Entry 76: Falsewave Nymphs
"No," said Sonata, "you do not need to smoke weed to see the biome! That's a really stupid rumor! They're right there, there's just a few of them, but you can take a trip to them if you want and if you think all the countless images of them online are 'photoshopped!' Blech!"
Sonata hung up and looked off down at the lake with the pink water. And the 'pulses' of white running over it, looking like something out of a computer program almost. (But, just to clarify, not being made of simple geometry.) She had her arms folded, not really able to enjoy the neon-colored trees and the like that dotted the lake.
"I can't fucking believe we have to spread the Hallow and Candyland again afterall!" She shouted. "Dammit, after all that time of thinking we could just eradicate all the biomes... no, the alliance is back, and now the Naked Empire is fucking political again!"
Vince and Tania surfaced from the pink water that was... not really like water so much, and it was breathable even without the Celestial Shell. Of course Vince still had that because it was fucking amazing. He also finally was able to get an armor better than Shroomite Armor, but his Vortex Armor (not quite new this is not the first short story of Part 4 chronologically) being set aside on the beach. They were throwing a beach ball at each other, and around to the various Nymphs of a slightly washed out/grayish fuchsia coloring.
"Sonata, why don't you come with us?" Tania asked. "Maybe... not worry about your phone now?"
"Yeah this is great!" Vince added.
Sonata sighed. "Really? Vince okay I'm used to that, but Tania, what happened to Ms. 'This world has Corruption, Error, Crimson, Fury, Drought, Plague, Nest, Wilds, Cobalt, Sorrow, Mist, and Battlefield all out the ass, you need to try harder?'"
"Half of the Corrupt Mainland got taken back, Sonata. I think I might even be growing a second flower in my hair!"
"...And I still have zero."
"I don't see what that has to do with anything." Vince said.
Sonata looked down. "Well... I wanna grow a flower. Obviously it'd be a gem flower, but still."
One of the Falsewave Nymphs patted her on the back. Sonata jumped in high alert, hands even placed as if she was holding a sword.
"WOAH! Woah, man, like, listen to your friends and just... chill man!" She said. "Woah-hoa! I've been working on some grooves if you want something relaxing to listen to."
She kneeled down and placed her hands in the sand, then created pulses in a patch of it. Pulses that made... a beat. Almost. In some time, a low-pitch, slow-paced song was formed.
"Oh. That's really cool." Sonata said. "Yeah okay... I've never seen this happen in person... but yeah! I guess I can... lay it back a little..."
Oh, but she realized something else, quietly turning to the lake.
"AHA! Tania, it's easy for you to say to relax, when... well, Cthulhu, who is kinda like your rival, is dead now! But my enemy that's been messing with me for hundreds of years is still at large! Even larger than she was before! So there! That's where the stick up my gigantic glorious ass came from!"
Falsewave Nymphs.
The fuchsia beaches house deep pools, deep dark clouds, and Nymphs with a deep affinity for making you swim in their seemingly endless tunnels.
Preferred Environment: Falsewave Shores/Lakes.
Environment Threat Level: Peaceful.
Environment Stats: Wet and rainy (above water)/aquatic (under water, obviously). Cool. Fantastic. Semicommon (underground), rare (surface). Beaches with an odd color scheme (the exact scheme varies from Falsewave region to Falsewave region, but pink-colored water is common) that has the occasional white wave rippling across its unique water. Similar to the Drought but with less malevolence, it is possible to breathe under this "water," to a limited extent, but unlike the Drought it functions like water motion-wise, just thicker.
Other Names: Ripple Nymphs, "Trippy Nymphs," "Vaporwave Nymphs."(?)
Affinity: Water.
Color: Dull Fuchsia.
Traditional Costume Weapon: White ripple patterns made with special paint. Lets them easily create waves and otherwise manipulate water.
Vince's Comment: Okay, not to sound racist, but I noticed a lot of the Nymphs with... "less saturation" seem extra-weird, this is gonna be a bizarre final stretch. That being said, their land is still easy to get used to, and if you can move well under water, just be prepared enough and they shouldn't be THAT much of a problem.
Sonata's Comment: FAKEOUTS. These Nymphs are MASTERS of fakeouts.
...
So.
...
Not their orgasms though.
...
I can't believe Tania, Vince, AND the SHITLOADS of Falsewave Nymphs I spoke to were all okay with me putting that here. Wow.
Tania's Comment: Falsewave Nymphs.
Nymphae Falsus.
These Nymphs act in the art of mimicry; or at least, everything measured about their biology suggests that they could, but most of them choose not to. They instead hold a deep love for making their beaches as flashy, appealing, and distinct as possible. An artistic group. To some extent, all Nymphs appear to have a fondness for art.
(Note from Sonata: Sorry to keep barging in on your comments, but I need to say this: If porn counts as art, then yeah. That is absolutely true.)
It actually does! Well. I mean.
(Note from Sonata: And that's your preferred art, right? I mean, I don't see you lining up for Stefano's works or to dye anything from Hiram.)
Ah.
...
Fuck.
(Note from Sonata: I can't believe Tania was okay with putting THAT here. WOW. She confesses to being a perv a lot. Yeahhhh!)
Closing AN:
Day 24, done! Well, yeah, we're in the endgame, last week, also the last 24 entries before the Dryad one! And... I didn't even realize that until now but yeah, 24 days, 24 left after the end of that day. I mean it's a stretch but still.
Also with 'days' being 'days I play the game' this story just went through and beat the Moon Lord faster than any of my sessions had so far. I like to play in short bursts, and be a bit slow and steady while I'm at it.
You could kind of say that the "theme" with the short story here is a "swap" of Tania and Sonata's... general behaviors, but yeah, Sonata's still super crass. It's just that she's taking the mission more seriously than Tania at this point. Why? Again, when (basically an "if" at this point since it's far in...) RTLD reaches here, there might be a full chapter - or even more - devoted to exploring that.
