Chapter 2: Freak on a Leash
"You want something interesting to happen, so what you are trying to say is that you want a boyfriend, am I right Aisa?" Seiri said while nudging me on the shoulder, and with a huge smirk on her face.
"Uh, I don't think it's that, Seiri, I mean what guy could Aisa be interested in, you do realize all the boys in our class are unintelligent idiots," Nanoha said while scoffing, and flipping one of her brunette pigtails in the air.
"Thanks for your comment, but I want to hear Aisa's response, come on, there's got to be a guy you like, let me guess, you like Toma don't you?" Seiri said while pointing her finger at me, and it all made me blush beet red for some inexplicable reason.
"No way! You actually like that doofus Toma, you know the guy who always has to take remedial classes because he's dumb, he's seriously your type!?" Nanoha said, with a completely dumbfounded expression, this conversation is pissing me off.
"I never said I liked Toma! You guys are just making a nonsensical accusation! What the hell would I even see in a guy like him anyway? Also for the record, I never said I wanted a boyfriend! I said, strongly refusing their suggestions while trying to convince myself I have absolutely no feelings toward Toma whatsoever.
"Oh thank god! I thought I was going to lose you since Toma would make you lose brain cells by just being around him." Nanoha said, showing how she feels superior toward other people, and I was not letting that comment slide.
"That's it, you know I could care less about Toma since there are no good reasons why I would like him, but that's just mean," I said while flicking Nanoha in her forehead with my finger.
"Ow. Ok, you are right; I went way too far with that last comment. I'm sorry, I just care about you, Aisa, and I don't want you to make choices you'll only end up regretting, that's all. Nanoha said while trying to hide her blushing, red face from both me and Seiri.
"Apology accepted. That's why you'll always be my precious Kouhai, even though we are in the same grade now." I said with a very cheerful smile on my face.
"Yeah, whatever! Enough with this topic, let's get back to what you were saying about wanting something interesting to happen! Nanoha said, she was blushing really hard, I don't know how she can be so hotheaded and cute at the same time.
"That's right! I might have been wrong the first time, but I know I'm right this time! You want to change your look, don't you? Seiri said, with an all-knowing smirk on her face, while winking at me.
"What's there to change? I think she looks fine the way she is. Aisa's definitely at the top of the totem pole in terms of attractiveness, along with me of course." Nanoha said while grinning, and chuckling.
"I'm going to ignore that you didn't include me with you guys, Nanoha, but I want to hear Aisa's opinion, I'm right aren't I?" Seiri said while nudging me in the shoulder, with a smirk on her face.
"Actually, I think you are right, Seiri. Now that I think about it, I only have a few outfits, and who knows, it might make me feel better about myself." I said while trying to believe that was the answer I was looking for, even though I knew I wanted something else much more.
"Then it's decided! Let's go shopping right now! I know a great store you going to love, Aisa!" Seiri said while pulling me and Nanoha by the arms.
"What, right now? You do realize, we each have homework that we have to do by tomorrow?" Nanoha said, worrying that she will fall from her status of being the number one student at a certain high school.
"Don't worry! You are the smartest girl in our class, and I'm a close second, so just help Aisa with her homework after we all finishing shopping!" Seiri said not accepting a no as an answer; I guess Seiri always wanted to go shopping with both me and Nanoha.
I, Nanoha, and Seiri all arrived at our destination which was a certain shopping mall that is popular and known throughout all of Academy City.
"Welcome to Seventh Mist, I hope that you enjoy your visit here, and make sure to buy something before you leave!" the shop assistant said while joking around about purchasing something in the mall, though actually being serious.
"Let's go, Aisa! Let's see what you would look great in, ooh! I already have so many ideas of what clothes you should try on! Seiri said while sounding very excited, I honestly think she might have been more anticipated to see what I was going to try on than I was.
"First, we have outfit number one!" Seiri said while enjoying herself, and lifting her arms in the air.
I walked out of the dressing room while wearing a maid outfit that also featured hair clips towards the left side of my hair, a flower ribbon on the same side of my hair, and a maid hairband.
"Is this some kind of joke Seiri?" Nanoha said with a dumbfounded expression on her face.
"What do you mean? I think Aisa looks stunning! Aisa would look even better if she dyed her hair blue!" Seiri said with a cheerful smile on her face.
"Dam it, Seiri! I'm not trying to become a maid in the future!" I said with a pissed-off expression on my face.
"Second, we have outfit number two!" Seiri said while enjoying herself, and lifting her arms in the air.
I walked out of the dressing room while wearing a black cloak, a red robe, orange boots, and a black wizard's hat, all with gold border and trimmings, alongside a black choker, belt, and fingerless gloves.
"I like this outfit. It makes Aisa look younger than me in comparison. Nanoha said while trying to contain her laughing and taking pictures of me with her phone.
"I think she looks awesome! Aisa looks like she is about to rain explosions down onto her enemies! Seiri said as she had what looked like stars in her eyes.
"I'm not wearing a little kid's outfit! I don't want people thinking I'm twelve! I said while wanting to cast explosion magic on these two jokers.
"Third, we have outfit number three!" Seiri said while enjoying herself, and lifting her arms in the air.
I walked out of the dressing room while wearing a black and red flame-patterned bikini top with black shorts, a white studded belt, pink thigh-high socks, and white, usually unzipped mid-calf boots designed with red flames emerging from the soles.
"I think that outfit is showing way too much skin, Seiri," Nanoha said while trying not to stare towards me.
"What do you mean? I think Aisa looks really mature and badass in that outfit!" Seiri said with a proud look on her face.
"There's no way in hell I'm letting anyone else see me wearing this! What am I a stripper Seiri?" I said, with an embarrassed expression on my face and proceeding to run back into the dressing room to change into anything else.
"Finally, we have outfit number four!" Seiri said while enjoying herself, and lifting her arms in the air.
I walked out of the dressing room while wearing a dark red leather tunic with a lightweight copper breastplate and leather pants with boots up to the knees along with a hooded cape.
"What the hell kind of outfit is that?" Nanoha said while bewildered at what she was looking at.
"I think this is the best one yet! Aisa looks like a knight from a popular anime!" Seiri said with a cheerful smile on her face.
"I actually kind of like this one, though it's a little too flashy for my tastes," I said with an honest smile on my face, and thinking this outfit wouldn't be half bad without the copper breastplate.
In the end, I finally found an outfit I was looking for that wasn't one of Seiri's suggestions because most of them looked pretty awful on me. We were finally about to finish our shopping adventure until Seiri asked me a question.
Hey Aisa, no offense, but I think you would honestly look better without the catholic cross on your neck." Seiri said while pushing some of her hair away from her own face.
"You really think so, Seiri? I was thinking of getting rid of it for a while because it wasn't really my style." I said plus it was given to me by an annoying loli wearing a nun's habit with gold highlights and a flat chest.
"I think you should keep it, Aisa. I always thought it looked great on you." Nanoha said while trying to hide her blushing, red face from me.
"I politely disagree with you, Nanoha. When I first met you, Aisa, I thought you were a woman of the cloth, until I got to know you and figured out you weren't, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people think that of you too." Seiri said with an honest look expression on her face.
"Wait really? Is that seriously what other people think of me?" I said while wondering if that is why no guy has asked a beautiful girl like me out on a date yet.
"You are one to talk Seiri, with you always trying to show off your forehead to others," Nanoha said with a smug smile on her face.
"What are you trying to say? My forehead is one of my defining features, the other being my impeccable assets." Seiri said, while her big boobs jiggled, and not revealing to us that she actually used to be flat until she increased her bust size by using a certain Indian poker card.
"I think Seiri is right, plus I think my new outfit would look better without the cross necklace. Sorry, Nanoha." I said while removing the catholic cross from my neck and tossing it in a nearby trash can. I'm sure that all the vampires are extinct, I killed so many that night, plus there's no way any of them would actually try to find me.
"Let's go, Aisa. It's getting late and I still need to help you with your homework as well as doing my own homework too." Nanoha said while keeping her face hidden from me.
"That's right, I almost forgot about that. Thanks again, see you at school tomorrow Seiri!" I said while waving my hand towards Seiri and leaving the shopping mall with Nanoha.
After arriving at Nanoha's apartment, I finally sat down on one of her chairs deciding to relax after what felt like a really long day.
"Oh, no you don't, Aisa. No breaks till you finish all of your homework." Nanoha said while holding her hips and staring directly at me.
"Come on, Nanoha. Just give me five minutes of some R&R, and then I'll be fully refreshed." I said while closing my eyes, with a cheerful smile on my face.
"No, idiot. You have to earn a break by doing the work like everyone else, plus we all goofed off by going shopping so it's time to work hard, Aisa." Nanoha said as she flicked me in the forehead with her finger.
"Ow. Fine, fine, let's get this homework done." I said while accepting the fact that Nanoha's going to make me do the work now whether I like it or not. Jeez, she acts so bossy regarding school.
Thirty minutes later.
"So, if you divide these two numbers each by seven and then add the results together, you'll get the correct answer," Nanoha said while explaining how to do the difficult equation with simple instructions.
"Wow! I knew you were smart; Nanoha, but you are a genius! I said, amazed at how intelligent my friend is by seeing with my own eyes her own intelligence on full display.
"Ha, I mean I didn't skip a grade for nothing, it took a lot of hard work, but I achieved the results that I desired. Also praise me more, Aisa. Nanoha said with a very smug smile on her face.
"How did you ever get so smart, Nanoha, I know you worked hard for it, but that can't be it, right?" I said while wondering if there was someone that helped her in her studies.
"I'd be lying if I said it was all me, the truth is my father helped me a lot when I was young with homework, back then I was not nearly as intelligent," Nanoha said while explaining that even she wasn't always gifted.
"I see your Dad must be a very smart man, I wonder when I'll get to meet him," I said while playing with my hair, and wondering what kind of person Nanoha's father must be.
"I never told you? I'm sorry, Aisa, my father passed away when I was still a child, I'm sorry for not telling you sooner." Nanoha said while apologizing to me, and I couldn't believe she was actually apologizing right now.
"Idiot, you have nothing to be sorry for, I should have been the one to ask sooner, so don't worry about it," I said, while I proceeded to hug Nanoha tight and holding her close. Now that I think about it, I and Nanoha have never really talked about our pasts to each other; I never said anything concerning my childhood because of what happened that night. That night I became a bad person, a murderer, who killed so many vampires, and had a wicked grin on my face while I killed them. I can't tell anyone about that night, not anyone, especially Nanoha, if I do that, I know she'll hate me forever. I'm really sorry Nanoha, but I have always been a selfish person.
"That's enough, Aisa. I appreciate your apology but it will always be my fault for not saying anything first." Nanoha said as I continued to hug her close to me, while I felt Nanoha's tears drip onto my shoulders.
"I'll be right back, I just need to wash my face, so don't worry about me, Aisa," Nanoha said, while I proceeded to stop hugging her.
"Are you sure you are alright?" I said as I noticed Nanoha's face which looked so depressed after all the tears that ran down her face. Nanoha didn't say anything back as she headed to the bathroom.
"I'm back now. See, how happy I look, you had nothing to worry about, Aisa. It was just the timing and that I haven't thought about him in a while" Nanoha said while showcasing a cheerful expression on her face.
"I'm glad you are ok, Nanoha. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of man was your dad like? I said while moving some of my hair behind my ear.
"My father was the type of man who was very committed to his work and achieving the best results possible, to the point he would ignore me all the time. I honestly never liked my old man that much, we never really got along because he was never satisfied with me and that he made me improve my intellect by having me work every single day at my studies. However, I can respect his dedication for putting so much time and effort into his work, and that he made me the person that I'm today by teaching me many lessons, such as 'you always have to work hard, so that you can move forward.'" Nanoha said while explaining her complicated relationship with her father but at the same time keeping it straightforward and simple.
"I see, thanks for letting me know about your dad, I hope I wasn't coming off as prying toward your past, Nanoha," I said while having a cheerful smile on my face.
"Not at all, I don't mind telling you about it, we are friends, after all, oh look at the time it's almost 9 PM, don't you have to make dinner for yourself and Ms. Komoe soon? Nanoha said while her reminding me of the time made me feel like I was struck with a bolt of lightning.
"Oh crap! I got to go home, thank you so much for everything, Nanoha! See you at school tomorrow!" I said as I proceeded to grab my things and hurrying out of her apartment.
"I also have to go out to buy some dinner for me too, so it's no problem. See you later, Aisa." Nanoha said with a very cheerful smile on her face.
Meanwhile, at a certain psychiatric hospital
"Judgment! Move out of the way everyone! Because this whole building is now under Judgment's jurisdiction!" A certain girl said with tawny hair tied into two curly pigtails while wearing the uniform of Tokiwadai Middle School and the Judgment armband.
"What's the situation, Shirai?" Another Judgment girl said sporting short black hair with golden-brown eyes, as well as thick eyebrows but her most striking feature is her headband made out of artificial flowers.
"Oh my god, Uiharu, it's bad, it's really bad!" Shirai said while trying her best not to throw up, from the ghastly spectacle in front of her.
"N-No w-way, this can't be real! Uiharu said while many tears started running down her face, as she started vomiting at the horrific sight that she is looking at with her own eyes.
"What on earth happened here? What in the hell could have done this?" Shirai said while looking at the psychiatric hospital that was completely demolished. On top of the destroyed psychiatric hospital building were dead bodies, there were so many corpses that it would be almost impossible to count, and that's even if you could stare at them without puking. The dead bodies, if you could even call them that were ripped to shreds and scattered throughout the rubble. Torn off limbs, bodies that were missing heads, bodies with so many holes in them they resembled Swiss cheese, and one body that had a huge hole in it. There was blood, so much blood everywhere, you couldn't look around the destroyed building without finding blood spatter, and it was truly the stuff of nightmares.
Nearby the demolished psychiatric hospital, was a creature with a black mullet, clothes that are all black consisting of a jacket, shirt, sunglasses, and jeans. The creature was over nine feet tall and with a physique being so muscular that it was utterly abnormal. The creature was moving slowly from the crime scene, not that it couldn't take on the people down there in a fight, it would be another bloodbath. No, the real reason the creature was keeping quiet was so it could hunt down its next target. The creature didn't know where the girl with the ability, Deep Blood was located other than the fact that she was somewhere in Academy City.
The creature tried to learn the location of the girl with the ability Deep Blood by contacting an associate, who had knowledge regarding the girl, the man named Aureolus Izzard. The creature learned that Aureolus was a patient in a certain psychiatric hospital located in Academy City, though by the time the creature found Aureolus, the man had no knowledge to give to the creature. So the creature killed anyone and everyone, including Aureolus Izzard, in the hospital in a fit of rage, and it now had to find the girl by searching throughout Academy City. Academy City was not a small place by any means, it had so many buildings, technology, and most importantly, people living in it, which resulted in the girl being almost impossible to find. However, there were still ways to locate people with knowing the basic facts about a person, the girl with the ability Deep Blood was around the age of 15-16. This meant the girl would be a high school student, and there was also the fact that high schools kept records of each of their own students, this also included their residential records. These records were mandatory for every school in Academy City to include ensuring each of their own students' safety; this all meant that it was possible to learn each student's locations by getting your hands on the residential records.
"All I have to do is search every school's records; I can have that finished before the morning." The creature was thought of all of that in its head, it was thinking and highly intelligent.
"First, I should search the nearest High School that's by me, and learn more information to narrow down the list of schools to search." The creature said while jumping from consecutive rooftops at a fast rate, but making sure to not go too fast so as not to cause a disturbance.
The creature arrived at the nearest High School that was by it, and discovered a high school boy leaving the building; it was a perfect opportunity to gather more information. The creature then intercepted the student and took him hostage.
"Holy shit! W-Who the hell are you? Please I beg of you! Don't kill me!" The student screamed for his life while noticing the absurd physical strength of his opponent and realizing that he would have no chance against 'it' in a fight.
"If you know who the girl named Himegami Aisa, tell me where I could find her, if you do that you will have a quick, painless death." The creature said with a serious expression on its face.
"Himegami Aisa? I have never heard the name in my life! But please I can give you anything else! I have a little sister back home; you can take her life, so spare mine! That will satisfy you, right? Right?!" The student screamed betting everything on a gamble so that he could live.
The creature proceeded to slice the student's head off, spilling his blood everywhere, and killing the boy mercilessly. The creature then licked some of the student's blood off its hand.
"This blood is rotten!" The creature yelled while running away from the dead boy that it killed.
The creature then proceeded to stop when it got far enough away from the dead corpse, it was infuriated at the blood it drank not having an adequate taste but was even more furious over not gaining any knowledge. The creature could honestly care less over the fact that the student offered his little sister's life as tribute, it was far more concerned over the information it desired.
Then it happened, something so unexpected that not even the creature, as intelligent as it is, could have predicted it. It felt a scent reach its nose, not just any scent, but her scent.
"This is the scent of the girl with the ability Deep Blood! The girl named Himegami Aisa!" The creature yelled, with an excited grin on its face, it was so anticipated for its prey that it started leaking what may be drool from its mouth.
The creature sprinted at top speed toward its target, not caring who it hit during its rampage; it felt bloodlust, so much bloodlust that the only thing the creature was thinking was to kill.
The creature made it to its destination, thankfully no one was killed, and though that was only because no one was nearby the creature when it ran. The creature arrived at a certain apartment, it was where the girl with the Esper ability Deep Blood would be, and it's where Himegami Aisa is.
The creature was about to bust the door down, when it calmed itself by tearing off some of its flesh, it realized it was for the best to handle the situation carefully so that its prey had zero chance of escape. It proceeded to knock on the door lightly, like how a human would knock.
"Oh, is that you, Aisa-chan! I'll answer the door in just a minute!" A certain girl said the creature was alerted to the name 'Aisa' the name being the girl with the ability Deep Blood's name. Though since the girl also said the words 'is that you' that could only mean Himegami Aisa was not here, however, it also meant that this girl knows the girl with the ability Deep Blood and that she can be used as a hostage.
The creature decided to patiently wait for the girl to open the door, it was easier said than done, the creature had to repeatedly scratch its arm in order to not automatically crush this girl's throat in an instant, killing her, and losing a valuable source of information.
"Aisa-chan, you are finally home! I decided to make dinner for us since you got embarrassed at school today, and I felt bad for you, plus you called me Tsukuyomi and that made me very happy- wait. Who are you?" Tsukuyomi said while not looking at the creature in front of her until she fully opened the door, revealing not her student, Himegami Aisa, but a creature with a black mullet, clothes that are all black consisting of a jacket, shirt, sunglasses, and jeans.
"Little girl, you will be used as bait, so that I could find Himegami Aisa. If you refuse, I'll torture you, mercilessly, until you comply with my command, do you understand? The creature said while explaining itself as well as the predicament that Komoe is now in. Tsukuyomi was terrified, more terrified at that moment than any other in her entire life, though that nerve-crushing fear was not enough to stop her in place. Tsukuyomi remembered the face of her roommate, Himegami Aisa, and that was enough for her to make a decision to act.
Tsukuyomi Komoe proceeded to run at full speed back into her apartment so that she could gain some time, no matter how small, to call the police. Tsukuyomi refused to allow her student, Himegami Aisa, a girl she viewed as her own daughter, to be threatened by a monster like the one that was near her right now. However, Tsukuyomi was not fast enough, it wasn't a contest at all, because the creature closed the distance in an instant.
The creature grabbed Tsukuyomi by the throat, it decided to incapacitate her rather than kill her, only because she was worth more alive than dead. If Tsukuyomi was dead, the girl with the ability, Deep Blood might run away, and if she managed to escape the mission would be a failure. But, if Tsukuyomi was alive, Himegami Aisa would have no choice but to fight to save the girl's life, this is because Himegami Aisa would not allow someone she cared about to be killed.
The creature proceeded to carry an unconscious Tsukuyomi Komoe away from her apartment to a more suitable location, which would not allow any interruptions whatsoever. The creature left a message inside the apartment for Himegami Aisa, so that she could learn of the place where the creature and Tsukuyomi will be, as well as the conditions that must be met.
"Meet me by the abandoned construction site by midnight, or I will kill the girl with the name 'Tsukuyomi Komoe' and make sure to come alone or she will suffer the consequences."
That message was written on the back of the door of the apartment in blood.
Hello everyone! Ren here! With this chapter I wanted to establish the core dynamic of the trio of girls as a calm before the storm there is also foreshadowing here that will become apparent in the future. But that's all I will say on that to avoid spoilers! Also that cliffhanger at the end, yeah next chapter is going to be insane with tons of action! So get excited! Also, this chapter's song reference is of the Korn song of the same name, because of the horrific creature that is a killing machine which Aisa will have to face soon!
