A New School Horse For Katie
Carole put her left hand upon Katie's right shoulder, "I know just how you feel, Katie." she said.
Katie just looked up at Carole.
"How could you possibly know how I feel? I've lost a part of me! I don't think I should be riding anymore! I was even reckless with Comanche!" Katie exclaimed, beginning to sob all over again.
"You were not being reckless with Comanche, he was just too old, and, when people and animals get too old, it's time for them to meet their makers, do you understand?" Carole asked Katie.
"I understand this," Katie said to Carole, drying her eyes. "it just seems so unfair."
"I know you loved Comanche, Stevie and Melanie loved him too, but let's go and find you a new school horse to ride." Carole said to Katie gently.
"All right." Katie said.
Carole and Katie began looking at school horses up and down the stable.
When Carole noticed Max leading a beautiful Andalusian grey back to his stall.
"Pegasus giving you trouble, Max?" Carole asked.
"You can say that again, Carole," Max agreed. "I can't get this stubborn fellow into his stall!"
"Excuse me, Max? May I give it a shot?" Katie asked.
Max gave Pegasus's lead rope to Katie who then led the stallion back into his stall.
