Jasper stood tapping her foot as she glanced up at the sun. Amethyst was late. And she was in the middle of little homeschool. Which made her uncomfortable. A feeling that Jasper did not enjoy at all. She grumbled in irriation before she turned to stalk off back towards the woods. She could be back to her pile of rocks before the sun got too high in the sky if she started now.

"Whoa. Hey. You're early." A voice called out behind her. Jasper turned around, crossing her arms and glowering down at Amethyst who stood smirking.
"You said come around in the morning. It's morning. I showed up. You didn't. Why?" Jasper snapped out as Amethyst quirked an eyebrow.

"Dude classes don't start until nine. And the class that you're going to sign up for starts at ten. I'm surprised that you got here so early. How long have you been waiting out here?" Amethyst said as Jasper snorted.

"None of your business but a long time. So what sort of stupid team building activty are you going to force upon me so that I learn the importance of teamwork or friendship or some other sort of nonsense that you want to drill into my head." Jasper snarled. Amethyst grinned knowingly before taking Jasper's hand and dragging her inside of a nearby small hut.

"Actually I figured that since you don't get along with other gems. Or anyone for that matter. You might want to try a private course. We do this for some of our more intense students. Gems like you who are still in war mode and don't get that they can relax a little."

"There is no other gem like me." Jasper snapped out as she plopped cross legged in the middle of the floor and glared into Amethyst's eyes.

"Yeah well you're right there. We've had to do this maybe three times. Counting you. Most gems are actually rational and decide that they want to live a normal healthy adjusted life instead of fighting and arguing all the time. But we've all gotten the hang of this. So you're going to get to do some art. Or as the teachers call it meep morping. Which you are probably going to hate." Amethyst said as Jasper frowned.

"Don't tell me how I'm going to feel about something before I do it. It's insulting runt." Amethyst smirked as she patted Jasper on the shoulder.

"Welp have fun tough guy. I'll be back at the end of the class." A scrape from the floorboards made Amethyst pause. She glanced over her shoulder to see Jasper up and looking after her with wide wild eyes, like a cornered bear.

"Wait what? I thought you were the teacher?" Jasper said with a grim tone of voice. Amethyst smiled in response.

"Aw. You care about me now or something?" Jasper snorted in response and plopped back down.
"No. I don't. I just expected you to keep on teaching me this...whatever this is."

"I can't teach you everything. You've got to branch out now and again. Trust me. These teachers are geniuses. You're going to do great. And I can't wait to see what you make at the end of the lesson!" Amethyst said as she closed the door on the quartz super solider. Jasper sat on the floor. Frowning. She snorted. So what? It wasn't like she was dependent on amethyst for everything!

She could do this, it was probably just some lame gems that had never once bothered to fight a real war. Some hippy losers that thought too highly of themselves. Jasper studied the room. There were piles of clay, a few buckets filled with rocks, dozens of googly eyes plastered everywhere. And an adhesive agent in a large bottle called crazy glue. Besides that there were no windows. The walls and ceiling glowed naturally from some sort of gem technology. Jasper didn't understand it, and frankly she didn't feel like understanding it. She had better stuff to worry about.

She ground her teeth together and picked at the floor. It was splintering a bit. It had been masproduced with a few other buildings. All of the small buildings had a lot of quirky personality. But that didn't mean that they were well made.

Jasper sighed and tapped her hands on the floor. She wished that she could see the sun and could guess at the time.

The door finally began to ease open, what felt like hours later.

"Ugh. Finally. Took you long enough." Jasper said turning around with a scowl before freezing up.

Standing in the doorway was Peridot and Lapis.

"No." Jasper said firmly starting to stand up and making towards the wall.

A small thin sheen of water leaked out of the wall and covered it, right where Jasper had paused. She had initially been planning on headbutting her way out of there, but now she obviously couldn't. The water was surprisingly dense. It was also layered. She would be slow down just enough that it would only crack the wall and not break and give her the super dramatic exit she desired. SHe turned back around to glare at the two gems in the doorway.

"What is this?" SHe growled threateningly. Peridot growled right back before walking in, her nose in the air and a small pile of coins floating behind her.

"This is us teaching you the values of meep morps and how to get your emotions and feelings out in a productive way that-"
"We're going to teach you to use your brain. Something that you don't use. Clearly." Lapis said as she strolled in, the water fleeing back into the wall, leaking to the floor and then snaking and twining up Lapis's legs and settling around her gem. Jasper stiffened as the two paused in front of her with an expectant look in their eyes.

"Do I have any sort of choice in this?" Jasper grumbled.
"I wish." Lapis mumbled only to get elbowed by Peridot who glowered up at her taller companion.

"Now I know the two of you have...history..."Peridot said as casually as she could before glaring at Jasper. Jasper glared back tapping her foot.

"But you are here to learn how to make some meep morps. Which is a very nice very non destructive way to express your feelings and emotions." Peridot said clapping her hands together.

"Why would I want to d that?" Jasper snorted. PEridot rubbed her eyes in irritation before turning to a small pile of metal coins that had been stacked into what sort of looked like a spaceship that had a tape recorder poking out of the top.
"Let's look at this piece for example. It is something that I made after I realized that I am trapped on this planet with no real home, a piece moved across the game board of time and space against my will. And now I attempt to add meaning and dignity to my life and very existence." Peridot sighed dramatically.

Jasper glanced at Lapis with a quirked eyebrow.

"Is she always like this now? Because I miss her back when she used to be an actual threat to others." Jasper said dismissively.

"Oh you have no idea how bad she can get. This is her on a good day." Lapis chuckled before coughing and shaking her head, frowning at Jasper. As if remembering that she disliked the larger woman.
"But she has a point. I spent an entire week finding the perfect pieces of ocean trash, put it in a pile before stapling my insecurities and memories to it. Creating a piece that-"

"Again. Don't care. So all I have to do is sit in a corner and pile garbage up? Seems dumb."

"Well if you do not care for the more emotional avant gard style of art you can also try the more realistic ways. Ones that I do not suggest because it makes you assume that the audience are dumb and need everything spelled out for them." Peridot said as she moved to a small pile of statues, the statues were stacked on a small bookshelf, beside a wall of paints and paintings.

Jasper frowned as she glowered at the assorted paintings.
"Most of these are of Amethyst. And most of them have your signature in the bottom. Why?" She said pointing to the numerous purple paintings of the purple gem, who was in a variety of poses and shapes, many of which did not look comfortable, or physically possible.

Peridot blushed and coughed a little self consciously. Lapis chuckled and ruffled PEridot's hair, making the smaller gem growl and swipe at her.
"This little artist has a crush on her muse. It's cute." Lapis said shaking her head in amused delight. Which only made Peridot all the angrier.

"WHAT! She's inspiring! And she's a good model!"
"Nude model?" Jasper said holding up a very risque picture that Pearl would turn her large nose up at.

"That is for personal private use!" Peridot screeched grabbing the picture from Jasper's hand rolling it up and shoving it inside of her own gem. A nifty little move that she had learned she could do entirely by accident.

"Whatever. Don't care. So, you want me to make something?" Jasper grumbled as she plopped down on the ground in the corner.

"We want you to want to make something." Peridot said as she grabbed some random art supplies and plopped them in front of Jasper. Jasper glanced between the pieces of art and then back up towards Peridot.

"Or don't. And leave. Means the same to me." Lapis said cooly as she studied her nails. Jasper grumbled before she picked up a piece of paper, held a paint brush like it was a weapon, rubbed it into some glue and slapped it against a bunch of pieces of paper. She gripped some glitter and rubbed it in next. She then snapped the entire thing over her knee and tossed it at Peridot's and Lapis's feet.

"There. Done. Some more trash for the two of you." Jasper smirked. Peridot frowned before hopping upwards. The multiple small coins instantly swung to her feet and picked her upwards. She floated up until she was eye level to Jasper. The shorter gem poked Jasper in the chest with a frown practically snapping her face in half.

"You know that's not what we meant! Put some passion into it! Some soul! Actually care about the piece that you're making!" Peridot snapped at Jasper. Jasper growled and stomped off to her 'art corner'. Peridot floated back downwards. Jasper frowned and grabbed a nearby rock that was sitting on a pile of other assorted rocks.

She knew rocks. She liked rocks. She studied it for a little bit. They wanted emotion? Fine she could give them emotions!

Lapis and Peridot huddled on the other side of the art room. Whispering to each other. Jasper frowned and scooted until her back was to the two of them. Hunching over her rock.

"What's taking her so long? This is abstract right?" Peridot whispered to Lapis who shrugged in response.

"She doesn't seem like the abstract time. I bet it's meant to be more realistic. Lifelike maybe."
"I'm surprised she's taking so long. I've never seen her this patient." Peridot said. Lapis snorted in response.

"You should have been there at the bottom of the ocean. She never stopped trying to get out. She can be pretty persistent when she gets something in her head." Lapis said cooly. Not angry, not sad. Just stating a fact. Peridot gulped. She was amazed that Lapis wasn't trying to threaten Jasper more...after all this was Lapis, she didn't exactly have much patience for things she didn't like.

"Done." Jasper said with a smirk. Walking up with a small rock in her hand. It was about the size of a raccoon, with a frowny face carved into it. Some of the ripped up paper glued on to it. And some sticks poked into holes along the base. Holes she must have bored out herself.

"I made a frowny face. Pretty good huh?" Jasper said with pride in her eyes. Peridot and Lapis exchanged a surprised glance before their stoic teacher masks went back on.
"Eh, what's the emotion that it's supposed to create? It's good, but where's the deeper power? What do you want us to feel while looking at this?" Peridot said. Jasper's face slowly began to harden. Lips tightening, eyelids lowering, teeth grinding, shoulders going from sloped casualness to tightened indifference.

"Whatever. It's not like I was trying." Jasper snapped back. Her hand tightening around the rock. Lapis stepped forwards, eyes steady. Jasper's fingers were grinding into the stone, a few flakes dusting off.

"So you weren't trying huh?" Lapis said looking up at Jasper who was stiff as a board. "What if you did? Why don't you try going out there, gathering some rocks and actually bothering to try and make something?"

"I could." Jasper responded. Lapis snorted in laughter.
"But you probably won't right? Because it's lame? Beneath you? Too easy?" Jasper was about to snap back only for Lapis to poke a finger in her face, causing Jasper to step back, hair raising like the hackles on a tiger.

"Here's a challenge for you then. By the start of next week come back here with a statue. A homemade one of someone that you admire. Carved if you want. Bet that you won't do it." Jasper's fist slammed into the floor. Her rock rested on it's stick like legs.

"I bet that I will." Jasper huffed back. Eyes wide and bright like she had just caught a prey in a trap. With that Jasper spun on her heel and stormed out. Peridot floated towards Lapis with a look of surprise on her face.
"Well...that went better then expected. And you didn't even drown her." Peridot said.

A pair of quartz gems quickly stepped to the side as Jasper stormed past. Grinding her teeth together. Fists clenched. Lapis's words tumbling through her head. If anything crossed her path it was kicked out of the way. Or stomped. Or both. Baseball, stone, or gem.

Jasper went around a corner heading back towards her woods. She could get back to her cave if she didn't stop for anything, get some good training and wallowing done before nightfall training.

"Jasper? JASPER!" A voice called out from behind her. Jasper paused and turned. She quirked a confused eyebrow. Connie was dodging around a pair of peridots and dodged underneath a beam being transported by a pair of amethysts. Her smile was covering half her face. She leaped over a small stream and sprinted until she got up to Jasper. Panting softly. She didn't seem too out of breath. Mostly just...excited.

"What?" Jasper grunted. Connie frowned for a moment before straightening up.

"First of all hello to you too. Secondly don't be rude. Thirdly I've got the rest of the books." She said dropping her bright yellow backpack beside her, quickly digging through it and pulling out a stack of manga. Jasper plopped down, legs crossed and grabbed the top one. Her smile was filled with sharp teeth and excited gleams.

"HOHO! That guy lost his head! Ha!" Jasper chuckled. Connie looked over Jasper's shoulder and shivered.

"Don't spoil it for yourself! Start at the beginning!" Connie said excitedly. Jasper chuckled and nodded before pausing and stiffening. She quickly stood up and brushed herself off.

"I've got to go. I've got stuff to do." She grumbled in irritation. Connie's grin faltered a little before she nodded.
"Okay. I guess. But there was something else I had to ask you...Please say yes." Connie said excitedly. Jasper looked down at the short human suspiciously.

"Yes to what?"
