Chapter 19: (32 Weeks)
Usagi sighed, rubbing her stomach once again from another kick before moving her hands to the top of her eyes, rubbing away the tiredness. Mamoru looks over at her, watching her yawn coincidentally.
Usagi had spent the week convincing her husband to go out for some drinks with Motoki and a few of his friends. One of them was one of Usagi's friends from University, Haruka Tenou and the Other was Seiya Kou. Of course, Kunzite, Zoisite, Nephrite and Jadeite were going to be there too. Mamoru, in his protective side put the idea in the bin before he even considered, persuading her back stating that she was close to the due date, and he wanted to be there if anything happened.
Usagi turned to look at him, standing up and stretching her legs, pulling free from the cramps crawling around. She takes a step, immediately loosing all her balance in one go due to the dizziness. The protective hands at her side steadying her. she groaned, feeling her daughter move inside of her, kicking one of her ribs somehow. He frowns, his hands on her back, pushing his thumbs into her skin, massaging the muscles underneath.
"You know I can handle myself, right?" she asks him, a frown on her lips.
"I know" he says, a smile on his face. "I just worry sometimes, and I'm attempting to even out the field a little more. But I know it never will, but I can help" he says, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"Well, I don't need it" she argued back. "So why don't you go out tonight with the boys" she snaps at him loudly making him frown in response.
"But-"
"But nothing Mamo-chan. If you're that worried about me then I'll invite the girls over for dinner, then. Happy?" Mamoru frowns, noticing the constant nagging to get him to go out.
"Usako" he whispers to her from a few meters away. "Is the reason why you want me to go is because…you're cheating on me?" he asks her, making her whole body turn around in shock.
he jumps, surprised by her sudden laughter, kneeling down from laughing too much. He rushed over to her side, confusion smothering his face in thick coats.
"Mamo-chan" she giggles. "Do you really think I'm cheating on you?" she asks him, struggling to breath.
"Yeah, I don't think of any other reason as to why you never visit me at work now, and why you're encouraging me to leave with everyone all the time" he says, stuttering. She smiles.
"I never visit you at work now because It hurts when I walk and nobody is available to pick me up anymore and I always want you to leave with Motoki is because soon, you're going to become a father and you'll barely have time for friends. Look at 'Toki for example. He has his son, and he can barely spend enough time between work and looking after his son to see you now days. And now he does, and you'll throw it away because of your over protectiveness towards me" she sighs, pinching her nose bridge a small smile falling onto her face. "And for the cheating part, do you really think I could cheat on you in this state. I'm, one: Ugly, and Two: Very pregnant. So, you don't need to worry" she says, wrapping her arm around his waist.
"Alright" he sighs. "I'll go, and I believe you" he says, pressing a kiss to her forehead. He walks off to go and get changed, Usagi following after him pressing Motoki's name in her contacts list on her phone and calling him, displaying the news aloud.
Mamoru smiled, watching her talk in a loving tone towards his best friend. he knew that she was always, and somehow right. He was being super overprotective towards her, and he needed to control it somehow.
The blue button up shirt was flattened on his chest as he fitted it to make it more comfortable on him, and his pants were casual as normal. He smiled as he watched Usagi looking at him, a grin planted on her face. "How do I look?" he asks her as she follows him to the door.
Her hand snakes up his neck to the back of his hair. "Utterly handsome, as usual. But I don't want you to be that pretty. Otherwise, I'd have pretty girls hitting on you" she frowns, causing him to let out a low laugh.
"You mean my Utterly beautiful wife?" he asks her, leaning down to kiss her. The knock on the door interrupted them, breaking them apart with a smile as Usagi went to get the door. Motoki was standing there, leaning against the white pillar, a grin on his face.
"Sorry, Did I interrupt something?" he asks in an innocent tone, smirking at the couple. Mamoru chuckled, walked over to his best man, and smiling at his own wife. "I'll drop him off late, not sure when" Motoki says directed to Usagi. She grins, her hand rising to the top of her abdomen.
"We'll be waiting" she says, a smile implanted on her face.
*Mamoru Chiba*
Mamoru sat in a bar around a large circular table, cradling a beer in his hand. The bright and multi coloured lights flashed around him, making him be on the verge of a headache. He never thought of how much he needed this outing with his mates, until he got there after his wife continuously persuade him to go. He reminded himself to thank her for it when he got home.
"So, what's life like nowadays with the wife?" Kunzite asks, making Mamoru smile.
"Rough" Mamoru mutters. "But it shouldn't be too bad soon, I hope" he sighs, taking a sip from his drink. Kunzite frowns, curious about what he meant.
"What do you mean?"
"Kunzite, Don't Ever get Minako pregnant. It's rough for both of you unless you want a child then just don't. it's a roller coaster" he advises. "Mood swings, constant whining, always sore, always hungry, always tired. Just don't. they have to do all the work and then what? They have the child, and they continue. We don't have to barely do anything for them to help" he sighs, glaring at the man himself.
"It doesn't sound so bad" Kunzite says.
"No Mamoru's not joking" Motoki says. "I Remember when Naru was there with our little Kai. Everything's alright, but the stuff after the birth was the worst for her. she couldn't move, nor do anything she was in that much pain, and I had to take off work to look after both of them. And then the separation of a new responsibility splits you." Motoki looks at Mamoru. "Usagi might fall into a dark space Mamoru, after she has your daughter born. Postpartum Depression. It took Reika, and it can take her. So, help her, do what I couldn't or didn't do for her"
Mamoru noticed he was only speaking directly to him, and he nodded.
"I will"
Seiya smiled, slapping Kunzite on the back of the head causing him to curse. "Enough with the heavy guys. Let's have some fun!" he states, lifting his beer up towards the roof before taking a mouth full. Mamoru frowned as everyone followed, and he followed suit.
*Usagi Chiba*
Usagi smiles as Minako continues to go on about her boy gossip, the other girls giggling along to it. Usagi placed a fork full of food in her mouth, chewing it quietly. Ami turns to Usagi, ignoring the other girls as she turns to speak to her. "You ok Usagi?" Ami asks. Usagi smiles, nodding in response. "You just seem quiet, that's all"
"I'm just worried you know" she sighs, throwing her shoulders into a small shrug. "It's hard nowadays. And I'm worried about after you know. When we have our daughter, and how different it's going to be. How different we're going to be" she sighs, touching her stomach.
"Oh" Ami says, grabbing her spare hand and holding it. "I don't think it will be much different. Of course, you'll have another mouth to feed, and you'll be parents, but I don't think much will change." Ami says, diverting everyone's attention onto her. Usagi smiled slightly, a flush covering her cheeks.
"Thank you, Ami-Chan," Usagi whispers back, her eyes full of gratitude.
"Have you decided which way the baby's going to be born?" Makoto asks, making Usagi wrinkle her nose in disgust at the thought.
"Mamo-chan wants be to do a C-Section but I want a natural birth. Plainly because I don't want stitches" she smiles.
"Have you heard how painful that is?" Minako asks her, causing Usagi to flinch.
"I know but I can handle it" Usagi says. "If not Mamo-chan should be there, and he can help me" she whispers. Ami nods, blushing at her next request
"Usagi-chan?" Ami asks. "Can I be there, to help you deliver?"
*Usagi Chiba*
The girls had left the house around thirty minutes ago, leaving Usagi alone with only two people to keep her company. Her daughter and her thoughts. She sighed, touching her stomach tenderly as she thought about Ami's request.
One of her best friends wanted to be there while she delivered her first daughter. The thought made her happy, that one of her friends would be there to support her through what could essentially be a really tough time for her.
One of the main things that was making her consider was her privacy. Ami wasn't her mother or her father, or her husband, who she didn't care about privacy with while she was around. But Ami was her friend, and she'd almost be invading her privacy if she was there.
But then again, so would a random stranger.
Usagi sighed, looking at the clock to check the time.
It was past Eleven, past dark and she didn't even realise.
Mamoru should be coming back by now.
Her thoughts took a dark turn into the night.
What if he wasn't coming home tonight. If he was sleeping with another girl, a girl not pregnant and way prettier than her.
Her thoughts continued down the dark road, and not even the click of the door unlocking stopped them.
Then, the footsteps entered the house.
