Chapter 68: Charlie?

Third's POV:

The moment Ale passed out in Paul's arms, Sue pulled baby Evangeline out. Sue immediately cleaned her up, and everyone was able to hear her cry powerfully. Her cry was louder than her older two brothers. She had the russet skin color and black hair of her father, and she had the thick luxurious hair from her mother. She was few ounces smaller than the other two, but nevertheless she was a strong fighter.

Paul said proudly, "Evangeline Kopat Lahote."

He still had Ale in his arms while Sue was taking the placenta out of Ale's womb. Ale was able to deliver the placenta well, and thankfully she didn't experience any bleeding nor tear. Sue told Paul, "your mate is fine, Paul. She is just exhausted. I already delivered the placentas and wrapped her up. Let her rest, and Paul, she'll need you more than ever for the next few days. The delivery wiped Ale out, so she will need your help to take care of these babies."

Paul nodded, "we'll take care of her. It seemed like she foresaw this maybe a possibility, so she pumped bottles of breastmilk for the pups a day before. We can start feeding them now."

Sue nodded as Seth went to the kitchen to bring the bottles. Paul gently picked up Ale while Leah got started on changing the bedsheets from the birth. Paul put her down, wiped her body, and put a nightgown for her. He placed the baby-making blanket on top of her and let Ale rest. Her heavily pregnant belly deflated, but there is still a bump.

Paul's wolf spirit whispered We'll need to help mate to lose the stretch marks as her stomach goes back to normal. Paul nodded internally to his wolf.

When Seth came back, he gave a bottle to Sue and Paul to start feeding the babies. Paul looked down to the crib and stared Mateo in awe. He hesitantly went to pick up Mateo and lift him up. Sue put a light green bodysuit on him, making him look quite adorable. Mateo started to cry. Paul then placed Mateo on his chest and started rocking him slowly, purring lowly to quite Mateo down. Paul murmured, "I'll nickname you, Mat. I don't think your mom wouldn't mind."

Paul nuzzled Mat, licked his hair before placing Mat in his arms to start feeding him. Mat was very eager to eat and suck with all of his might that Paul chuckled lowly. As in for Seth, he was smiling brightly at Evangeline as he was feeding her. He turned to his Mom, and he asked, "Am I feeding her right?"

Sue nodded confidently to Seth with a small smile. She was feeding Lucas and was cooeing to him. She said to Paul, "you and Ale made pretty babies."

Paul responded, "oh, yes. I can definitely see Lucas breaking a lot of girl's hearts, and..I can see many guys trying to get to my Evangeline..I'll have to scare them away..sigh."

Sue chuckled lightly, and Leah snorted as she watched the babies with curious eyes. Seth turned to Leah and asked, "do you want to hold her?"

Leah looked at Paul for confirmation, and Paul nodded, so Leah hesitantly grabbed Evangeline to her. Evangeline cried when she wasn't drinking her bottle, and Leah panicked. Sue said gently, "it's okay, Leah. Give her the bottle, and she'll be fine."

Leah slowly placed the bottle to Evangeline's mouth, and she sucked eagerly. As she drank, Leah watched her carefully. She thought to herself this is going to be me in the future.

Sue couldn't help but get teary when she saw how Leah was interacting with Evangeline. She never thought that she would get to see Leah smiling softly to a baby and if Leah realizes it or not, excited to be a mother once Leah experiences her heat during mating season.

With Paul, Mateo finished drinking his milk, so Paul was burping him. Mat threw up a little on Paul's shoulder, and Paul said, "ah shit. I think I pat his back a little too much."

Sue said gently, "it's fine Paul. You are doing great as a first-time parent. With practice, you'll get the hang of it."

Paul nodded uneasily, and he carried Mateo to the kitchen, so Paul can grab a paper towel to clean himself up, Suddenly, Paul froze and turned to the doorway.

There stood a confused Charlie by the doorway. Because the babies were recently born and his mate is still unconscious, Paul and his wolf spirit are more territorial, protective, and on the edge than usual. Paul growled loudly at Charlie, and Charlie had his hand itching to his gun. Seth and Leah immediately went out to see what the commotion was along with Sue following behind them. Sue looked at Paul with a confused expression and when she saw Charlie, she gasped.

Charlie glanced with wide eyes to Sue and asked, "uh..whose babies are these?"

Paul's shoulder tensed up and with glowing silver eyes, he snarled at Charlie. Charlie looked at Paul with terrified brown eyes with his mustache twitching, sweat building on his forehead, and his hand was on the gun.

Mateo, Evangeline, and Lucas all started to cry in union when they heard Paul's snarl. Paul snarled loudly, "get the fuck away, now"

Leah rebuked Paul, "Paul, it's Charlie!"

He had his teeth barred at Leah, and he said growling, "He is in my territory, and he needs to leave now or else I will do something that I will definitely regret later on."

Sue understood immediately of the situation. She passed Lucas to Leah and pushed Charlie out the door to his police cruiser. Charlie glanced back at Paul with a confused and terrified expression as he told Sue, " did you see that?"

Sue said tiredly, "yes, yes I know… I'll explain it all to you in a bit. Let's go to Billy's place..There is something that we need to tell you that we should've told you long time ago."

Charlie said confusingly, "okay..?" as he got on to the police cruiser.

Sue got on the back of the car, and she asked, "How come you showed up here Charlie? It's very unlike you."

He said sheepishly, "I-I came to surprise you at home, but you weren't there. I got worried because I noticed from the state of the house, it looked like you left in a hurry. Knowing that you were off this weekend, I was confused. I asked the next door neighor, and they said that they heard Leah shouting we need to get to Paul's place when you guys left the house. I thought..something serious has happened, so I came by to check, but I..wasn't expecting this."

Sue sighed as Charlie pulled away from the Lahote residence and drove to the Black's residence.

Sorry, chapter is a bit shorter than I anticipated. I was trying out on writing things in third POV. It is not as good, so I would stick to personal POV. I am planning to write in Paul's POV in the next chapter. I am not sure when I am going to send the next chapter because I have an early morning shift, so I might have migraine episodes in the evening, so we shall see.

I finally brought Charlie to the story. We know what is going to happen. Cullens are coming back to the picture and we know who is going to be upset by this.
