I decided to try my hand at Yu-Gi-Oh though I need some help designing my OC Yu-Gi-Oh cards appearance. I will be using the anime effects for some cards. I also modded the "Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon" effect so it only uses one Overlay unit instead of two and it's permanent. Now this is during the first season, but the OC is in a different city. I was inspired by a fanfic called "Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal: Invasion of the Barians" by tigerkim1027 and my own love for the "Phantom Knights" series and the "Xyz Dragon" cards.
It was Sunday in Spadeland City, and our protagonist is in a graveyard paying his respects to his dead mother who died due to cancer one month ago.
He looks like a Shiro Emiya with silver eyes, the same hair style as Z-ARC from Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V with black replacing the white colored hair and silver replacing the green colored hair, and was wearing the same clothes as Yuto from Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V. He was also wearing a scarf like the scarf Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail wears with the white changed to black and the black changed to silver. His name is Shotaro Hino.
"Mom I miss you. Dad isn't the same anymore and I'm not doing so well either. I feel like I'm in a pit where I can't see because there is no light, nor can I climb out of there. I feel so lost without you here." Shotaro confessed looking at his mother's picture. A card covered in purple light falls in front of him and lands on the ground. Shotaro picks it up.
"A Duel Monsters card?" Shotaro said as the light faded away to reveal a Xyz Monster card.
"Number 98: Antitopian?" He said.
"Interesting effects and good ATK and DEF. I think I'll keep it and add it to my Deck." He said as he places the card in his Extra Deck. After spending a few more minutes there he left and went home since he has school tomorrow.
Next day.
Shotaro was eating lunch outside by himself when he saw the local bully Gendo Akiyama picking on some of the younger students. Shotaro then saw him trying to take their cards. Shotaro puts away his lunch and runs over there.
"Hey fourth-rate duelist! How about you pick on someone your own size!" Shotaro insulted him. Gendo growls but then smirks at Shotaro.
"Well, what do we have here? The crybaby loser. Why don't you go home to mommy? Oh, wait you can't! She's dead!" Gendo said sadistically. Shotaro flinched at that but decided to make a comeback.
"How about you shut up and put your Deck where your mouth is!" Shotaro called him out. Gendo smirks.
"Why not. This could be the perfect opportunity to try out my new card." He said. Both of them brought out their D-Pads. Gendo's D-Pad was a standard one colored black while Shotaro's had a blade like the Chaos Duel Disk and was colored black and silver.
"Duel Gazers set!" They both said as they put on their respective Duel Gazers. Gendo's was a standard male Duel Gazer while Shotaro's Duel Gazer covered both his eyes and was black and silver colored.

"I'll start. Draw!" Gendo said as he drew.
"I'll discard Archfiend General so I can add Pandemonium from my deck to my hand and then I'll play it. Next I Summon Archfiend Soldier and end my turn with 2 face downs." Gendo said as he ends his turn.

"I'll Summon The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak and since there is a Phantom Knights monster on my field, I can Special Summon The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots." Shotaro said as the two monsters appear.

"Now I Overlay my 2 monsters to build the Overlay Network." Shotaro said as the vortex appear as the two monsters turn into purple energy and went into the vortex.
"Souls of knights who fell on the battlefield. Revive here and now and become the light that breaks the darkness! Xyz Summon! Appear, Rank 3, The Phantom Knights of Break Sword!" Shotaro chanted as the new monster appears.

Next, I'll play Phantom Knights' Spear, but it won't be around for long. I activate Break Sword's ability. By using one Overlay unit I can destroy one card on my side of the field and then I can destroy one card on your side. I destroy Phantom Knights' Spear to destroy the face down on the left." Said as one of Break Sword's Overlay Units were absorbed by its sword and then 2 energy bolts struck the mentioned cards and destroyed them.
"Battle! I attack Archfiend Soldier with Break Sword." Shotaro said as Break Sword attacks and destroys Archfiend Soldier.
"I activate Pandemonium's effect! I'll add Desrook Archfiend to my hand." Gendo said as he added the card to his hand.
"I'll end my battle phase and I'll place 2 cards facedown and activate Mirage of Nightmare." Shotaro said.
"I end my turn."

"Now I can toss Mirage of Nightmare and gain 1000 LP." Shotaro said as not only did he draw 4 new cards but gain more LP.
"Like that will help you. I play Pot of Greed. Now I can draw 2 new cards. Then I activate Monster Reborn to bring Archfiend General to the field. Next I summon Archfiend Cavalry and equip it with Axe of Despair." Gendo said.

"Battle! General attacks Break Sword!" Gendo said as Archfiend General went to attack Break Sword.
"I activate my face down! Mirror Force! Now both your monsters are destroyed." Shotaro said as both Gendo's monsters were destroyed but thanks to Pandemonium Gendo added another Desrook Archfiend to his hand.
"I activate my own face down! Call of the Haunted to bring General back and have it attack Break Sword." Gendo said as Archfiend General came back and destroys Break Sword.
"Break Sword's ability activates! I can bring back Cloak and Boots to the field with their Levels increase by 1." Shotaro said as the 2 monsters came back.

"Formed from pitch-black darkness, to fight those foolish enough to oppose it with its treacherous fangs! Now, descend! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!" Shotaro chanted as his Ace monster appears.

"Battle! Helm will attack General!" Shotaro said as Helm went to attack General.
"Unless! I activate Mirror Force! Now both your monsters are destroyed!" Gendo yelled out as Mirror Force destroys both monsters.
"No! Dark Rebellion and Helm! Tch, I end my battle phase and I play Monster Reborn to bring back Dark Rebellion in ATK Mode. I then banish Boots and Cloak to add The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine and The Phantom Knights of Fragile Armor to my hand. I then place 3 cards face downs. I end my turn," Shotaro said.

"Good. A 5. Now say goodbye to Dark Rebellion!" Gendo said as he starts laughing crazy.
"No Dark Rebellion!" Shotaro said as Dark Rebellion was destroyed again.
"Unfortunately, Crazy Boz can't attack so I'll place 2 more face downs and end my turn with that." Gendo said,
"Hold it! I activate one of my face downs! Heavy Storm Duster and use it to destroy your 2 new face downs!" Shotaro said as his trap destroys of Gendo's new face downs.
"Tch! Oh well. Struggle all you want. In the end it won't matter." Gendo said with an evil smirk.

"Nice try! Thanks to Phantom Knights' Wing the first time Antitopian would be destroyed, it's not! Now Antitopian Rising Eclipse Slash!" Shotaro said as Antitopian slashes Crazy Box destroying it.

"It can! Dark Rebellion lets finish this! Revolt of the Lightning! Disobey!" Shotaro yelled out as Dark Rebellion charges lightning in its chin blades and strikes Gendo.

Gendo was knocked out by the attack as his Number card starts glowing purple. Shotaro was in a trance as he raises his right hand up as the Number was then pull towards him. He grabs it and comes out of the trance.
"Huh what happened? Wait was this card in my hand?" Shotaro questioned as he looks at the card in his hand.
"Number 85: Crazy Box?! How did it get in my hand?!" Shotaro shouted confused.
