It was about that time of the year again. Last night, her trainer had come along to inform her that he was gonna travel to a new region again. This little tradition of theirs started about three years ago the night before Ash left for Johto. Pidgeot had been woken up by the familiar, and oh so satisfying, sound of Team Rocket being blasted off into the night. A sure fire sign that her trainer had returned.
She knew that they were probably busy looking over the GS Ball her trainer had mentioned them getting and that he was probably tired, so she figured he would show up to visit the next day. As she thought this, however, there was a flash of light and a little grass colored pixie showed up. This Pokemon called itself Celebi and told her that she should go visit her trainer immediately. She also mentioned something about correcting a mistake, owing Ash a favor, and helping out some Pokemon named something-ninja and Zy-whatever. Regardless, Celebi promised to help guard her nest while she went to get her trainer. Her flock promised that they could handle the situation if Celebi did anything suspicious. So, reluctantly, she flew off to see her trainer.
And it was a good thing she did too. Apparently, Ash and his friends had to travel to Johto to deliver the GS ball to some Pokeball expert and to compete in the Johto league. Between that and all the Chaos that happened that day (including but not limited to: two Team Rocket attacks, attempting to analyze the GS Ball, and a battle against Gary,) her oblivious trainer might have been long gone before his brain had a chance to remember. She would've been offended had she not already had enough experience with Ash to know this was a genuine mistake, and if he hadn't apologized for it profusely. Ash had offered to let Pidgeot participate in Ash's first Gym battle in Johto to make up for this near miss. Unfortunately, she had other obligations.
Pidgeot looked over to the group of Pidgey resting in the branches. While Ash had been busy collecting badges for the Orange League, she and a male Pidgeot, who had recently evolved, had been busy as well. The end result was that by the time Ash had gotten back, Pidgeot already had a nest full of Pokemon eggs to take care of. Ash had understood and left for Johto without her. From then on, whenever Ash would go to a new region, he would come to her the night before and talk with her. During the time Ash spent in Johto, many of the Pidgeotto had evolved and become strong enough that the flock could defend themselves just fine.
Unfortunately, she still had to take care of and train her hatch-lings when he went to Hoenn. And by the time her children were strong enough to somewhat pull their own weight, Ash had already found that starting over with just Pikachu whenever he went to a new region worked best for him. She opted to stay with her mate and kids rather than at Oak's lab due to this, thinking she wouldn't be battling with him again anyway. This turned out to be a mistake since she later heard that unlike with the Hoenn league, Ash had used Pokemon from his past adventures in the Sinnoh league. She'd once again missed her chance to battle again at her trainer's side, which frustrated her to no end.
'This time, though.' She thought. This time, she intended to compete with Ash in the Unova league, no matter what. She looked to her right at her mate. He looked back and nodded. The kids did the same, assuring her that they could handle things on their own. Looking down, she spotted the small, marble-like rock laying in the corner. Celebi had left it in her nest after guarding it. Pidgeot couldn't quite put it to words, but that brown, red striped rock gave her a good feeling. It just felt like it resonated with her, so she kept it as a sort of good luck charm. Her mate and kids managed to use grass and other plant stems to craft it into what humans call a necklace for her to easily wear around her neck.
Putting it on, she went over to Professor Oak's lab, her intention was to train with Ash's other Pokemon. She'd heard about Ash's other flying types like Swellow and Staraptor. How they were supposedly strong aerial battlers. Well she'd be the judge of that. She hadn't spent the last three years relaxing. She'd spent it training with the other members of her flock and battling Fearow and his gang. The two flocks had actually formed an intense rivalry with each other, everyone on both sides trying to get stronger so their side could one up the other. All that experience really showed in how she fought and she was confident that she could compete with the best of Ash's flyers.
As she flew to the Professor's house, she decided to seek out Bulbasaur first. He was one of the few Pokemon Pidgeot was familiar with. And as the Pokemon with the most seniority, he would be able to introduce her to the others. When she found him though, it looked as if he was looking for something. She looked around to see many of the other Pokemon doing the same thing.
'Hey, Bulbasaur.' She said in Pokemon speak, getting his attention.
'Hmm? Oh! Pidgeot!' Bulbasaur perked up. 'I haven't seen you in a while. How're you doing?'
'Pretty good. I heard Ash had gone to a new region again. I didn't want to miss it this time so I decided to come over so I could be ready. So what's going on here?'
'We're looking for Gible.' the Seed Pokemon answered. 'He didn't show up for breakfast today. We're kind of worried he'll get himself into trouble. Again.'
Meanwhile with Gible
It could do this. All it had to do was resist the urge to tear the bag apart until the plane landed. It wasn't strong enough yet, but if it traveled with Ash through this Unova region, he might be able to get stronger. Then he'd evolve, fight against that wavy haired guy again, beat his wierd ghost thing, beat all his other Pokemon, then beat that Blond haired girl's Garchop. Then he'd be the strongest dragon type, and be just as cool as that blonde girl's Garchomp. All he had to do, was resist biting through the bag until he was on the plane.
