It's been a few weeks since Andy had gone back to work. She has been nervous but also excited to be back at the station with her family and husband. Robert has been keeping an extra eye on her since her injury. Robert gets worried anytime she has to go into a burning building, he tries to keep her on aid car. Although Andy doesn't mind it, she wants in on the action. Andy had a hard time adjusting to being back to work, some days were easier than others. She kept replaying what Robert had told her on her first day back to work.
Flashback:
It was Andy's first day back. She and Robert got up and ready for work. Robert went downstairs to make them breakfast and brew some coffee. It was just about ready when he heard what sounded like Andy crying. He hurried upstairs to find Andy wrapped in a towel on the bed upset. Baby, what's wrong? Are you ok? Andy, my love, talk to me. She looked up at him with the saddest eyes, when she finally began to speak, Robert couldn't believe what he was hearing. Robert, I don't know if I can do this. I can't sleep when you're not with me. You have held me and read to me. How can I get through my night not being in your arms? Robert looked at his wife, caressed her cheeks, and said baby if you need me to hold you, read to you, or just to feel safe and not alone, come to my bunk. Our friends know that we are married and I'm sure they already think you sneak into my bunk to sleep. I will do whatever I need to do so that you feel safe. I know what happened to you was scary, hell I was terrified. I don't ever want to lose you. She reached up and grabbed his neck and gave him a passionate kiss, as the kiss grew deeper, Robert heard the oven go off. Baby as much as I'd like to finish this, I don't want our breakfast to burn or start a fire. Why don't you get dressed and come downstairs and eat with me? We have about an hour until we have to leave. Andy shook her head and proceeded to get ready. Once she was ready, she headed downstairs. Breakfast smelled amazing. Robert made cinnamon rolls and eggs with a strawberry banana smoothie. They ate quickly, put their dishes in the dishwasher, and headed out the door for work.
Back to the present:
Valentines Day was in a few days and after the past few months, and Andy's injury Robert wanted to surprise Andy with a date night, but not a date night she would expect. He wanted to have all their friends there with their significant others. Although due to covid still being an issue, he wanted to make a plan. They couldn't really go out to dinner with a big group, so he figured something at their house. Andy was sleeping, so he pulled out his phone and sent out a group text to their friends. "Hey everyone, Valentine's Day is coming up, please join us at our house on Saturday at 4 pm for dinner. Andy doesn't know so keep it on the down-low. I have a surprise for her." Vic replied that she and Theo would be there, she also asked if Robert wanted her to get Andy out of the house for a while for him to set up for the dinner. He quickly said yes, thank you. Maya responded that she and Carina were coming, and offered to make a dish. Travis was next to respond, saying he and Emmett would be there. Ben responded that he and Miranda were coming. Dean replied that he was coming with a date, same with Jack. Robert quickly replied back, see you all Saturday. Robert's dinner plan was in motion. He turned off his phone and laid down next to Andy, he wrapped his arm around her and drifted to sleep.
Robert had woken up before Andy and decided to hop in the shower and get ready for the day. Andy had a doctor's appointment at noon, with Dr. Shepard and Dr. Bailey. Andy also had an appointment scheduled with Carina after. Andy stirred in her sleep and as she rolled over, she heard the shower turn on. As she opened her eyes, she saw her hot husband walking naked in the bathroom and getting into the shower. Once she heard the shower curtain close, she quickly got up and got undressed, and snuck into the bathroom. When she saw Roberts back to her she quietly got in the shower and wrapped her arms around him. As he felt his wife's touch he quickly turned around, and to Andy's surprise she was happy to see how aroused he got at just her touch. It had been a while since they had been intimate with each other. Neither one of them wanted to wait any longer. He pulled Andy in closer and kissed her neck, she let out a moan. He kissed her on the lips and as their kiss grew deeper Andy released some more moans. He picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around his waist, and arms around his neck. He shut the water off and grabbed a towel and wrapped her in it, then took one for himself. They both dried off and got dressed. Andy looked at Robert and just smiled, when he saw her smiling at him, he smiled back.
Valentine's Day:
Robert's phone rang and it was Vic telling him she was out front and to send Andy out. Robert went upstairs to see if she was ready, and to his surprise she was standing in her favorite burgundy dress, with her black heels, and her hair perfectly curled. He was at a loss for words seeing his wife look absolutely stunning. Babe, you look so hot. Andy replied you like what you see? Wait to see what I have in store for you later with the biggest grin on her face. Robert replied back, I can't wait babe, and I wish you didn't have to leave because I would peel you out of that dress. Oh, really she said. Until later my love, Vic is outside in the car waiting for you. He kissed her goodbye, they exchanged I love yous, he told her to have fun and be safe, and smacked her behind as she walked out of the room. Oh you sexy man, you know how to turn me on, but i will see you later. Andy left and once Vic's car pulled away Robert got to work decorating their house. A few hours have passed and the team started to show up, each with their partners or dates. Everyone was there and the last to arrive was Vic and Andy. She still had no clue what he was up to and why he sent her out for a little girls' day. Andy walked into their house and couldn't believe her eyes. Robert had her favorite flowers throughout the house, she smelled steak that he cooked on the grill, and as she walked further in she saw all her friends sitting around the table. Oh my goodness, Robert, you did all this? She ran into his arms and kissed him deeply, once she released him, with tears in her eyes she thanked him and told him how much she loved him. No one had ever gone out of their way to do something so sweet and special for her. Everyone had enjoyed their meal, they helped Robert clean up, and then went back to the table, decided to play a game of charades. They broke into teams as couples. They shared so many laughs, had some drinks, and really enjoyed a fun night. It was about 10:00 pm and everyone decided it was time to head out so Andy and Robert could have some alone time. Once everyone was gone, Andy went upstairs to take her makeup off. Robert took that to his advantage and snuck up the stairs and into their room where he saw Andy standing in the bathroom. He quietly snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her neck. At his touch she tipped her head back, exposing more of her neck to him, she let out a moan. He unzipped her dress, and slid her dress down her shoulders and off her body, and let it hit the ground. To his surprise she was fully naked under her dress. He quickly undressed and picked her up to carry her to the bed. He laid her down and climbed on top of her. He whispered in her ear that practice makes perfect. Flashback:
Robert and Andy were in the waiting room. Dr. Grey walked in to tell Andy she could head back to the exam room. While waiting for Dr. Bailey and Dr. Shepard, Andy and Meredith were discussing the covid vaccine. After Meredith's scary battle with Covid-19, she was ready for the vaccine to come in and be able to get it. Andy and Robert had their anniversary coming up and he wanted to plan a romantic getaway but no one could travel by plane without being vaccinated, so he knew that would be something for them to discuss together. Meredith had headed out because she had a patient. Andy felt a little nervous at what they would tell her, so she had Robert come back with her. Andy's appointment with Dr. Shepard and Dr. Bailey went well, they released her from light duty. Andy was happy to be able to go back to full duty with no more restrictions. Robert looked a little nervous when they told her she was all clear, he still had the image of when she was injured. He knew how much she wanted to be back at work fully, but it also scared him. He didn't want to lose her or see her hurt. She could see the worry in his eyes so she squeezed his hand, and gave him the babe I'm ok look and he just smiled at her. About a half-hour after her follow-up appointment, she had her appointment with Carina. Andy had stopped her birth control two months prior to her accident. She still was unsure if she was fully ready to become a mom, but after conversations about it with her friend Meredith, she came to terms that she could never be like her mother and abandon her child. She and Robert had been trying to get pregnant but we're having trouble, so Andy called Carina her OBGYN to see if she could figure out why they were having a hard time conceiving. So Carina ran many tests to find out what was going on. While they were there, she also ran tests on Robert. After about an hour Carina came in with some answers. Carina had told Andy she had to have a procedure done because one of her fallopian tubes was blocked. Andy thought of the worst, would I be able to still have kids, would Robert leave her if they couldn't have a baby. Then Andy broke down and cried, she didn't want to have another procedure..Robert grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. She looked at him with tears in her eyes. He could see she was scared. Carina gave them some privacy to discuss their options. Carina came back in about 15 minutes later, and Andy and Robert decided to schedule the procedure. They scheduled the procedure for the following week. Andy and Robert left and headed home.
Present:
Andy and Robert were on shift, they were sitting in the beanery with the team discussing the Covid-19 vaccine. They were each on board with getting the vaccine when it became available. Being first responders and coming in close contact at fires, and incidents, and being on aid car, they wanted to protect themselves and help stop the spread. All of sudden the alarm went off, 3 alarm fire, Aid car 19, engine 19, and ladder 19 respond to a hotel fire. When they arrived at the scene the top floors were fully engulfed. Everyone was given their tasks, Maya had Andy checking the lower levels with Travis. She was happy to be off light duty, but once she got inside she froze. Travis looked over and saw Andy just standing there and he ran to her, and couldn't get her to answer him. Travis hopped on the radio and told Maya to get Robert. He heard the call come over and his heart sank, he was worried about his wife. He grabbed his gear and ran in. When he got to Travis and Andy, he grabbed her hand. She wasn't one who got scared easily, but after her injury, something changed her. She finally responded to his touch, he went over the radio to Maya, Captain I'm going to stay with Herrera and Montgomery, there's a lot of floors to cover. Maya knew there was more to that but did not question it, after all, she noticed a change with her friend and knew at that moment Robert is what she needed. The team was there for 6 hours, and they finally got everyone out safely and got the fire out. B-shift was called in to do overhaul. They headed back to the station and Andy quickly and quietly took her gear off and went straight to her bunk. Everyone looked at each other and Robert said ill go check on her. So he quickly went up to her bunk and walked in, he saw her crying on her bed. He went to her and pulled her into his arms. They had been so busy with work, they almost forgot about Andy's procedure the next day. When she calmed down, she said "babe I'm sorry you had to come in for me, I feel so weak and broken. I got scared and I never do. I put you at risk having to come in for me." Robert tilted her head up and said "baby, coming in for you is what i will always do, your my wife, my best friend, my world. After almost losing you a few months ago, I can't go through that again. It's ok to feel scared, you don't have to be strong for me, I got you always and forever. By the time they decided to come out of her bunk everyone was asleep, they were exhausted. They took this opportunity to hop in the shower together, they remembered to lock the door behind them. They couldn't have sex due to Andy's procedure in the morning, so Robert just held her in his arms, he washed her hair like he would do at home, and washed her back. The water started to run cold so they got out. Andy asked Robert to come stay with her for the night, something they normally didn't do while at work, but he knew she was scared so he agreed to stay with her. They headed to bed.
March 2021
Andy has been out of work for the week, her procedure went well, Robert took the week off to take care of her since she was put on bed rest to heal properly. She hated being on bed rest, and wanted to do things for herself, she never depended on anyone to take care of her, but loved that Robert was home with her. She had an appointment with Carina later that day, to have an ultrasound to make sure the blockage was fully gone. Andy was very anxious, she was feeling hopeful. She and Robert talked about kids, even though she was still nervous to know what her mother went through, she knew Robert would help get her through it. Andy decided to hop in the shower to get ready, Robert was downstairs on the phone. Andy took a nice hot, relaxing shower, meanwhile, Robert was making plans for their anniversary. He wanted to surprise Andy, after all, she had been through hell and back in the past year, well they both had been but Robert always puts Andy's happiness ahead of his. About a half-hour later Andy came downstairs. Robert heard her come up behind him, and turned around to wrap her in a hug, he kissed her forehead and asked her if she was almost ready to go. She looked up at him with worried eyes, Robert looked at her and said baby, whatever happens, we will get through this and we will have a family one way or another. They had a quick breakfast, and put their shoes on, and headed out the door. The drive to Grey Sloan was quiet, Robert took Andy's hand in his, planted a kiss on her hand, and she relaxed at his touch. She knew she couldn't get through her appointment without him. When they get to Grey Sloan, they headed in. Andy saw Meredith, the two had grown close and became good friends. Meredith came over and hugged her, and asked how she was feeling. They chatted for a few minutes while Robert checked her in. They were called back right away, for her ultrasound. They were taken to a room to wait for Carina, after the tech finished. About 20 minutes went by and Carina came in. They tried to read her face but with the masks on it made it difficult. She closed the door and sat next to Andy. The look of fear ran through her eyes, Robert grabbed her hand and she squeezed it. Carina spoke after what felt like a lifetime, Andy the procedure worked, give it about another week before you both engage in sexual activity. Andy started to cry, tears of relief and even Robert let a few tears fall. After the appointment, they headed to the station, Robert had to go into work, and Andy didn't want to be alone so she just went in too. They had a few small aid car calls, and Andy went out with Vic on aid car since she wasn't due back at work until tomorrow. Robert had to talk with Maya about his surprise trip since he and Andy would be gone for a few days. Andy had no clue, what he has been secretly planning. Maya was supportive and approved his request for Andy. She knew the pain Andy had gone through.
A few weeks later, Andy and Robert were driving to their surprise, Andy still didn't know where they were going. Since covid was still going on, and they couldn't get on a plane and go exactly where Robert wanted to take her. She looked at Robert and ask, babe where are we going? He looked at her and smiled and replied, baby you will see and love it. They were heading to California, Andy had never been to Disney and he wanted to take her. He dreamed of one day taking their children there. The drive was long but they finally arrived, Andy couldn't believe her eyes. The look on Andy's face told Robert everything, she didn't even have to speak to see the joy and excitement run through her eyes. They went to their resort, checked in, and went to shower and change for dinner. The two got ready and headed to dinner. After dinner, they went back and changed into their swimsuits, and went down and relaxed in the hot tub. Andy sat close to Robert and he held her close. Happy Anniversary baby i love you, he whispered to her. She looked up at him and kissed him, and replied happy anniversary babe i love you too, thank you for this amazing surprise, you are the best. They kissed, and their kiss grew deeper, and Robert knew he wanted to take Andy to their room and make love to his wife. He carried her into their room, laid her on the bed, and untied the sides of her bikini bottoms. He kissed her neck and untied her top. He quickly took his swim trunks off, and climbed on top of her, and slowly inserted himself into her. She let out a moan and arched her back. His touch sent shivers down her spine and sent her into a raging orgasm. Andy moaned louder and called out his name, Robert don't stop. A few weeks passed, Andy and Robert were back to work and shifts had been crazy. They were sitting in the beanery with the team when a call came in. Aid car 19, ladder 19 and engine 19 were dispatched to an orphanage, Andy looked and Robert with worry in her eyes, let's move team. They arrived at the scene, it was fully engulfed. Andy, Robert, Travis, and Vic geared up to head inside, while Ben and Jack were on aid car, Dean and Theo were hitting it from the outside. When they got inside they couldn't see anything, Travis tripped over something only to find out it was the lady who is in charge. She didn't have a pulse, as Travis started to talk, Andy told him to be quiet, she heard a noise and it sounded like a child crying. She followed the sound and Robert went with her, they found two children in cribs, they looked to be about one. Andy quickly picked them both up and looked at Robert and said we need to get them to the aid car. Vic and Travis carried the women out. When they got outside, Andy and Robert to the two little ones to Ben. He gave them a head-to-toe check, the little girl wouldn't let go of Andy, she was scared and crying. Robert went to the little boy and he reached his arms out to Robert, and he picked him up. The two rode to Grey Sloan with the little ones. Neither child would let them go. They arrived at the hospital, where DCFS had met them. Andy didn't want to leave the kids, they had no one. Robert knew that look and he looked at her and nodded, he went out and talked to the lady, and she agreed they could stay with the kids since the kids seemed to be attached to Andy and Robert. When the kids fell asleep, Andy and Robert stepped into the hall. Robert pulled Andy into his arms and hugged her tight, she looked at him and said babe they have no one, we don't know if i will even get pregnant, what if we start the process to adopt them? Robert looked down at his wife and smiled, the two children needed a family, and that's what they decided to do. All of a sudden Andy turned around and ran into the room when the little girl started to cry, she got to the child and said its okay sweetie, your safe, I've got you. A few days passed and the lady from DCFS let Andy and Robert take the two children home until they could finalize the adoption, they would foster them. They had nothing for two children, but their team rallied and got them a lot of what they would need.
A few weeks later, And and Robert were adjusting to having the twins in the house, they were exhausted but were enjoying the time with the kids. They didn't know how much love they could have for them. They had gotten routines down and Dean shared some good babysitters with them since they had to keep working. The next day Andy and Robert got a call, they needed to sign the papers to finalize the adoption. He noticed Andy wasn't acting like herself, the kids were down for their nap, so he went up to check on her. When he got upstairs he found her in the bathroom throwing up. Baby are you okay, as he went to her side to hold her hair back. Babe something is wrong, I'm nauseous, can't stop throwing up, and I'm exhausted. Robert called Vic and she came right over right away to stay with the twins. He helped Andy up and took her to see Meredith and Bailey. When they got there, they put Andy in a room, took blood and urine, and ran tests. They gave her some anti-nausea meds so she could rest. She knew Robert got a call earlier so she asked who called. He was so worried about her he almost forgot the DCFS lady called. It was Barb from DCFS saying we just have to sign the paper she sent over and the adoption is finalized. Andy smiled and said babe were parents. About an hour later Meredith walked in and following her was Carina. Robert looked at them confused as to why Carina was there. He grabbed Andy's hand as Carina spoke. Andy you're pregnant! You're about 10 weeks along. Andy and Robert both had tears in their eyes. They already had two children in their home, and they were excited to grow their family and add a new bundle of joy! They couldn't believe the news they just received but they felt nothing but love and joy! Meredith congratulated the couple and went to get their discharge papers. They couldn't wait to go home and call the team to share the big news. Robert looked at Andy and told her how much he loved her, and she replied I love you so much Robert!
