Lyni was sitting in her office looking at her data pad making notes on places to clear up or underline in order to make the Equality Bill better. It was getting much better, although there was still a lot of work to be done. Not even when she finished what it likely to get though with so many people who benefited from slavery. Picking up her dictionary she tried to decide on the best wording for the latest sentence she was revising and silently cursed her lack of education that made the dictionary necessary.
That lack of education was why she was chosen to write this bill, and part of the reason why she was determined to succeed. Senator Churchi and Senator Amiadala were kind enough to offer to read it over for her, and Miss Fari found the old dictionary in the things that the Senator had brought from Pandora before giving it to Lyni. She said it was brought to help Riyo but that Lyni should have an equal chance. Lyni knew that was a lie, but accepted the gift gratefully.
A chime from her datapad brought Lyni out of that thought process as she checked what made it. It took a few minutes, but she found it. A private message to her and Senator Amidala from Senator Churchi. That's strange.
Opening it as carefully as she would approach a Sparkfly nest, Lyni scanned the message. Then went back to read it though carefully. It took two more times for the meaning to really sink in:
Padme and Lyni,
I was wondering if you two would like to meet Ilonia and myself for lunch at the Broken Horn. We were thinking of going at twelve thirty, but if that doesn't work for you we are more than happy to adjust. Hope to see you both soon.
-Riyo
Lyni stared at the words. They had invited her. As if she mattered. What?
Savage got off the couch where he was sitting to keep watch on matters and walked over to her, "What is it Lyni?" She showed him the 'pad mutely and he squeezed her shoulder. "Are you going to go?"
Looking up at him, "I would like to go, and try it out." Watching him closely to judge the likelihood of it.
Nodding slightly, "Should we check it out first?"
Lyni nodded in return, "Just to make sure." He kissed her head and left as she typed her acceptance of the lunch and sent it. Then looked at the bill again, just a quick read through before heading out.
