Chapter 3
After settling Kai and Jay in their rooms and tending to their wounds inflicted on one another during training (even though Jay's healed on their own), the remaining ninja and even Pixal gathered together in the control room, getting to work trying to find answers to figure out why their own teammates were turning into horrifying supernatural creatures. These were monsters only ever told about in scary stories around a campfire in the middle of the woods. Now they were proven as real as spinjitzu. Creatures that were once known to be made up now placed right in front of them.
Before the meeting began, Lloyd couldn't help but check up on his uncle multiple times, worrying and fussing over the old man to ensure he hadn't been severely hurt.
"Lloyd, there's no need to worry about me," Wu told him, "I'm fine. I've been pushed down plenty of times in my long life."
Lloyd sighed. "Sorry, it's just I worry about you a lot. Your age is showing just a little bit everyday. It makes me fear one day you'll end up falling down and not be able to get back up without someone there to help you."
"I still have plenty of strength left in me, Lloyd. Any sign of age showing is far along down the road."
Nya cleared her throat. "We can worry more about old age later. Right now our only concern needs to be focused on Kai and Jay. I'm gonna regret doing this." She pulled up both files containing the missing and deceased women, hating herself for what she did next as she placed photos of Kai and Jay above as the culprits. "Even though this was their doing, we are not turning them in. They're our brothers while Jay is my boyfriend and Kai is my biological brother. They are still innocent until they wake up and give us answers."
"But that won't explain everything," Cole said, "There are still questions that need answers. What if they can't answer them for us?"
"What questions do you have in mind?" Zane asked.
"Well, exactly how did Kai become a vampire? How did Jay become a werewolf? Did it happen in different circumstances or at the same time? Were they bitten? Did they get into some sort of trouble that caused this issue?" Cole sighed. "I don't know. It's all so confusing."
"Maybe it might be best to wait for Kai and Jay to wake up," Lloyd said, "They'll know more about this than the rest of us. If we interrogate them, it'll be easier for us to figure out the cause."
"But for now, we will let them rest," Wu said, "That's all they need for now."
A day passed before the fire and lightning master woke up from their slumber. After giving them some much needed recovery time, their teammates brought them down into the control room, seating them while they stood surrounding them should something happen. And hopefully nothing will.
"Now we're not pointing the fingers at you two for anything," Lloyd said, "We're only concerned for not only your safety and well-being, but for the citizens in Ninjago. And we just need to know if you guys knew about turning into these…night creatures only ever told about in stories."
Kai shook his head. "I never knew. I mean I had dreams of me turning into a vampire and attacking and also…killing people, but I always thought they were just silly nightmares."
"Same here," Jay said, "Except I was a werewolf doing the same thing."
So they had no idea about it, either. They were tricked into thinking none of it had happened, just like Nya when she heard a voice in her head saying it had all been nothing more than a dream after discovering Kai and Jay were absent from their beds. They must have heard the same voice.
It was probably still horrifying to hear what they thought were nightmares actually turned out to be real. Kai was doing his very best to remain calm about the situation since he's been working to not freak out over serious situations, knowing it won't help anything. Jay was still in denial, refusing to believe a word.
"None of this can possibly be true. I mean, come on. I can't be a werewolf. I'm too jovial to be such a creature. Somebody better pinch me because I must be dreaming. OW!"
Zane was behind the lightning master, pinching his arm. "You said to pinch you. I was just assisting you in order to assure you that you are definitely living in reality."
Jay's breathing became heavy and went into a speedy rhythm. "No, this can't be real! This can't be real!" His panicking caused fear to rise up in him, the wolf within him almost releasing itself.
Not wanting that to happen again, Nya rushed over to her boyfriend, placing her hands on his shoulders. "Jay, calm down. Take deep breaths. In and out. In and out."
Jay listened to her, calming himself, settling the wolf within him. He began to feel woozy and his energy was drained, looking as though he might pass out. Nya sat him down, fanning him to keep him awake.
Once Jay was sedated into a relaxing state, Lloyd stood up. "Okay, we need to find a solution to this. The first thing we need to do is retrace Kai and Jay's steps. Figure out when it happened. The sooner we discover the origins, the faster we can end all this."
The sooner, the better. That's always a good saying.
SO THE TRUTH IS OUT. THEY HAD NO IDEA IT WAS ALL REAL. BUT NOW THAT THEY KNOW IT IS, THEY NEED TO FIND OUT WHY IT HAPPENED SO THEY CAN SAVE THEIR BROTHERS.
