Chapter 13: (16 weeks)
The clouds covered the sun high in the sky, blocking any trace of sunlight from coming in. Slowly, small droplets of water fell from the sky, landing on the ground or the first thing they touched.
Meanwhile, in the Azubu Juban district, in the tall apartment building, Usagi and Mamoru slept peacefully in their bed, holding each other tenderly. Mamoru woke up with a groan, moving slightly on the bed as to not disturb his wife. He felt her arm pull his, so he was laying next to her again, he grinned. "Morning" he whispered swiftly into her ear. She shivered and turned to face him.
"Hey" she says back. "Are you nervous for today?" she asks him in an afraid whisper.
"A little. But I know as long as the baby is healthy, and you're healthy and happy, then I'm not to worried" he says with a smile. She nods before standing up, throwing on the nearest shirt and a skirt, along with a bra and some underwear. He laughs when he sees her before he moves to get out of bed.
"I'll make your coffee" she says with a smile. "You baby me too much as well as doing everything for me" she smiles as she walks towards the door. He smiles as he stands up, carrying a towel towards the bathroom, stopping in front of her to give her a kiss.
"Two teaspoons of coffee and a quarter of a cup of milk remember?" he reminds her. She nods with a smile, before turning to leave. She hums as she pours in the ingredients into the cup, making herself a hot chocolate while she was at it.
From the front door, a faint creek resounds around the apartment. Usagi freezes. "Mamo?" she calls from the kitchen. The shower wasn't running, but she heard a faint reply. She shook her head confused but continued working. She walked towards the dining room table, laying the mugs gently down.
Suddenly, a force pushed her against the wall with such force she knew it wasn't her husband. She screamed lightly as she registered a female with red hair and brown eyes. It was Beryl. She was confused as to why she was here. Why had she broken into their apartment? She watched Mamoru walk out in a panic, turning to them both and throwing Beryl off her and onto the hardwood floor.
She didn't understand. Of course, her mind went back to their trip to the honeymoon location, talking about her because of course she was furious that she was there flirting with her husband that night. Mamoru had assured her that she was nothing but a friend to him. Usagi had let the issue go that night, due to distractions.
She still couldn't understand. Why would Beryl be here in the first place? "Beryl what are you doing to my wife?" Mamoru yells, protective instincts kicking in. Beryl was slowly getting to her feet, eyes locked with Usagi's. Usagi's eyes lock with the knife in her hands, and she gasped. Beryl runs towards her, Mamoru stopping her immediately. Usagi watched scared as Beryl managed to get past him and tried to stab her, but Usagi turned to run away, so the knife barely missed her front, but sliced her side open.
"Usako" Mamoru grunts as he throws Beryl backwards once again; another thump from her body hitting the ground. "Get out and run. Call the police and tell them to get here as fast as they can." He says as he attempts to stop Beryl again. "Lock the door and go" he yells. Usagi complies to his orders, pulling out her phone and dialling the number, treating her wounds while she was at it. They all start to make their way over, and Usagi walks out, seeing Beryl and Mamoru still in a tangle. Beryl's eyes lock on Usagi's and she pulls out of fight, sneaking around him and coming at her again. The knife slashes on her side this time, cutting her hip open before she's thrown back again into the floor. Beryl attempts again, and then, as Usagi was trying to get up, she felt the knife slice through her back. Usagi cries out in pain, falling onto her front and hitting her head on the floor, knocking her out.
Meanwhile Mamoru wrestled Beryl, and minutes later the police filed inside and arrested her for attempted murder, Mamoru immediately moving to Usagi's body which was being moved by a pile of paramedics as she lay on the stretcher. Mamoru followed in a panic, worried about his wife.
He yelled at her internally for her stupidity. She shouldn't have tried to help him stop Beryl. She was the one Beryl was after. But of course, he'd talk to her when she woke up. Right now, he was worried about her condition, and of course. The baby.
Mamoru called the Tsukino's explaining what had happened on the way to Usagi's registered hospital. They were scared, and even Mamoru couldn't reassure them. He was worried too. Then he called the girls individually, and they too, had the same reaction as her parents.
They arrived at the hospital, Mamoru following along with the doctors and nurses, and then Ami came around the corner and gasped at the sight. "Usagi" she whispered as she followed them. Mamoru looked at Ami worryingly. "What happened?" she asks, concern filling her voice.
"Beryl, the red-haired girl from the wedding found where we lived. She broke in and attempted to kill Usagi because she used to love me and… Usagi got in the way or Beryl would find a way to get past and…" he stops as they wheel her into the operating room.
"Dr Chiba. This is your wife?" the head doctor asks him and he nods.
"Yes, this is my wife. She's 16 weeks pregnant. Be careful." He says to them all and they all nod.
"She's losing to much blood; she needs stitches on her back and side as well as her arm" Ami yells and they all start operating quickly on his wife.
Mamoru swallows before taking a deep breath and helps the operation.
He had to save his wife.
