Girls' Night In At Rescue Bots Academy

A.N. After seeing the episodes where Slash and Brushfire were introduced to Rescue Bots Academy, I thought it would be a good idea to do a story where they have some "girl time" with Whirl, and here is the end result. Enough has been said, so let our story begin.

One afternoon, Whirl was chatting with Slash and Brushfire in her quarters.

"You know, girls, I've been thinking." Whirl was telling them. "Has it ever occured to you that we've never had any real bonding time between the three of us?"

"No, not really." said Brushfire. "But you're right."

"Yeah." agreed Slash. "We really should try and have some bonding time with each other. I mean, sure we kind of bonded somewhat with the boys, but it would be nice if it was just us girls."

"That's my point." said Whirl. "We need to put aside some "girl time" for the three of us."

But little did the three girls know that their chance to do just that would come much sooner than expected. At that moment, Heatwave's voice came through the PA system.

"All bots to the briefing room." he boomed. "I repeat, all bots to the briefing room."

"What does Heatwave want?" asked Brushfire. "I hope nothing's wrong."

"Well, there's only one way to find out." said Whirl.

With that, Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire made their way to the briefing room, where Heatwave and the others were waiting.

"We're all here, sir." said Whirl. "What's going on? Are we in any trouble?"

"No, Whirl, nobody's in trouble." Heatwave reassured. "I just have some announcements to make."

"Oh, okay." said Slash. "What are they?"

"Tonight, me and Quickshadow are going to a movie at the drive-in movie theater in Milford." said Heatwave.

"That sounds like fun." Whirl smiled. "But what about the rest of us?"

"I'm going to a Cube game on Cybertron with the Aerialbots." Hot Shot put in.

"That's right." said Heatwave. "And while Hot Shot is on Cybertron, the rest of you will be at the Griffin Rock Firehouse with Chief Burns and his family, who are having a Games Night tonight."

It was then that Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire were all struck with the same idea.

"You girls thinking what I'm thinking?" Whirl whispered.

Slash and Brushfire simply nodded, and the trio looked up at Heatwave.

"Heatwave, is it okay if me, Slash, and Brushfire stay here?" asked Whirl.

Heatwave was surprised and puzzled.

"Don't you want to go to the Games Night with everyone else who's going?" the Rescue Bot leader questioned.

"Maybe next time." said Whirl. "We were thinking that this might be a good opportunity for the three of us to have some real bonding time."

"They do have a point there, Heatwave." agreed Quickshadow.

"And I do think it would be nice if someone stayed behind and kept an eye on things here at the Academy." put in Chase. "You know, since we'll all be absent."

"Those are very good points." said Heatwave. "And they make a lot of sense, too."

Heatwave then looked back at Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire.

"Okay, you three, you can stay here." said Heatwave.

"Thank you, sir!" Whirl grinned.

Just then, footsteps were heard. The footsteps belonged to Air Raid, who had just Space Bridged to the Academy from Cybertron with the other Aerialbots.

"Hey, everybody!" Air Raid greeted.

"Hey, Air Raid." the other bots replied.

Air Raid then went over to Hot Shot.

"You ready for the game, Hot Shot?" he asked. "The other guys are waiting by the Space Bridge."

"I'm always ready for Cube!" Hot Shot replied eagerly. "Whether I'm playing it or watching it!"

"Alrighty then." laughed Air Raid. "Come on, you."

"Bye, everyone!" Hot Shot called as he left with Air Raid.

"Bye, Hot Shot!" everyone else called back.

"Enjoy yourself!" Heatwave added.

As soon as Hot Shot was gone, Heatwave and the others decided it was time for them to leave as well, so while Heatwave and Quickshadow simply walked out the front door of the Academy building, Chase, Blades, Boulder, Bumblebee, Hoist, Medix, and Wedge took the Ground Bridge to Griffin Rock, leaving Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire to themselves.

"So...what should we do first?" asked Slash.

"Anyone up for a movie?" suggested Brushfire.

"Sounds good to me." nodded Whirl.

Slash agreed, and they decided that they would each pick out one movie for them to watch together, one after the other, and when they looked through the bots' collection of Earth movies, Whirl picked Police Academy, Slash picked The Land Before Time, and Brushfire selected Kangaroo Jack.

"Good choices." said Whirl.

"Thanks." said Slash. "What should we watch first?"

"It doesn't matter to me." shrugged Whirl.

"How about we watch your choice first, Whirl?" asked Brushfire.

"Okay." nodded Whirl.

And so, the movie-watching officially began with Police Academy and ended with The Land Before Time, but not before they watched Kangaroo Jack, which in turn came after Police Academy.

"Now those were some good movies." said Slash as the credits for The Land Before Time played.

"They sure were." agreed Brushfire. "And boy, that Michael Winslow bloke was hilarious in Police Academy with all those funny sound effects he made with his mouth."

"Chase thinks so too." said Whirl. "Michael Winslow's sound effects are one of the main reasons Police Academy is one of his favorite Earth movies. Those sound effects always make him laugh every time he watches it. In fact, he claims that it just keeps getting funnier every single times he watches it. But you know, Littlefoot's mother's death in The Land Before Time was very sad."

"Oh, yes." nodded Slash. "I find it hard to believe that we were able to keep ourselves from crying during that scene, especially you, Whirl, since you were the most choked-up about it."

"Yeah, that scene made me think of my Papa." replied Whirl. "I just can't bear to be put in that same situation as Littlefoot, so I really can't be blamed, can I?"

"Definitely not." said Brushfire.

"Anyways, what should we do now?" asked Slash.

"How about we play a game?" Whirl proposed.

"Sure." agreed Brushfire. "But what kind of game should we play?"

"How about a card game?" Slash offered.

"Sounds good." said Whirl. "How about Go Fish?"

Slash and Brushfire agreed, and Whirl got out some large playing cards and dealt them out, the game began, and ended with Slash winning with seven books*.

"Good game, everyone." said Whirl as she put the cards away. "And congrats on your victory, Slash."

"Thanks." said Slash. "You two weren't so bad yourselves."

"Now what?" asked Brushfire.

"Oh, I've got an idea." said Whirl. "Karaoke, anyone?"

"What's "karaoke"?" asked Slash.

"That's when you sing along to a certain song." said Whirl. "In fact, Jazz recently uploaded an awesome playlist of songs we could sing along to on his Bot Blog page."

"Sounds fun!" grinned Brushfire. "Let's do it!"

With that, Whirl, after grabbing the karaoke microphone she got for hers, Hot Shot, Whirl, Medix, and Wedge's first Christmas, went on Bot Blog and soon found Jazz's page, and in turn found the playlist, which she wasted no time in pressing the "play" button. Soon, the music began, and the girls each took a turn singing a song on the playlist. The songs on the playlist were as follows, and I quote: "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham!, "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar, "Livin' On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi, "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen, "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins, "Take On Me" by A-ha, "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor, "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel, "I Just Died In Your Arms" by Cutting Crew, "Whip It" by DEVO, "You Spin Me 'Round (Like A Record)" by Dead Or Alive, and "The Final Countdown" by Europe.

"Now that was fun." said Brushfire as the last song ended.

"Say, I wonder how everyone in Griffin Rock is getting along." said Whirl.

"And Hot Shot at the Cube game." added Brushfire.

Meanwhile, in Griffin Rock, Bumblebee, along with the rest of the Rescue Bots and Junior Rescue Bots as well as the Burns family, were having a grand old time. Their good friends, Dr. Ezra Greene, his wife Professor Ana Baranova, and their daughters Frankie and CeCe, were also present. Everyone was watching as Medix was engaging Chase in a game of chess, with Chase playing the "light" side and Medix the "dark" side. Most of their respective pieces had been eliminated from the board, and it had gotten to the point where checkmate was within the victor's grasp. It was a tense moment between the two players and the spectators. Nobody knew who would win and how.

"Okay, Medix, it's your turn." said Chase as he moved one of his pieces.

Medix thought about his move for quite a bit. Finally, he moved one of his pieces and ended up trapping Chase's king completely.

"Checkmate!" Medix declared.

The small crowd erupted in cheers. Even Chase congratulated Medix.

"Well done." he said as he held out his hand.

"Thank you, Chase." Medix replied as he shook it.

Elsewhere, on Cybertron, Hot Shot and the Aerialbots were having a grand time at the Cube game, which was between Hot Shot's favorite Cube team, the Iacon Wreckers, against the Kalis Pounders. So far, both teams had the same amount of energon boots.

"Come on, Iacon!" Hot Shot shouted from his seat. "Show Kalis how it's done!"

"Iacon! Iacon! Iacon!" the Aerialbots chanted.

Hot Shot and the Aerialbots both teams try to catch the Cube so that one player would absorb another energon boost for their team. Quite a few intense minutes passed by, as the Cube was trying desperately to not get caught, but in the end, one of the Wreckers players successfully caught the Cube and absorbed the boost, which was met with raucous cheering, especially from Hot Shot.

"Yeah!" Hot Shot cried out with glee. "Go Iacon!"

Back at the Academy, Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire were in the Action Matrix. Whirl and Brushfire were engaged in a one-on-one tennis match with Slash keeping score. It was currently Whirl's turn to serve. So far, it was a deuce, as both Whirl and Brushfire had thirty points.

"Ready, Brushfire?" asked Whirl.

"You bet a million shanix I am." said Brushfire.

With that, Whirl served the ball, and Brushfire hit is back to Whirl, and Whirl hit it back to Brushfire, but it flew so fast that Brushfire ended up missing.

"Forty, thirty!" Slash called. "Game point!"

"You can do it, Brushfire." Brushfire told herself.

Brushfire soon found the ball and hit it back to Whirl, who served again, and the match eventually ended with Whirl winning an additional point, and she congratulated her opponent.

"You did good, Brushfire." she said. "How about a rematch?"

"No thanks." denied Brushfire. "I think I should rest for a bit."

"Alright." said Whirl. "How about another movie?"

Slash and Brushfire agreed, and after putting the tennis equipment away, they went back to the lounge for another movie. This time, they just decided to watch one movie, and after rolling a pair of dice to see who would choose the movie, which Slash ended up winning by rolling ten while Whirl rolled five and Brushfire rolled seven, Slash chose We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story from the Earth movie collection, and it was soon over.

"That movie was probably just as good as the other three we watched earlier." said Brushfire.

"Sure was." agreed Whirl. "I like how the dinosaurs were trying to conceal their identities to the public like we Cybetronians used to with Milford and Griffin Rock. Also, that "Neweyes" guy looked familiar to me."

"Did he now?" asked Slash.

"Oh, yeah." nodded Whirl.

It was at that moment that Heatwave and the others returned.

"Welcome back, guys." said Whirl. "How was the Cube game, Hot Shot?"

"Awesome!" replied Hot Shot. "Iacon creamed Kalis!"

"That's nice." said Brushfire.

"Me and Quickshadow enjoyed the movie." added Heatwave.

"And the rest of us had an excellent time with the Burnses." put in Medix.

"What about you three?" asked Boulder. "Did you enjoy yourselves?"

"We sure did." nodded Slash.

"That's good." smiled Quickshadow. "Now, it is getting late, so it's time we were powering down for the night."

Everyone else agreed and started making their way towards their stasis pods. As the bots began shutting themselves down for the night, Whirl, Slash, and Brushfire felt very pleased indeed to have had such a wonderful time together.

The End

A.N. 2. To those who don't play card games often, a "book" is four cards of the same face value in each of the four different suits.
