Chapter 14: (18 Weeks)
"You are all good to go Mrs Chiba" The head doctor says with a smile. "Your stitches are healed up nicely and your baby is well and healthy." He says and Usagi grins, holding Mamoru's hand. "Dr Chiba, you're all good to have the week off. You need the sleep anyway. Can't keep living off coffee." He laughs.
"Thank you" Mamoru says, a smile slapping itself on his face. His boss smiled back before leaving swiftly through the door. Usagi slides off the bed gently, leaning down to pick up her bags. Mamoru slides in, picking them up before she even had a chance. "You're still healing" he says with a raise of his eyebrows, passing her a shirt and a pair of shorts, she smiles as she heads to the bathroom swiftly, coming out minutes later changed. She grins as she pulls down on her baggy shirt. "Nice" he says with a smile.
"Thanks" She grins as she takes his hand gently. He watches her as she pulls out a small square piece of paper out of her back pocket, holding it in her palms.
"You really need to stop looking at those ultrasound pictures." He advises with a smile on his face as he places the bags in the back of the boot, Usagi stepping in the front seat. He follows her seconds later, sliding into the driver's side.
"I don't care" she mutters. "I just like looking at what's growing inside of me, what I'm looking after" she says louder now. "My little miracle baby" she whispers so quietly that she doubted that her husband could hear her. "Plus, She's the size of an orange now" she grins, taking his hand on the gearstick, being careful not to disturb him while he was driving.
"She?" Mamoru asks her with a grin on his face.
"A feeling" she whispers embarrassed. "Although as much as the feeling is a girl, I want it to be a boy" she says louder this time. In the corner of her eye, she watches Mamoru frown.
"You know how lucky you are that the baby survived this?" he says to her in monotone voice.
"I do…"
He frowns. "What would you do if it didn't?" he asks her, scared of her response. She shrugged.
"I have no idea." She whispers gently. "I never dreamed I would want a baby, or to be a mother, or even have the opportunity" she sighs, running a finger through her hair. "Minako and I talked about it for a while. She always has wanted children. I didn't think you'd want them but knowing me I'd give them to you the moment you asked" she said as he locked eyes with him. She noticed he was frowning and continued. "Obviously she told me off and said it was my body so essentially it was my choice. So, at that day I decided that if it was up to me then no…I wouldn't want to have enormous amounts of stress on top of my daily lives." She shrugs, looking at him. "I kind of want it to be unexpected. You know, no decision" she smiles at him as they park the car at the apartment lot.
"But I don't think I'll ever be able to hide this now! I'm huge" she exaggerates pointing to her abdomen, a small bump that had been forming overtime. Mamoru bursts out laughing at her comment, Usagi grinning along with him.
"You are going to get so much bigger in the next coming months." He says as he raises his eyebrows. Usagi grins before watching him let out a sigh. "We really can't stay away from the hospital. Can we?" he asks her in a joke.
"No..." she sighs, opening the apartment door, pulling the key out of the lock. Mamoru continues to smile as the walk inside the apartment, which was clean thanks to the fact that the girls had come over to clean up after the shattered glass and Usagi's blood all over the floors. He watches Usagi carefully, his eyes watching her every move.
"Usako?' he asks her gently when she stops in the middle of the room. He notices she was standing around the spot when she passed out.
"Hey Mamo…" Usagi whispers gently. Mamoru opens his mouth but then closes it was he watches her head tilt to the floor. "Do you ever think that once Beryl is out of jail…that she might…come back after me again?" she whispers, her back still facing him.
"Do I have to be honest?" he asks her gently, walking up to her and holding her shoulder.
She nods. "Yes. I don't want you to downplay the truth for my health" she whispers.
"Honestly…I think she will. But as long as no one we know tells her of your location then, I don't think she'll be able to" he says as he wraps his arms around her body, placing a kiss on the back of her hair. "Anyway, change of subject. Are we going to set up the spare room or…"? He trails off, keeping his arms around her as she twists her whole body to face him.
"Why is there an 'or' in that sentence" she asks him with a small smile, raising her eyebrows gently.
"Well, I was thinking that we could move out and buy a house" he says with a grin. "we could have a normal life. Our son or daughter having a backyard and being able to have their own room." He grins as he leans down to her face.
She grins. "What about we build the house of our dreams?" she laughs at how weird it sounded.
"What about we buy the house of our dreams." He says with a grin as he leans down and silences her with a kiss. She accepts willingly, pulling him towards the bedroom in desperation. A few moments later she pulls away from his face.
"I still say we build" she mumbles as they fall onto the bed, the rest of the day left in a flourished flutter, the past behind them temporarily as they savoured their time together.
