Some War Action
A month later
"It is the time we have been waiting for!" Zeus his voice boomed across the vast hall echoing with the walls. The now 10 deities' strong Olympian Council were ready finally after years of preparation to begin their rebellion. "We have stewed enough and we will have to strike first against the Titans" Zeus continued dramatically. "Do any of you have suggestions for our targets?" Zeus asked his fellow Olympians. The room was currently only occupied by the aforementioned Olympian Gods and their allied Titans sitting on some guest thrones like usual.
Hades for once raised his voice from his usual silence "I have heard rumors of powerful beings trapped in Tartarus, only guarded by one warden. That could be beneficial for our cause" Before Zeus could reply Perseus jumped in "Excellent! Now we have one target" Perseus looked around for a moment receiving nods of acceptance and continued, "I think that we should strike at the snake's head and try to attack their general" Perseus said confidence evident in his voice.
The Olympians looked thoughtful at the proposition and eventually called for a vote, which got a unanimous decision to attack the Titans' top general. "So who is going where?" Aphrodite asked curiously. Aphrodite's throne had appeared at her husband's side shuffling Hera away from the two Kings, which she didn't appreciate but she was unfortunately for her quite powerless to deny the action herself.
With Aphrodite's status as Queen of The Gods, Hera was technically inferior status-wise to her now Sister-in-law which didn't sit right with her. Perseus glanced appreciatively at his wife for the very relevant question and then turned to his only niece. Athena immediately picked up on the unasked question and answered quickly "Well for the prison break down in Tartarus, we should have a minimum of two but the best-case scenario would be three powerful ones just in case something goes wrong. And then have maybe five of us for the raid against the General.
"Very well, we will do it simultaneously with me, Hades, and Poseidon taking the prison break while Perseus, Athena, Aphrodite, Pallas, Crius, and Coeus go with him just to be careful" Zeus ordered with authority befitting a being holding a title such as his. The Titans who usually just sat silently observing the council meetings on their guest thrones nodded in agreement.
A week later
I walked up the mountain towards the foggy peak. I was quite nervous about this coming engagement in regards to my last interaction with Atlas. I felt the oxygen level lowering drastically(even if I didn't need it) as I neared the top. The pressure was also becoming quite noticeable when I reached the peculiar fog.
I walked with calmed steps that I didn't think were appropriate for such a nerve-racking situation. I walked through the mist my steps echoing around me, all the while I monitored my surroundings constantly for any sign of deities. I suddenly felt five weak powered beings appear a couple of feet in front of me, they were probably nymphs or something like that but it could also be five Titans with their power aura hidden.
I took a calming breath before stepping out of the all-enveloping mist and being greeted by a beautiful garden with stunning plants of all kinds. Helios was burning bright today(the little trickster) probably thinking it is funny to sunburn all us lowly ground deities. I suddenly noticed the five beautiful standing in front of me.
The youngest looked maybe 12 and the eldest of the five looked 17 or 18. All the girls/women shared the same volcanic eyes with different kinds of black shaded hair.
"Who are you to trespass onto our garden?" The eldest one said confidently with a strong voice. "I'm what you would call a wanderer who has gotten lost, can you tell me where I am?" Perseus asked while making a show of looking around the area. The women raised their eyebrows in baffled surprise at the bad lie. "Uh-huh, and if I said that you just lied what would you answer then?" The eldest sister said sarcastically. "That bad?" All the sisters nodded their heads in unison.
"My brother was always much better than me at the theatrics," Perseus said under his breath, but judging by the facial expressions of the sisters he hadn't been silent enough. "Well, what if I said that I had a really good reason for being here?" Perseus asked the sisters. The eldest sister yet again answered in an exasperated tone "If you did have a good reason to be visiting this garden then we would of course let our father know"
"Well I just heard about these beautiful women and I had to see their beauty myself" Perseus tried charmingly. The eldest sister apparently was warming up to him because she had an amused smile "No, I don't believe you" Perseus tried to make a disappointed face "But I haven't even gotten your names yet" The eldest sister looked around with apprehension before quickly answering "Very well my name is Aigle, this is Erytheis..." She pointed to the second eldest sister "... this is Hespera..." She gestured to the middle eldest sister "... this is Arethusa..." She pointed to the second youngest sister and then finally pointed at the youngest girl "...and then, of course, Zoƫ our youngest sister"
Perseus greeted them all with a friendly smile and nod, before turning back to Aigle, who looked quite happy with his attention judging by the small red spots on her cheeks and a small smile. The smile suddenly dropped from her face and she was just about to shout out before she managed to do that though she was stopped by a kiss from Perseus. She was stunned before she tried to reciprocate, but unfortunately, she lost any attention from her kisser.
"I managed to stop them from raising the alarm," Perseus said to the mist. The mist parted to emit three Titans and two Olympian Goddesses. Aphrodite noticed the blushing face of the eldest Hesperides and looked at her husband with an amused smile. She mentally said to him 'You naughty boy, infidelity already? I'm disappointed' Perseus didn't catch her amused state and his eyes shot up in terror.
'I'm just joking husband, I'm not against bringing an extra one-night occupant from time to time, Love Goddess remember?' Aphrodite mentally relaid to her husband. Perseus was still a little nervous but his anxieties were interrupted by the rest of their team. "Good job, though the kissing part wasn't necessary it got the job done," Crius said with a little bit of amusement hidden in his eyes.
Perseus blushed in embarrassment, but he kept silent. "The target is probably on the peak and if not then he is going to eventually arrive" Crius continued seriously, his earlier amusement gone entirely. "We could also interrogate his daughters," Coeus said in a gruff voice. "No! No form of harm or mistreatment is to happen to these women. They're under my protection, understood?" Perseus said threateningly. Coeus replied with a raised eyebrow. Perseus didn't budge and Coeus eventually raised his arms in a nonthreatening manner.
Until now Aigle had been completely out of it, with a mess of emotions hitting her rapidly. Her first kiss had happened simultaneously as her garden was invaded, she learned that the kiss had only been a distraction and felt quite betrayed and fearful until Perseus stood up for her against his fellow invader who was going to do something to her father. She looked closer at the three Titans present(because she knew they were Titans because they felt close if a little stronger than her father which would have been an impossibility for a fourth-generation deity to do).
They looked quite familiar she mused as her inquisitive gaze was suddenly returned by the slightly smaller Titan. She was hit by realization when she suddenly remembered meeting all these Titans before during a feast of her father's. 'They were Crius, Coeus a-and...Pallas! That was it, but what are they doing here?' Aigle now thought to herself. 'Wait, golden eyes... golden ey... but why would her great uncle try to do something against his general? There's nobody other than him with natural golden eyes except... one of his children's rescuers, she had heard one time about a decade ago that the eaten children of The King were rescued by a golden-eyed deity'
"Who are you," Aigle asked the golden-eyed man. His eyes widened in surprise before he answered in a slightly guilty voice "My name is Perseus, I'm God of Nature and King of the Olympian gods, I'm sorry that it had to be this way" He snapped his fingers and after three seconds her eyes closed and she dropped down to the ground. "I don't like it either but it's necessary," Aphrodite says understandingly at his inner moral dilemma.
Athena remained silently observing their surroundings for any kind of ambush or trick. "Should we get a move on then?" Pallas said after a few moments. Everyone agreed and after ensuring that the nymphs would be asleep for a long period they made their way through the admittedly beautiful mountain and up to the palace on the mountain peak.
When they arrived they opened the gigantic oak tree doors and moved silently in, except Athena and Pallas who went around the palace to the gardens on the other side of the villa. Perseus and his team silently managed to sneak their way through the spartan rooms. They eventually found their target exercising at a metal training dummy, he looked to have a meeting in a little bit because there were lots of scrolls and such rolled out on some tables behind him, they decided to not take the risk of attacking immediately before knowing the extent of the meeting.
Their cautious approach looked to have paid off because not five minutes later more and more Titans flashed in all of them armored with their weapons sheathed but ready for battle nonetheless. The Titans were gossiping like they would have done usually but there was a feeling of something big was about to happen. The most famous(or infamous) Titans there other than Atlas were: Iapetus, Hyperion, Theia, Perses, Prometheus, and Epimetheus. Atlas got the attention of all the Titans and undiscovered Olympian Gods and allies.
"Good you have arrived, anyone not arriving at these highly important meetings will be branded traitors to the loyalist cause, understood?" Atlas said in his usual military fashion. There was a thunderous uproar of agreement with nervousness hiding just under their confident facades. Atlas nodded at the acceptable reception and turned his head to the Titan at his side who was glowing silver with a truly impressive spear stashed on his back. "Father, is your half-brother on his way?"
Iapetus grimaced at the title of that monster but answered with no discernible tone "Yes he is on his way, though he was located quite deeply in my uncle's body so we will have to wait for quite a bit before he can be deployed against the rebels, I would guess that he would arrive in about a year" Atlas carefully laid facade cracked a little and he frowned ever so slightly "Do we have to use him as the ram? We could beat down this uprising before he even leaves my great uncle" Atlas asked his father.
Iapetus looked like he agreed with his son but answered dutifully "The King has demanded it and we are nothing if not loyal servants and extensions of our King's will" Atlas nodded understanding his father's predicament. "Very well, but we weren't ordered to abstain from skirmishes right?" Iapetus nodded in affirmative and Atlas sighed relieved "Well at least we don't have to hide around here like cowards".
"Alright" Atlas snapped his fingers and a map appeared in front of him hanging from the roof. "We are going to probe their defenses here..." He pointed to one place south of the Olympian capital in Pieria. "...here and here" he gestured to points in the western Elimea region, and the province bordering Pieria in the north, Macedon respectively. "If we find any response here then we move back and regroup before attacking there later with an overwhelming force, this is of course only a superficial review of this campaign and the rest of the details are on a need to know basis" Atlas finished.
"We are finished for this meeting and other details will be addressed to most of you when you under the assessment of the high command are eligible to be informed, you can leave," Atlas said with a hand dismissing them until only four Titans were left.
The remaining Titans: Atlas, Iapetus, Hyperion, and Perses, were quietly discussing different tactics and strategies for the coming campaign. The 'rebels' mentally sent orders between them spreading them out. Perseus decided that a little backup would be appreciated and mentally asked for his son Prokopios to arrive silently on his signal.
Prokopios flashed onto the middle of the mountain housing the Titans general and he sprinted up with his godly speed and endurance. He arrived eventually at his father's side and did as instructed establishing a weak ward in the surrounding area to ward of any deities trying to flash in and send them away at Mach 2 in any direction. The ward wouldn't stop anyone knowing about it, but it would work adequately for these arrogant Titans who would probably be completely baffled by it.
When he finished the ward he signaled to his father and went to his position which was a reserve role. The Olympian alliance or rebels as the Titans called them surged forward simultaneously with only Athena and Prokopios holding back analyzing the field.
This time Perseus decided to not be arrogant and went to Perses watching for any kind of attack.
Atlas was taken completely by surprise with Crius and Pallas occupying his attention and putting him on the back foot. Coeus decided to meet his brother Iapetus head-on with a swing of his mace which was blunted because he was a creepy big shit who liked to smash his enemies into mush. Aphrodite and after a few moments Athena went after Hyperion with their knives and spear respectively.
Perseus was this time completely focused and immediately noticed his foe's relaxed attitude, irritation sprung up at the disrespect but he ignored it and used his power over Nature to catch Perses's foot with a strong root shooting through the marble floor. When Perses was caught by it he immediately quick as a viper thrust at his opponent's midsection making a deep cut in Perses's abdomen. Perses looked shocked at his opponent's daring attack before his face reddened and he surged forward the root holding onto his foot straining dangerously but managing to hold on if only barely.
Perses momentum was stopped suddenly and he grunted in pain when he felt his heels bones snap at the pressure exerted upon it. Perseus again snapped forward with his customary Xiphos this time thrusting at the other leg of Perses trying to disable him. Perses would have managed to dodge the strike if not for his arrested movement. This time Perses emitted a horrifying screeching noise when he felt his tendons and muscles in his left leg getting bisected in two.
Perseus decided to not joke around, and took his xiphos and stuck it into the brain of his opponent mercifully. He orientated himself and noticed his wife, niece, and son managing to just about hold their own against Hyperion. Crius and Pallas were holding their nephew/cousin occupied with a two-pronged attack. And then finally Iapetus and Coeus fight which looked to be going quite poorly for the 'rebel' judging by the silver-coated spear resting against his neck.
Even if Perseus didn't particularly like Coeus personally, he could appreciate his sheer strength both physically and power-wise so with a little regret made a big oak tree with tree trunks as arms swinging against his uncle. Iapetus was hit with enough force to launch him from his current position his spear making a thin line of ichor run across Coeus's neck. Iapetus now noticed the shifting odds and probably called in reinforcements because there were suddenly two sonic booms above them before two flaming figures shot away screaming their lungs out.
Iapetus looked shocked and a little apprehensive at the apparently 'strong' wards surrounding them, he didn't get to think more about this however because he was set upon by his nephew's probing sword thrust making Iapetus block it with his metal-cored spear handle. A sweatdrop dripped down Perseus's forehead and Iapetus got a growing feeling of dread in his stomach. He was suddenly hit from behind pushing him forward onto the short sword which managed to infiltrate his armor.
Iapetus got a look of respect on his face at the underhanded trick and let his essence escape to his uncle's realm. Perseus solemnly dropped his now rapidly deteriorating uncle off his Xiphos and once again turned around to orientate himself. He didn't even react to the three more sonic booms and screams of absolute terror from above or the fire show playing out in the sky.
He noticed that the only one left was Hyperion, who was only holding on with a glowing blast of his true form which just about managed to hold off his opponents. He looked around before running back and then jumping out of a window behind him, the last thing they saw was a large flash before the battle was over in a decisive victory for the Olympians.
The only injuries were the neck injury of Coeus and a concussion for Pallas who looked to be ignoring it which was probably a bad idea but no one mentioned anything. Everyone silently agreed to just leave immediately and after Prokopios had taken down the ward they all flashed out to the Olympian capital.
The next day
All of the Olympian Alliance were situated in the Hall of the Gods and after the two successful raids yesterday everyone was in quite high spirits.
"For our rescue of us, we would think it would only be natural for you to repay us immediately," Zeus said imperiously to the rescued elder Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires. The Cyclopes all raised their one eyebrow in a questioning manner before shrugging and replying "I assume that you lack symbols of power, yes?" The middle Cyclops Arges asked. Zeus looked reluctant to admit it but nodded quickly. "Well then we will forge our rescuers' symbols of power" Arges continued, but Zeus interrupted him this time deadly serious. "You will forge symbols of power for at least my brothers understood?" Arges and his brothers looked amused at the stipulation but agreed nonetheless.
Briareus was the spokesman for his brothers and said "I and my brothers are very good at throwing stones" And that was their repayment proposal which was quickly accepted by the council. "How long would the forging take?" Zeus asked trying to not sound too excited. "We could get it done by the end of the week" Arges replied and his brothers Brontes and Steropes nodded agreeing with their brother's assessment.
"Get to it then!" Zeus ordered a little irritated at their 'tardiness'. Perseus only shook his head at his brother's lack of patience not that he was any better.
One week later
Arges presented the lightning bolt to Perseus's brother. Zeus's eyes lit up with greed and he quickly summoned the bolt to his hand and a lightning bolt stuck the council chamber's marble floor making yet another black spot onto the floor making Athena twitch in her throne. Arges then took a helm from his brother Brontes and gave that to Hades who summoned his symbol of power suddenly making him invisible and only leaving an inconspicuous shadow in his stead.
And then Steropes stepped forward with a three-pronged spear which leaped into Poseidon's hand eagerly as can be. And then finally Arges produced an Elegant cowhide sword sheath which had an eloquent golden leather grip and crossguard sticking out of it. The whole sheath and sword leaped to Perseus's hand. Perseus reverently slid the xiphos of course out of the sheath and noticed the inscription on the blade's flat side which was engraved with 'Syntrofos'(or companion for all you non-Greek speaking/reading readers(which includes me, unfortunately)).
End of Chapter
Those who want a 'Ohh no Percy is betrayed by everyone cliche story will be disappointed because this story will not be like that, sorry(not sorry). But in all seriousness, I don't like 'Ohh no Percy is betrayed by everyone' stories because they are in my opinion 'unrealistic'.
I hope that the combat was bearable because I in my personal opinion am not very good at combat situations in writing.
