Hello, so I have the story finished and I might finish posting by Friday. So two chapters for you today :) Enjoy.
The next morning, Chris could even understand that Street had felt alone. But she really couldn't explain why he hadn't gone to Buck.
A small smile spreads on her lips. In a way, Street had gone to Buck. After all, her former team leader was also part of the company that Street worked for now.
Slowly her eyes fall back to the crumpled piece of paper. Yesterday, when she got it out of her mailbox, it had only been folded once.
After reading it for the first time, she crumpled it up. How dare he ...
Chris picks up her phone and subconsciously has already typed the digits completely. Should she really call?
She shakes her head and only saves the number for the time being.
Maybe a workout would help. Chris quickly writes a message to Molly that she is going to work early and that the jogging tour today will have to take place without her.
Molly reads the text message and looks at Luna. "The two of us are going to the beach alone today." In response, she gets a little bark and tail wagging ... "Yes, you understood that right: beach." Molly laughs briefly and goes to get ready.
Meanwhile, Luna is ready at the door with a ball in her mouth and Molly can't help but quickly send Chris a photo.
"She has heard beach. Think about it, and if you need someone to talk to. Knock or call."
Chris has meanwhile arrived at HQ and decides to get in a round with the punching bag.
After an extensive workout, she comes to a conclusion. She now knows what to do, just how is she supposed to do it?
Chris stands in the shower after the workout and when she is finished and ready to go, she quickly pulls her phone out of her pocket.
"You're right, we should talk. But not on the phone."
Then she mutes the number and makes her way to the shift meeting.
Together with Luca, Hondo designed a complicated exercise for several teams and Chris needs all of her concentration to follow the instructions. She knows that she probably caused some confusion for Street with her unanswered message and she can't yet say how that should really work , but that's a problem for the moment if he really answers and still wants to talk.
Around noon, Molly walks into SWAT HQ. She has an appointment with her father and wants to see Chris shortly.
"Hey, Rocker. Is Chris here?" she asks when she runs into the man.
" Kitchen ," comes back briefly and Molly shakes her head laughing as Luna disappears.
She knocks briefly on the kitchen door frame and smiles as Chris lifts her head. She seems to be looking at something in her lap and when Luna arrives and puts her head on Chris' knees, Molly sees what it is too .
Chris puts down her phone and greets Luna.
"She'll never learn that she isn't the boss this way." Molly grins and Chris has to laugh. She had already warned several times that everyone greets the dog first, which is wrong.
"I'm sorry. Was just necessary. Did something happen? Or why are you here?"
"I'm going out to lunch with Dad, but he's still in a meeting so I wanted to see you. Have you made a decision?" asks Molly quietly and sits down next to her.
Chris slides her phone across the table.
"I don't understand how that will work. We live in different cities at the opposite end of the country ... Say it if you don't want to talk."
Molly reads the lines and frowns.
"And now?"
"I think I need a vacation and I have to go see him."
A few days later everything had been organized. Chris would be spending her long weekend in Boston.
Molly had driven her to the airport and calmed her, but on the flight the nervousness had risen to new heights.
She didn't even dare tell Street that she was coming. For fear he would definitely not be in town then.
And then it occurs to her what she is missing. An address.
Then she would have to go to the business address after all, even if it feels a little embarrassing.
But she had no choice. And so it happens that , after having checked into her hotel, Chris stands in front of a modern building with a glass facade and tries to build up courage again.
She goes to the counter and waits for the young woman there to notice her.
"Welcome, how can I help you?"
"Hello, my name is Alonso. Chris Alonso. I'd like to see Jim Street." Chris tries for a firm voice but the lady frowns anyway.
"Just a moment, please," she says, and then briefly goes into a back room.
After what feels like an eternity, the young woman comes back and asks Chris to follow her.
At the end of a long corridor, Chris is asked into a conference room and, to her amazement, it is not Street but Owen Bennet and Buck who are sitting there.
"Hey Buck, that's a surprise." Chris laughs as Buck pulls her into a hug.
"I could say the same thing about you. We didn't expect anyone from LA to look for Street here anymore."
Chris frowns and asks, "Why?"
"He was transferred to LA last week. Makes more sense, because the majority of his jobs come from there anyway." explains Owen and Chris looks at Buck.
"He probably forgot to mention it. Thanks, I'll pick up the phone now." Chris tries to smile the situation away and gets up again.
Chris is still slightly in shock, but when Buck suggests they go out to dinner , she can't say no.
Molly also has a day off and has decided to spend it with Luna on the beach . The small, somewhat secluded bay makes it possible for the active dog to run free and it can hardly bother anyone. There is no person to be seen far and wide.
A little confused, she has been waiting for a while for a message from Chris who wanted to see Jim today. But maybe it was a good sign, a ray of hope, if she didn't hear anything. Then maybe they'll finally speak and clear the air for real.
Yes, it's a good sign. Reaffirms Molly, picks up her book, and looks around. The book falls out of her hand. Luna wasn't at the water as expected.
"Luna?" she calls out loudly and whistles for the Labrador, but no reaction.
Even if she had been playing in the nearest dune, brown lightning would storm in her direction by now.
Did she really run away?
Molly rummages through her bag and pulls out her phone.
Fortunately, she had opted for the GPS tracker on the collar so she could quickly find the adventurous dog lady again.
She packs up her things and checks her cell phone again. Luna still seemed to be around the next bend and was even slowly making her way back. Still, that had just shocked Molly.
She has almost circled the dune when her cell phone starts ringing.
"Hey how is Boston?" she asks cheerfully. And Chris replies dryly, "Cold and unexpected,"
Molly frowns, but only for a brief moment.
"Oh and why? What happened?" she asks and then stops.
"Street is no longer here" explains Chris and before she can add that he's in LA , says Molly, "I see that."
"I beg your pardon?" Chris thinks he has misheard.
"Wait, I'll turn on the camera for a moment," she hears through the speaker, and when she looks at the display, she sees Luna jumping around a figure that, on closer inspection, actually turns out to be Street.
"Oh," comes from Chris before she just hangs up. She quickly types a message and asks Molly not to tell where she is.
Molly reads the lines and shakes her head.
