Lee stared down at the clouds from his seat in Louis's private jet. This was the first time the wolf-rabbit had flown anywhere.
It was the final week of Summer Vacation. So Louis invited Lee and several of his friends to go to Hawaii with Ibuki and Jolene.
The chimera glanced around the plane at all the other passengers.
Olivia was teaching Esther how to play Go. The pieces were attached to a magnetic board, preventing them from falling off.
Trevor was sitting in a chair that was comically tiny for someone his size. The bear looked very concerned. This was the first time he had ever flown, and only now is he learning he has a fear of planes.
Jiro and Lin sat together and were talking while showing each other drawings. Most of Jiro's were incredibly violent and grotesque, while Lin's were moody and creepy.
The twins were whispering to each other and giggling.
Jolene was reading a pamphlet about Hawaii. Among all of the passengers, she was the only adult and was tasked with being a chaperon for the kids on their trip.
Ibuki, of course, was sitting next to Lee. The deer-wolf was completely engrossed in a book.
Lee decided he should try to calm down Trevor. "You alright, Senpai?"
The bear nodded, but he was still sweating. "I'm f-fine."
The chimera contemplated this situation. Perhaps he can distract the bear with small talk. "I heard you got adopted recently. Do you like your new step-parents?"
Trevor's eyes shifted around, still looking very stressed. "Y-yeah…"
"Just out of curiosity, what're their names?"
The bear gulped. "R-Rosalind-san and E-Ella-san."
Lee looked surprised. "Oh, you have two moms? That's interesting."
Trevor started to look a little less nervous. "Y-yeah. They're both women."
Olivia glanced at the bear before looking back to Esther. "If we were married, would you want to adopt a child?"
Esther bit her lip. "I don't think I'd be a good mom. I can't imagine taking care of a kid. Andit sounds like a huge hassle."
Trevor took a deep breath. The chit-chat was actually working for calming him down.
Lee smiled. "You're really great at making costumes. I'm excited to see what you put together next when we get back to school."
Trevor opened his mouth to speak but was immediately cut off as the plane started to violently shake.
Bing!
A male voice came over the intercom. "Sorry 'bout that, folks. Just ran into some turbulence."
Lee looked over to Trevor, who was shaking and hiding his face with his arms.
The chimera sighed, frustrated by the timing of that turbulence.
Sebastian got up and walked over to Trevor, placing a hand on the bear's shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, Senpai."
Trevor slowly lowered his arms, and the sheep just smiled at him. The bear took another deep breath. "Th-thanks, Sebastian-kun."
Jolene put the pamphlet away. "We'll be landing in an hour or so anyway. So you won't have to suffer through this for long."
Ibuki shut his book and set it aside before turning to Jolene. "The hotel situation is sorted, right?"
Jolene nodded. "I spoke with the hotel directly. Since you and Lee-kun are hybrids, they aren't considering you as herbivores or carnivores, so they're not going to separate you two."
She pulled out her phone and dragged a finger along the screen. "The rooms are Lee-kun and Ibuki-sama, Olivia-chan and Esther-chan, Jiro-kun and Lin-chan, Viola-chan and Sebastian-kun, and me and Trevor-kun."
Ibuki looked confused. "Woah, wait a sec. You're an herbivore and Trevor-senpai is a carnivore. How did you land thatarrangement?"
The sheep put her phone away. "Bribery. Not the most ethical option, but it works."
The deer-wolf looked concerned. "How much did you have to pay for that? I know Dad pays you very well, but you're not super-wealthy."
Jolene smiled. "Don't you worry about my finances, Ibuki-sama. I didn't want Trevor-kun to have to be alone."
Trevor shook his head. "Y-you don't have to worry about me, Jo-chan. I can be alone."
The sheep scoffed. "Well, Idon't want to be alone. So we'll be sharing a room."
The bear started to look incredibly nervous. "Are you sure you want to share a room with me? They have those segregation rules in place for a reason."
Jolene blew a raspberry. "It'll be fine. I put my full trust in you, Trevor-kun. I already know you'd never eat me."
Ibuki sighed. "It's too bad. The room arrangement would be easier if you had a boyfriend and Trevor-senpai had a…" He glanced curiously at Trevor. "Girlfriend? Boyfriend?"
Trevor pressed a claw against his lip in contemplation. "Honestly, I don't really know. I never really thought about it."
Lee shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with not knowing."
Ibuki glanced back at Jolene. "Just so you know, I'm reimbursing you on that bribe."
Jolene opened her mouth to speak but Ibuki held up a hand. "I've made my decision. You can't talk me out of it. You did something very charitable by sacrificing your money for the sake of a guest. You at least deserve recompensation."
The sheep sighed but smiled. "Okay. Thank you very much, Ibuki-sama."
After an hour of chit-chat, the private jet landed and everyone made their way to the hotel, admiring the beautiful night sky and the hustle and bustle of the city.
When they arrived at the hotel, everyone except for Ibuki, Jolene, and the twins were absolutely stunned by it. It was a five-star hotel and very much looked like it with a massive, gold-colored lobby, and very well-to-do looking patrons.
Jolene collected the keys and handed them off to each pair designated earlier.
When Lee got to his and Ibuki's room he was absolutely stunned beyond belief by it. It was by far the biggest hotel room he had ever been in.
The bed was gigantic, the TV was massive, and in general, it was just a very nice looking room.
Ibuki chuckled. "You like it?"
Lee nodded. "I'll have to thank Louis-san when I see him next. I'm sure this cost an arm and a leg."
The two hybrids stared at each other awkwardly and silently. Lee began to sweat and clear his throat. "Th-that wasn't a joke about your Dad's leg."
Ibuki laughed loudly. "Yeah, I figured."
Lee took a glance inside the bathroom and was stunned by the size of the tub. Much like everything else in this room, it was massive. He whistled when he saw it.
Ibuki took a glance inside. "Yeah, that's a really big tub, isn't it?" He smiled mischievously at his boyfriend. "Why, you could probably fit twopeople in there."
The wolf-rabbit instantly turned red. "Wh-wh-what?!"
The deer-wolf giggled. "We have this room all to ourselves and the walls are very thick. I don't see why we can't do what boyfriends do."
The chimera started to profusely sweat. "I-I-I-I…"
Ibuki's smile vanished. "That said, I don't want to pressure you into anything. I would like our first time to be enjoyable for both of us."
Lee still looked incredibly nervous as he deeply contemplated what he wanted to do. He had considered before if having sex too early would cheapen their relationship. But he knew that Olivia and Esther had already made love and their relationship was very strong. But is it something he's ready for?
He took a deep breath. "L-let me think about it while I take a bath, okay?"
Ibuki nodded and kissed his boyfriend passionately on the lips. "That's just fine, hun. Take your time."
Esther collapsed on her bed. "Aaaahhh… so soooooooooft…"
Olivia giggled and laid down on her back next to her beloved feline. "Oooh. You're right!"
The tiger grinned and pulled the lab into a hug. "And it's aaaaaaaaall for us."
Olivia kissed Esther on the lips. "Courtesy of Louis-san, of course."
Esther nodded. "Wish Imade the kind of money he did."
The canine shrugged. "You've got a lot of opportunities in life, Esther. Who knows what you could end up being." She paused and looked contemplative. "What kind of job would you want?"
The tiger thought about it. "Well, I've had the idea of becoming a boxer before."
Olivia winced. "I'd rather you didn't. Those people end up with brain damage, among other severe health problems."
Esther nodded. "I also thought about being a cop, like Hana-chan. But the cops aren't too helpful around here. They probably don't even letofficers like Hana-chan actually do anything."
"I see… Well, you have plenty of time to figure it out."
The tiger sighed. "Well, there's one more job I thought about."
Olivia tilted her head. "Which would be?"
"I don't think I'll ever get this job but, I think it'd be great to be the next Beastar. But you gotta be strong andsmart to get that job."
The lab scoffed. "You are plenty both at this point, Esther." She smiled. "Actually, I think you probably wouldmake for a good Beastar."
Esther had a melancholy look. "I don't think I can be the Beastar though, since I'm a carnivore. More people would feel safe with an herbivore Beastar."
Olivia had a contemplative look. "Well, it's not impossible. There wasa carnivore that had the chance to be the Beastar."
The white tiger was surprised. "Really?"
The lab nodded. "Lee-kun's great-grandfather, Gosha the Komodo dragon. He was close friends with Beastar Yafya and is a respected veteran. He had the opportunity to become Beastar, but he gave it up so he could raise a family instead."
"Oh, yeah. I think Legosi-san said something about that once."
Olivia gave a mischievous smile and crawled on top of Esther. "Beastar Esther. There's an idea." She brushed a hand against the tiger's left cheek. "The Beastar is a hero you know. A powerful person that protects the weak. Someone like that would be irresistible, I think."
Esther grinned and rolled over, pinning Olivia under her. "Oh, I can show you how 'powerful' I am." She passionately kissed the lab, who giggled after they separated their lips.
The black lab reached up and grabbed the white tiger by the collar of her shirt before starting to unbutton it.
Lee got out of the tub, feeling somewhat refreshed by the hot bath. After drying off and exiting the bathroom, he gulped as he looked at the bed.
Ibuki was watching TV, already undressed and under the covers. He glanced over at Lee. "I have my underwear on. I'm not trying to pressure you here."
Lee sighed. "I can't put my finger on what it is… but… it doesn't feel like the right time."
The deer-wolf gave him an understanding smile. "Then we don't need to. We can just cuddle and call it a night."
The wolf-rabbit nodded but was still frowning sadly. "I'm really sorry, Ibuki…"
Ibuki shook his head and still smiled. "Don't be. This relationship is about us bothbeing happy. And I'd feel awful if I pressured you into doing something you're not ready for."
Lee undressed and crawled under the covers with Ibuki.
The deer-wolf gave him a warm smile as he shut off the TV, tossed aside the remote, and pulled Lee into his embrace. "I'm happy I get to date someone like you at all. Someone that actually makes me feel happy and accepted. Someone who always brightens up my day."
The wolf-rabbit blushed. "C-c'mon. Don't get all sappy on me."
Ibuki chuckled and kissed his boyfriend's lips. "It might be sappy, but it's the honest truth. Dating you has made my life ten times better. Whether you're ready or not, you're a damn good person and someone I can't imagine living without at this point."
Lee laughed. "The feeling's mutual. I don't know when I'll be ready, but one day, I willbe. I promise."
Ibuki yawned and nuzzled his boyfriend's neck. "Good to hear it."
The yawn quickly became contagious and Lee found himself yawning too. The wolf-rabbit got drowsy, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Trevor was amazed by the size of the room. "Wow, I didn't know hotels were so big and pretty."
Jolene looked at him curiously. "Not all hotels are so big and fancy. Have you never been in one?"
The bear shook his head. "We couldn't afford it. Even when Mama and Papa were together, we didn't exactly rake in the cash. We were just barely scraping by."
The sheep sadly frowned. "I'm sorry to hear that, Trevor-kun. You must've had it rough."
Trevor smiled. "Don't worry about it. My stepmoms may not be rich but they aren't poor either."
Jolene chuckled. "My parents made good money, but we still lived in a condo. They didn't want to spoil me and taught me to conserve my money." She laughed nervously. "I guess I didn't learn, considering I just bribed a hotel."
The bear gave her a concerned look. "Are you sure you want to be in the same room as me? I'm not exactly a harmless person."
She gave him a reassuring look. "I know about what happened with your father. Unlike him, you didn't lose control of your instincts, just your emotions. And I knowyou don't hate me."
Trevor still looked uncertain. Then a thought crossed his mind and he quickly glanced at the bed. To his relief, there were two separate beds. He walked over and took a seat on his. "So what was the condo life like?"
Jolene set her purse down on the nightstand between the two beds. "I didn't have to worry about running to my parents after a nightmare since the apartment was a single room, and Legosi-san was very nice."
The bear chuckled. "He seemed nice when I talked to him."
The sheep grabbed her suitcase and pulled out her pajamas. "Do you mind if I take a bath first?"
Trevor shook his head. "Of course not. Go ahead."
Jolene smiled and walked into the bathroom. "I'll try not to be too long."
"No, no. Take your time."
Trevor heard the door shut and shortly afterward, the sound of running water.
He glanced over at the enormous TV hanging on the wall. The bear owned a TV when he was living with his parents, but it was much smaller and had terrible picture quality. He was fairly certain it was older than he was.
He was curious to see the picture quality on this TV and absent-mindedly reached over the nightstand to grab the controller. He felt his arm brush against something and heard a clattering noise. He looked down and saw that he had accidentally knocked over Jolene's purse, spilling the contents on the floor.
He facepalmed and got off the bed, crouching down over the mess. He set the purse upright and started putting the items back in. The contents of the bag were the typical items most women carried around as well as a case for her glasses, some lens wipes, and two pill bottles. The bottles both had Jolene's full name on them. One label said "estradiol" while the other said "cyproterone acetate". The bear was not familiar enough with medicine to know what these were for. But it wasn't his business anyway.
After putting everything back, he was about to stand up, until he spotted one more object that had fallen out. Whatever it was, it was black, rectangular, and somehow slid under the sheep's bed.
He reached down under the bed and grabbed whatever it was. It was hard and shaped in a way that made it obvious it was meant to be held by hands much smaller than Trevor's. He pulled the object out and looked at it curiously.
It was shaped somewhat like a TV remote, but it had two metal prongs on the end. There was also one section of the device that was red and looked like some kind of trigger. The bear couldn't control his curiosity and pushed down on it.
CRACK!
There was a flash of white light and Trevor dropped the device in fear and surprise when he saw electricity arc between the two prongs for less than a second. The mysterious device must have been a taser. It was Trevor's first time seeing one, but he had heard of them and knew what they did. There wasn't anything else it could be.
He picked it up off the floor and stared at it for a second before pushing down on the trigger again.
CRACK!
He watched with fascination as electricity arced between the prongs while making a loud crackling noise. The instant he released the trigger, the electricity went away.
That, of course, solved the mystery of what the device was. But then another question came to mind. Why did Jolene have a taser in her purse? He knew it was a device for self-defense. But what did she anticipate she may need to defend herself from?
Then, it finally hit him. It was Jolene's idea that the two should share a room. She knew ahead of time she'd be sharing a room with Trevor. It became clear to him exactly what she was afraid of.
He stared at the taser with a sad expression as her words echoed through his memory.
"It'll be fine. I put my full trust in you, Trevor-kun. I already know you'd never eat me."
The bear felt downtrodden as he placed the taser inside the sheep's purse. He felt lied to, but, ultimately, he couldn't blame her.
