Entry 86: Enchant Nymphs
Beginning AN:
Boy did I sure spoil a lot about Fallacy last chapter! I'm glad you got to read that without any interruption or anybody messing with it because I'm not going to go over her, or give such a HUGE spoiler, again!
"Yeah I'm familiar with them." Said Sonata as she walked through the cold forest. It looked kind of like a 'normal forest' but one that was washed out a bit. "They're like the opposite of the Curse Nymphs?"
Tania sighed. "No! No, that's a common mistake to make. Again. Nymphs aren't really 'opposites.'"
"I mean..." Vince said.
Tania held her head down and groaned. "Okay, you two both make a good point. But still, we shouldn't lower our guards."
Sonata shrugged. "Why not? I mean, it's not like the Curse Nymphs swapped our bodies or anything."
"One could in the future!"
The three of them all heard a bell ringing.
"Thank you... for removing the Hallow from our land..." A high-pitched, almost ghostly voice said.
Tania was on high alert, whipping out her Prism.
"She's thanking you." Said Sonata. "Why are you reading your- ohhhhh right I'm dumb and don't understand my own species."
From a brief moment, it looked like the next 'Nymph of the Week' (or, not really, recruit) danced with a...
A FUCKING SHEET?! Sonata took her Star Wrath out, blood in her eyes.
Oh wait false alarm. The green-lime Nymph wasn't wearing a dress associated with fairytales (but not, most Fairies are nude. The Empress of Light was just a prudish asshole). She just had a sheet held in her hand for some dumb reason. It was a pretty see-through sheet though, lessening the blow.
"Helloooooo... whoooo..." The Enchant Nymph said, dancing around the group.
"You gonna cast a bad spell on us?" Asked Sonata. "Also please drop the ghost talk."
The Enchant Nymph immediately stopped her weird dancing thing. It was only then that Sonata was able to notice that she was trailing greenish symbols behind her, but they stopped. "That's my accennnnnt! Don't be a diiiiick!"
"...Okay sorry I didn't know I thought you were trying to be eerie."
"I've been workiiiing on that! But yeahhhhhh... I just wanted to give you passerby heroes a thanksssss for getting rid of the Hallowwwww... we hate the Hallowwwww..."
"So what's the spell?" Sonata asked.
"Well, only Tania's getting one-"
"Fine by me!"
The Enchant Nymph threw a ball of pure magic at her, which Tania caught with her staff.
"This should help you regrow the Jungllllle... I know it's not much, but it's what I can dooooo..."
"This is appreciated." Tania replied.
"Vincccce..."
She just gave him a locket-looking thing.
"This will help your eyes. So you can aim better." She said.
"AWESOME! It's always good to be less-scared of dying!"
Sonata folded her arms. "And what kind of magic thing will you give me to 'make me trust you?' Lady, we're one and the same, I'm 500 years old, I know all the tricks in the Nymph book."
"I'm an indie game designerrrrr..." The Enchant Nymph replied. "I wanted to give you an exclusive look on what I was makinnnnng..."
"Genre?" Sonata asked.
"Adult open-world action adventure sandbox."
"I trust you completely and now we are best friends."
Enchant Nymphs.
Nymphs out in the cold forests teeming with magic tend to use singing animals and fantastic flower petals to trick people in to thinking of them as peaceful wizards. As usual, they're not.
Preferred Environment: Enchanted Taiga.
Environment Threat Level: Calm.
Environment Stats: Below-moderate rainfall. Cold. Fantastic. Uncommon. Cold forests that have some snow, but not much. Have strong sources of magic, usually "light magic" tied with "tamed" tools from places such as the Hallow and Candyland.
Other Names: Magic Nymphs, Mystic Nymphs, Anticurse Nymphs.
Affinity: Wind.
Color: Dull Harlequin.
Traditional Costume Weapon: Flames, usually harlequin-colored, often forming shapes (usually diamond patterns or other simple geometry) on their torsoes and heads. Aides with their drawing magic, of their own variety and of "light" locations.
Vince's Comment: Sleeping spells are NOT "cured with a kiss." "True love" or otherwise. Keep that in mind if one of them tries to inflict you with it; I don't care how many partners you have, you DODGE that spell. I woke up not with a kiss, but with Madeline dripping something made with spider venom on my tongue. She removed the poisonous part, but the taste was awful! I STILL remember it months later!
Madeline's Comment: You still never said "Thank you," Vince. You never thanked me for anything at all. I'm just gonna... hold that against 'ya until you do.
Sonata's Comment: They don't have spellbooks per-say. That's kind of the point; spellbook-less magic? Hrm...
Tania's Comment: Enchant Nymphs.
Nymphae Lepidus.
These are relative glass cannons among the Nymphs, having more access to defensive and healing magic (but their biome does NOT have innate healing magic, hence why I did not place this as "beneficial.") Yet this comes at the cost of being less physically fit on average than the other Nymph Variants. They still have strength above humanity or most other races, however. Enchanting Nymphs are regarded as "opposites" to Cursing Nymphs, or that the former uses "good magic" or "positive magic" while the latter use "negative" or "bad magic." It's not that simple. There ARE good and evil magics - the mystics surrounding Cthulhu, the Evil Biomes, the Dungeon, et al. are evil to the extent of corrupting the soul of the user unless they have great will (such as Vince... shockingly), but what is "good" is not defined by the source, definitely not the color, or even based on if it heals the user. Indeed, I'm not sure if I would call my own magic good. Sonata's using her type of skills, parallel and opposite to mine, for deeds of good... with the same effects. Complete with purifying Terraria just as I do.
...Right. Enchanting Nymphs are also fairly accustomed to the cold, somewhat moreso than the average Variant, as a given from being in a cold climate. I apologise, I tend to think about my own morality a lot and get sidetracked.
Closing AN:
WIP name change: Enchanting - Enchant. Similar to Cursing - Curse.
I honestly drew a huge blank for this chapter. Couldn't think of that much. I'm not that proud of it. And for yet another "writing ahead," I once again just did two chapters, this and the last one, and only wrote a few sentences again.
