TEARING AT MY SOUL

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Takes place during the episode "Rage" and is just a drabble of Hailey's inner turmoil regarding the events that happened between her, Roy, and Voight.

She had killed a man. She had killed a man and then had covered it up. Okay, granted, the prick had attacked Kim and was about to kill Sergeant Voight, but none of their actions hadn't been reported. Voight had just swept it under the rug like it didn't matter once Roy was dead. How could he be so cavalier about the fact that they had killed a man and had buried him somewhere rather than bring him in or report that the suspect had been killed? That's what you were supposed to do. They had a chain of command for a reason. And yet…Voight had just blown the whole thing to smithereens. Hadn't he been the one to say that he didn't want her to be him? And now he was telling her to shut up about what had happened and to move on? She couldn't do that! And she couldn't let Kim think that they had just let the prick get away with hurting her! And yet…everyone else seemed ready to let it go and move on. Let it go. How could they let it go so easily? Were they just that used to Voight making perps disappear in some way that they barely blinked now when he told them things had been taken care of? Or had the rest of them been in her shoes once and were just staying silent because they didn't want to get involved? What was she supposed to do? How was she supposed to deal with this? And why didn't Voight seem more affected? How could he be okay with this? It wasn't okay! She had killed a man! She had killed a man and she had no idea what to do now…
