A/N: Written for the Dramione Fanfiction Writers Groups Deal or No Deal Competition for July 2021! Thank you so much to the modmins for all their hard work on putting this amazing comp together! The theme this month was Legendary Duos! I was given a minimum word count of 11000 and my legendary duo was Ricardo and Lucy. I wrote a few slices of life based on some famous I Love Lucy episodes (see if you can spot them!)

Grammarly kindly beta'd this for me. All mistakes are mine.

Enjoy!

Miseria

"Draco Malfoy! You have some explaining to do!" Hermione shouted, her hands on her hips as she stood in the doorway to their lounge. There was paint everywhere, on the floors, on the walls, on the furniture, on both Draco and Scorpius.

Draco and Scorpius were on the floor, desperately scrubbing at some of the paint when Hermione walked in, having just come in from work.

"Hermione, uh, hi!" Draco said, trying to hide the fact that he was nervous she had caught them doing something they surely should have moved outside.

"What happened?" she asked, pulling out her wand and vanishing all of the paint from both the room and Draco and Scorpius. Scorpius grinned up at her as he toddled to her and put his arms up. She swung him up into her arms and cuddled him close for a moment as Draco dug his toe in the carpet, not answering her question.

She sighed. She couldn't wait until Draco would be allowed to do magic again. His ten years of magical probation would be up in just six months. Then, maybe she wouldn't come home to messes anymore. Though, perhaps she'll have to get him brushed up on household charms.

"We just got carried away with the finger paints," Draco finally said. "I meant to have it cleaned up before you got home."

Hermione smiled, her anger disappearing. How could she be mad at him when Draco was such a good father to Scorpius? He stayed home so that she could continue her work at the Ministry. And as Draco had pointed out on more than one occasion, it wasn't really his fault the Ministry had given him an overly harsh sentence. Ten years for aiding in the death of Dumbledore, despite the evidence that Dumbledore had planned his death himself.

In the grand scheme of things, ten years wasn't so long in a wizard's life. And if Hermione had allowed a few of the Malfoy house elves to come work for them, Draco would be less handicapped. Part of her felt guilty for that. But she was fairly certain she would feel much more guilt if she knew there were actual house elves in her home doing work she or Draco could easily do.

"Forgive me?" Draco asked, coming up alongside her and sliding a hand around her waist. "You know how I get caught up in things."

"I do," Hermione said, her lips twisting into a smile as she gazed up at him. He looked down at her and Scorpius so adoringly that Hermione felt a happy twinge in her heart. No matter what Draco did, she would always love him. She leaned up for a kiss and giggled when Scorpius pushed their heads together.

"Iss! Iss!" he babbled and then clapped when Draco pressed his lips to hers.

"Again? Draco Malfoy! Please explain to me what happened this time!" Hermione exclaimed. Their entire foyer was covered in soap bubbles, from floor to ceiling all she could see were bubbles. Both Draco and Scorpius had identical looks of alarm and mischief.

"Bubble fight?" Draco said, as if he weren't quite sure what he and Scorpius were doing in the piles of bubbles.

"It looks like a foam party from a rave," Hermione snarked as she began clearing the bubbles away.

"Foam party? Rave?" Draco asked, looking sheepish once more. Scorpius was practically soaked and with the soapy floor, he kept falling as he tried to reach his mum.

"Never mind," Hermione muttered as she cleared up the mess and dried the floor. "You need to keep track of time better. Merlin, I can't wait till you have a wand again."

"You and me both," he muttered sulkily.

"Crap, Draco, I'm sorry," Hermione said, reaching for her husband. She snagged his hand and gave him a little tug. He turned to face her with a mutinous scowl on his face. "It's been a shit day, I shouldn't have taken it out on you. Forgive me?"

"'Course," he replied and dropped a kiss on top of her head. "I'll just go take little man and we'll get all scrubbed clean in time for dinner."

Hermione smiled as they went up the stairs, Scorpius babbling to Draco the whole way.

"Mumma, Mumma, tummy hurt," Scorpius said the moment Hermione walked in the door. His face was covered in chocolate and the moment he reached her, he threw up on her shoes.

"Oh, Scorpius! What happened?" Hermione vanished the pile of sick and scooped him up into her arms. She felt his head, but there was no fever. "Draco!"

Draco hurried around the corner, he also had chocolate smeared on her face.

"You, uh, going to explain this?" Hermione asked, pointing between her son and husband.

"We were making your favorites, triple chocolate truffles and Scorpius got a little carried away with taste testing them."

"No sweets for a week, young man," Hermione told Scorpius. He offered her a terrific pout, but dug his sweet little head into her shoulder and stuck his thumb in his mouth. "Oh, poor boy, you really don't feel well, do you?"

"Think you can handle cleaning up?" Hermione asked as she started up the stairs. "I'll get Scorp laid down for a nap."

"I got it," Draco assured her, giving her a thankful smile.

"Granger! Granger!" Draco shouted the moment she walked in the door. He was holding his head strangely, Scorpius giggling and copying him as he trotted after.

"What's going on, Draco?" she asked as she set her briefcase down by the door.

"I'm going bald!" Draco shouted, pulling his hair back so he could show her.

"What? No you aren't." Hermione shook her head and rolled her eyes. Scorpius was pushing his hair back the same way Draco was.

"Bal, bal, bal. Dadada bal!" Scorpius said with a giggle and lifted his arms in the universal signal to pick him up.

Hermione swung him up into her arms. "He's saying ball, Draco. He wants his ball. You know the green one that's his favorite?"

"So I'm not going bald?" Draco asked, a hint of relief in his voice.

"Even if you were, I think there's a potion for that," Hermione said, fighting back a grin. "I'd be happy to make it up for you."

"Only if you kept this whole balding business to yourself," Draco threatened. "The last thing I need are Potter and Weasley to give me hell about it."

Hermione threw her head back in laughter. "Have you seen Ron lately? He'd not be one to talk, my dear."

"Weasley's going bald?" Draco asked, his face lighting up. "And I'm not!" He laughed then, his old, mean cackle that just made Hermione roll her eyes at him.

"It's not a competition, Draco. One day, you'll probably both be bald."

"No, I refuse. I'll take the potion every week for the rest of my life instead of going bald," he told her.

"Bal! Dadada bal!" Scorpius said, clapping his hands as Draco pulled the green ball from inside one of Scorpius's toy bins.
