Chapter 1: What Are You Waiting For?
The sun was blazing onto me, the cicadas were chirping nearby, and I was playing on the grassland. It was a typical midsummer day, so I tried to enjoy it to the fullest, though the weather was boiling me alive. It was so hot out, I thought I was going to pass out over a heat stroke, and that I would wake up to a nasty sunburn on my body. I decided to walk back to my house so that I could drink a glass of water to quench my thirst, and I then saw my mother doing laundry near my house. My mother was a very beautiful woman; she had long, straight, black hair like me, though it looked much better on her compared to me. My mother was wearing a straw hat to protect herself from the sun, along with a white dress that made her look like an angel from heaven. I walked toward my mom, she asked me if I was alright, and I replied with something like it's exhausting but fun, so I'm getting a drink of water. I then asked her a question, "mom will I ever be like you?" My mother was shocked by my question, though after a minute passed, her warm smile returned.
"Oh, Aisa my sweetheart, you don't have to be like me, just be"-
My eyes opened to the sight of irritating light that was coming from opened curtains in the apartment that I was sharing with my teacher. In response, I tried rolling away to the other side of the bed so that I could avoid the blinding light that was being showered onto me. I then saw a certain short, pink-haired loli wearing a pink dress along with a light-pink jacket. Which all made her look like my twelve-year-old sister, however, this loli is actually my teacher. She was staring at me with a worried look on her face, before I could respond with a "is there something wrong?" she spoke first.
"Oh my god! Aisa, you are crying!"
I then proceeded to look at a nearby mirror so that I could see my reflection, as I saw myself with my own eyes that confirmed the words she spoke to me. I saw my long, straight, black hair and many tears running down my face, the loli was telling the truth, and I had no clue how or why that happened. This all feels so familiar, like that I'm having a case of déjà vu, though I can't remember from where?
"I guess I had a bad dream, don't worry about it, I'm fine now," I said, as I tried to brush off the worries of my teacher, with a fake smile on my face.
"You are really feeling better now? Ok, get dressed quickly or we'll both be late for homeroom, there are only fifteen minutes left." My teacher told me, which immediately sent a bolt of electricity throughout my body, fully waking me up from the half-asleep half-awake state my body was in.
"Eh, why didn't you tell me sooner?!" I said, wondering what could have possibly made my teacher wait so long to try and wake me up,
"Sooner? I've literally been trying to wake you up for the past twenty minutes! I was tapping you, patting your face, and rubbing at your forehead all while trying to eat my breakfast so that I wouldn't starve and nothing worked! I then had a final idea of opening the curtains, so that you wouldn't be late to class, and this is the thanks I get?!" She said while tears started flowing out of her eyes creating a huge tsunami that threatened to drown both of us to death.
"I'm sorry, I did not know you did all of that for me in an attempt to help me, thank you." I apologized realizing the error of my ways.
"You really mean it? Thank you, thank you, and thank you! Thank you so much for your forgiveness, Aisa-chan!" My teacher said with a very childlike smile on her face, which was so adorable, though I would never say it to her out of embarrassment.
"I'll get dressed now so that we are not both late, I don't mind a detention too much, though the academic faculty might give you a hard time if you are late," I said while grabbing my school uniform and proceeding to get dressed for class.
"Oh my god! I almost forgot!" My teacher said while she started to scramble around the room looking for her phone so that she could figure out what time it is now.
"Oh no! There are only twelve minutes left till homeroom starts! I'll grab the bento boxes I prepared for us while you finish getting dressed!" My teacher said which her worrying that only managed to increase the pressure I felt with the limited time that we both have left.
"Oh crap, thanks again, teacher!" I said while putting the finishing touches on my school uniform, which included the catholic cross that annoying girl with the nun's habit and flat chest, gave me.
"I already told you, you don't have to call me teacher outside of the classroom, please call me Tsukuyomi, Aisa-chan!" Tsukuyomi said, by the way, I didn't explain this earlier, but my teacher's name is Tsukuyomi Komoe. Tsukuyomi Komoe apparently means small which fits really well considering that she looks like a loli. Tsukuyomi is also one of the seven wonders of Academy City, which are urban legends that originate from Academy City. The urban legends are so popular that tourists from other countries consider her a national treasure, and whenever they visit Academy City, tons of them always try to take pictures with her. Tsukuyomi Komoe became my teacher after the Aureolus Izzard incident, which forced me to switch schools from Kirigaoka Girls' Academy and transferring to a certain high school. A lot of my classmates from Kirigaoka Girl's Academy had to switch schools too after a gas leak threatened the school, some ended up transferring to a certain high school with me. One of them being my only friend from Kirigaoka Girl's Academy, Nanoha, who I was very excited to see after the Aureolus Izzard incident. However, Nanoha almost killed me with brutal forehead flicks, after finding out I was in a certain hospital because I made her worry so much since I was missing for a few days. Though we both get along just fine again, Nanoha is bossy and kind of annoying, but in a loveable way, and we even ended up forming a clique with another girl from a certain high school. There's also the fact that Kamijo Toma attends a certain high school alongside me, I don't have a crush on him or anything, though Toma being somewhat near me brings me comfort. Toma is irritating though, his life is like a dating sim where he is bound to unlock more paths to more girls, which annoys me for some reason I can't explain.
"Aisa, Aisa! What happened? Did you seem to be in some sort of trance? Are you alright? Did you get enough sleep last night? Were you busy watching Anime until 3 AM, again?" Tsukuyomi said, as she talked like a mother worrying over her daughter's health, which only managed to embarrass me.
"I-I'm fine, I finished getting ready for class, so let's go to school, teacher," I said with a teasing smile, which made Tsukuyomi upset again.
"Why won't you call me Tsukuyomi, Aisa-chan?" Tsukuyomi said as a single tear dripped from her eye while pouting. I and Tsukuyomi both exited the apartment and got in her car together so that we could make it in time for homeroom that would start in a few minutes.
For anyone that needs a quick recap, my name is Aisa Himegami; I'm a Japanese student enrolling at a certain high school, which is located on a hill, and one needs to climb an inclination and a number of steps to reach its main entrance. It is assumed there is also an alternate way into the grounds, as staff members can park their vehicles inside the school grounds. I was forced to transfer to a certain high school after I was involved in a death battle with an alchemist named Aureolus Izzard, who kidnapped me because he desired my esper ability, Deep Blood. Deep Blood is an ability that attracts vampires to me and kills them, Aureolus wished to use my power to save a certain annoying girl, who wears a nun's habit and has a flat chest. I was abused while in captivity, though I ended up being rescued by a certain man with black, spiky, hair, named Kamijo Toma. In an intense battle, that pushed both combatants to their absolute limits, Toma was wounded, and I sacrificed my life to save him. Toma then managed to defeat Aureolus using a mysterious power that was contained in his right hand, which all somehow reverted the damage that was done to me and Toma by Izzard. I woke up the next day wondering why Toma would go so far to save my life, since I'm a bad person, a murderer, and he barely knew who I was. Toma then proceeded to give me the courage to continue living, now I'm living a better life, living with a teacher that loves me, and friends that support me. However, something's missing, that doesn't mean I'm depressed again, on the contrary, I'm living a much better life now. But, I'm not satisfied with how things turned out in the end. Aureolus Izzard somehow managed to survive the death battle between him and Toma, Aureolus knew the identity of the vampire that slaughtered my friends and family, so I decided to question him about it after the fight. However, the pain that Aureolus went through apparently made him lose all of his memories in relation to the vampire, as well as the deadly battle that occurred between us. It all meant that the lead to finding the vampire was lost, there was nothing I could do about it, but it all really infuriated me. I also don't think I have become a better person in any way, I haven't made the world any better, nor have I saved someone who will make the world a better place to live yet. I'm still a bad person, a murderer, who has killed many, many vampires. I don't like myself that much at all, I want to find a way, some way, that will make me feel better about myself, and that will redeem me for the mistakes that I committed. If I manage to redeem myself, then maybe, just maybe, I can consider my life to be precious and worth living.
I and Tsukuyomi managed to arrive at a certain high school with less than a minute to spare, though it was enough time to reach homeroom.
"Only twenty seconds to spare, geez, you were really close to being late and getting a detention, Aisa," Nanoha said, her blunt attitude only managed to annoy me.
"Hey, I made it just in time, so that's what counts. You should be congratulating me on my perfect attendance, Kouhai." I said with a mischievous smirk, knowing full well that Nanoha hates being called Kouhai.
"Kouhai is not my name! It's Nanoha! N-A-N-O-H-A! I know that you know that it pisses me off, so stop doing that! Hell, I'm not even your Kouhai anymore because I managed to skip a grade, due to my genius-level intellect. So call me Nanoha dam it!" Nanoha said with a rage-filled aura coming off of her body as her pigtails became undone and her brunette hair stood straight up. Nanoha's hot-headed temper has become very well known throughout a certain high school, being feared by anyone unlucky to face her wrath, including a part of every guy's nightmares.
"Calm down Nanoha, you don't want to make Ms. Komoe cry again do you unless you want the classroom to get flooded again?" A certain tall girl said with long, black hair, and a huge forehead, that makes her look smarter than she actually is.
"You are right, Seiri, I'll try and not get mad toward Aisa in the classroom, though it's difficult not to get irritated whenever Aisa calls me Kouhai," Nanoha said while trying to hide her blushing, red face from booth me and Seiri. I almost forgot to explain, the tall girl with the mega-sized forehead is Fukiyose Seiri. Fukiyose Seiri is my other friend at a certain high school; she is kind of bossy and annoying like Nanoha, though Seiri speaks in a more relaxed and calm way which makes it more bearable. Fukiyose Seiri is also the other girl that completes our clique in a certain high school, which consists of me, Nanoha, and Seiri, and we are known as Alpha Squad. Alpha Squad is basically the closest thing considered to be idols in a certain high school, which puts us in direct contrast with Delta Force. Delta Force is an idiot trio group that consists of Toma, Aogami Pierce who is a blue-haired, perverted man, and Tsuchimikado Motoharu who is a blond-haired man with sunglasses and a gold chain around his neck. Aside from Toma, they are really annoying; they especially irritate Nanoha to the point that she beats the crap out of them on a daily basis.
"Attention everyone, class is now in session." Tsukuyomi said, while appearing out of nowhere that I didn't notice her, probably due to her being very short.
Thirty minutes later
I'm so bored, I thought to myself, it was a fairly typical day of school for me, but I wasn't very interested in the stuff we were learning today, also not getting much sleep the other night didn't help either. I'll just take a quick, five-minute nap, and then I'll wake up feeling refreshed.
Another thirty minutes later
"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz." I snored.
"Aisa, hey Aisa! Wake up!" Seiri apparently said; though I was too busy sleeping I didn't know for sure.
"Ms. Komoe, permission to grab my phone and turn on the flashlight to wake Himegami up?" Nanoha said, while visibly trying to hold her rage in check.
"Granted." Tsukuyomi said, while visibly trying to hold back her tears.
"Ah! It burns! Make it stop!" I screamed while trying to cover my face from the blinding light of Nanoha's phone.
"Aisa! Why were you sleeping in class again?" You know you are not supposed to sleep in class! Nanoha yelled, while not being able to contain her anger any longer.
"Crap," I said with my hair a mess, and drool leaking from my mouth while noticing everyone in class staring at me. Specifically, Tsukuyomi who was on the verge of tears, and Aogami along with Tsuchimikado who were busy laughing hysterically due to my disheveled appearance.
"Aisa-chan, am I really that boring, that you fell asleep because of my lecture?" Tsukuyomi said with tears seeping from her eyes.
"No! That's not true! I like hearing you talk, I guess, I'm just tired." I said while having a very embarrassed look on my face.
"Heh, tired is one way of putting it. You were sleeping for so long that I managed to draw on your face when no one was looking." Aogami said while having a difficult time holding back his incessant laughing. I proceeded to check my face with my phone when I noticed three lines drawn on each of my cheeks, which made it resemble a cat that embarrassed me further.
"Why you! I'll kick your ass for that, Aogami! No one is allowed to tease Aisa, except me!" Nanoha said with a rage-filled aura coming off of her body as her pigtails became undone and her brunette hair stood straight up.
"Please do your worst! I want you to punish me for my crimes in the most brutal way imaginable!" Aogami said which only made Nanoha more pissed off.
"Nanoha, your anger is showing again," Seiri said while keeping her calm and relaxed demeanor.
"Oh come on, Seiri! This jackass is asking for it, and I really want to give it to him, my fist in his face that is." Nanoha said while rolling up her sleeves, preparing for the beat down she wants to give to Aogami.
"Yes! Do it! Give me the punishment of a lifetime that is deserving of a horrible sinner like me." Aogami yelled while lifting his arms in the air, ready to receive Nanoha's fury.
"That's enough, Aogami and Nanoha! Please no fighting in school!" Tsukuyomi said, with tears pouring from her eyes.
"Uh oh, Ms. Komoe is crying again, what do we do Aisa? If we don't act fast, the entire classroom is going to be submerged underwater." Seiri said toward me while looking visibly worried that we will all be forced to swim out of the classroom at this rate.
"Seiri, there's only one way to calm down Teacher when she gets this miserable," I said while prepping myself to use my special technique that always manages to calm down Tsukuyomi without fail.
"Tsukuyomi, please stop crying," I said with a very cheerful smile on my face that instantly made Tsukuyomi cease her crying, and warmed her heart.
"Aisa-chan, called me Tsukuyomi! Yay! Yay! Yay! However, I'd prefer you call me by my name outside of school, though I'll take it!" Tsukuyomi said, with a very adorable, childlike face, and a beaming smile. It was all really cute, though I tried my best to hide it from my face so that I could avoid more embarrassment.
Afterward, class resumed, I was able to manage to stay awake throughout the rest of the lectures, though it was very difficult. Finally, the school day came to an end, and just when all of us were about to leave a certain high school, she made her intentions crystal clear
"Not so fast, where do you think you are going, idiot trio?" Nanoha said with a merciless smile, along with electric sparks coming off of her, while cracking her knuckles, which showcased her rage very well.
"It's actually Delta Force," Tsuchimikado said which pissed off Nanoha.
"Wait, I didn't do anything this time, so why am I included as one of your enemies?" Toma said which aggravated Nanoha.
"Yes! I've been waiting for this all day! Do your worst! I want you to give me the punishment that I deserve!" Aogami said which infuriated Nanoha.
"You guys forgot to attend my class of the day it's called how to get your asses kicked 101, any questions?" Nanoha said with a rage-filled aura coming off of her body as her pigtails became undone and her brunette hair stood straight up.
"No ma'am." Tsuchimikado said.
"Finally, punishment time!" Aogami said.
"Just my luck!" Toma said.
Nanoha proceeded to beat the shit out of Delta Force for embarrassing me, sending all three idiots on a one-way trip to the school nurse. Toma didn't do anything, which made me feel a little bad that he suffered too, though he is part of Delta Force and kind of irritating, so it all didn't bother me too much.
After school concluded for the day, Nanoha, and Seiri, decided to go to a nearby restaurant to eat some food.
"Welcome to Macronall Hamburger, how may I take your order?" The waiter said.
"I'll take a number nine," Seiri said.
"Let me get a number six with extra dip," Nanoha said.
"I'll have two number nines, a number nine large, a number six with extra dip, a number seven, two number forty-fives, one with cheese, and a large soda," I said as my friends and the other customers' jaws dropped to the floor with surprise.
"Wait, I remember you! You are the girl who ordered that exact order and almost left without paying for it!" The waiter said, apparently remembering who I was, though I had no memory of him.
"Don't worry, I got my friends to cover for me, so you'll have the money paid in full," I said with a cheeky grin, which pissed off both Nanoha and Seiri.
"You are paying for yourself, Aisa," Seiri said.
"Like hell, I'm paying for you, use your own money dam it!" Nanoha said.
"Just kidding, I have my own money, so there's nothing to worry about," I said while chuckling at Nanoha's over-the-top reaction.
"Sorry about that, though you should have just said so in the first place," Nanoha muttered with embarrassment.
Afterward, we all started eating the food we ordered for ourselves, and then Nanoha asked me a question.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you in class earlier, but I just don't want you to fall behind in school, you know," Nanoha said while pouting.
"It's ok; you'll always be my precious Kouhai!" I said with a cheerful smile that made Nanoha blush really hard.
"Why did you fall asleep for so long in class, not enough sleep, Aisa?" Seiri said which made me think about it for a minute before answering her question.
"I definitely didn't get enough sleep, and the subject we were covering wasn't my favorite, though I guess above all, I just want something interesting to happen," I said while I stared out of a nearby window, waiting for things to change for the better.
Meanwhile, at a psychiatric hospital located somewhere in Academy City
BOOM!
"What the hell was that?" A Psychiatrist said while trying to figure out what just happened. The Psychiatrist proceeds to run downstairs to the first floor of the building, and see tons of smoke coming from the front entrance which appears to have been blown up.
A massive creature walks out of the smoke, it has a black mullet, clothes that are all black consisting of a jacket, shirt, sunglasses, and jeans, which all don't appear to be threatening. No, what made this creature terrifying was his height and physique, his height being over nine feet tall, and his physique is so muscular. It was too muscular, there were way too many muscles on his body, and it all made him look so abnormal and it was absolutely horrifying.
"I have a firearm, and I know how to shoot, so stand down you monster!" The Psychiatrist said while pulling out his gun, trying so hard not to piss himself out of fear of the unknown.
The creature proceeded to walk toward the Psychiatrist, the Psychiatrist at this point was drenched in sweat due to the 'monster' that was in front of him, and that now it was walking even closer to him.
"I said I'll shoot!" The Psychiatrist said while shooting eight bullets at the creature, all direct hits, though all eight bullets did absolutely nothing to the creature and all remained in its body.
"What in the hell are you"- The Psychiatrist was saying before his head was torn off his body, which resulted in his blood spurting out of where his head used to be, there was so much in fact that his blood landed on the creature's face, and the creature proceeded to lick some of the blood off with its tongue.
"This blood is rotten." The creature said, while it decided to bolt upstairs, the creature ran so fast that any people that were near him exploded due to the wind pressure that was forced onto them. The creature kept sprinting, easily breaking the floor as it ran, a group of Anti-Skill officers that were inside the building tried to desperately stop the beast from moving.
"Stop right now! You monster!" An Anti-Skill officer said while proceeding to shoot many bullets into the creature. The creature's body was full of bullets now, so it decided to release on the Anti-Skill officers that were present, obliterating almost all of them in an instant. Only one Anti-Skill officer survived the attack, barely though, with tons of blood pouring out of his body.
The surviving Anti-Skill officer decided to make one final stand against the creature, shooting it in the head, it did nothing at all to it. The creature then punched a huge hole right in the surviving Anti-Skill officer's chest, brutally killing the defenseless man, and proceeded to lick the off its arm. All the alarms were going off, people helplessly screamed, it was absolute chaos.
"So much rotten blood!" The creature roared and proceeded to move faster throughout the psychiatric hospital, that he was casually destroying everything around him without even having to touch it. Glass shattered, walls crumbled, the floor imploded, and the creature was destroying the entire building. Destroying the building wasn't even the creature's objective, though it was doing it with ease, without breaking a single drop of sweat. The creature's true objective was a man on the highest floor of the hospital; the creature was going floor by floor searching for the man, everything that was in its path annihilated.
Then the creature finally made it to the room he was looking for, the door crumbled without having to even touch it, and it saw the man it was looking for. There was a green-haired man in a straitjacket, screaming and crying at what he was staring at, a grotesque creature, wearing all black clothing, utterly drenched in blood.
"You are the man named Aureolus Izzard, are you not?" The creature asked Aureolus in a voice that was not human at all, it was horrifying to listen to, and it could make any sane individual go completely insane just by hearing it. The creature walked toward Aureolus Izzard, it picked him up from the throat, and asked Izzard a question.
"Where is the Esper with the ability Deep Blood located?" The creature said while Aureolus was trembling in absolute terror.
"I don't know who that is? What's going on? Who are you? Why are you doing this? Please, spare my life! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Aureolus screamed as the creature obliterated his throat, Aureolus Izzard died a painful, cruel, merciless death. The creature proceeded to lick his hand that was covered in Aureolus's blood.
"This blood is tasty!" The creature said.
Hello everyone! Ren here! With this chapter, I wanted some slice of life stuff to flesh out the main cast that showcases more of Aisa and the supporting cast, with a setup at the end for things to come. The next chapter has even more exciting moments so get hyped! Also for this chapter's title What are you waiting for? This is a reference to a Nickelback song of the same name, while also questioning what Aisa exactly wants out of her life. This will all be very important as the story continues, get excited for the next chapter later tonight! Yes, double chapters today! Look forward to it! Ren out!
