Chapter 79: Epilogue Part 1

Ale's POV:

Life went on like it was supposed to be. Paul and I finally had our day of introducing the pups to the pack in a small bonfire. Despite of Paul's dismay and overprotectiveness with the triplets, everyone was able to hold them at least once. The pack knew that Seth became a protector for my daughter Evangeline, but it still took them by surprise to see how Seth would be lingering around Evangeline to make sure the guys won't handle her roughly. I had to tell Seth to relax with Paul backing me since the pack already been around with little children due to Claire, so Evangeline will be totally fine. Quil was a little standoffish throughout the whole bonfire, and I had a strong feeling that it was due to how the pack reacted to Seth imprinting on my daughter. From what I remember in the books, the pack was pretty disturbed with Quil being imprinted on Claire. I don't blame them since Meyers made it look like Quil is going to be romantically interested in Claire in the future.

When I confronted Quil, he told me that he was upset that the pack was more open-minded with Seth being a protector imprinter to Evangeline than when Quil imprinted on Claire. I asked him what kind of imprint bond that he has with Claire, and he openly told me that the council misguided Sam, thus Sam misguided him thinking that he is going to be a romantic partner to Claire in the future. This caused Quil to be sort of ostracized by the pack. The pack avoided talking about imprinting in front of Quil only because Sam had alpha commanded everyone to not talk about imprinting when Quil was around. Quil only found out about this after Jacob became Alpha, and Embry told him that Sam alpha commanded them. It upset Quil so much that he actually disappeared for few days, but no one knew. Since Jacob created rules for the pack and changed the way patrol was being run, no one noticed that he had disappeared for awhile. They all assumed he was just busy. Quil went on a spirit walk, and he realized that Claire is his protector imprint like Evangeline.

The spirits were able to guide Quil and show him a future that if he wasn't a protector to Claire, Claire would've been tossed from one babysitter to another. Then, it would cause Claire to develop behavioral problems to the point that CPS would've taken Claire away. It devastated the Makah tribe, and this created an opening for the U.S government to be more involved in tribal affairs in ways that brought more harm than good. Because Quil remained that one consistent good adult in her life, she was able to avoid that life. The spirits apologized to Quil that they made the imprint pull toward Claire that intensely because Claire was in that need of a good adult figure in her life. They never expected that the council would make Quil believe he would be a romantic imprinter in the future. They assured Quil that as Claire becomes older and more emotionally mature, the pull of the imprint will decrease to a normal imprint pull. Then, Quil would be able to free to date who he pleases.

I tried to empathize with Quil since the council, Sam and the pack sort of did him dirty. I assured him that since Jacob is Alpha now, any more wolves in the future will not go through what Quil went through. We will not make history repeat themselves. His anger was subsided, but I did talk with Paul, Seth and Jacob. I encouraged Seth to talk to Quil for both of their sake, since they are in similar positions. It would help Seth and Quil to not feel isolated nor lonely. It took a great control for Jacob to not bite Sam off for putting that kind of alpha command in the pack. Even though Jacob understood that Sam was trying to do the right thing to protect Quil, it only made things worse. The right thing was for the pack to talk about it together with Quil and get closer as a pack to understand how to deal with it properly. Prohibiting the pack from talking about it only cause more misunderstanding about imprinting and running away from the problem doesn't make the problem go away.

The next day after we introduced the pups to the pack, Leah came by. When Leah told me that she did the mating ceremony with Jacob and claimed each other, I was so happy for her that I couldn't help but cry for her. She playfully punched me in the arm to stop crying, but she was smiling when she said that, so I knew it was all talk with no bite to her small punch. I was surprised to hear that she also claimed Jacob, and it brought their wolf spirits close together as well. I never thought a double claiming could happen, but I guess it does now.

Few months have passed and it was December, when I heard from Sue one day when she came over to see how the triplets were progressing that Sam and Emily got back together again. Sam decided to move in with Emily in the Makah tribe to start anew with her there than in the Quileute reservation. Sam gave up his land and his house in the reservation. He even willingly was going to give it to Jacob and Leah, so Jacob wouldn't have to spend money with building a house. It took some time for Jacob and Leah to think about it, but they decided to take Sam's offer and live at his house temporarily. Once Jacob and Leah settle down, finish paying off the bank loan and save up in few years, then they will remodel the house according to their liking with the help from Paul and Jared. Jacob was able to get that loan from the bank and start off his mechanic shop. I was pretty sure it was a blessing from the spirits because it was surprisingly hit off from the very beginning. Quil and Embry helped Jacob with his business as Leah was trying to finish as many classes as possible that she can before mating season.

When Sam moved in with Emily in the Makah tribe, they decided to just get legally married. Apparently, Emily only wanted a big wedding in order to feel important in the reservation. Emily was slowly gaining her confidence as she and Kim started a catering business in Makah tribe. They both went into a 6-week business program that helped them on how to set up a business, how to maintain the business, and how to be a good owner. At first, it was a struggle for Kim whether to move to Makah tribe to help her with the business, but they were able to figure away to help Emily with her business without being physically in the Makah reservation. I was happy for Kim and Emily. Even though Emily is doing better, me and Leah won't become friends with her that easily. We still kept distance from her whenever Emily visited the reservation to see Kim, the pack, and Sue.

I celebrated Christmas with Paul and the babies. It was my first Christmas in this world, so Paul created a huge party for me. I was very touch by Paul's thoughtfulness. The pack made me play many games that day, and it was chaotically fun. Once everyone was gone and the babies were put to sleep, we made love throughout the night. The intensity of our love making never subsided or got boring. It remained that intense as if it was our first time.

I also celebrated my first new years in this world as well. Paul and the guys had work, so I spent the day before it became midnight of January 1st with Leah. We drank, talked, gossiped until Paul came back once at the strike of midnight. Leah quietly left us, and I spent new years with Paul. The pack sneakily set up fireworks for everyone in the reservation to see, and it was all Jacob's idea. It will take some time for the reservation to change their perception toward the pack since a lot of people thinks the pack is some cult. However, it was a first step on the path of being seen good to the reservation. I really enjoyed them.

Eventually, mating season came.

Author's Note:

Enjoy! And thank you so much for the kind comments. Once I finish wrapping this series up, Imma get emotional.

I don't know if I will write a fanfic continuing with Jacob and Leah. I don't know how to use Leah that well to be honest. However, I give that thought into consideration.
