In Disguise (Keyfabe)

Back for another story, eh? Well, here's one that's more on the imaginative end. Not at all from personal experience this time, though I wonder if Voltaire had one such past when he wrote the song this tale takes inspiration from in both substance and structure. Tonight's story starts with a fellow Kaigai Niki who found himself too deep in the wrong part of the rabbit hole. A story of caution, if you will. And remember, if anyone asks, you didn't hear this from me…

It was 5 months ago in the rabbit hole, late at night for our fellow fan. He watched the show of a circus girl, who without warning quickly began. Her eyes turned into diamonds and spades and hearts, and her show was a work of art. But then something drew his attention away, if only for a few moments. If he was fluent in more than just English and rudimentary shitty Japanese, then he would've understood that she was saying her farewell. By the time he turned around, the stream was already gone. He would have said goodbye~.

4 months ago in the rabbit hole, the boy counted his superchats. He came to the stream of a dragon girl, one of the tallest girls he had seen, at that. Though her voice squeaked and her words were crass, she had a smile as sweet as the rest. Creative and witty and unseiso, she was a real treat to see, he'd say so. But nothing was made to last. Soon, she had to go back to her home. When the time came, he saw her leave at dawn. He had to say goodbye~.

3 months ago in the rabbit hole, the man stopped by the dog girl's performance for the first time in his life. She played through Sonic Adventure, through every moment of strife. Rolling around at the speed of sound, he witnessed her clear level after level, not slowing down in the slightest. The Kaigai Niki thought he saw a red stain near her mouth, probably from the yubis she ate. After a few hours, he began to yawn. He should've left then, but he thought she would wrap it up soon. Yet she kept playing, for hours and hours on and on. He should've said goodbye~.

Just what kinda guy was he, to have as many loves as three? Just your run-of-the-mill fan and comrade, if on the bell curve's lower end. He watched a few more talents, though. Yet to have more than one oshi would be unwise. The constant need to compromise, the waking hours on the rise, days spent on streams without reprise. But his love, as big as it was, was something to sympathize...

2 month ago in the rabbit hole, he caught a glimpse of a succubus demon woman's grace. Her pitch was as sweet as honey, and made his heart pound and race. Meanwhile, her figure and allure appealed to his… *ehem* other head. With a flap of her wings, she left him with chills and stole his heart, to the point where he didn't want to be apart. As a moth to a flame, to her voice he was drawn. He could not say goodbye~.

1 month ago in the rabbit hole, before him a swarm of bats did spin, more than nineteen. From the cloud popped out a vampire girl, as sweet as Halloween. A good friend of the demoness, she too appealed to him greatly. But then came the sugar, spice, and everything nice, and he could not resist. As the sun came up, he ignored all signs of fatigue, even the deepest and drawn out yawn. He would not say goodbye~.

Just yesterday after a live stream, by chance he came upon hololive's pirate queen. They met face-to-face and he said, "Ahoy there! I like what you did with your hair," and then he heard midnight chime on the clock. Suddenly, the other girls he loved surrounded him as Marine's body started shifting. Her whole body changed, her hair turning blonde and the glint in her eye exchanging its lust for mania. The other girls soon followed. Gone was Senchou and the others, and in their place, only Haachama remained.

She skipped half a beat, conversion complete, and gazed straight into his eyes. He could not turn around, and she replied, "Now you see, don'cha? It's all Haachamachama~! The carnie, the dragon, cute doggo, demoness, batgirl, and Marine?" Then, she stopped to contemplate, having seen his devotion firsthand on many different occasions. Deciding that such loyalty ought to be rewarded, she gave him a big predatory smile.

As he trembled, she continued, "Well, that's not completely true. Even I'm actually someone else… Wanna join us? Join hololive, I mean?" All of the Haachamas started transforming once more, this time growing taller, looking more plain, turning more and more into Best Girl, becoming more and more…masculine.

As twisted as the scene before the Kaigai Niki was, it all made perfect sense. He realized how hololive could be an idol group filled mostly with comedians, how it could be unseiso in so many ways. After all, the one behind it all was far from seiso himself.

"W-wait, it's all YAGOO?" Behind him, the unmistakable *click* of a cocked gun sounded out. Frozen in place, the Kaigai Niki simply accepted his fate for seeing through the guise. He went too far for the prize, he saw the truth behind the man's lies, he ruined the surprise, and he knew too much of the man in disguise.

In that unforgettable Japanese voice and tone, the last thing the fan heard was a simple "Hai…"

*BANG*
