Chapter 58: The Wedding Part 2
I woke up with Sue shaking lightly on my shoulder. I looked at her drowsily, and she had a bright smile on her face. She said, "Hi sweetie. Today is your big day."
I croaked, "Yeah."
She said, "I made breakfast, and I thought I would bring them to you, to give you more chances to relax and stay seated. You are going to be standing for long periods of time today."
I replied, "Oh, thanks Sue. I appreciate that a lot."
She helped me get up so that I would be leaning against the bedrest with a pillow on my back. She placed a crate on my lap, and I dig in. She left to give me space to eat in peace, and I appreciated it that. It would've been awkward if she stayed in the room with me. I moved the crate to my side and stretched. The nightgown that Sue lend to me, it was tight on the waist, and I felt my belly heavier today. I sighed. Even if I have the pregnancy support band, I will need to carry partially my belly to walk around today. I am glad I am having my wedding before it gets too much to walk around and be placed on bedrest. I stared myself at the mirror in the guest room.
Wow. I am getting married today.
I heard a knock on the door, and Sue and Leah walked in. Leah was dressed in the bridesmaid dress that we both agreed for her to wear. I didn't want Leah to be forced to wear a dress that clearly doesn't suit her. Not only that, I wanted Leah to be able to wear a dress that she would be able to use it in other occasions too, and she said she is going to wear the dress when she graduate from college and one day, in a date with Jake. It made me feel better for Leah to go personally buy a dress just to help me get to have my wedding. Since it was a small wedding, I didn't want her to spend too much money on a dress either, but she convinced me otherwise that it was fine, so I gave in when we talked about it yesterday. I don't know how she was able to find a dress so soon, but I am not going to think too much on it. Since we are doing the wedding in the woods, we agreed for Leah to wear a forest green sleeveless off-the-shoulder long dress. It snugged her figure, and she simply looked amazing. I cannot wait to see what Jacob is going to say when he sees her.
Leah had my wedding gown on her hand while Sue had my veil and a bag. It looked like a huge makeup bag. I looked at her curiously and she asked politely, "would it be alright if I help you get ready?"
I smiled gratefully, "Of course, Sue. I would like that very much."
Leah closed the door behind her as Sue helped me to put my gown on. She put the band on me before she put on my wedding gown.
She sighed in relief, "I am glad to see you don't see the band through your dress".
She also helped to put my overskirt, and she made me sit down as she put make up on my face. Leah helped with putting my hair in a low messy bun with few strands of my curly hair left in front of my hair. She wrapped my hair with the hair ornament and attached the veil at the back. Once I was done, she helped me get up from my seat, and I was simply amazed of how I looked. I slowly twirled myself around, and I couldn't help but have tears building up in my eyes.
Sue asked quietly, "What's wrong sweetie? You don't like it?"
I said quickly, "No, I love it. It's-It's just that.."
She finished my train of thought in understanding, "It's just that you wished your family were here, right?"
I nodded mutely, and I said wistfully, "Even though..the relationship between my mother and I weren't great, I still wished for my mom and my closest girlfriends to get me ready to walk down the aisle."
She turned my shoulder so that I would be looking at her, and she said empathically, "I..may not be able to replace the family that you lost, but I am here for you darling. You deserved what other girls will have. That is why I took the pleasure to help you to get the closest experience that you wished you had. Its..not much in comparison to how much you have helped me, my children and the council, but I am here for you."
I said with thick emotion in my voice, "Thank you, Sue. I truly appreciate how much you have helped me to have my wedding experience..I..don't have my mom, but you are the closest thing to a mom. .so thank you."
She had tears in her eyes, and she gave me a tight hug. Then, Leah said, "alright, no more tears. Time for you to start heading, Ale."
I glanced at Leah, and she had a small smile. I knew she wasn't saying that because she is being uncomfortable with emotions, but she knew that if I kept on hugging, I would've start bawling. She wanted me to wait after the wedding ceremony. I nodded and I put on white flats. I am not going to be wearing heels while pregnant. I don't know how other brides can do it, but I won't even attempt that. I want to be comfortable and as I get more further along in my pregnancy, the more I want to be comfortable.
When I got out of the house, I noticed that there were long tables with beautiful decorations on the table. After we will have the ceremony in the woods, we are going to have the reception in Sue's backyard. There were white chairs and tables decorated with white lace and plastic purple plum wisteria flower with white rose and silver beads. I saw at the driveway; my car was parked. It seemed like Leah and the guys decorated the car with white balloons at the back of the car with white and silver lace trailing from the trunk. There was a cute sign that said, "Just Married" from the back as well. I couldn't help but smile from the obvious sign of effort that was placed in the decorations.
From what I was told, the others already left to meet us at the wedding. Seth went to take Sue to the woods as well. Everyone was literally waiting on the bride to show up, so Leah escorted me to the car, and when I got in, Jacob was in the car as well. He had a short white button shirt with black pants and black shoes. This is the most dressed that I had seen Jacob in. It was even better from how he dressed when he showed up out of nowhere at Bella's spring dance. When I saw him, I smiled, and he smiled brightly at me. He said with his sunny smile, "you look great, Ale."
I said shyly, "thanks."
I had my hands laid on top of my pregnant belly while I was letting my mind wander. As I was getting heavier, the more I had to sit with my legs a little wide. Good thing I bough this dress in mind that it would fit a bigger wider version of me. I couldn't help but be anxious. I never thought I would get married, especially heavily pregnant, but I have no regrets.
It wasn't even 15 minutes when Leah finally stopped. Jacob got out of the car first to help me get out. When we walked out of the car, we were immediately facing the woods, but it seemed like a path was paved so it was easy for everyone to walk through it. Leah went ahead, leaving Jacob walking by my side. Before Leah left, she gave me my flower bouquet to hold, so I knew the moment I get to the wedding ceremony, I will be walking down the aisle. I finally heard the wedding marching band played and I gasped.
It was beautiful.
There was an arch of tree branches twisted with white plastic roses at the front where Paul was standing there waiting to meet me. Jared was next to him. Paul and Jared were wearing the same clothes that Jacob was wearing, but the only difference was that Paul was wearing a dark purple tie. There were a row of white chairs at each side of the aisle. In the middle of the aisle, pedals of white roses were thrown all over the aisle. The chairs were decorated the same as the ones found at the wedding reception that we are going to have at Sue's backyard. The girls were at the bride side, and the guys were at groom side. Leah was also waiting for me there, and she gave me a genuine happy smile.
The moment I locked eyes with Paul. It was like we imprinted again. I felt the intensity of Paul's love for me, and I expressed my deep love and adoration back to Paul. It was like the first time he ever saw me, and he had such a big happy grin in his face. I bit my lips to hold myself back from crying.
Wow. Now, I get why the moment the couple lock eyes, one or both starts crying. They can't comprehend how beautiful their loved one looks in their wedding outfit. Paul just looked so dashing, and the shirt. Gosh, it just brought his bulging muscles more obvious. As Jacob walked me down the aisle, everyone got up to look at me with the wedding march being played. Kim and Emily saw me, and they had their mouth wide opened. Everyone else simply stood and bow when I passed by them. Once I got to the front, Jacob gave me to Paul and Paul nodded gratefully to Jacob as Jacob went to his seat. Old Quil was in the front. He first spoke in Quileute as Leah was whispering next to me in English, translating what he was saying.
I wanted the wedding to be a mixture of both of our cultures, so I didn't mind if Old Quil spoke in Quileute. As long as I get it in English, I am good to go. He blessed us in Quileute with Seth coming behind us to give us the wedding rings. Then, Old Quil pronounced us husband and wife with Paul passionately kissing me on the lips. Old Quil chuckled from Paul's eagerness with the rest of the pack whistling and clapping for us. I heard clicking of pictures being taken, and when I turned toward the direction of the sound, it was Embry who was taking the pictures. He smiled sheepishly to me, and Paul whispered to my ear, "Embry is into photography, and he wanted to make up for what he did by taking our wedding pictures for free."
I smiled. Aw, that was nice of Embry to do that. We walked down the aisle and some of the guys were throwing rice over our head, and I laughed. I didn't think they would even do that, but I am glad we wouldn't need to clean up since we are in the woods. Paul helped me get on the passenger seat, and Paul went on the driver seat of my car and drove back to Sue's place. Before he drove off, I saw Leah and Jacob talking and ordering the guys to help pack up. It was nice to see how natural both Leah and Jacob were working together. I don't see them being as awkward as they used to be when they first imprinted. Leah has come a long way with Jacob, and I am happy for her.
Once we got to Sue's place, there was a table full of food with a three-tier wedding cake at the end of the table. Sue hand motioned us to get close. The cake was beautiful. It had designs of flowers, and swirls all over it. It wasn't heavily decorated nor simple. I asked Sue, "who baked the cake?"
She said with a smile, "Emily baked the cake. It's great, isn't it?"
I nodded. Paul was behind me, and he let me lean against him for back support. Standing for long period of time was slowly getting to me. The babies are getting really heavy to carry, so I can see why now by tomorrow, I would need to be placed on bedrest. Sue asked me with a concerned expression, "Are you okay, honey? Do you need to sit down?"
I shook my head, "I am a little tired with standing, but I am okay. I can stand for a little longer."
Paul said, "No" as he pulled one of the white chairs and made me sit down. Everyone gathered as I got up to cut the cake together with Paul. We hooked our arms together to feed each other the piece of chocolate cake. It was so moist and sweet. I loved it. It had chocolate chips in it which made it more moist to bite into it. The guys cheered and the girls clapped as we fed each other a piece of it. I thought it was a bit cheesy to do, but it was Paul who suggested it with an excited smile, so I couldn't deny Paul of that. At the end, it was still fun to do.
Sue shouted, "Food is ready. Let's eat!"
I stayed seated in my chair as Paul went to grab both of us to eat. Everyone lined up in a buffet-style to pick up their plate. I got up to go sit at a separate table with an white decorated bench that had a label said "Mr. and Mrs. Lahote."
Apparently, Sue got someone from the Rez to cater for us without asking too many questions. We ate pasta with garlic bread, and it was delicious. Paul ate three plates of it while I ate two. I stuffed. Paul rubbed my belly and asked, "Are you guys full?"
I said, "Yup." I patted my belly and said, "the pups are definitely sleeping now from the food coma."
Paul laughed and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I don't know who it was, but someone started playing music and everyone started to dance. I encouraged Paul to go have fun with his pack brothers, and don't worry too much about me. With great reluctance, Paul finally let me alone.
Billy rolled up to me, and he was dressed in a worn-out suit. He said smiling, "congratulations, Ale."
I replied, "thank you, Billy."
He said thoughtfully, "you look astonishing, and you are simply glowing, Ale. I can see how happy you and Paul are together. The spirits truly paired you guys as the perfect mate for each other."
I nodded and said, "I agree..In the beginning, I didn't understand why the spirits chose me to be Paul's mate. I felt undeserving, but ironically Paul felt the same too. The more we spend time together, the more I understood why Paul's wolf chose me over Rachel and why the spirits offered me to Paul..Paul..he is the best mate that anyone can ask for. He is so attentive, passionate, and loving. Even with his rough edges, I won't trade him for anyone or anything. No one can replace Paul. He helps me be comfortable with myself, and I saw how mature Paul has become being around me too. We both made each other grow, and I can't wait to see how much more we will grow and mature as individuals."
Billy nodded, and he looked at my pregnant belly with a wistful, teary look. He said, "I remembered when..my late wife was pregnant with both Rebecca and Rachel.." He chuckled deeply, "they were very active in their mother's womb, and they used to give her many bruises. It was a rough pregnancy, but once they were born, it was all worth it..That is why, hang in there..I know this has been a very interesting and spontaneous pregnancy for you, but I promise you, once you have your babies in your arms, you'll see that it was all worth it."
I said, "..thank you Billy for your wisdom. I'll keep that in mind."
He nodded, and he saw that Leah was coming toward me. He gave me a wink and said, "I think its my time to go. Hope you enjoy your wedding day, Ale. See you later."
I waved him goodbye as Leah came up next me, pulled out a chair and sat next to me.
I told her, "I don't know how you and your mom did it, but this is great…Thank you, Leah."
She was drinking a shot of wine, and she winked at me before saying, "of course, chickee. Like I told you, we got connections and we got you girl. You'll get the wedding that you deserved. Was there anything that wasn't to your liking?"
I shook my head, "No, Leah. You guys did a lot more than I expected. Not saying I had low expectations, but I didn't think you guys would be able to get so many things done in three days."
She said, "Not going to lie, it was a lot, but I enjoyed it."
I nodded, and I asked, "how much did all of this cost?"
She thought about it and said, "hmm. It was probably $300?"
I exclaimed, "really? It seemed like the wedding ceremony and the reception cost more than that."
She shook her head and said, "nah, it was because many of the things that you have seen, it was from previous weddings. People that my mom know were nice enough to lend it to us."
I said in realization, "Oh, I see."
She nodded, "Yup."
I said teasingly, "So, what did Jacob say about the dress?"
She chuckled lowly and said, "Oh, he liked it. His wolf came to the front for a good awhile when they first saw me. He stammered in his compliment to me."
I laughed. Ah, Jacob. I am glad Leah took that pretty well instead of rolling her eyes from Jacob being his awkward self, but at least he acknowledged it. As if Jacob heard us talking about us, he came up to me. Grinning ear to ear, he said teasingly, "Hi, ."
I replied teasingly back, "Hi , anything I can do for you?"
With a happy glint to his warm, brown eyes and his hand stretched to me, he said, "Yup. May I take your hand to a dance as your Alpha?"
Oh. That is interesting. Leah didn't seem to care, but I wanted to make sure with Paul before accepting Jacob's request. I glanced to where the rest of the guys were, and I made eye contact with Paul. He was sweating from partying. He gave me a questioning glance, and I looked back at Jacob then to Paul. Paul understood what I was asking, so he gave me a nod.
I took that as an okay from Paul, so I took Jacob's hand. Suddenly, someone changed the music to a soft melody. I thought it would be awkward with dancing with Jacob as my pregnant belly is in the way, however Jacob is tall and he had long arms, so we were able to dance a little in a sway. I had one hand cradling the bottom of my belly with another hand holding onto Jacob's upper arm.
I asked, "How come you asked me for a dance? I appreciate it and I find it sweet of you, but why?"
He said softly, "because you wouldn't be able to have a father-daughter's dance and I walked you down in the aisle, I thought it would be fitting for me to give you a dance..I can't replace it, but I want to give you the closest thing to it."
Oh, now that got me to the feels..That's right..My dad would never be able to dance with me in my wedding. I am no longer in my world even if I die, I still would not be able to return to my world. I said with thick emotion in my voice, "thanks, Jacob..you're too sweet."
He said with a small smile, "Sure, sure."
Paul tapped to Jacob's arm, and asked with a low bow, "Can I have my wife, Alpha?"
Jacob said, "Of course" as he gave my hand to Paul. I was now dancing with my husband. He was slightly sweaty from dancing hard, but he still had the same loving gaze that he first saw me when I walked down the aisle.
He said, "You're so beautiful."
I blushed bashfully and said, "you look so dashing yourself, carino."
He nudged me to turn around with him dancing behind me. We were swaying together in sync with the soft instrumental music that was being played. He asked, "how are you and the pups doing?"
I replied, "we are doing okay. I am pretty surprise that they haven't been active today, which is great, it gave me more energy to stand around than usual."
He hummed and said, "I'm happy that you are happy, hon."
I said, "me, too."
We just stayed in that position for few minutes until he said, "Do you want to go back home? I don't want to tire you out before what we are going to do tonight."
I said in delight, "I would like that. Would that be fine? I feel pretty bad, leaving the others to clean up the mess for us."
He said, "No, its fine. Sam, Emily, Seth and Jared volunterred to clean up for us. It is your wedding. You are in no condition to worry about cleaning up."
I said, "Okay."
As if the guys heard our conversation, they started packing up. Paul and I walked toward the front of Sue's house. Both Jacob and Leah were waiting for us by our car. Once we met up to them, I pulled Leah into a hug and said, "thank you so much for everything."
She gave me a quick hug in return and said, "like I said, not a problem."
I gave a grateful smile to Leah, and Paul gave his thanks to Jacob. Jacob simply nodded his head to Paul while Paul escorted me to our car. Paul got inside the car and held my hand tightly as he turned on the car. Leah and Jacob waved us goodbye, and I was waving them goodbye through the window as Paul drove us away.
