Li Fon, or as he is addressed in the West, Fon Li; did not completely know how his clan's mate had convinced him to take this trip. It had not been for the Triads, thankfully. But a civilian business venture. He would need to negotiate a deal with a company that made drills.

How he had been convinced to do so was still beyond him. And yet here he was scouting out the home to the businessman he was to make a deal with. In his line of work, it always paid off to be prepared. Despite not really wanting to be a part of this, he was determined to see it through.

He watched that day as a woman dragged a small boy from the cupboard under the stairs. The child cooked and served breakfast and was fed none. He had to run to school while the second child got a ride with the man, he would be meeting with later that day.

He watched as the woman watched soap operas and spied not so talentedly on her neighbors. She left about noon in a bad mood and brought back the small boy from before who was made to do the house and yard work. Fon watched as the boy cooked the meal that he knew would be served that night before being beaten and shoved back into the cupboard.

Fon had to leave to meet up with his Grunnings contact and return to the house. It took all his training to not show the disgust he felt towards the family. They were civilians, he could not kill them for their treatment of the child. The child he knew was very important in some circles. Which inevitably meant he could not take the child away. No matter what his instincts screamed.

"Can you believe it Mr. Li?" simpered the horse faced woman.

"They tried to tell me they were all out of shrimp." She tittered. Fon smiled, only years of discipline staying the sneer that wanted to appear on his face. He continued to make small talk with the annoying family, mentally counting down the seconds until he could leave.

And then it happened. Lichi had slipped away, and a bond to a sky had formed. It was only one in one thousand flame users that a sky and a guardian would harmonize instinctively. But for a sky and a guardian to harmonize through a flame familiar? It had never been done. And yet, there was no mistaking the bond for what it was.

Fon had always hoped to bond with a sky when he first activated his flames. But after years of not finding a sky that fit his flames, he began to lose hope. He had buried his hopelessness in the research of bonds and the training in his martial arts. And now he had found his sky.

From the bond with Lichi Fon knew it had to be the boy he had seen earlier. The child who had worked so hard on the meal and the housework and who's credit was given to the horse faced Petunia Dursley. The child all of magical Britain claimed to worship and yet who had left him to fend for himself in this household.

The fact the young boy was clearly civilian and had no idea what flames were had made him nervous at first. Would he severe their bond without knowing the consequences? Would Fon's dreams of finding a sky end in Discord? But no, he could feel the acceptance of the bond and found himself relaxing as much as he could in his situation.

It was easy to stall for time after the dinner. He knew he would in the end accept, only to appease the clan's member who had asked this of him. But he needed to arrange things. He could not openly approach his sky yet. It was too dangerous, not only from the mafia side, but from the magical as well. His sky was far too young and inexperienced for him to paint a target on his back. Not that Fon would ever want such a thing. Being from the Li clan and being an arcobolino never felt more restrictive.

He arranged to meet with Viper in France. He hoped their meeting would throw off suspicion. For one reason they were both arcobaleno. But not many knew that Viper was one of Fon's clan's English counterparts. He hoped the mist would help him not only for that reason, but also that the child in question was grandchild to one of Vipers clansmen and that his nephew was the incarcerated godfather of the boy.

Another reason he hoped people wouldn't notice was that despite not openly getting along they occasionally met up to exchange news. Their public attitude towards each other was polite acquaintance. He hoped any witness would think them catching up briefly before departing.

Receiving a private room and making sure it wasn't bugged Viper removed his hood revealing black hair and gray eyes.

"It is not often you approach me under the umbrella of our clans." He stated.

"I find myself in a precarious situation." Fon replied. Viper raised an eyebrow but waited for the Chinese man to continue.

"A clansman asked me to travel to Britain to acquire a deal with a company that produces drills. I went and thought it would be quick and easy, but instead found a child living there. A child well known in certain circles. This child was mistreated, but I knew despite any desires I could not do anything for him." Fon continued to describe the acts the Dursleys had done, Lichi conducting a harmony with the child, and finally who the child was.

"You and I know there isn't much we can do. We are far too large targets to the mafia. He would be harmed or possibly killed if we interfered. And yet, perhaps someone could train him from the clans. Someone the mafia doesn't know about."

"And the wizards?" Viper asked.

"Obviously aren't aware of what's going on. I only watched them a day and I have plenty of evidence for abuse. If anyone knew they would bring it up as anyone from our society can tell you how special children are."

"I'll send Regulus. The old man does not pay attention to him, thinking only Sirius is a danger." Viper snorted. "As if my nephew was a danger to him. At least until the betrayal. But you will need to get the family to comply with our goals."

It was easier than Fon feared. And yet his head throbbed at all the yelling and shrill screeches. He had only to use the Dursley's need for normalcy to become in charge of the child's schooling. A little subtle promising and the Dursley's left his sky alone.

It was hard for Fon to go through Regulus. He truly wanted to publicly claim his sky. But he knew the dangers involved. He would not step from the shadows until Harry was old enough to stand on his own. Not that he would ever need too again. Fon would make sure of that.

Author's Note:

I am terribly sorry for the very long wait. Sorry especially to Animemangalover24 for my couple of weeks turning into nearly three months. If you wish to know some of what has been going on than keep reading. However, if you are not that kind of person, please either skip below this message or the rest of the chapter entirely.

I'm sorry for all my readers I have not abandoned any of my stories. However, it will be a while between updates. There are several reasons for the continued delays.

I: The notetaker that contained most of my work gave out while I was transferring the projects to a new medium. I had to do it completely by hand because the flash drive port was already dead. For those of you who are reading Shukaku's Shadow: I'm afraid it is on the very bottom of my to do list because of that. I am not abandoning it, but I have to find the direction I want the story to go in. Besides I have received several discouraging reviews on it. I am not giving up on it, but it will be a very long time before I will get around to it. Especially because of the next point.

II: I have moved several months ago. Unfortunately, most of the money I get is going into paying for my part of the rent. Which means I have no way of getting a computer of my own. Luckily for you I still have access to the one I've been using. Unfortunately, I'm not always here and I have to balance what I need to do on the computer with the time I have.

III: Finally, I am going through some tough times with my family at the moment. My sister-in-law found out her mother had stage four cancer recently. She went to go see her, but on the day, she was flying out her brother called to tell her that their mother had died the previous night. My uncle through marriage had been diagnosed with stage four cancer earlier this year. He and my aunt renewed their wedding vows on the twenty-first of August. But he died two days later. And my grandfather has Parkinson's disease. He isn't doing so well at the moment; it is hard to watch such a strong man be able to do less and less.

I am sorry my writing has slowed significantly. But as I have said before this is a hobby for me. I can't drop everything to write. I admire those who can churn out a ten-thousand-word chapter every day. But even if I could spend all day writing, I am not that good of a writer. Do not worry though. Even if I'm not posting, I continue to write.

Author's Note Part 2:

So, I've recently gotten into two separate moods on top of my Kingdom Hearts mood. Unfortunately, there aren't many fics I could find for either of them and the ones I have found are WIPs at the moment, or one shot. And that isn't mentioning finding the pairing I would love to see. So, I'm thinking of writing for them, but I have far too many works on the go at the moment and I am determined to finish them. So, I thought I would mention them in case one of you read this and decides to write something. Please save me from the rabid plot bunnies so I can focus upon my own WIPs.

The first series I found myself interested is Kuroko no Basuke. The only fics I could find for this fandom is by Crocogirlie, and three of the five written by them were one shot. I would love to see a Harry Potter crossover with Harry paired with one of the following: Riota Kise, Daiki Aomine, Atsushi Murasakibara, Tatsuya Himuro, Shoichi Imayoshi or Yoshinori Susa.

The second fandom I am interested in is Final Fantasy VII. Though there are more in this category most of the ones I'm interested in are WIPs. I would love to see a crossover with Harry paired with one of the following. Sephiroth, Reno, Genesis Rhapsodos, Angeal Hewley, Lazard Deusericus, or Tseng.

Disclaimer:

I own nothing. Harry Potter and Katekyo Hitman Reborn belong to their various authors, producers, and/or creators in general. I am not one and probably never will be. I make no money from these writings. This work came from what free time I have. I expect nothing from them and only wish to show the proper awe to the brilliant minds behind them.

Thanks. I'm sorry it's been over a year, I hope you will return to the fic, though I can understand if you don't. It is a gift fic, so I cannot take credit for the idea of it.

It isn't uncommon for people to have both magic and flames. Though the magical who don't have flames know as much about the mafia as they do nonmagical. That is to say they don't know anything. The mafia knows more about the magical simply because the flame users that are also magical tend to inform their bosses. If people like the Dursley's are left with that kind of information then I can't really respect the statute of secrecy. I mean in the actual Harry Potter books they send letters by owls to students who perform magic outside of school. It's very counterproductive to keeping on the down low. So, it's not that the mafia affects the magical communities; but that magical end up in the mafia.

Most of your questions have been answered in this chapter. As for him trusting easily, it really depends upon the person. Though it is a bit of a weakness of his.

I think I've heard of that, but I'm not very familiar with it. Fon will pop in and out for a while. As for the Wizarding World, they won't do a thing. Because they don't know anything about it. Look at cannon, Harry spent ten years with a closet for a bedroom and most people thought he was living in the lap of luxury.

Thank you for the input, though unfortunately it won't be implemented. Harry will be going to Hogwarts. I do really appreciate your review and hope the direction and lack of updates haven't discouraged you.

Esmereilda

Yes. It was Lichi who Harry met.
