It had been six days since Kanji lost Dragomon. He kept heading straight in one direction through the forest, yet he was no closer to finding his sister. "Dragomon, why'd you have to go," he sobbed. Dodging other digimon had been tough, but he kept pushing forward and chose stealth as his best approach. What he needed was to find another egg. With it, he could make another digimon with his Dragon Gauntlet and be able to fight off enemies head on instead of dodging them all the time hoping he'd never get spotted.

"Pesky child is heading right into my nest," a creature thought from within the shadows. "I shall grab him, and then I shall feed him to my children."

Kanji saw a nest up on the tallest tree in the forest. He decided he had no choice but to climb the tree. Back on earth it would have been difficult, but he had grown accustomed to living in the wild, here in the digital world. Kanji begun climbing the tree. It took hours, and he had to stop at a branch to take a break several times, but eventually he made his way to the top and noticed three unusually large eggs sitting at the top. He remembered the snake girl was able to have more then one digimon. Maybe he could increase his ranks also, and come back at her with an army. He'd be able to avenge Dragomon. He remembered Yoriki Dragonmon's last words.

"Kanji don't g-give up on f-finding your sister," Kanji's memory of Yoriki Dragonmon spoke up.

"I won't buddy," Kanji growled under his breath. "I will find my sister and get home." No one will distract him, not even the Snake girl. He reached for one of the egg's, but then felt a large gust of wind blow at him, nearly knocking him off the nest.

"Don't touch my children," the digimon screamed.

He saw a large bird, with armor and big black wings fly above himself.

"Guantlet, what is that?"

"It is Crowmon," the guantlet responded. "This fierce bird is an Ultimate Digimon. It will drown you in darkness, or burn you with it's claws."

"Ultimate?", Kanji responded. "A level above Yoriki Dragonmon." Kanji backed up for a moment, and then remembered the eggs. If he can get a hold of one, he'd be able to fight off Crowmon. No, escaping was a better option." He grabbed his backpack and threw it at Crowmon who tore it apart with ease. Kanji then moved for one of the eggs, grabbed it, and then jumped off the nest.

"My child," Crowmon yelled in anger. Crowmon flew down after Kanji as he fell. "Flaming Claw!"

Kanji managed to catch one of the branches, but it was cut in half and lit on fire by Crowmon causing him to continue falling. He tossed the half of a flaming branch at Crowmon causing the bird to fly back and dodge the attack as it continued it's pursuit. Kanji landed in a few bushes and grunted as he felt pain rush through his body. Despite this, he rolled into a separate bush and hid as Crowmon begun tearing appart the nearby bushes as Kanji crawled away. He then hid behind the tree and clenched the egg against his chest with the gauntlet.

"You chose the element of fire last time, would you like to choose a different element this time?"

"I need to stay hidden," Kanji grunted.

"Element of darkness chosen," the gauntlet decided. "hatching egg now."

A familiar reptilian face formed from the egg, however. This face had slight differences from the Toothmon Kanji knew. It was purple, and had red eyes. It also had a shuriken scar on it's forehead.

"Digivolve it now," Kanji growled under his breath.

"Toothmon Digivolves to Wyvermon," the Digimon spoke up. The Digimon turned from it's Fresh form into it's Rookie form immediately. Again, the digimon looked similar to Dragomon, except it's color was black, purple, and midnight blue. It carried two shorter blades at it's sides rather then Dragomon's katana, and it had a gemstone on it's forehead.

"Shadow Cloak," Wyvernmon softly spoke up in a feminine voice. Suddenly Kanji begun to turn completely invisible along with the short dragon in his arms. "Move now master," the digimon spoke within Kanji's mind. He crawled away to safety as Crowmon tore apart the area with anger.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

"Thank you for saving me Wyvermon," Kanji smiled. As he stared at her, he felt uneasy. What if the same thing happens to this digimon that hapened to Yoriki Dragonmon. "We need to grind."

"G-grind master?", the digimon repeated with confusion.

"It's a gaming term," Kanji explained. "It means we have to get you strong enough to be able to defeat that Ultimate Digimon. Then avoiding danger will be much easier. Then we can go find my sister."

"Excuse my confusion master," she softly responded. "But what exactly is my purpose?"

Kanji looked at her and then realised she was only born an hour ago. "Protecting me is your purpose. Just like my purpose is to protect my sister."

"I understand master," Wyvermon nodded as she transformed back to her baby form. "I'm afraid training won't help protect you right now master. Only hiding at the moment. We shall only move at sundown and sunrise, but never during the day or night. Dangerous digimon live in these woods and they travel around those times. "Let us rest for now."

"What? Your not the boss of me." He stood up aggravated, but fell back down as a rush of pain came over his body.

"It appears my master took a lot of damage before I was born," she deduced. "I apologize master, but the best way to protect you is to keep you from hurting yourself further."

"I'm fine," he lied.

"Oh please," the digimon yawned. "I can tell your in great pain." She breath a purple smoke from her mouth into Kanji's face causing him to fall back drowsy. "Sleep for now, and I will tell you when we can move."

"H-how dare you," Kanji growled under his breath before passing out."
