BONUS Chapter 1
It was cold, very cold. It had never felt so cold, even with the fire that burned eternally inside of it. Was it the weather? Of course not, it was the middle of summer, how could it this cold in summer. Maybe it was the wind? No again, there wasn't any wind the begin with, especially on such a sunny, calm day. Then why was it freezing, in the middle of the day, with no breeze? Maybe it was its heart? Yes! Of course! It had been waiting years to get a tamer of its own, even if the other Digimon looked down on it for such a simple, useless wish. Ever since it was a Chikifezamon, that was its one dream.
"Chikifezamon, that's a terrible dream!" Uranmon had told it, "what about Digivolving, or being the strongest Digimon you can be?"
"You'll be waiting a while to achieve that dream." Another Chikifezamon shook its head, "and when I say a while, I mean a couple hundred centuries, when we're all nothing but useless data." Of course, the grim comments about their demise, always a staple in the other Chikifezamon's personality.
"It doesn't matter how long I have to wait, one day it'll happen!"
That day still hadn't come. Why would it? After all, dreams were meant to be crushed, at least, that's what it was told. Maybe it was true, getting a tamer was something you could only dream of, not something you could achieve. Wishful thinking, something that had been forced into its head for years.
"You know it'll never happen, right?" Yagimon turned to it, "no matter how hard you believe, it'll never happen."
"That's just what you want me to believe." It turned to the goat Digimon, "but for me, I bet it'll happen, just wait and see."
No, Yagimon was always wrong, right? It never made helpful comments, like everyone else.
"I can't believe you!" Yagimon spat, "telling me to leave? What have I done to deserve being booted out?"
"Everything." It hissed back, "you've done nothing helpful, and you can't even be a decent bodyguard."
"Because you told me to sit around and wait to be told what to do. You never said I could take action in anything!"
And then Yagimon was gone. It all happened that one night, so fast it became a whirlwind of yelling and attacks, nothing concrete to remember it by. But once it was all over, Yagimon was gone. Good riddances. They didn't need it. Yagimon was useless to them.
"Yagimon left?" Lovimon mumbled, shaking its head, "that can't be! Yagimon would never leave us without a good reason."
"Well, maybe it lied to you." It replied, "because I thought the same. But you know the saying, never trust a virus-attribute Digimon."
"Then what about Pardusmon? Is Pardusmon lying too? Will Pardusmon leave too?" Pure, raw, sorrowful emotion came from the snake Digimon, but no tears were shed. They were programmed to never have such true emotions, like robots.
But Pardusmon was helpful! Pardusmon and Yagimon were too different Digimon. Pardusmon was helpful, it was good at listening and protecting them. Yagimon sat around and did nothing. Yagimon was useless. Lovimon needed to learn that. Lovimon still needed to learn that.
"Go meet Calirrumon? Are you insane?" It was Pardusmon who spoke. The leopard-like Digimon looked shocked at the idea of meeting and speaking to such a powerful Digimon. But who wouldn't be? Calirrumon was the greatest Great-King to exist.
"Why wouldn't I?" It replied, "with Calirrumon's help, we could go to the real world! We could even Digivolve without needing human partners!"
"But what about that goal you've always had?" Lovimon piped up, "why would you need a tamer if you could Digivolve without them?"
"I'd be a better partner if I could Digivolve without a silly Digivice. A Digivice is too janky, while a Digimon who can Digivolve whenever they want would be much simpler and easier."
And that was true. Who needed a Digivice when your Digimon could Digivolve without one? It would just be plain silly.
"Great Calirrumon! I've come to see you!" The Great-King Digimon turned around, its flaming eyes glowing with the pure power that coursed through its body.
"What is it, simple, Rookie Digimon?"
"I want you to give me the power to Digivolve with a tamer, same with all of my allies and friends."
"Of course I can do that, under one condition."
The condition. The one with that held it from the power it needed to be the strongest Digimon to ever live.
"Help me on my quest to destroy all of those awful Protomon that are trying to destroy our world."
Of course, it had agreed. It was a simple demand. Destroy a bunch of Protomon, whatever they were. It was going to be easy.
There it was, its prey. A Vulturemon, one of those Protomon that was aiming to destroy its home. It looked like it had already been defeated before. That was good. It'd be easier to finish it off. With one simple attack, the weaker jumble of code would be gone for good. Fierimon leapt at the Vulturemon, a swell of heat forming in the back of its mouth,
"Fire Breath!"
