Entry 57: Dawn Nymphs

Beginning AN:

Congratulations for getting past the debut of Dave! I'd give you all cake if I could.

"Vs Tatiana" (specifically the EDM one) has been fucking stuck in my head for a few days now help.

"Tania how have you never went on a Dawn river ride?" Sonata asked while 'The Trio' ran through the bright and sunny (well it was just at the time really, if it were night the place would still be under night light and everything) pale forests. Ones where there were barely any shadows. That was somewhat important.

"I actually have." Tania replied. "Multiple times. The last was just ten years ago-"

"So that's too long. Come on, this is the perfect chance for me to take you on one!"

Vince proved himself to be pretty damn agile, only rarely using his wings and finding good spots to land in. He'd only slip and fall in the water on occasion, but he still did better than Tania or Sonata.

Once they approached an especially large river, Sonata - still holding Tania by the hand - used her free hand to call out to the resident Dawn Nymphs: "HEY! DO THE THING!"

And several of the Nymphs of the place (also, one Satyr) emerged from the deep waters, with large, fancy golden boats in hand.

"YOU OWE US A LOT!" One of them shouted at Sonata.

"GLADLY NOTED! NOW, LET'S GO!"

The Dawn Nymphs all quickly swam away from their boat, the trio boarding it gladly. Sonata even waved to the one that spoke to her, and she waved back in kind.

"This is fun!" Sonata said.

"I know that already... I enjoy these." Replied Tania.

"Ten years without doing one of these is too long. You should at least go on one of these weekly."

Vince shrugged. "I mean... it's best to not dimish the fun. Especially when you're long-lived."

"Well that's not really the reason why I don't do this weekly," Tania replied, "it's more of that I just didn't have the time - but now with the world returning to a state of peace-"

And a huge splash hit the water right behind them. The trio all looked up, reminding them why they (or at least Vince and Tania) were running in the first place:

That fucking pig shark monster charged yet again, looking pissed off, and happened to burry himself in the yellowish grass, barely and only giving them a millisecond of freedom.

"I still think we should Recall." Vince said.

"Lure it back to the Ocean," Tania told him, "we learned that the hard way already."

"Yeah just set sale and we'll throw shit and use or ol' Nymph and Dryad Bane on him!" Sonata said. "We got this! We don't want our Truffle Worm catch to go to waste!"

Vince brought his Eventide out and tapped it on the deck. He did not have the Terraprisma because he was not completely fucking insane. "Nah, I can keep him held back a little. You two enjoy your river ride."

Duke Fishron emerged from the ground and roared, LOUDLY, to the skies, before taking his eyes back on the trio.

"TO THE OCEAN!" Sonata shouted, pointing from the front of the ship. "WHERE THE NAKED EMPIRE WILL DEAL WITH YOU, YOU MUTANT FOUL BEAST!"

The one Dawn Nymph that spoke to Sonata earlier jumped on the top of the boat, sighing, and fired some dim yet painful light at him, buying the group more time. She also whipped out a custom light gold sword of hers. With two initials written on the handle - NE.

"Ahem," Tania said, "Duke Fishron was the result of mutation caused by nuclear waste and oils carelessly thrown in to the seas, so this 'mutant foul beast' is not at fault for being who he-"

"Can you save the environmental rant for AFTER we don't have this thing on our tail?!" Vince shouted. He clung on to the Eventide like it was his security blanket.

"Sorry."

"Yeah come on we need to enjoy all these golden lights in the water." Sonata said, patting Tania's shoulder. The Dawn Nymph chuckled.

By the way.

They would eventually need to Recall and fight him later. That wasn't the Duke Fishron fight.

Dawn Nymphs.

The Nymphs of the golden lands and rivers are some of the toughest out there. With bodies as if they are made of metal, beware if you take a swim in the golden lakes.

Preferred Environment: Dawn Rivers.

Environment Threat Level: Calm.

Environment Stats: Moist. Cool. Moderate-fantastic. Uncommon. Forests with yellow-orange leaves and water noteworthy for their wildlife having a "shiny" sheen to them, and the rivers oddly intersecting. Some of these rivers feed in to caves leading to a small "underground" counterpart, but this is mostly a surface biome.

Other Names: Gleam Nymphs, Shiny Nymphs, Glitter-Gold Nymphs.

Affinity: Water.

Color: Light Gold.

Traditional Costume Weapon: Small rings with shiny gemstones on them, usually around their fingers or upper arms. Lets them control their waters or rivers in general, and plantlife relating to their biome. Or most trees that have 'pale yellow' flowers or leaves.

Vince's Comment: I keep falling in to water pits when I try exploring this place. I mean, there are worse biomes with even more water pits and rivers, it's just that I don't pay too much attention. The Nymphs here have been some of the less-helpful I encountered, to be honest.

Sonata's Comment: If I actually wore sunglasses, this would be the exact place I would wear them at. Well... maybe not THIS one, there's one coming up right next that's better. Anyway, it's another kind of chill biome, where the Nymphs can be a bit... dangerous. Tread with caution. And you're better off swimming rather than walking. Or best of all, taking a boat or riding a water mount.
...
Also, please no piss jokes in general. Just, no. Fuck you. Direct all of that at the Crimson and its "ichor" instead.

Tania's Comment: Dawn Nymphs.
Nymphae Diluculum.
The biggest curiosity of the Dawn Rivers are not so much the light reflected - that is a simple genetic quirk of the plantlife, with the animals eventually settling in after mutants with the ability to camouflage with it found it as a good region to live in - no, it is how the rivers can intersect. This is a misunderstanding. It's not so much "two rivers crossing" as it is that the region holds plenty of deep ditches that break and branch off in different directions, rich with the real biome energy, and these ditches are filled with water that flows from the mountains or other sources. The rivers are following the path that was already laid there, the extra-rich bounds being resistant even to erosion over millennia. These Nymphs reflect on this, having soft exteriors but among some of the hardest organs out of all the variants, making them desceptively hard. They are nearly indestructible to most forms of harm.

Closing AN:

Day 19. Not too much to say (I mean I could talk that this day introduced a major villain but fuck Dave). These were just kind of... "more of the same" biomes. Oh, I've been... kind of trying to lean away from referring to the Nymphs by color every mini-story. Just experimenting a little bit.

...Oh shit I forgot while I was writing the stories, this is the tenth anniversary of the first post-Charlie season of Two and a Half Men, and the tenth anniversary of Carl Stevens of Hecksing Ulumate Crconikals... I had thought about having one of the chapters set during the Martian Madness event (I mean an earlier one was technically but the Trio was hiding out) but forgot. They were even going to kill a Martian that, inexplicably, was a lot like Carl. (But was not literally the same character because I can't stand the thought of this being set in the same universe as HUC. And by proxy, that would be HHC too, double vomit noises.)

Holy fuck I think this is the second chapter where we see an actual "boss fight." The first, by the way, was the previous one. Dave is... technically a "boss." Well, he wasn't at the moment since he was painfully under-equipped. So I guess this is the first?

Another name-changer: Originally "Gleam" was the name until I realized that I had a "Dusk Nymph" one but no "Dawn Nymph." So... this wasn't meant to be the foil to the Dusk Nymphs at first, which may explain some inconsistencies and how they don't quite "foil together" very well.

Speaking of which, the roughs are finally at Entry 100, and while yesterday I've just done half of the rough (except, again, the mini-story), tonight I plan to both finish that and FINALLY do the damn Dryad Entry already! Then I can finally look back and do some "finals" and stuff early on, which is good because holy fuck I really rushed through Part 4 and slapped together shit randomly so I'd love to have as much time as possible to touch it all up.

Okay I'll drop the "Everybody Hates Dave" joke for a moment and say something. That last chapter implied that there's a "second" Nymph Army.

Remember that. Maybe not for here, but for RTLD, throw that on the "This is just a preview for the real story sorry" pile.
