Callum

"I LOVE YOU CALLUM…"

The noose is being pulled over my head and around my neck. But I can hear her.

"I LOVE YOU TOO SEPHY…"

Wait… Please wait… Just a moment longer…

"SEPHY I LO-"

Sephy

I opened my eyes. I felt unusually tired, heavy like I was submerged underwater.

"Doctor," someone called out. "She's awake."

It was a nurse. As I tried to sit up, a group of doctors rushed into the room. They ordered a bunch of tests, head scans, MRI and blood tests. I tried to ask questions about where I was and what happened but none of the doctors would look me in the eye. All they said was that I was injured and had been in a coma for the past ten years. They all left and I sat there, staring at the door in shock.

The weeks flew by and I slowly recovered. Every night I had the same dream. I see a person with a hood pulled over his eyes standing on the gallows. Then someone in front of me would turn around, her hoop earrings sparkling in the sunlight as she did. She reveals a diamond-shaped dagger and stabs me my abdomen. I scream in pain and fall to the ground. I look up and all I see is her eyes staring back at me.

I was finally discharged. As I walked out of the hospital, there was a group of Noughts standing outside the door, whispering about me. Judging by their uniform, I assume that they were janitors for the hospital.

"That's Persephone Hadley, the one that killed Callum Mcgregor." said one of them. "I heard that his mother is still not over it, even after 10 years."

"Poor Meggie, she lost her entire family in only a matter of weeks. I can't imagine going through that," said another.

The others nodded sympathetically. I was confused. Thoughts raced through my mind. Who is Callum McGregor? Why did they think I killed him? Did I kill someone? Why don't I remember that?

"Sephy," a voice called out.

It was Minnie. She smiled, coldly. I finally understood.

"Come on Sephy, we're going to be late," said Minnie, menacingly. Minnie pushed me into the car. I tried to fight her but she was a lot stronger than me. She drove, out of the hospital and onto the highway. She stopped behind a tree and sat there motionless.

"Why?" I finally asked, filling the silence.

Minnie turned around, her hoop earring sparkling in the sunlight. She said nothing. She pulled out a diamond-shaped dagger.

"Goodbye Sephy."
