Twins of Magic

Summary: When Morgana was knocked unconscious, she learnt two things from Uther. First, Uther is her biological father and second, Merlin, the boy who poisoned her, is her twin brother, separated at birth. What will happen now? AU of series 3 on wards.

Chapter one: The Lost Prince

There were many types of pain and the King's Ward Morgana Le Fey, knew a lot about the psychological and physical side of it. The physical pains were when Uther throwing her in the dungeons whenever she pissed him off or like the time when Merlin poisoned her. The psychological side is induced when Uther persecuted her kind for so many years and fearing she might be next.

"I know she's dear to you, Sire, but surely you're not going to risk everything for Morgana?" Gaius asked, carefully. Morgana didn't even realize they were talking so she missed some parts of their conversation, damn!

Uther sighed. "Gaius, you don't understand. There's something you should know. Something I've told no one. Morgana is my daughter. It was while Gorlois was away," he explained.

This revelation made Morgana twitch her fingers slightly. Uther is her father! The man who persecuted her kind for years is her father! No, she couldn't believe it. Why would her mother….

"He was fighting on the Northern Plains. Her mother, Vivienne, grew lonely," Uther added, his voice cracking.

"I understand, Sire," Gaius said.

Uther took a deep breath. "There's more. Morgana has a twin brother."

"…. My Lord?" Gaius asked.

"The boy, your ward. He is Morgana's brother," Uther said with a heavy sigh. "He displayed signs of magic and after the ban I put up, I couldn't let him stay so I sent him to Cenred's kingdom. No one can know Gaius," he growled

"I assure you, Sire, your secret is safe with me," Gaius said hastily. There was a scrape of either a chair or stool and footsteps before the door opened and closed.

Morgana felt like her stomach was bubbling with rage. Not only is Uther her biological father, but now Merlin, the boy who poisoned her, is her twin brother? Fate and destiny must be laughing at her. But as she thought about it, it made sense. Merlin looked like her with the dark ebony hair, sharp cheekbones, the familiar bond that was between them as if they knew each other all of their lives and they both had magic. What Morgana didn't understand is why Merlin didn't confide in her?

Morgana didn't know how much time had passed, it felt like days since anyone spoke, she caught glimpses of her newfound brother and Gaius talking and Uther sobbing his heart out. It felt like forever and Morgana started to gasp for breath. Then, all of a sudden, she heard Merlin and Gwen talking.

"I'll sit with her. Why don't you go and get some sleep? You must be exhausted," Merlin said softly.

Gwen sighed tiredly. "If she wakes up..."

"I'll wake you," Merlin promised. Gwen yawned and footsteps were heard before the door closed. The next thing she knew, she felt her brother's hand on her forehead. "Ic þe þurhhæle þin licsare mid þam sundorcræftas þære ealdaþ æ!" he whispered.

Morgana felt warmth inside her before a gust of air filled her lungs as she coughed. Merlin saved her. Merlin used magic to save her!

The next morning, Gaius entered his chambers with a heavy feeling in his heart. The old man stopped and gaped at what he saw. Uther cradling an awake Morgana gently in his arms and both were crying happy tears.

"I'd never thought…" Uther was saying before his eyes rested on Gaius. He gave the physician a watery smile. "It's truly a miracle," he added before continuing to hug Morgana tightly.

When Gaius deemed Morgana well enough to return to her chambers, Gwen became a mother hen. Fluffing up her pillows, making sure she was comfortable and asking a million of questions. Morgana once loved this side of her, but now it was slightly overbearing. There was a knock on her door and she saw her father walking in her room.

"Thank you, Gwen," Morgana said dismissively as her eyes never left Uther.

Gwen turned her head and bowed low to Uther before she left the room. Uther slowly walked to Morgana's bed and sat down, gently taking her hands within his.

Uther chuckled wetly. "I could never let you die. I think I somehow willed you to live."

Morgana forced a sweet smile on her face, even though she was fighting the urge to vomit. "You've always been so good to me. I'm grateful."

"You and Arthur, you mean everything to me," Uther said.

Morgana bit her lip. She had to choose her words carefully. "I know I could have no better guardian. Being so close to death has made me realise how important you...and Arthur are to me. How close we are to each other. You're even like a father to me."

Uther nodded slowly. "Yes…." he said, tailing off.

Morgana took a deep breath. "But lately, it feels like a part of me is missing, like I had a brother or something that was taken away…"

Uther took in a shaky breath and paled slightly. "You've just recovered from a huge ordeal, Morgana. Maybe it's best if I left you to rest," he said before kissing his secret daughter on the forehead and left the room.

Morgana snarled. He deliberately disowned her and Merlin. Didn't even acknowledge them as siblings! Did Merlin know? Has Gaius told him yet? So many questions left unanswered. As it turned to night, a thunderstorm was brewing. Thunder rolled through and flashes of lightning lit up darken hallways. Morgana got dressed in her red dress and crept down a hallway which led to a balcony. Morgana took deep breaths to control her anger when she heard the door opening.

"Morgause," Morgana whispered staring at her sister with surprise.

"Sister. I waited for you the other night. What happened? Something is wrong," Morgause frowned, noting the change in her sister.

Morgana shook her head. "There is so much to tell you, Morgause…"

"What is it?"

"I over heard Uther…" Morgana growled.

Morgause raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Uther is my father. I am his daughter," Morgana spat, hatred shining in her green blue eyes.

Morgause sucked in a breath. "Uther…." She muttered, her mind thinking of new plans.

"He's been lying to me all these years," Morgana continued, fists clenching.

"But this is glorious news!" Morgause breathed.

"There's more. I have a twin brother," Morgana added making Morgause freeze. "It's Merlin, he's my twin. Uther sent him away because he showed signs of magic!"

Morgause smirked. "This is getting better and better…"

"He disowned me. He disowned my twin, kept him away from me and turned him against me! He wants people to think that he's the perfect king. It's more important to him than his own flesh and blood," Morgana ranted.

Morgause shook her head with a smile. "Morgana, don't you see? This is wonderful! You have a legitimate claim to his throne! And you can persuade Merlin from following his precious prince!"

Morgana shook her head. Didn't Morgause listen to anything she said? "No Morgause, you don't understand. Uther must pay for this!" that was when warning bells started to go off. Morgana sucked in a breath before turning to her sister. "You must go."

Morgause grabbed her wrist. "No, I don't want to leave you like this!" she said, shaking her head.

"You must or they will find you here!" Morgana insisted as she placed her hand on top of her sister.

Morgause pursed her lips, tightly kissed Morgana's cheek, hoping to give her some sort of comfort but Morgana pulled away slightly. Morgause walked to the door before putting on the hood of her cloak.

"We must bide our time," Morgause whispered before sneaking her way through the castle.

Morgana stood on the balcony for a few more minutes before returning to her chambers to find Gwen bustling around.

"Have they found the intruder?" Morgana asked, sitting down on the chair next to her vanity.

"Not yet. Looks like it's going to be a bad night," Gwen replied as she cleaned up the left overs of Morgana's dinner.

Morgana frowned and muttered "Yes," quietly. She sat there for ten minutes before growing restless and threw on her matching red cloak. She put her new dagger on her belt when she heard the door slammed open and Merlin stood there, staring at her while breathing heavily.

"What are you doing here?" Morgana snapped. She didn't want to deal with her new found brother right now, she wanted to deal with her so called father.

Merlin gasped for breath. "Arthur sent me to look after you. He's worried about the intruder," he lied.

Morgana snorted and rolled her eyes at the excuse. "I don't need you to save me, Merlin," she said angrily.

"He was quite insistent," Merlin continued and blocked the door as Morgana tried to barge her way out of her chambers. Merlin wasn't having none of it so Morgana screamed in frustration and used her magic to push Merlin to knock him out against the wall and a candle fell next to him while setting her curtains on fire.

Morgana continued her journey through the empty and cold corridors while avoiding Camelot's guards. When she reached her destination. Morgana opened the door quietly to find Uther asleep in his bed. Morgana smirked and unleashed her beloved dagger from it's case and walked towards the bed, dagger raised above her head. Suddenly there was a huge gust of wind that blew the windows open and threw Morgana against the wall, dropping her dagger. Uther woke, startled and looked around his room, seeing Morgana on the floor.

"What's going on?" Uther demanded, sitting up in his bed.

Morgana hastily got to her feet and subtly kicked her dagger under his bed. "I wanted to be with you. You're the only person I feel safe with," she lied, hugging her father. Morgana's eyes caught Merlin behind the screen, scoffing at her before quietly sneaking out of the room. Merlin stopped her from killing Uther. Why?

Well they say knowledge come's in threes. And thirdly, when Morgana becomes Queen, she would acknowledge Merlin as her twin and together, they would bring magic back to Camelot and destroy Uther and Arthur if it was the last thing she did.
