Chapter 20: Continued.

Previously in Chapter 19:

Usagi sighed, looking at the clock to check the time.

It was past Eleven, past dark and she didn't even realise.

Mamoru should be coming back by now.

Her thoughts took a dark turn into the night.

What if he wasn't coming home tonight. If he was sleeping with another girl, a girl not pregnant and way prettier than her.

Her thoughts continued down the dark road, and not even the click of the door unlocking stopped them.

Then, the footsteps entered the house.

Now:

Mamoru steps into the house he was familiar with after a long night. He noticed it was quiet, and not even a mouse was heard inside. He took of his shoes, walking into the kitchen finding the numerous dishes were cleaned and drying in the rack. He counted them and noted there was five dishes and five sets of pretty much anything.

He smiled knowing Usagi kept her word and had the girls over. The only sound he heard was the clicking of the clock on the wall, so he checked it.

It was nearly midnight.

He sighed, walking into the living room, finding his wife sitting on the couch, facing the window. "Hey" he whispered as he placed his hand on her chest, leaning over her to kiss her forehead.

"You were out late" she states, in a dead, monotone voice. He frowns, wondering what she was going to say next.

"Did you have fun"

He smiles as he walks around the couch and sits next to her. his arm wraps around her shoulders, pulling her closer. "Yeah" he whispers. "Most of the boys got drunk, other than Motoki and myself. I did drink I bit though" he states, kissing her cheek. He watches her stand up, walk away towards the bedroom. "Where you are going?" he asks her, following after her up the stairs.

"Mamo, I know you were out there cheating tonight. I'm not stupid" she snaps at him, turning around in the door frame to face him. He frowns, taken aback by her false statement.

"I promise I wasn't Usako. The rest of the boys might be right now, but I didn't" he claims.

"Don't lie to me"

"I'm not lying Usako. I love you and only you" She frowns, tears coming out of her eyes.

"Don't lie to me Mamoru Chiba." She hisses, tears pooling out of her eyes. "And if you want to stay here then sleep on the couch. I don't want to talk to you"

"I'm not lying Usako! I don't want to sleep on the couch because of this. And this whole night was your idea, so why are you getting mad at me in the first place.

"Then leave then!" she yells. "Get out if you don't want to stay on the couch tonight"

Then the slamming of the door responded to his ears, and the tears started to threaten his eyes as he walked down the stairs and to the living room.

Slowly, he buried himself in the couch, and let the darkness consume him.

*Usagi Chiba*

The sun, once again like any normal summer day, broke through the white curtains of the master bedroom window. Usagi groaned, opening her eyes, and reaching over, like every morning to find her husband.

The empty, white, and lonely sheets greeted her, making her sit up in shock. She looked around the room, confused until the memories greeted her like a slap in the face.

She choked in a sob, shoving her hand to her mouth as she slipped from the bed onto the ground. She is a horrible wife. She threatened to kick her husband out of the house because she thought he cheated on her.

The bedroom door opened quietly, and she turned to look at it, seeing Mamoru looking at her, a glass of water in his hand and a frown on his face. She choked on a sob, attempting to stand up to run away, failing to move an inch. Mamoru came down to her level, scooping her up in a hug. "Hey. Hey, hey" he whispers. "I'm so sorry for last night Usako. Maybe I shouldn't have gone out. Or maybe just not drink" her head snaps at his as she turns to look at him.

"You shouldn't be apologising. I'm the one who forced you to go. I'm the one who let my thoughts control me, and my hormones impact on you. You should be the one trying to kick me out of the house become I'm a horrible person" she sobs, Mamoru resisting the urge to slap her.

Instead, he tilts her head up, and kisses her. Her eyes open wider than usual, before closing and kissing him back. He smiled against her, knowing this was the response he wanted.

She felt him let go, before both of his hands were cradling her face. "Don't you ever" he says, in a harsh protective tone. "Ever say you're a horrible person. Yes, your hormones are out of whack for now, but it doesn't change that I still love you alright. And I should have bever stayed out that late alright, if knowing it would make you upset" he says.

The salty tears roll down Usagi's face as she nods. "I love you too" she whispers in a sob, making him smile slightly at her. "I'm such an ass for even saying that sort of stuff, but I couldn't help myself. And you were just trying to have fun with your friends" she admits.

"That doesn't change the fact that I love you." He says again, pressing his lips to her forehead.

She smiles, the light returning back to her eyes slowly. "Breakfast or shower?" he asks her, earning a grin from her.

"Shower" she says as he helps her up, walking her towards the shower.
