsu one last time, but she knew that was impossible. She didn't had her old strength like she used to. After all, she was in a body of a four year old. Sango felt like she wanted to cry, but she knew she couldn't. She didn't want to draw suspicion from her aunt. After all, Sango knew she'll have the time to cry later.

"You okay?" Shinigami asked. "You were staring at these for five minutes."

"They look cool," Sango replied.

Shinigami chuckled. "They are, aren't they? It's too bad no demon slayers are around today. It'll be interesting to learn how they train."

Sango narrowed her eyes, clenching her fists. As much as Sango didn't like to hear the truth, but she knew she had to. She let out a sigh as she walked passed her aunt, looking around what she recognized. She saw some red robes, which Sago speculated that they were from the fire rat. As she kept walking, she stopped as she saw an ancient Japanese painting of the Sengoku Period. Her eyes widened. It was a painting of a demon slayer wielding the hirakatsu. The demon slayer looked like her!

"That's a famous demon slayer," Shinigami said. "It was speculated that she was inspired for the demon slayer in the fairytale of the girl who leaped through time. Like both stories, they died in an untimely death."

"Did she had any friends?" Sango asked.

"She did," Shinigami replied. "Sources said she also had a fiancé, but he was a leacher. I'm not sure what happened to him through. It was said that they were both inspired in the fairytale."

"What's her name?"

"I don't know. Sources couldn't find her name. They believed it wasn't on record because how the fairytale was so well known that no one was named. A lot of people think she was named after a gem."

Sango couldn't help, but chuckle. Of course she was named after a gem. Her father in her past life told her that her name meant to protect people from evil spirits because of the special properties of coral. Sango wondered if Leo knew that. All she knew that Leo named her because it was convenient. Then again, there are a lot of things Leo never told her.

While they were looking around, Sango noticed there were a couple of girls looking at the painting of her. They were talking among each other, but they were very loud. Sango couldn't helped, but walked near them, but she made sure she was near her aunt.

"I heard the demon slayer had a fiancé who was a leacher," one of the girls said.

"I heard that too," the other said. "Why did she chose a man like that for? Was he even loyal to her?"

"In the fairytales, it said she put up with hit and lashed out at him for it, but he kept doing it. It said he only did it cause he was going to die and how he wanted someone to bear his child to carry his curse."

"Really?! That's stupid! Why not stop the bloodline with him? At least the demo slayer didn't need to put up with him anymore."

You got that right, Sango thought. Sango was glad she didn't need to deal with Miroku anymore. She was glad that Leo made her realized and questioned Miroku's action. She couldn't help it, but feel angry every time he was mentioned.

After Sango and Shinigami look around more of artifacts from the Sengoku Period, which Sango reminisced, they looked around other exabits. Sango was amazed how the history of Japan changed to quickly over time. They even looked at old paintings, which Sango took some pictures of. After they were done, the two went to a gift shop, where Sango bought a replica of ancient Japanese paintings. She even bought some hats, t-shirts, key chains, mugs, and insulated water bottles. She even bought some museum snacks too. When they were done, Sango and Shinigami went to a conveyer belt sushi restaurant, where Karai was waiting for them.

"How did it go?" Karai asked.

"It was so cool!" Sango exclaimed. "I like the one with the demon slayer."

"We were looking at the artifacts in the Sengoku Period," Shinigami explained.

Karai chuckled. "Glad you have fun. Come on, let's eat!"

When they went inside, they got to their seats and waited for the sushi to go around. As Sango ate, she couldn't help, but think about everything that just happened. Her memories and how everything she worked for was for nothing. Her dream of being chief was taken, her love for Miroku was nothing more than attachment, and how her demon slayer training was a waste. Sango planned to asked Leo about taking over the Hamato Clan one day, but now she wasn't sure if she should considered it. She's afraid that the past might repeat itself again.

Sango knew Leo was different from her old father, but she was scared that he might share the same thoughts of her. Takara trained her so hard to the point her muscles hurt and how he kept telling her he wanted her to take over his duties one day was a lie. Everything she worked for was a lie and pointless thoughts Takara gave her.

The Sango glanced at her Aunt Karai. Sango knew the story of her aunt, how she was taken and raised in the Foot Clan. Despite being adopted, her aunt was heir of the Foot Clan before Shredder's death and was treated with respect. Even after she discovered her true lineage, she still decided to take over the Foot Clan, while Leo took over the Hamato Clan. As much as Sango despised the Foot Clan in her past life, she had to admit that they treated Karai better than how Takara treated her.

"Aunt Karai," Sango said.

"Yes, do you need something, Sango?" Karai chewed on her sushi.

Sango shook. "No, I was wondering...did Shredder ever gave you false hope of being leader of the Foot Clan?"

Karai and Shinigami stared at her as if she grew another head. Shinigami quickly shoved some food into her mouth. Karai blinked a few times and let out a sigh. She drank her tea and put her hand over Sango's.

"No, he never did," Karai said. "The thing about Shredder was that when he wanted something, he'll stop nothing until he gets it. For him wanting me to take over the Foot Clan was something he always wanted. He trained me hard for it and he never gave me any false hope. In fact, he gloats about it. If anyone questions...well we know what happens. I know Shredder is very messed up, but I hate to admit that he does have...some good qualities. Sango, why are you asking this?"

Sango narrowed her eyes. "I want to be leader of the Hamato Clan. I really do. I know Chichiue is thinking about making me heir, but I heard that he wasn't sure. Does that mean he doesn't want me to?"

Karai sighed. "Sango, the reason why Leo wasn't sure is not because he's not giving you false hope. He's not sure is because of the pressure he'll put on you and worrying of your safety. He doesn't you to have a mental breakdown because of it. Deep down, he does want you to take over."

"Even if he'll have a son one day?" Sango questioned.

Karai nodded. "Yes, even if Leo ends up having another child, you being leader would still be in his mind. It doesn't matter if Leo had a son or not. Leo would always consider you as leader. I was almost leader of the Hamato Clan, but I chose the Foot because I wasn't raised as Yoshi's daughter. I was raised as Shredder's and I've always wanted to take over the Foot Clan. Now I did."

"You don't need to worry about it, Sango," Shinigami put a hand on her shoulder. "After the trip, just talk to Leo. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that you wanted to take over."

Sango blinked. "R-Really? What if I'm not good enough?"

Karai smiled. "Just talk to him, Sango. I'm sure you are good enough. Besides, I overheard that Leo might secretly train you to be leader, so you better ask him."

Sango smiled as she ate her sushi. Then she remembered how when she was an infant, Leo and Raph were talking about her being leader and the pressure Leo was scared to put on her. Sango couldn't believed she forgot about that part. She was so focus on trying to find answers after her death that she forgot some things. Now she thought about it, Leo was scared to put pressure on her.

After everyone ate, the trio stepped outside. Sango looked up at the night sky as she saw a full moon. She couldn't help, but smile and nodded to herself as she held her head up high. She didn't need to be scared if she's not worthy of the Hamato clan anymore. This was her present and not her past. Everything was different now. Leo was different. As Sango breathed in the fresh air, she could feel a new form of confidence and hope inside of her.
