The duo stood close to the ring with their matching sweatshirts hiding her horns and Amethyst's skin color. The two were early and had gotten great seats because of it.

Amethyst breathes in deeply, admiring the scent of gym sock and crappy mat, of popcorn and spilled drink. This was nostalgic, this was fantastic. The slightly destroyed old factory hosted many events. But wrestling was one of her favorites. And the best part was that this was newcomer night. Which was perfect for what she had in mind.

"I don't like this. I want to go back to my cave." Jasper grumbles down to the shorter woman. Amethyst glances up and sticks out her tongue in response.
"Tough. And what's the matter? Scared of some people? They're just humans. Trust me you make them much more nervous."

"How? And why?"
"Besides the fact you're like eight feet tall and have horns? You have a hair trigger temper and could snap at any moment. Now be quiet and watch the show is going to start." Amethyst said pointing towards the wrestling stage. Jasper sits back with a pout crossing her arms. She had to admit that this weird human clothing felt fantastic, warm, soft, like a living animal. She almost felt relaxed. But she couldn't get too relaxed, after all she was in enemy territory and who knows when all of the humans might just turn on her and choose to randomly attack her?

She hadn't seen it happen yet, but earthlings were tricky little animals. And she wasn't going to put it past them.

She taps her foot and rubs her chin, wondering what the two humans were doing in the middle of the mat. One of them was smiling widely and holding the others hand. They were dressed in matching suits and had rings around their fingers. Which meant something to them since the smiling one brought the mopey looking ones hand to his mouth and pressed his lips to it.

Steven normally did that to anything that was hurt or sick or weak. Jasper wondered why the smiling human was being so accomodating to the sickly looking human.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Mr. Smiley shouted out at the top of his lungs to the surrounding people. The cheers instantly went up. "Tonight my husband and I are proud to announce that it is newbie night! Now you all know what that is, but why don't you explain it to the nice people Frowney?" Mr. Smiley said as he gestured towards his husband who continues to frown and sighed deeply.

"Tonight someone is probably going to get horribly injured by a fellow fighter that they used to be close friends too."
"Hopefully it will be a physical injury! Emotional injury's are a foul!" Mr. Smiley said. He was sweating. Everyone was staring and someone coughed. A cricket chirped. Smiley sighed, well his first joke didn't land, which meant that he had to try twice as hard with the next joke!

He took a stronger stance and held Mr. Frowney's hand up, their wedding rings catching the light.

"Now! We are pleased to announce that we have plenty of new blood out here tonight! And a grand prize of five hundred dollars! Only redeemable at the boardwalk, some not able to be used during certain days of the week such as Sundays!"
"Great, my only day off. Now I'll just have to sit at home and do nothing." Mr. Frowney said morbidly. Amethyst chuckles awkwardly beside Jasper who was frowning in confusion. Most of Jasper's emotions were frowns, if she was sad, frown, happy, frown, confused, frown. And so on.

"This is really really bad." Amethyst grumbles to Jasper elbowing her 'sis' in the ribs and chuckling. It was totally awkward! Smiley really should have stuck with his announcing gig.

"I am so confused. What is supposed to be happening here?" Jasper complains to her 'teacher'. If she was just going to watch two people being lovey dovey and awkward all the time she would have just stalked Steven and his Pearl...no wait...his Connie. She was not a pearl. Jasper kept on forgetting that.

"Look it's going to start soon. You'll probably want to sign up soon anyway once you see how this game is played." Amethyst said. Jasper snorts. She seriously doubted that this would be any fun. Amethyst assumed too much of her, it wasn't like Jasper was going to get interested in just anything that humans did.

"Our first contestant is The Waffler versus The Green Warrior!" Smiley announced and gestured to a guy with thick glasses holding a waffle iron standing across from a portly man dressed all in green with a sack tied to his head. He had to move it around so that he could look out the eyeholes.

"Woof, they just let anyone up to do this now huh?" Amethyst winced. She was used to fighting beefier guys in the ring, these two were just...sort of sad honestly...

The two men rushed forwards, the Waffler waving his iron and screeching as The Green Warrior got into a dramatic pose and brought a leg up trying to slap the guy.

Jasper sat up suddenly interested. Sure it was pathetic...but she recognized this!

"This is a gladiator ring?" She said suddenly perking up and glancing between Amethyst and the ring. Amethyst glanced at Jasper and smirks. She knew that random violence would get through to her! This wasn't as hard as everyone had made it out to be. In fact Amethyst was willing to bet that she had just gotten Jasper hook line and sinker.

"Yep! It's called wrestling. The point is to fight your opponent until they give up, or you pin them. Weapons aren't typically allowed you have to grapple them into submission." Amethyst said gesturing towards the ring. Jasper nods studying the two opponents before wincing.

"These two are...very very bad. Just. Just awful." She said wincing and shaking her head.

"Yeah these two suck. But the good wrestlers can be fantastic. Like you see that mural of the purple puma? He was one of the best." Amethyst said crossing her arms with a proud smirk on her face gesturing towards the massive mural that showed her doing a pose, her arms up and flexing her eyes as big as her grin.

"That's you. That is obviously you." Jasper pointed out with a sniff, not fooled by a instant by the transformed gem. Amethyst cracks her knuckles and puts her hands behind her head her smirk growing.

"Yep. I was pretty great." She says trying not to toot her own horn. Jasper rolls her eyes and focuses back on the fight. The next wrestlers had gone up and fought and were being dragged off.

Jasper continued to watch but gradually began to fidget. Amethyst noticed and checked the watch she had 'borrowed' from Steven. Jasper had sat still for longer then she had expected. It was just about the right time to pull out the big guns.

"Aren't there any real fighters? Someone impressive? Someone who actually uses a weapon?" Jasper complained before Amethyst shook her head with a chuckle.

"Oh no no no. We don't do weapons here. I told you that already learn to listen for once." Jasper snorts and Amethyst gestured broadly towards the side. "Besides if you want to see something impressive I say go on in."

Jasper glances at the stage and then down towards Amethyst suspicously.
"What are you talking about? Is this another one of your tricks?"
"No trick. I signed you up to fight. I figured you would enjoy it." Amethyst said. Jasper stood up sharply, her eyes glinting in delight. Amethyst grinned as she watched Jasper march towards the ring. Her hair flaring out behind her. Her sweat shirt struggled off and tossed to the side.

"And now a brand new challenger approaches! She stands at a whopping..." Mr. Smiley began trying to measure himself to Jasper. She just grabbed the mic out of his hands and glowered at the audience.

"Who dares challenge me?" She growls. Her snarl was large and looked positively feral. Amethyst began to get second thoughts. That wasn't a happy looking fighting face.
"Oh crud. I should have probably explained this better." Amethyst mumbles as Mr. Smiley steps back for a moment taken aback. A equally muscular man steps onto the ring, he was covered in baby oil, was incredibly muscular, and had a thick handle bar mustache. He growls and flexes as he walks forwards. Jasper glances at him and then towards Mr. Smiley with a quirked eyebrow.

"Really? A human? And a human that looks like that?" She snorts before cracking her neck and getting into a fighting stance. "Pathetic."

She snaps out before rushing forwards. Mr. Smiley yelps and only has a second to lunge out of the way before Jasper grabs the wrestler and prepares herself to snap him in half.

She grips his arm and pulls him sharply only for it to slide out of her gripe. The baby oil prolonged the fight. But not for long.

"What the? Another trick! Why can't anyone just fight me head on!" Jasper roars as she shakes her hands in distaste. The wrestler ran behind her and jumped onto her back. She was around a head taller then him. He was grunting and gasping putting her in a choke hold, kicking his feet at the air and at the back of her knees trying to force her downwards. Jasper glances over her shoulders at him unimpressed before managing to snag a knee.

"Got cha." She growls before jumping up with all of her might.

"Oh boy." Amethyst mumbles out as the entire audience gasps. Jasper had leapt twenty feet straight up. Her hair flares out like a pair of white firey wings. And then she crashes back towards the mat. Back first. The squeaking wrestler clinging to her back winces expectantly.

The crunch is sickening and the screaming starting a few seconds later is deafening.

Jasper stands up from the macho man with her arms above her head. She turns in a circle with her hands clasped and a massive smirk on her face.

"HUH! EASY! IS THAT THE BEST YOU GOT!" She shouts to the audience. Everyone is staring at her. Faces pale, hands clutched to mouths. Someone is off to the side getting sick. Mr. Frowney is nervously beside the man and rubbing his head grumbling 'you'll be okay' over and over again.

Jasper pauses confused. She glances around. These people had been cheering on those other guys not too long ago. They had been celebrating the victor maybe thirty seconds ago! The last few rounds the victors were almost paraded around like Diamonds!

Jasper glances at a nearby group of young teenagers who melt back in fear. She glances towards the other wrestlers, only a few of them had kept their lunch down.

"HEY! What's the matter with 'chu!" A large wrestler jumped over the ring. His head was shaved and he had on thick sunglasses. He was wearing a dumb bowtie. Jasper glances him up and down in confusion.

"What? I beat him. Isn't that the entire point?" She snarks with a frown glancing at the man on the mat whose leg was at a bad angle. A large part of the crowd were packing up and leaving, clearing a space for medic's to move through quickly.

"It's a show you moron! We don't fly into the air and just snap people in half! Who does' something like chat?" He snarls poking Jasper in the chest with extreme prejudice. Jasper growls. Lets them get two more pokes in, then grabs their finger and snaps it cleanly.

The wrestler howls and drops to his knee holding his hand and sobbing in pain. Jasper glances around. She doesn't get it! She did what they wanted! She played the game right! She did exactly what she was told! Subdue her opponent! Why was that a bad thing? Why was that wrong? What just because she didn't put on a show or something?

She sniffs dismissively down towards the onlookers. They resembled so many other gems. Pathetic ruby's who feared her wrath, hoity toity Emeralds who turned up their noses at her, dismissive Garnets, high ranking Jades, intelligent Peridots who made little holograms of her behind her back that said dumb brute. Countless warriors, upper crust gems and all other sorts who looked down their noses at her just because she was the best she was at what she did!

"OKAY! WE OUT!" Amethyst shouts jumping onto the stage, her form had shifted. She was taller, more triangular, she looked like an overblown doll of what an Amethyst was supposed to look like, except with a more triangular masculine body.

"Purple Puma? You returned?!" Mr. Smiley says in amazement as Amethyst leaps over the rings, scoops Jasper up much to her surprise and leaps with all of her might out of the ring and towards the roof. People were finally cheering. Finally clapping. Jasper heard them. She let herself get carried away, it would have been easy to beat all of those weak sniffling jerks up, break their backs, snap their spines, destroy their legs and tear their arms off. But there would have been no sport to it. No glory. No challenge. And she was only fine with beating up weaker gems.

Beating up weaker humans was like swatting a fly, absolutely no point.

Amethyst dropped Jasper on the boardwalk, her form snapping back to normal with a snarl.

"WHAT WAS ALL OF THAT ABOUT!?" Amethyst shouts poking Jasper aggressively in the chest. Jasper snorts and starts walking out of the town. Amethyst sprints ahead of her and stands with her arms crossed.
"HEY! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!"

"Home. IF they can't handle me giving one hundred percent then why should I bother." Jasper responds as Amethyst sighs and rubs her forehead. Of course, she really should have explained it better, wrestling was a show, most of it staged. And someone like Jasper who gave one hundred percent of herself in everything that she did wouldn't understand that. Which left only two options.

Quit.

Or the much harder one.

"I'm going to have to teach Jasper restraint. I'm going to have to teach her how to be delicate." Amethyst says rubbing her chin. A distant streetlight shivers and then falls over. Amethyst sighs. Jasper definitely punched that thing for getting in her way.

"Ugh! Quitting would have been so much easier." Amethyst grumbles before turning around and heading back towards the beach house. Hopefully Pearl would still be awake with a cup of tea or warm hot sauce or something.

Amethyst could distantly hear Jasper marching around and ranting angrily to herself.
